We've been seeing Susan for almost a year now. My son was diagnosed with severe apraxia of speech and as a mom I felt very lost in how I could help him. Susan has been truly a gift for us. I was highly impressed by the fact that Susan went to an Ivy League school and that she promoted Evidance Based Practice when I first spoke with her on the phone. She is very knowledgeable, and I even attended a workshop that she provided to the community. Well, apparently, Evidance Based Practice is only good when it is convenient. She does not allow parents to be present during their child's therapy sessions because of "fear of spreading germs and Covid." She was not transparent with me regarding this "small" detail until the end of the first session (after I already emailed her multiple times before and spoke with her on the phone twice). Know this: 1. You are not allowed in the room even if you are vaccinated and wear a mask. You are expected to wait in the car in her driveway. 2. If your child dares to be sick more than one time, she might drop you as a client. In our initial phone conversation, she practically asked me if I have a "sickly child" when I mentioned that my preschooler was out of school for a week due to a cold. 3. She has a framed sign on the wall in her therapy room that says something like this: "Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason is you're stupid and make bad decisions." Even if it is there as a joke, it is highly inappropriate.   She excuses these practices by saying that she has the children's best interest at heart. She offered to send me videos if and when my child reaches a milestone. Everything is in HER control, and she acts like you should be grateful that she provided you with the privilege to be in her presence. After working with Susan 4 years ago, we returned for her help when we noticed our now 6 year old was struggling with pronunciation of "r" and "th" sounds. A little background...We met with Susan 2 years ago when my son just turned 3. He was in different speech center for six months prior and made minimal progress because of high therapist turnover at that center. I went to my insurance provider to ask who they recommended in the area and they told me to call Susan. Our first meeting wasn't an easy one. She expressed concerns over his speech and play behavior and told us to seek additional testing from a development specialist. This was something that was never brought up in the other speech center. He has since been diagnosed with ASD. Fast forward a few months and COVID hit. Susan was our life line during COVID. We were worried about the virus and the delay it may cause in our sons progress yet we didn't want to send him to a preschool where he would be exposed to large number of people. Susan worked with our insurance to get additional sessions approved. She also helped us find an amazing private tutor for our son. I look back and genuinely feel that without her help my son would not have progressed to where he is and I may have gone crazy over the anxiety of having a child with special needs at home during COVID. Susan also has been so accommodating to our schedule needs. She worked with us during the summer to allow us to continue his sessions while he attended school during the week in OC. Even after the new school year started she once again adjusted her schedule and meet us super early. So needless to say we are very very thankful and feel so lucky to be one of her clients. I recommend Susan for the following reasons: 1) she is a professional that's been in the industry for a long time. She worked with many different kids and know how to engage them in speech 2) she is so helpful and accommodating if you are open with her. Today my husband and I took our 19mo for evaluation with Susan as he is not verbal. We found Susan to have a factual and forward approach to accessing our son. Susan was my son's speech therapist for about a year. When he first began seeing her he was barely speaking 75/100 words and about 90% of the time we could not understand him. A year later he no longer needs speech therapy. She has done such an amazing job he is speaking in full sentences and we understand him 90% of the time now. Great speech therapist! my 4 yr old has a speech delay and we brought him in for 2 sessions a week. The result is fantastic! He went from saying baby bla bla words - which you could not understand to regular words.... hearing your 4 yr old say for the first time "i love you" is the most amazing words to hear... it's a simple thing for most parents, not a big deal to most, but if your child has speech issues you know what i mean - you just want your child to be " normal" and fit in... it used to break my heart that the kids in the playground would turn around and walk away from him when he spoke because they just - didn't understand him... as parents of kids who have special needs (like speech issues) you get that second sense and you understand your child by a mere few words or their actions... others - not so much... and your child feels left out and there's nothing you can do... He's been seeing her for a few months now and not only as his speech improved but he is now understood by other kids and is well- liked on the playground... he even said his age, first and last name recently when someone asked his name- and they understood him !!!! a real milestone :) last year his swim instructor never heard him speak. this year the first thing the swim instructor said was " he speaks now " She works hand in hand with the teachers from preschool if needed and is a no nonsense therapist. my older son developed a lisp and he excelled in less time than the schools did since elementary school free therapy... it shows you that sometimes paying the extra money is worth it... had i known that 10 yrs of free therapy at school would have been "cured" in less than a year with her i would have hired her a long time ago... i highly recommend her.... read more

Susan is simply amazing!!! Both of my children see her for speech and I am so happy that we found her! I became disappointed with the district when I was not seeing much improvement in my 4 year old daughter's speech. I knew it was time to look into a private speech pathologist and I am so happy I did. My daughter has been seeing Susan since June and she is honestly the best of the best!! When we first came to Susan we knew that my daughter had omissions and substitution issues as the district IEP showed. Most family members/adults were only able to understand about 50% of things she was saying. After our first meeting Susan was very honest about the IEP and brought up some concerns she had regarding my daughter's vocabulary and articulation issues. Since seeing her, I have seen HUGE improvements with my daughter's speech. Most people agree that her speech is much clearer and that they can now understand about 75-80% of what she is saying. My 2 year old son is delayed in speech and has numerous medical and health issues. He only had around 12-15 words when he first started with her in July and now, he has over 50! Thank goodness we found her because the school district we are in has yet to test my son even though his stutter was so bad last year that he had a hard time communicating in class. Where to begin!!! Amazing therapist!! My son was receiving his therapy from another facility, his speech did improve somewhat, but it got to a point where there was no longer any progress. My 6 year old daughter has been seeing Susan for about a year now for speech articulation and language expression issues. We have seen great growth!
