Craig Graber made our first time new car buying experience a very good one. It was far above and beyond our expectations; especially where it really counts; auto financing! Phillip Dellisola also didn't disappoint. He provided the needed servicing of the faulty liftgate. This made up for the time lost initially trying to work with Kyle Schmeling, who we found to be very unlike his colleagues. Otherwise, I highly recommend Karp. I have made every attempt to resolve several issues with this dealership to no avail all the way up through the General Manager for the last month. Finally I had it and contacted the Attorney General's Office and the BBB. Below I will put just a brief summary which is VERY brief about all the hell this dealership put me through. I do not recommend this dealership. Stay away! I dealt with Jonathan Hernandez, the asst sales manager; Kendra Juerakhan, the Sales Manager and finally the Tim McGilley, General Manager. I also requested the District Manager's contact and that was never provided. You can also see a photo attached of the vehicles mentioned below still posted on their website beware of bait and switch tactics, hidden undisclosed dealer's fee; 2% for cc charges, and much more do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. Key Points: 1. I believe I was bait and switched. I came in for a lessor priced and base trim level of the vehicle. I was told that vehicle was no longer available. Then I was told that the next trim level (fwd) model was available for $800 less than the vehicle that was not available. Then at the very last minute I was told there was a "traction light issue" and I could not leave with that vehicle. The sales asst manager, Jonathan, said that he had a more expensive model the AWD instead of the FWD BUT that he would give me the more expensive vehicle for the same price. He did not, nor was I shown the MSRP on the contract even though I demanded to see it. The finance person Ismail Ismail told me I would get it in an email after signing. So I had no idea that the vehicle was $1600 more expensive. 2. An undisclosed dealer's fee was slipped into the contract as "cash down" for $519.19. I never agreed to pay any fees upfront let alone an undisclosed fee. I called a month in advance to ask about all fees and Jonathan never disclosed this fee. I pointed this out in the finance office and said I never agreed to pay such fee and the finance person did not remove the fee. He would only show me the bank sheet and not the final contract and even said after I pointed it out that I wouldn't see this amount on the final bank sheet because he couldn't send it to the bank. That is because he slipped it in as cash down on the final contract under line 7B (capitalization cost reduction) along with the manufacturer discount. 3. I was charged for things I never received or did not agree to pay upfront, as well as an undisclosed dealer's fee. I incurred greater charges due to unagreed upon payment due. ($50 fuel, fees, dealer fee, $50 due to higher unexpected charge could not use my bank card cause me 2% to use cc machine) 4, Unethical strong-arm and unprofessional tactics were used throughout the purchase and complaint process. **As if this couldn't get more disgusting the General Manager thought it was fit to email me about all his personal hardships. This is the most unprofessional ignorant servant of people I have ever dealt with, despicable. read more

Another 1 star for KARP Buick to add to their collection. Yelp should allow for zero stars. Terrible experience with KARP Buick. Had to bring my new car to their service department 3 times (totaling 3 weeks) in the first month of owning the car. The interior of the car was rattling and shaking. Clearly there was something wrong. Every time I brought the car to the Service department they held the car for 1 week and they stated that they fixed it, but they didn't. Per the service department bolts in the car were stripped or broken. Don't get me wrong, the service team was very nice but if the mechanics are incapable of being mechanics then who cares. The sales manager attempted to help me. She was very nice as well and gave me a trunk liner for the inconvenience. It was the wrong liner for my car and the mechanics installed it with tape. After getting the car back for the 3rd time and the service team said it was "fixed" the trunk was still rattling loudly non stop, even on smooth roads; and the mechanics completely destroyed my new rear seat cover. I received a call from the General Manager because I was trying to return the car. He spent a majority of the call telling me how amazing his mechanics are, and that if I bring it in again...for a 4th time, they will fix it. He also stated that GM would not take the car back but I could submit a claim if I wanted. I refuse to believe 4th times a charm. It does not make any sense that they couldn't fix my car the prior 3 times but on the 4th time they get it right. I traded in the car and bought a new car, not from KARP. Please note, I am not saying that Buicks are bad, they are usually a good car. I'm saying that the Buick I got was bad and that KARP Buick was terrible. read more

Do not go to this place!!! Not only the cars that this place sells are crappy the service at this dealership absolutely sucks. I have been leasing cars from various companies for nearly 15 years and I have never experienced anything as horrendous as I have with Karp Buick. My two-year-old car that I lease from them ended up with transmission issues which was bad enough on its own being that it was the only a two-year-old car . So I brought the car in for service they told me they don't have any loners and they had me go to a car rental service place rent a car on my own and pay for it for as long as they were going to keep my car for service then I had to return the rental bring back a receipt which they said they were going to refund me. It has now been 2 weeks since I got my car back I have left multiple voicemails for carp asking them When my refund will be sent , nothing yet . Their people suck so bad that they don't even have the decency to call me back and let me know if the refund is in the works it's in the works. I am counting days and minutes until this lease is done and I can return this piece of shit car to the piece of shit dealership . I set an appointment for Monday morning to have my car looked at. At the time of my appointment, I let the staff know what the issue was (IPC) and that I wanted an estimate on the cost of repairing the electronics. My expectations for a car service is that 1) I make an appointment in order for my car to be seen at/near that time; and 2) I am called with an update and an estimate for the anticipated repair as soon as possible. Neither of these things occurred. I heard nothing from the dealership all morning, so I called the number on the business card I was given. The number was incorrect. Seriously? After looking up the correct number, I called around 2pm Monday. The service rep told me that my car had still not been taken into the garage, and they would call me later. He called me at 4:30pm saying that the mechanic had just started and that they would need to keep my car overnight. Overnight? For a basic car evaluation? This seems fishy to me. It was only when I inquired as to whether this was SOP for Karp that the service rep told me that the garage was short a couple of people, and things were taking longer than expected. I wish this information had been given to me at the time I dropped the car off - it would have saved me over $100 in car fare (I work in Garden City and live in Queens). I could have rescheduled. Instead, I was without a car - and without an offer to assist in this inconvenience (I mean - even SEARS offers car fare or covers the cost of a car rental - a dealership can't even bother?) When I picked up my car, they took a few dollars off ($25) the basic evaluation fee for my inconvenience. When I informed the service rep that his business card had the wrong number of them. He not only told me that he was aware of the issue, but showed me the box of cards with the wrong number on them. I am not sure why someone would keep a box of cards with inaccurate information - in my office, that box would be returned to the office administrator in order to get a refund. Or, barring that - thrown away. If I can find another Buick dealership in my area to handle the car repair, I intend to take my car there. read more

We went to this dealer to trade in a 3 year old Lexus 350. First off the appraiser told us it was in bad shape. It had 12000 miles on it. Second they informed me that the car facts had us listed having a bad accident.... no someone hit our rear bumper while they were parking and took off. We had the plate and the police found the lady who paid $350.00 to repair the damage. It was reported as an accident because we had to fill out a police report on this hit and run. We went back to Lexus and they offered us $28000 in a trade in. Because of the mileage we decided to sell it privately and sold it for $35,000... Karp auto wanted to rip us off. In the end I have sent many friends elsewhere. Lesson learned. read more

in April, 2009 I purchased my 2009 SAAB 9-5, with 3,600 miles on the clock through Craig Garber at KARP. Part of the purchase was a 3 yr or 36k mile scheduled service agreement that was voided when SAAB went bankrupt, which I can understand. What I don't understand is how I make an appointment for March 4, 7:00 a.m., made on February 17, to have the following work done : - tire balance / rotation - wheel alignment - NYS inspection - ATF flush can't be finished in a timely manner. I brought it in at 6:45 a.m., a KARP rep in Service tells me that they'll get to my car tomorrow. And when asked if the car can be done today, I'm told that it'll take at least 5 hours due to the fact there's only one SAAB mechanic and that there are a lot of cars ahead of me. I understand that KARP is no longer in the business of selling SAAB's which is why there's only one mechanic but the services I requested could be performed by any one of your mechanics. And if one makes an appointment to have their car serviced almost three weeks in advance for the minor wok that I requested, why should he wait a day? I never do car s***, but when I do, it seems like everyone's out to F*** you. Stopped by because the ridiculous rear reflector on my mother's Buick fell off. When you look at the part, there is no damage, and no attachment points, simply a couple of plastic undamaged clips, and dried up glue. Was told that the bumper was hit and caused the reflector to fall off. Which was untrue, since the bumper had a small rub on the opposite side of the fell-off reflector. Again, not damaged, just fell off. First was told it would be about 100 bucks to fix, then when they looked at the car again, was told the entire bumper needs to be removed and about 3 or 400 bucks. Ridiculous. It was some dried up glue with a shelf life that causes leasers/owners to bring their cars in for them to make an extra buck. Skinny dude at the front desk was no help at all, only available to keep increasing prices and telling you more and more horrible things went wrong. Told me someone was available to speak to me, when she was out of the office the whole day and had me sitting at her desk. Finally, a kinder gentleman asked me what was up, I told him the story, and he seemed to be on my side and understand that the car was a piece of junk and that he just needs to feed the family. He offered a chair and asked if I would like to sit down. We talked for about a half hour.He showed me videos of the new convertible coming this spring. He told me he is a new employee and how enjoys working here. When I was driving home I was thinking what a great guy Christopher was. I wish him well and much success. I have leased a Buick with it you get two free oil changes. My first oil change was terrific no problems. This time there was a waiting room full of people . A service person named Ben said I needed a tire rotation service which he wanted to charge me $169 dollars. I thought this was covered . I found it wasn't by a rude man in the sales department. It true that it is recommended after 7500 miles they should be rotated. So I went to Mavis down the block and it cost $76 dollars for rotation and balancing. I was the last person in the waiting room . I wonder if it was there way of getting back at me for not paying the extra or not. Either way I had a 10 am appointment which I was 10 minutes early and they didnt let me leave till 12:05 pm for an oil change. I bought a Jeep Wrangler here back in May 2021. I had experienced water leaking inside the cabin. They took my car for an entire month in September from the 1st until the 21st. Never had a loaner car and I had to figure out how to get to work everyday. Upon receiving the vehicle back it still had the same exact problem water looking into the cabin. I was told bring it back to the upholstery establishment that performed the job. I informed the service representative (Kyle schmeling) that I would need a loaner he said he would get back to me until this day never has. I called the upholstery place and dropped of the car once again for 4 days. I picked it up the next time it rained sure enough i had a puddle inside the cabin on the floor. Kyle thanks for absolutely nothing i would have mold growing if i waited for you to reach back to me and to the salesman Craig who said "we don't sell junk" you are an absolute bullshit artist that Jeep Wrangler was a piece of trash. I bought my car used from this dealership roughly three years ago and had a very positive experience dealing with the sales staff and they even went above and beyond in trying to get me as much money for a trade in as possible. Which I am still grateful for to this day. The car is solid but I have of course had issues as any car does over time and used a local mechanic for repairs. Keeping in mind the positive experience I had at Karp years back I decided to bring my car in this past weekend because my ABS and TRAC dashboard lights went on. The staff were extremely nice and knowledgeable and I waited a couple hours at the dealership while my problem was diagnosed. The diagnosis fee was approximately $180 which I had hoped would cover a small repair, boy was I wrong! The estimated cost of repairs came to $974 and I declined. They stated that both front speed sensors failed and the entire hub needed to be replaced on both wheels. This wasn't good news to me and asking if that diagnosis made any sense on various forums didn't yield any positive results. Yesterday I took my car back to my trusted mechanic and and paid $187 for him to repair a broken wire in the left side harness that was tripping my ABS/TRAC lights. After that relief I called up Karp and inquired about the false diagnosis and requested a refund only to be denied. I can't help but feel they attempted to deceive me into spending over $1000 on repairs I did not need. Needless to say I will not be returning to Karp Buick Service Center ever again. UPDATE 6/10/15 I tried calling the Karp representative on 6/10 but reached a voicemail of someone completely different than that of the rep who commented on this review. i hit a pothole at 45mph last sat. i had the road hazard so i made an apt for this past friday. they said the wheel was indeed bent, and after chatting with the insurance co, they agreed to make an appt for mon morning to have the wheel fixed. their policy is to have a free courtesy car, but you have to pay $18.50 per day for unlimited gas and the insurance deductible, even though i drive 30 min to work and have my own insurance. this fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. so i drop the car off and get a ride, from them, to work. then i get the call that they can't come by the dealership to do the work that day. so they pick me up from work, and i get a rental lacrosse that they take my credit card info for..already i'm not happy. i said that i had the warranty, bill them and it wasnt MY fault that they didnt come on the appointment date. no luck. i managed to get the service manager to agree to give me the rental fees back in the form of service credit, thinking it would be only a day. one day turns into wednesday late afternoon that they finally "fix" the wheel. thursday morning, i arrive at the dealership to get my baby back. the car was sitting outside of the garage waiting for me to drive away. ive heard horror stories on here about the fact that 20" wheels do not like to have the tires taken off without scratching, so i check. sure enough, the inner section of the wheel is decently scratched. i go into the service office and tell the clerk about it who then gets the service manager. he goes outside and tells me it isnt that bad, and that you cant see it. i said obviously i can see it, and i have you a pristine wheel, albeit dirty and bent, and i received a scratched whee;. he then proceeds to try to blame it on the company that did the work and i told him that i didnt care, i gave HIM my car, not the rim repair company. here's where it gets even worse; as we're bickering over it, i notice that theres a new smudge on my fender wheel lip-turns out it isnt a smudge, but a gouge down to the medal and a ding to go along with it! he shuts up, and we go inside immediately and he gets the company on the phone. at this point im already late for work and i need a car so they said there were no more buicks left except for the one that i had, which was empty on gas and when i received it, it looked like a can of soda exploded on the inside. the dealer was also a saab dealer, as well as a kia and volvo- i said i'll take anything else that is at least as luxurious as my regal..they said all they had was a 2011 saab 95 so they very reluctantly gave that to me. so now im waiting to hear about when it will be back from the body shop. keep in mind this is the white diamond, all original paint, 3 layers plus clearcoat and they will have to blend the colors..so there goes the original paint and who knows what down the road and what it will do to my resale value. upon picking up my car, the service manager acted like they did me a favor to fix the car that their subcontractors ruined. He would not do anything else for me in addition to the repairs, while saying he already did too much for me, and then threw in a free oil change as some weak form of compensation. not at all happy-will NEVER shop with Karp Buick again and I will NEVER recommend anyone to their dealership. read more

This is your typical " Bait and Switch " Dealership........After Craig was given all the particulars and specifics on the car I wanted, He came back with a Monthly Lease payment that was a little high.......As we walked to the door, the sales manager dropped the monthly payment to a more do-able number. I explained I wanted to check out the Nissan Rogue before making a decision and would be in touch. I decided on the Buick and told Craig to move forward with the deal...... that's when the phone calls started, little by little Craig started to double talk me with the usual car salesman antics...... before I knew it, the down payment was double and the monthly payment increased. After some brief negotiation, I didn't hear back for a couple of days, and when they did they came gack with a quote that was $50 higher! I was told that a incentive program had gone away. I took my 1998 Buick LeSabre, which was purchased new by my great aunt from Karp Buick, in for a NYS inspection approximately two months ago. The car only has 11,350 miles on it. (That's right 11k miles) I was told by Buick service department manager Alex Gross that the car failed the safety portion of the inspection and would need new sway bar bushings. I explained that that was not grounds for failure and asked to see the car. I examined the car when it was on the lift and noticed that neither bushing were excessively worn, and both were perfectly functional. I argued with the technician James Gracey stating that not only were worn bushings not grounds for failure, but the bushings were not even worn. He pulled up a brochure on suggested parts to examine during an inspection. I explained that the official rules and laws for NYS were listed by the DMV, however both the dealer & service manager told me this was not true and that there were no set guideline inspectors were required to follow. I was told it would cost approx. $150 dollars to replace the bushings. Mr. Gross said that it was up to the technician to decide which cars should pass or fail, and that the terms set by NYS were vague. I felt that was untrue & upon contacting the DMV I was directed to form CR-79 Page 40. Nowhere does it state that bushings that appear worn are grounds for rejection. I went to have my car re-inspected by a licensed & certified mechanic & the car passed inspection in the same condition it arrived to the dealership at. I was told by the mechanic that worn bushings are not a legitimate cause for a safety inspection failure. I was also told that even in their present condition they were perfectly functional and safe. After numerous phone calls to the dealership I finally spoke with Tim the general manager and was offered a service credit of 37 dollars, the cost of the inspection. I told him I wanted a refund and did not wish to do business with an incompetent dealership. He refused to refund my money so I contacted the NYS DMV and reported the service station. (The phone number and repair shop ID are listed at the bottom of the receipt for others who wish to complain) About a week later I received a call from the DMV stating that they had spoke with the dealership and got them to refund my money. (Thank you NYS DMV) I even photocopied the check I received from Karp Buick as proof that I was right and they were wrong. The real reason my car failed it's NYS inspection at Karp Buick is a very simple one - There's not enough profit in simply performing a NYS inspection, and let's face it, they were willing to lie to make more money. Or best case scenario, they simply didn't know the rules and didn't know what they were doing. So Karp Buick either A.) Lied in an attempt to upsell an necessary repair or B.) Doesn't know what they're doing Dealerships hate when you're smarter than they are. I would describe my experience with the service technician, and the head service manager for the Buick department as extremely poor, and I found their lies to be downright insulting. My experience with Tim the general manager was fairly tolerable. At least he made some of attempt to remedy the situation (albeit not really a great one). If a 20 year old kid knows more than a mechanic hired by Karp Buick, do you really trust them with your expensive new car? Take my advice, if you want reliable knowledgeable service, take your business elsewhere. read more

Dear All, i need to share my expirience with you. .....If it would not be Rick Davilla at Buick, we would definitely step out without new car. When we actually came to pick up our new Buick Encore, we were notified that my credit score with GM was 643. However i checked my credit score with all three Credit Sources, my credit score was 729. I was not even offer to physically see credit score. Meanwhile prior to coming , multiple times I spoke with Frank, the Manager, Tony Baron, salesperson, asking if there was no changes, problems, issues? Nobody told me that my monthly payment jumped from $225 to $289... They said everything is alright, that we can come at any time and pick up the car, they both recommended me to switch insurance to prevent any farther delay at the pick up time. I switched the insurance and we came to pick up the car, after 10 days from the first visit, as it was agreed. When we were given the numbers by the finance department, the numbers got almost 30% higher than it was agreed on written preliminary agreement, it became a shocking surprise to me and my husband. When I asked them why nobody notified us prior to coming, Tony Baron, our salesperson, who all awaysudden became absolutely careless, said it was personal information and could not be discussed over the phone. This whole story was really redicules: they could not tell me that my monthly payment increased?! Based on a fact that my husband is an ill person with diabetes and heavy heart problems, I decided to compromise somehow with Riccki, who seems to be the only One; who did not want to loose the customer. Otherwise, everyone else, included our salesperson , who simply offered to return our deposit back. Finally we made a deal, again thankfully to Rick. He and the other guy, Jason Rothenberg, replaced our licence plate, walked through my husband with the new manual for Buick Encore and we drew away. Rick Davilla gave me a big hug, which was very nice of him. After that long aggravated day, I said if with God willing after 39 months we would change for another Buick, we would definitely pick Rick Davilla to be our salesperson. My husband's car has now been in the service dept. for 5 days. He had a problem with the air conditioner, and after 4 days, HE had to call to find out if the car was ready. Upon picking it up and paying $200.00 for a sensor, the car is still blowing out hot air. Apparently, paying for extended warranty service gets you nothing, because it took 2 days for them to even call and find out if we were covered. On top of that, they are doing everything BUT using that warranty to replace the unit if it is not working. They have done a "dye test" to find a leak, but apparently that isn't the solution. If the unit needs to be replaced why not replace it??? The service manager seems never to be there when we call. Buyer beware, because the service dept. seems to be inefficient. read more

Prices are insanely high. $69.00 for an oil change. Service manager told me that it was special oil. My son got the oil changed for his truck same day with the same brand oil and it was 2 quarts more. All for $20 less. They charged $40 to rotate tires - the dealer that I usually go to does not charge. $220 to flush power steering fluid. To add insult, the service manager told me that they offer discounts but he could not give me any discount because I did not have a coupon. They wanted $1,400 to replace brake pads and rotors.
