I wandered in as a window shopper and ended up spending quite a chunk of time looking around at all the pretty fashions. They had a full sale rack in the back with past-season items, great sun dresses for summer and an absolutely gorgeous lacy yellow top that I wanted to take home with me right that minute. It reminded me of a slightly pricier St. Paul version of Parc Boutique, which is a real compliment from me since I love that place. The merchandise seems to be mixed between well-made threads and those less sturdy items that you see at a lot of boutiques. I saw a lot more of the well-made variety at Karma, which was reflected in the higher prices but I'm cool with that when the quality/style is solid. The only thing that wasn't great is that I didn't really have any interaction with the person working. In small shops it's a little awkward not to at least recognize another human's presence, but I didn't actually need any assistance so it wasn't quite as awkward as usual. read more

Karma is the perfect place to shop if you are looking for classier, well made, clothes and jewels. This ain't no Forever 21. Some of the designers they carry are even local! Karma has the perfect young vibe that was lacking Grand Avenue for so long. They carry unique and adorable brands that are perfect for 20 somethings. I have drooled over many a purse and dress at Karma but the set back is I just can't afford it there. Most things are priced at $80+ and I am just not financially there yet, although I wish I were every time I head in the shop. Your best bet with Karma is to go for the jewels, they are handmade by locals and even employees of Karma, they are also very reasonably priced. If you have the money, head to Karma and go crazy on some merch;and if you don't, head to Karma just to ogle. Tip-Look for the $10 Jewelry Tree-full of great steals! read more

Just a quick note to say that I love this store. The first time I browsed the store a few months ago I didn't find many things that I liked and thought the prices didn't match my budget. But, I decided to come in again the other day and was overwhelmed with beautiful clothes and reasonable prices. I tried to leave with only one dress but I ended up buying three - all around forty dollars. The store clerk was friendly and polite -- so no complaints there! I will plan to come here every month just to browse because there's always something new :) read more

No shopping trip to Grand Ave is complete for me without stopping in Karma. I rarely buy anything, because I kind of think their merchandise is over-priced for the fact that most of it isn't very unique, but sometimes you stop in and find a deal, so I am glad I check each time. The last time I went, they were having a big sale, and on top of that, they were having a promotion that if you spent more than $50 dollars, you got 25% off your purchase, which was a huge surprise when I went to the checkout and my dress that was supposed to be $64 was $48. I was happy for the deal, but was a little shocked that they didn't really advertise that around the store. There are a bunch of boutiques that are similar in the area that I think are better, but I would definitely recommend Karma if you are on Grand Ave, but am not sure it would be worth a special trip or anything read more

Stopped in today for a few minutes after taking my daughter to a doctors appointment across the street. Usually going into a boutique immediately makes her feel better. Not so today. I really wanted to like this place, its somewhat similar to Lillians, just down on Grand a bit but a little smaller and not as much merchandise. The prices on the purses seemed a little high but I did admire a few of those. The accessories seemed reasonably priced and they have a sale area in the way back, almost hidden, just FYI for you bargain shoppers. What really disappointed me was how uppity the sales associate was. I am very appreciative of a sales person who is not hovering over me but you can not hover and still be pleasant. She really seemed like she did not want to be there. I felt uncomfortable the entire time we were in the store. I wonder if these sales people go to the same charm school as those at the Yarnery down the block? I think its time some of these Grand Avenue little shops get over themselves and just start being real. Karma, just because you are across from Pottery Barn does not give you the right to snub people who might not "look" like they live on Summit Avenue. Regardless of all that, I will wear my thick skin another day and venture in because i did really like some of the items they had and like some other yelpers have mentioned, I am certain new items arrive weekly. I love this store and it is a great addition to the St. Paul girlie walking tour. Fun clothes and accessories in a great neighborhood. I like Karma and I'm definitely a fan of local shops, but the merchandise is a little spendy and not as "lust-worthy" as say, Anthropologie to warrant a purchase (in my opinion) so I usually browse rather than buy. I must say, however, that if you drop in between seasons you'll likely find a deal in the sale area. I was in the other day and saw some chunky knit sweaters for half the original ticket price! Karma's lace trim tanks are probably the cheapest clothing option otherwise (I think they're about $16?) and a lot of the trendy accessories are also doable. They have these locally-made key necklaces in right now that are a little expensive but oh so pretty! As Kathryn B. mentioned, they also carry a lot of items from Free People in addition to a personal favorite, Tulle. If you don't find a parking spot directly out front (that area can get a little chaotic) there's free 2 hour parking in the lot behind the building. read more

I love this store - can always find a versatile article of clothing. I think people need to know that almost every age can shop here. It's not just for the post teen crowd that so many designers and stores are geared toward. They do a great job and the staff is great! I have brought people from all over the twin cities and they all love the clothes they purchase from Karma! read more

I never tire of this place. This newest visit I found a new hat. I can't emphasize how big a deal this is. The last time I bought a fun hat was in Alexandria, VA, EIGHT years ago at Hats in the Belfry (another boutique shop that's worth visiting). Still extremely happy about this purchase, loved the other accessories bought as well, and very appreciative we have this cute little shop on Grand Avenue. read more

I know boutiques carry multiple designers who set their own prices, and I understand Karma is for the "modern Bohemian", but $239 for a non-cashmere sweater [though I really wanted it and yes, I will look for a cheaper version] is a wee bit outrageous; especially when there are coats on the next rack for $80. The jewelry and accesories were cute and more reasonably priced and there was a gorgeous, teal coat with a funky lining that caught my eye, but I wasn't going to schlep that thing back on the plane. read more

The stuff in here isn't really my style, but I did manage to find some well-priced sale items at my recent visit. The first few times I've been there, I've had indifferent staff who couldn't be troubled to acknowledge a shopper's presence; at this last visit, I think either the shop owner or maybe an actual manager was there, because she was quite attentive to all of the women in the shop (and there were many that weekend) and helpful. Funky boutique tucked away on Grand Avenue. I bought a Lucky scarf in here that was on sale. They have loads to cute unique jewelry. I like their Melie Bianco bags too. I typically cruise the sales racks to find my stuff. Some stuff in here CAN be pricey though. read more

I have been strolling pass this shop for about a month on our evening walks and have always wanted to go in and and shop but was not open at the times we were walking. The window displays were always fun and exactly my style. Yesterday was in there about 6pm and was excited to finally spend some $$ on some of the items I was seeing in the window. The experience was very unpleasant. Right when me and my girlfriend walked in we were not greeted or even given a smile for that matter. The young lady who was working there was crunching on I think was chips and salsa or something crunchy. She was also just gabbing on the phone at one point. I was never once asked if I needed any help. I then found a couple dresses that I wanted to try on and when I asked her she shooed me into the dressing room with her hand instead of showing me to it. My friend had to get me the different sizes I needed because again the employee never asked once if I needed any assistance. When we finally left being that it was very uncomfortable, not even a "have a nice day." The sad thing is, is that I love the close and purses in there and would love to shop there but not to be made to feel that I am not welcome and more of an annoyance. read more

I strolled on in on a lovely Saturday afternoon. There were not too many shoppers in the store, yet the sales clerk didn't even bother to acknowledge my presence. Sorry, maybe I don't look like your typical boutique shopper, but I do enjoy spending money on quality clothes and quality service. My favorite boutique on Grand. The $10 earrings are great for presents. The dresses are adorable, I've bought 3 there over the past 4 months all under $70. And the staff are lovely. Always look forward to popping in and checking out the sale rack. read more
