Um...favorite store in the world…read more I'm almost anxious to give this such a good rating because I want to keep it a secret! Their slogan is true, it is the best kept secret in the Twin Cities! So this place isn't your typical consignment store. There's so many around the area that that market is saturated and boring. No, this is a store for high end clothing that is slightly imperfect. This could mean a makeup stain from someone who tried it on in the store, a small fabric tear, a broken zipper, or a snag in the material. The imperfections range in size and severity. These clothes have never been owned--the luxury brand tags are always still attached! Annex gets shipments in 6 week cycles. The first few weeks are full price ($15-$25...still dirt cheap for high quality brands!) and the clothes that usually go during this time are the nice brands with very small imperfections. Next, the store marks ALL clothes down to $10 for a few weeks. Then to $5 for about a week. Then......$3 for two days!!! I pretty much only go during the $3 days because I love to hunt for the last treasures standing. I get the best deals here. Michael Kors, Free People, and Loft are a few of my favorite brands I get here for dirt cheap. You do have to be willing to either stitch up an imperfection or live with a slightly impaired product, but if perfection isn't a requirement for you, you have to check this place out! They have awesome bags and shoes too, but these don't go on sale typically. Shoes range from $5-$25--some have no visible imperfections, but stay away from ones with broken straps or other things not worth trying to fix. Bags usually have a little black mark or something easy to look past, and they sell great bag brands like Michael Kors and Cole Haan. I cannot emphasize enough how much I love this place. All my friends know when I wear something new that I got it for $3 at Annex. If you're willing to fix a small imperfection or look past it, this is the place for you! Happy hunting :)

If you're crafty and own a decent sewing machine, then this is the store for you…read more They carry tons of high end designer clothing from places like Nordstrom. Everything is at least 80% off retail. All of the items are damaged in some way (hole, rip, makeup stain, broken zipper, etc). They conveniently attach a tag that describes the damage, as well as where it's located. Personally, I haven't had luck here, but I friend of mine is in love with this place. She frequently finds dresses that are as low as $3 and simply need the zipper replaced. If only I had that kind of time and skill! Again, if you have the time and the ability to mend clothing, you'll have a heck of a time shopping here.

It really goes all out and has 57 million different stores. Of course they're going to have a store that is dedicated entirely to socks. I can't say that I love the concept. I like store but the employees weren't very friendly and the prices were a little on the high side because I'm used to paying dirt cheap prices for socks. They do have a great selection though so that's a plus.

The male assistant rather indifferently pointed out two. Both for narrow calves. I explained that I had called in advance and was told they did have socks for wide calves. I asked if they had knee highs in any other material for wide calves. He waved his hand around, totally disinterested and suggested basically said I should just look myself and made it clear he was totally indifferent. He told me to try the mens socks. I am female, elderly, and small. I felt that my age and gender made him feel I was a waste of his so valuable time.

The merchandise seems to be mixed between well-made threads and those less sturdy items that you see at a lot of boutiques. I saw a lot more of the well-made variety at Karma, which was reflected in the higher prices but I'm cool with that when the quality/style is solid. The only thing that wasn't great is that I didn't really have any interaction with the person working. In small shops it's a little awkward not to at least recognize another human's presence, but I didn't actually need any assistance so it wasn't quite as awkward as usual.

Karma has the perfect young vibe that was lacking Grand Avenue for so long. They carry unique and adorable brands that are perfect for 20 somethings. I have drooled over many a purse and dress at Karma but the set back is I just can't afford it there. Most things are priced at $80+ and I am just not financially there yet, although I wish I were every time I head in the shop. Your best bet with Karma is to go for the jewels, they are handmade by locals and even employees of Karma, they are also very reasonably priced. If you have the money, head to Karma and go crazy on some merch;and if you don't, head to Karma just to ogle. Tip-Look for the $10 Jewelry Tree-full of great steals!

She also offered me other suggestions to try as an alternative. I couldn't tell you the last time I've received such wonderful customer service at a clothing store. Unfortunately, the clearance section did not have the jeans in my size, but I found some other goodies at a fantastic rate. The store was well organized . Staff were so friendly and personable. Only area that needed some attention was the fitting rooms. I was so happy to walk away with only spending $15 on two pairs of pants which normally would have costed me $60. The saleswoman made a few suggestions, which didn't match up with what I explained I was looking for. She then suggested I keep looking around and that she would too. She then proceeded to hang out chatting at the counter with another customer and employee where she remained until I left the store. Could it be because I was not dressed expensively? Her attention was lukewarm at best. I went down the hallway to Eileen Fisher and purchased clothing there.
