I had just experienced another flareup and was feeling desperate. They were able to get me in to see Dr. Shane quickly, and when I tell you that I felt like I was with a miracle worker. We went through several motions during the intro session, and he was able to diagnosis my issue (piriformis syndrome and tight hips). He performed cupping and massage, and he was able to loosen up my stubborn hips. He then had me perform some PT exercises, and I IMMEDIATELY felt relief. I honestly couldn't believe it. I thought the relief would go away after a few hours, but it stayed for a few days. I've worked him for about 6 sessions now, and I've felt drastic improvements. He tailors the training session to my problem areas, and he doesn't increase my load too quickly, to make sure I don't reinjure myself (which had been happening before). It's a bit pricy, but it's honestly been a lifesaver for me. Would recommend to anyone!

On 9/9/2024 I was injured during a massage at Sports Performance Physical Therapy in Chula Vista…read more The LMT had her elbow in the intercostal space of my left anterior chest when I suddenly felt an incredible amount of sharp, stabbing pain. I cried out and requested that she remove her elbow from my chest. The pain in my left chest was excruciating. I was unable to use my left arm without experiencing an enormous amount of pain. Even breathing was painful. Coughing and sneezing were unbearable. When I woke up the next morning, the pain was severe. Based on my symptoms, I was afraid I had a rib fracture. I contacted Cristianah Comaduran, Operations Manager of Sports Performance to notify her of the injury. She spoke with the LMT, who verified what happened. We stayed in contact over the next several weeks. I informed her that I would be filing a claim with their liability insurance and would contact her once I was completely asymptomatic. For the next two weeks, the pain was severe. I was unable to work, do household chores, and help my 4 year son with the things he needed, like getting dressed, bathing, basic ADLs. I filed a short term disability claim through my employer (I'm an ICU nurse). The stipulation for payment is that the first two weeks are unpaid, and then 60% of earnings are paid. This was a great financial burden for my family. The consequences of this injury were costly with low income for the months of October and November. My pain continued to improve until I caught an upper respiratory infection (URI) that caused continuous coughing. The pain was back and it was severe. Each cough and sneeze was excruciating. Once the URI resolved, my pain improved. For two months, the pain and suffering was debilitating, not allowing me to work, exercise, take care of the household, and most importantly, my son. It caused sleepless nights because the pain medication I was prescribed did little to relieve my symptoms, which lead to chronic exhaustion. The findings of my MRI on 11/14/24, which was two months after the injury, showed asymmetric edema at the level of the left third sternocostal joint. Two months after the injury, I still had abnormal results which were consistent with my symptoms. My thoracic spine MRI from 2022 showed none of these injuries. My PCP's impression was that there was a sprain of costal cartilage subsequent encounter. He determined it was costal-sternal joint strain vs developing costochrondritis. Along with pain and suffering, I experienced anxiety and distress due to financial strain. The injury resulted in thousands of dollars of missed wages. In addition, I was unable to accrue paid time off and contribute to my pension and retirement fund. This set me back two months from being vested at work. When I returned to work, I had very little sick or vacation time due to the inability to accrue paid time off (PTO). In January of 2025, I called out sick for 3 shifts (36 hours) when I was sick with the flu. I did not have enough sick time to cover the hours missed. I also received a double occurrence for my absence, which was not cleared from my record until January of 2026. It was worrisome that despite returning to work, the effects of this injury continued to be a financial burden and was affecting my performance review at work. This incident has also resulted in out of pocket costs, such as co-pays and pharmaceuticals, not to mention I was never reimbursed for the massage that started it all!! Perhaps worse than everything, I had to borrow money from my parents, so there's an element of shame in addition to the pain, suffering, and distress. This injury has been costly in terms of lost wages/PTO accrual and out of pocket expenses, not to mention inability to contribute to retirement and inch closer to being vested at my place of employment. I submitted an incredible amount of documents to Sports Performance in attempt to file a claim against their liability insurance. They were extremely difficult to work with and despite my repeated efforts to present all documents they requested, my claim was denied. Total cost for lost wages and out of pocket costs: $20,224.09. Because of this massage, I experienced pain, suffering, chronic exhaustion due to insomnia, anxiety, distress, and shame...and I didn't even get a fucking apology.

As a former collegiate athlete, I've been to a lot of PT clinics and this is one of the best. The PTs and aides are knowledgeable, patient, and fun. Sarah was a huge part of the fact that I was able to return to sport within 5 months of surgery. She was very invested in my recovery, challenging me with new and sport-specific exercises that helped me get stronger at each appointment. I would highly recommend PPPT others.

Each session I am getting better and stronger, I notice the difference his massages and exercise plans have on the way I walk. Try him out for a 2-4 weeks and you will notice an improvement. By the way, his massages are also the best! I also recommend Tiffany if you have the chance of meeting her when she comes back. Oh, and in terms of COVID sanitation practices, they are all wearing masks, clean the beds after each usage, wash their hands before moving on to another patient, and have us distanced apart! They do routine temperature checks and take your wrist's temperature. Safety precautions are good here! Lastly, one thing that also distinguishes them from others is that everyone who works here is friendly and will watch you throughout your exercise and offer corrections! Other places left a timer, walked away and only came back when you're done. Not here! You will get advice on proper form and adjustments if you cannot do the exercise given. The conversations with the clients also makes us feel more appreciated and welcome :)

To Whom It May Concern,…read more I am writing this message with a sincere and heartfelt plea for your attention and support. I've been a patient at your Imperial Beach clinic for some time, though I had stopped attending for a while. The reason was the constant turnover of doctors and the inconsistency in care. Each time I called, I was assigned to someone new--sometimes even someone in a different state. It became incredibly disheartening, and I felt like just another number in a system that prioritized volume over quality care. But despite my hesitation, I decided to give the clinic one last chance--and I'm so grateful that I did. That's when I met Dr. Chin. From the very first appointment, he demonstrated a level of care, attentiveness, and compassion that I had been missing. He listens, he understands, and he never rushes. Unlike past experiences where appointments felt like an assembly line, Dr. Chin takes his time and truly sees his patients as people--not just cases. Today, even while visibly unwell, Dr. Chin showed up to work. His dedication moved me deeply. It's not often you encounter a provider so committed to their patients, and it inspired me--not just to keep coming back, but to take my health seriously again. When you have a doctor who genuinely understands you and your diagnosis, it makes all the difference. I don't know who will read this, but I truly hope it reaches someone in a position to recognize what a rare and invaluable asset Dr. Chin is. He deserves to be acknowledged, supported, and appreciated for the incredible work he does. Please--if there's anything you can do to support or reward Dr. Chin, I implore you to do so. Patients like me are better off because of him, and I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. With sincere gratitude, Miguel Angel Martinez II

About a month later I was told by military medical I just needed my civilian doctor to sign a form confirming it. Sounds easy right? No. This clinic made it HELL. When I called IB health clinic, asking if I could bring in the form or fax it to my doctor to sign off that she just did my exam they said I couldn't fax it and needed an appointment JUST to get the signature that the doctor did it. I expressed how important and urgent it was, but their soonest wasn't for a month out. I was dismissed immediately and just given a "sorry we don't accept fax or email, that's our soonest, nothing we can do for you". So I waited a month, only for it to be canceled the day of with no notice because the doctor called out. I desperately asked if there was anything they could do, allow a fax or email this one time, put me with another doctor, any sort of way they could help. Despite explaining how urgent this was for my military orders and that I only needed a signature for the exam they ALREADY COMPLETED. They refused to help, wouldn't allow another doctor to sign, in a dismissive tone saying I should "schedule an appointment and bring my papers next time when I do". Clearly, that's what I was there for, your useless comment wasn't needed or helpful. Thankfully, I went elsewhere the same day to a clinic I had never been to, had no appointment and was helped IMMEDIATELY. IB health center was a terrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Had I known they weren't going to be any help at all from the start I would've never come here. They also contact your EMERGENCY contact for non-emergencies. Insane.

The first time we waited about an hour or so to be taken back for an intake interview which is useful but not with Dr. Cadava herself, with another chiro that works there. Both chiropractors are so friendly, knowledgeable, and do great work and they have corrected the issues I had in my back and neck. My main issue and grievance is their scheduling and time management with their patients. Each time we have waited more than 30 min (min) to be seen, most times longer that that. Even after arriving for our 2:00 appt, the first appt slot after they come back from lunch, they are still an hour behind. I have also seen some patients complain about waiting for 2 hours after their appt time. There is also an issue of people walking in and being seen right away while we have been waiting with an appt. Overall, we won't be going back because we have a pretty hectic schedule and don't have the time to accommodate their unpredictable wait times. The doctors are amazing though and do great work on your back and neck.
