I live not too far from here for a very long time. Since my Swiss friends were going to an event nearby here, we decided to eat at this restaurant. I really wanted to like it!
Service was very cold, inattentive and slow. The lady took no patience w my poor command of German despite my efforts. I believe personal xenophobia or personal distaste of how well a person is integrating is a personal matter and shouldn't be conveyed during services given where people are paying for it - a bit unprofessional. This is one of those places that the customer is always wrong or annoying. But perhaps it was just that particular wait staff that maybe had a bad week. Who knows so I won't judge the entire review on that one person... Adding to this, we waited over 1 hour for our food with no explanation nor apology so we ended up being late to our event. Also, my vegetarian lasagna was burnt (I can't believe how a restaurant touting themselves as high quality would dare to serve this) and borderline lukewarm to warm, and a bit rather overpriced for what I got. I tried taking a photo but my camera didn't work but I made sure I showed my friends so they are also convinced not to return.
We all had a good time because we were in each other's good company but I could see that no one was enjoying the incredible 1 hour wait for a restaurant that wasn't packed like what you see in the Niederdorf (Old Town) and even my friends that are very patient and grew up here joked that this was very poor and unfriendly service. I don't think any of us would be back again given the plethora of options within a 5-10 minute walking distance that may probably compete with more attentive service, better food and turnaround.
It seems to do ok w the older local crowd that are regulars. But if you are a tourist and you don't speak the lingo, probably not a good place for you and don't worry - they are probably happy you are not going there anyway so everyone's happy. :-D read more
