Came here with my friend on a Saturday an hour before closing because we wanted to do a local tasting. What we didn't know was that they normally stop tastings an hour before closing, but they were really accommodating and let us indulge in the "safari" tasting experience that goes well with the interior vibe of this location. Staff was friendly and welcoming and the layout just felt very warm and cozy, perfect atmosphere just just sip on some wine and catch up with my friend, and the music taste lvl was an A+. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend you check them out, will have to come back for another glass of their Zinfandel which ended up being my favorite from our tasting experience. read more

I came here to check out this wine bar and support my friend and his band who were performing there. I came solo by uber and felt welcome and comfortable coming here alone. The server was friendly and seated me across the room from my friend's band and that was fine and I wanted a rosé wine and she gave me two samples to try. I settled on the PJ rose wine which was slightly sweet and I also had a slice of warmed strawberry pound cake which was went perfectly with my rose wine. The ambience was roomy and lovely and it was a bit crowded as there seemed to be an event there. I enjoyed the wine and the music and service was friendly and attentive. My server told me that the wine bar has been open for a year and half. I would love to come back here with a friend to relax and have some snacks while we have a glass of wine. read more

From The artwork to that chandelier I was so I aww I can't believe how far Dr Chris and Chad have come (well I can believe it because I saw the footwork they both would put it when they would show up to my past job Alamar years ago) for them to to have their own is just a testament that you can achieve if you believe.. I love the people I came in contact with while I was there and most importantly I love the priceless conversations. What I love about this place is that it's laid-back and casual. A lot of wine bars can be a little stuffy but this one seems to be all about community and family. I've came here enough times to have met the lovely owner Chris Wachira and her associates Chadwick Spell and Marcel Anderson! I also loved that some of my friends highly recommended it with a strong emphasis on it being Black owned too. We had multiple flights for our group of 10-12 people and appreciated the stories that came along with each wine, especially in regards to tying its characteristics with an animal that could be referenced to within the room. Server constantly checked on us but also spread the pours as our group conversed. Great prices for food and wine. The cab and the Riesling were out favorites. Warm, friendly welcomes when you enter. This place is spacious and very clean. My only advice is if you have a group of 6 or more, they already add the 20% tip. Our server didn't let us know that when we split the payment 3 ways. We just tapped our phone on the handheld thing. I blame myself for not asking to see the receipt but when you come to support your own, you don't think to check the receipt. Anyways, we left a 20% tip on top of the tip already charged. Wachira Wines is such a vibe! I love the staff that works in this area and they have a Chardonnay that I absolutely adore (and I freaking HATE Chardonnay). So that was automatically a plus for me. The first time I went there, I was immediately greeted by one of the staff members who had a smile that was so inviting. I opted for the Red Wine Flight and I learned so much about the business, each wine and some pairings that could go with it. This is something I appreciate because I like to increase my wine knowledge game (lol). They also have food options. In the past year I've frequented this place, there have been some great changes! They started adding speciality cocktails, expanded their wine selection, opened up their shop to allowing kids to come (which I would prefer NOT to bring my kid but sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do hahaha), let you bring in food from the local restaurants and have tons of events to showcase their wines for the community, and for their members. It wasn't a hard decision for me to become a wine member on my first visit. As a member, you get tons of perks, one of them being a free glass at your visit, which I LOVE! Wow!! What a great experience. From the moment we walked in we felt so welcome with a great energy from the people working here. We made reservations to come here on Mother's Day and it was a great first experience. We usually travel to Napa but I wanted to stay local this year. Great decision. Chadwick and Marcel were there on Sunday. Marcel welcomed us in and Chadwick gave us a tour, told us about the wine club, and gave us great info about each wine during our tasting. We ordered a charcuterie plate which came pretty wrapped. I really liked that. It was a perfect compliment to our tasting. The location is great, we didn't have any trouble finding parking and the tasting room is beautifully decorated with African art. I can't wait to come back again. Came to check out this place on a Saturday afternoon- we made a reservation since we weren't sure if a walk in was the best idea ( was fairly busy but could have been okay with just a walk in) their website provides live updates. When you walk in you're welcomed by a friendly staff and a vibrant room. They gave us a full tour and some background and history of the business and the owner. Since it was the first time here we ordered the flights and got a cheese and meat board. What I loved: the music, the ambiance, wine selection and recommendations were great! We enjoyed ourselves as well as the wine and definitely a place I would love to come again when it can open to full potential without Covid measures. What could be worked on: Once we got our orders in the staff kind of forgot about us after checking in once to see if everything was okay. They forgot about out board which we had to remind them and had to flag and wait for our check once we were all done. Worth: you get your money's worth on the wine for sure but for the charcuterie meat and cheese platter I feel like it's underwhelming given that it is $10. They are prepackaged (which I appreciate because of Covid) but has me wondering if the portion would be the same if it were plated. It's almost like a lunchable in size by definitely better in quality! I give this place a 5 because of the ambiance, vibe, friendliness of staff, quality that you get and it's uniqueness. What's good about this wine bar?? EVERYTHING!! The location is great. The atmosphere is great. The Wine Is Great. Shannon and the rest of the bar staff make you feel very comfortable in the space. They are knowledgeable and they introduce you to something different all the time. I'd suggest joining the wine club because the pickup parties are amazing. Outdoor seating is very comfortable. You don't even feel like you're Outdoors because your servers are so attentive that you feel connected to the inside. Well considering this was my first visit to an establishment that a friend of mine often rave about, left me perplexed after my visit on April 1st. There were 3 of us, we walk in and was seated in the area where the restroom was located. I seen a familiar face that was on staff there and we exchanged greetings etc. Her shift was about to end, however she told us about the special of the day and poured us up. We settled tab with her after 2 glasses of bubbly, and she said that someone else will be taking over and we were okay with that. Well needless to say, our glasses stayed empty, I asked the staff if I could get a glass of chardonnay, I was asked if we settled the tab with Shannon and I told Dave or David that we did, because my sister and friend went walking on Park to find something to eat before they continued with libations. So I stayed behind. The weird part was, a table of 3 people that kept staring at us and we would casually give a smile, then we said that the vibes in there was weird and interesting especially when it was coming from folks that looked like us. So with me reading other reviews and my friend raved about this place was not the same experience for us unfortunately. However the decor was beautiful and the restroom was decent.
