This company had no regards for the neighbors of their clients. They ruined my yard and removed my gate from my fence, without my permission, all so they could remove a tree from my neighbors property. They showed up on the second day, at an unreasonable time and sat their chipper outside my bedroom window and started it up, again, with no warning to the neighbors. I called Karhu Tree service a few weeks back to have an estimate for trimming and removing some trees from my residential property. They were timely in responding to my initial inquiry and sent Brandon out to meet me, look at the trees and give me a bid for the work. I was clear I was thinking of having some trees removed, but that it might be down the line and that the trimming was a sure thing. The same day, Brandon emailed me the estimate and I responded that I would compare bids and get back to him. I did a few days later and asked to schedule the tree trimming but hold off on the tree removal. I didn't hear back. I emailed again one week later. I didn't hear back, still. Finally, I called and requested a call back regarding scheduling the work and still, no response. I am not sure if Karhu/Brandon felt the job was too small to do to be worth their time, but he presented very helpful in person but after the fact, I'm frustrated and disappointed to not even get a call back. I wouldn't recommend them for this reason. read more

Brandon and his team solved a bunch of our problems with trees in our South Eugene property. The first time we needed them was with winter storm damage, where one of our trees fell on our neighbor's house. We were so pleased with their work at that time, we hired them again for a bigger, planned project. One 100-foot douglas fir was rubbing against the roof of our house, another even larger tree was growing through our deck, had outgrown the hole the builder cut for it, and posed a danger to the house (what was the builder thinking?). Several other trees needed cutting down because they were sick, all big douglas firs that required careful felling to avoid poking holes in our or our neighbors' roofs. Brandon was knowledgeable about which trees needed to come down and which should be saved, as well as how to trim the remaining trees to improve their health. The whole team was very congenial and professional: showed up exactly when they said they would, worked hard, and cleaned up afterwards. As a very nice bonus, the cost was actually less than we anticipated (when does that ever happen?). Great experience with Karhu Tree Service. read more

We contacted them and got a quote the same day. The quote was very reasonable and the work was completed within days of receiving it. They took down a very large oak that was close between two houses. It didn't look like an easy job to me, but they took it down no problem. First of all these people NEVER answer their phones. I called them and left messages last summer and it took them weeks to reply. And I called them immediately back after they called and left a message to get an estimate scheduled and they never responded. Recently had a guy come to give me an estimate and he didn't want to do the job and recommended Karhu. I finally got them to come give me an estimate and schedule them to come do the job. The job required that my power be cut off so my wife had to take that day off because she works from home. I also had to take time off to be home for this job. This guy calls me less than 24 hours before the job was to be done knowing that we scheduled our work off and said they were caught up in emergency jobs, "double paying jobs" up in Salem and had to postpone my job, and would get back to me in a couple of days to reschedule. I called them back. No answer, of course. Left a message stating that I'm losing $100's of lost earnings for me and her taking the time off and not being able to get our work scheduled back in less than 24 hours. I guess his high paying emergency work was way more important than me and my wife's lost earnings. Plus as of this review. I have yet to hear one word from these people. It's been well over 2 weeks since He said he'd call to reschedule in a couple days. I would've expected at least some response about me losing so much money for him to cancel the job with little warning. I didn't want to give these people a bad review. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. But after waiting to get some response for so long. It's clear they don't give a damn that I lost so much money and they don't seem to care one bit about their customers. I would never, ever call these people for a job. read more

Great experience with this company. Scheduled an estimate for several trees to be removed. Brandon came over and gave me a reasonably priced estimate and I scheduled three trees to be removed. I received a reminder text for our appointment a few days before and the crew showed up on time! The trees were removed and clean up was done as well. Everything was great from start to finish. Very knowledgeable, very thorough and did an excellent job trimming up our prized massive oak tree. While he was up there trimming, He checked the entire tree for weak spots. He also climbed the tree without spikes. Overall we were very impressed and would use him again. Brandon and his crew were excellent! I had a big 60ft Maple Tree that had died and needed to be removed from my backyard. I got quotes from 4 different places (all were licensed, bonded, insured, and had good online reviews) and Brandon's was the least expensive. Two of the quotes were actually double what Brandon quoted me. The other guys had told me it was a very complicated and dangerous job. Brandon didn't seem worried at all though. He was very professional, great at communicating, and made sure I got what I wanted. He showed up on time, got the job done cleanly and quickly, and did an excellent job cleaning up.
