Cumming Shoe Repair & Alterations - Sloppy replacement on the heels

    Cumming Shoe Repair & Alterations

I went here to get a pair of boots re-soled and the heels repaired…read more When I picked them up, I noticed right away that one of the soles wasn't completely glued down so the owner took that boot to the back to re-glue it. While she was doing it, I noticed a new black smudge, which looked like some sort of black polish, down across the middle suede part of the remaining boot. When the owner brought the OTHER boot back she had also noticed a black smudge and told me that she had already attempted to get it out. She proceeds to take a "suede brush" and rubbed off the black smudge completely from the one boot (yet she had just told me she already tried to get it off??). She then attempts the other boot and rubs it down bare, rubbing off the suede completely in some parts. She tells me that I brought them in this way and proceeds to charge me the full price she quoted. After I leave, I was very upset because I know I didn't bring the shoes in with black all over them, which I found more and more of. I bought them from goodwill the week before and I incessantly examined them before I got them. I also showed them to my mother in law, my mother, and wore them once and fully examined them each time because I thought it was such a steal getting them at goodwill. I brought them back to the store and told the owner that I know the smudges weren't on there before (on the suede as well as on other parts of the shoe) and told her the above of just getting them at goodwill and examining them MULTIPLE times within the last week. She proceeded to do nothing for me and explained everything away, AND tells me that "when you buy from goodwill you don't know what you will be getting." Well, yes I did because I LOOKED at them before I bought them. Now, I'm not going to lose sleep over my six dollar pair of boots from goodwill (although once nice in their own time). However, I did bring them there to test out the place because we are really needing numerous pairs of very expensive cowboy boots to be repaired. Ultimately, the job was extremely sloppy. Black smudge ordeal aside, I still wouldn't take other pairs of shoes back there. Add in the poor character of the owner and her lack of integrity and inability to take accountability. Will never take my business here again.

It has taken me 5 months to decide whether to post a review of my experience at Young's Tailor…read more July of this year I took my wedding dress to the seamstress at Young's Tailor, to have the dress hemmed one and a half inches - nothing more. I picked up my dress on the day of my wedding (yes it was at my home, a small gathering of family and friends) , never dreaming something could be wrong with my dress. Unfortunately, when my daughters tried to zip me into my dress, over 6 inches of fabric had been removed from the shoulders, making the dress unable to even be zipped. I was standing in my bathroom with a gaping dress that could not be salvaged. Luckily, there was a large bow that was pinned in place with straight pens to try and cover up the gap. Of course, the important thing was I got married to a wonderful man in front of people who love me. However, the pain I feel when looking at the pictures is significant. I returned to Young's Taylor with my dress week attempting to figure out what had happened. The seamstress who did my alteration was present and was clueless as to what had happened. She did not apologize. I left her my business card and asked her to consider what needed to be done to compensate me for this error. I was not angry or rude. Unfortunately, she did not contact me. I went back to Young's Tailor and spoke with her again- with a receipt for the original cost of my dress and a receipt for the cost of the tailoring. I told her I felt she should reimburse me for the cost of the dress and for the cost of the tailoring. she stated she would have to consult her lawyer. I have never heard back from her. My disappointment in the lack of professionalism and ownership over this mistake is worse than the mistake itself. I will leave it up to you to decide whether to trust your most important moments to Young's Tailor.
