Breathe…read more After a few bouts of pneumonia and allergy problems, I was referred to find an ENT. Oh and a clogged ear. Did a Google search and read a bunch of reviews and chose Dr Kaplan. WIN. Made an appt and got in fairly easy. The office is in an older style building but very nice. The front staff are friendly and helpful. I recommend new patient fill out the forms online. Saves major time. Went in and Dr Kaplan worked his magic and cleaned out my ear and prescribed some meds. He asked me if I had allergy issues and said my nasal passages was blocked. He suggested a CT scan of the cranial something to see if I was a good candidate for balloon sinuplasty. He sent in a tech to help me with the insurance. Mine covers the $100 copay if I call for authorization. Apparently they did this quite often. After the CT, he showed me the blockage and we scheduled the procedure. The procedure was done a week later and it was magical. I could breathe better and sleep better. The only payment was $35 co-pay and then a $100 co-pay for the anesthesiologists. There was 2 after care sessions and I was good to go. Dr Kaplan is very professional and courteous. He gave me his cell number and responded promptly by text and call with answers. I appreciated that a lot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. After I saw him, I discovered that he is very well known and has done TV appearances. Wowza. Would recommend him to anyone that is looking for a professional, knowledgeable and caring ENT.

First time here, I didn't have any issues. The doctor gave me a medication. It kind of fixed the problem but I think the symptoms went away on its own. Other than a shocking side effects that almost sent me to the emergency room, I was back to normal. My second time here was to get an allergy test before they can formulate the serum for my allergy shot. Ok. This seems pretty simple. I followed the instructions to prepare my test. I didn't have to wait. The staff poked me a few times (about 82 times) and generated a report. Then, the doctor came in to explain the results and the next step. There were two options, daily drop under the tongue or weekly shots. I thought it was bothersome and expensive for daily dose, nearly $400 for 3 months. He said weekly shots are about the same price. Treatments would last 3 years or longer. I told him I can't do it now because I have some major events I need to attend. He said it would take time to formulate the serum anyway. I was happy that test was done with no side effects. But I am in pain for my wallet. Upon check out, I almost fall to the floor. They charged over $600, including copay for the test. I didn't get any warning. Ugh. I'm so upset and not going back again. I can't afford to get the shots, not even one drop. Tomorrow is the first, the rent needs to be paid. Update: a day later, I called my insurance company and asked them if this provider sent in my procedure for approval. The response was shocking. Nope. So, I removed another star.

My previous ENT just prescribed me antibiotics...for an entire year. I was getting so desperate that I found Dr. Fakhri through a medical journal search. he is a faculty member at UT Houston, as well as a practicing physician, and he has conducted significant research in Head/Neck issues. I sent him an email explaining my symptoms and he e-mailed me back the SAME NIGHT. a SUNDAY. that doesn't usually happen.... The first time I saw him he immediately diagnosed the problem, and had me in surgery to fix it within a week. I felt an instantaneous improvement and I am so grateful that I found this doctor. My quality of life improved drastically. He is extremely friendly and personable and will go out of his way to make sure you're getting the care you need. If you are experiencing severe sinus issues, I highly recommend Dr. Fakhri. He is toats worth the drive to the med center!!

What Dr. George Fisher and countless other ENT's couldn't do........ .....Dr. Fakhri did. I would have never met Dr. Fakhri had it not been for Dr. Bechhara Ghorayeb. Having been to a multitude of allergists and ENT specialists, the conclusion at least for me was that I was seen more as a "client" - not a patient. Merely relegated to someone to keep checking in every three months to pay for the office visit and be given prednisone. Just a routine customer. Hey it's all about repeat business, right? That all changed after a visit with Dr. Ghorayeb. My sense of taste and smell gone, he concluded I needed surgery to remove polyps that had created nearly 100% blockage in one of my nostrils. "But I've already had 2 surgeries for that, " I informed him. "Hmmmm this is a very delicate area in which to have repeat surgeries," he said, "And I'm afraid I won't be able to attempt yet another one." "But aren't you an ENT?", I asked. "Yes," he replied "but you'll need to see a specialist capable of navigating through something so delicate. Remember this area is incredibly close to your brain and eyes." He took his cell phone out and made a quick call right there while under his care. "When you go back up to the front, the receptionist will have an address and phone number to someone I suggest you see." The difference maker to me is Dr. Fakhri took a personal interest in my issue and made it a point to not prescribe yet another panacea to keep me coming back over and over. He inquired about my previous surgeries and I noticed surgery wasn't what he wanted me to go though but it might be needed. He tried every measure to prevent that but to make a long an already long story short - surgery was needed. The result was fantastic. And I'm happy to report I'm off all medications with the exception of being treated with aspirin and only 1 rinse a day of warm water mixed with Neil Med sinus rinse and montelukast powder. That's it. That's the maintenance. No longer am I a walking medicine cabinet. Since 2010, I can smell. I can taste. Even seasonal allergy flare ups are RARE. Life is good. So I don't know who to thank - Dr. Ghorayeb or Dr. Fakhri Did he change my life? You tell me.

It was the best decision I've ever made.

I'll start with the disappointing medical care I received since that is what most people will be…read moreinterested in, but the biggest reason I would advise you to stay away is the utter lack of competence of the office manager and how she continuously violated Dr. Smith's contract with Cigna insurance which I will explain later. Here are the issues with my medical care: - I asked point blank what the risks were and was told "just a nose bleed." Turns out after the fact I was told that I had a higher risk of headaches as a result of the surgery and would need another surgery to remove that risk (this would be a third surgery). Also, days after the surgery my nose bled so bad that I had to be rushed to the ER where I blacked out due to loss of blood. I had a second surgery that day as a result and missed an extra week of work. - My medical issue was partially fixed but not fully fixed. I needed a procedure from another doctor to get it resolved. - Recovery from the surgeries was brutal. Much worse than they prepped me for. Here are the issues with the office manager. This stemmed from an issue where she required me to pay ~$1,700 before scheduling the surgery and then refusing to refund the money after Cigna said I did not owe it. She avoided paying me back for 18 months despite me reaching out to the office on a weekly basis. - She cannot effectively delegate work to others and she herself is never available. She is the only one in the office I could talk to about this and I must have called the office no fewer than 75 times and only reached her about 7 times. She ignored my emails for months and the few times she did respond, she often starts her email off with "I didn't have time to read your email but here is some information" - Refusal to go through proper billing and insurance protocols. A lead analyst with the Cigna Senior Leadership Escalations group told me that her actions violated Dr. Smith's contract with Cigna. At first I thought she was a combination of overworked and incompetent. I still think that's true, but after about a year of dealing with this issue and speaking with more than a half dozen Cigna agents, I realized she just wanted to take my money without going through Cigna as she was required to. Every Cigna agent told me that Smith Sinus could not legally keep my money, yet she did. If she wanted to bill me more and keep the money, she needed to do that through Cigna and she avoided it for so long, they told her it was too late. Only once I filed a legal complaint through Cigna did she finally issue me a partial refund (I'm still waiting for a full refund that Cigna said I'm owed). - She said she would call Cigna to get it straightened out but didn't until I would ask 10+ times by phone or email. Even after speaking with Cigna she did nothing and I had to go through this process 3 or 4 times and sit on the phone while she spoke to Cigna. Still no action taken on her part to refund my money. - I filed a BBB complaint which Smith Sinus ignored- I had to file a legal complaint with Cigna against Smith Sinus. Cigna says these issues are resolved within 30 days but it took them closer to 90 before Smith Sinus gave me a partial refund due to how slow the office manager is. - Office manager said after a month of asking for it that she uploaded support for the short payment to my patient portal. I logged in and nothing had been uploaded. Upon follow up, she decided to ignore me. She refuses to provide any explanation for short paying me. - I have only spoken to this office manager and everyone at Smith Sinus with a respectful tone and respectful words but throughout this entire ordeal, no one has apologized to me. Smith Sinus is clearly in the wrong which they admitted to when they refunded me $1,200. No one seems to care about all the hassle they have given me. They do not seem to care about their patients and will do whatever they can to take your money even if illegally.

I have been seeing Dr. Horsefield for maybe 5 years now, and have noticed passive aggressiveness before... but what I recently experienced is clearly unacceptable. The results came in and the TSH levels were too low. I have since readjusted my medication and sent him an email politely asking if he could order the bloodwork to retest my levels so I can ensure i am now healthy and found the right balance. His response was callous. I have attached a photo with the passive aggressive response, where he makes it clear that he wont put the test in the system because he doesn't get paid for "answering emails, ordering tests, reviewing tests, communicating test results and maintenance of records" ..... REALLY? Aren't those tasks associated with being a doctor? I would be happy to pay him, for me it isn't about the money at all. All I need though is the bloodwork.... and he doesn't have availability for 2 months!?! I'm extremely disappointed that someone in the healthcare field is so much more concerned about their wallet than their patients health.
