I wasn't expecting world class service here, but don't let out your stress and anger on the customer. Came here on a whim while doing some shopping in this Asian plaza (99 Ranch, Miniso, etc. are also in this plaza). They sell quick service food in addition to Filipino snacks. I ordered the two entree combo with rice for $14. I got it with chicken adobo and pork adobo (the employee said these are their two most popular entrees). The chicken adobo was yummy and the sauce was great over rice. The pork abodo also had good flavor, but I would say both meats were over cooked and not tender. Perhaps they were sitting out. Also the food seemed a bit overly salted. Serving size was really generous and service was excellent. The employees here are very friendly. I know Seafood City is just down the street but sometimes it is nice to support small businesses. Based on other reviews it sounds like this place has been here for decades. Friendly service. Great selections and too many to choose from. Crispy bangus was my favorite. Not sure if everyone likes the flour/baking soda coating for extra crispiness. They also had a special adobo fish which I never seen at other Filipino restaurants. But in addition to the "turo turo" (point) style, felt like I was a child in a candy store. I would love to give Kapit Bahay 5 stars. We have been coming here since the early mid-2000s until we moved to Inland Empire. Our last visit this weekend, however, gripped my usual expectations of comforting satisfaction. We got the Corned Beef, Kare², Tinola, and different brands of Hopia. What surprised me was the pugnacious taste of the Corned Beef - it's at the edge of spoilage. Maybe I was just being over reactive so I kept quiet. The Kare-Kare's meat (tripe) were not soft. It was not sufficiently simmered that it could be easily chewed and swallowed, but the sauce and vegies are one thumb up. I hope they simmer the meat longer because this savory dish would end up in the trash. The Chicken Tinola is good. One complain is: there is only 3 very small bite-size pieces in it that the ala carte price would seem too expensive. I wish Kapit Bahay can make the adjustments, bring back the quality. read more

Its a small place that's a point-point (turo-turo) style. they have grocery items and cooked food in the same place. they have a long table that you can sit in and enjoy your food. they also have tables outside. Didn't really go around much but bought the 2 meal version. Everything looked good and freshly made. I ordered binagoongan and longganisa. Both are equally good and tender. I should've picked more meat for later but i had to try it first. The only thing thst i didn't enjoy is the turon. It's a bit hard. I noticed this little market/restaurant has been here for years and I finally tried it with a friend. The food here is "like what a Filipino aunty would make" - according to my friend who loves Filipino comfort food. My favorite item would be the lechon - crispy and fatty pork. My least favorite was the jackfruit and shrimp paste because it was (Pepto Bismol) pink and I believe it has an acquired taste. I have never eat jackfruit warm and pickled, so it was surprisingly different. Everything else was good and the flavors of each item compliment the other items. I'm surprised that they manage to stay in business. the food is expensive, the portions are small and some of the items tasted and looked like they were prepared and reheated from the day or a few days before. the XL ginataan bilo bilo ( a coconut cream dessert ) is $23.90. 25 pieces of shanghai lumpia is $22.50 which makes it almost $1 a piece ! the meat in the menudo and caldereta is tough and should have been simmered longer to make them softer. the taro root in the bilo bilo was not cooked fully and hard. if you need paper plates for take out order, they charge 25 cents per piece. like what a previous poster here said, they charge 50 cents transaction fee for debit card payment. I repeat: it's DEBIT card, not credit card which does not carry bank fees. I hope another Filipino restaurant will take over this place. this restaurant is a rip off and offers substandard food preparation. stay away ! read more

I really really love the lumpia here! I enjoy how they have a sitting place to eat in the whole store. Its in the middle and it gives you a chance to buy snacks and dessert before you leave. You are able to buy almost anything here, they have something for everyone. The reason for my less star was we had a lady help us and she wasn't too nice. I felt she was a bit rude when we asked about certain items as we are not Filipino. So of course its human nature to ask what things are! My wife and I go to this place in the past because it is close to our house. The first time we went we purchased a few items and when we went to pay, the cashier was rude to us. After we left we said we would never go back. It's been about a year and a half since we were there. Yesterday, we went back hoping they had new personnel. We bought a couple different items and some sweets and paid for it (which by the way same poor service and the price is more expensive). We left to take that food to a friend's party. I saw this Filipino fast food on our way back home. We ordered chicken adobo, kari-kari, fried fish, mung bean soup. We also got their two dish combo which is good. We also bought banana chips and some snacks. We tried all the food it was good. All of us love the chicken adobo, it was very tasty although oily. I just wished they cooked it with less oil so it won't overpower the entire dish. The banana chips was really good. Thin sliced plantain bananas that are well cooked and fried.
