    Kare-kare
    Dixie M.

$15 Kare-kare. No meat, only pig insides. How could you charge this much for trash? No flavor of peanut butter, mostly flour and food coloring. Many years ago, it was good. This is unacceptable! Parang pagkain ng baboy. This is what people in the Philippines feed their pigs. Left over from what they didn't sell the day before and dressed as a new dish the next day.

Horrible Halo Halo. 7.50 all ice. Cheap with ingredients.

Ordered a halo halo. This is what I got. Cup with ice, hardly any ingredients to make it a halo halo. 7.50 for ice and suger. Cheap on ingredients and they didn't even fill up the cup. Picture is the halo halo uneaten. If this is what the store is representing as Halo halo, they a ripping off their customers and giving the dessert a bad rep. Please treat you like customers better Kapit. This is not acceptable.

Adobo isn't supposed to be thick like this
    Krista L.

I was so happy to find a Filipino restaurant nearby. I wanted to like it but it was so disappointing. The adobo didn't look or taste like adobo and everything was so expensive! I spent $45 total for 2 (not so large) entrees and a tiny medium sinigang. I don't think it's Filipinos that make it bc it doesn't taste anything like Filipino. I won't be coming back. And the adobo was so salty! I threw it in the trash

The people who work here are so sweet. There's so many options to choose from and you can't go wrong with any of them. The food was really fresh and flavorful. I want to come here for every meal

I would love to give Kapit Bahay 5 stars. We have been coming here since the early mid-2000s until we moved to Inland Empire. Our last visit this weekend, however, gripped my usual expectations of comforting satisfaction. We got the Corned Beef, Kare², Tinola, and different brands of Hopia. What surprised me was the pugnacious taste of the Corned Beef - it's at the edge of spoilage. Maybe I was just being over reactive so I kept quiet. The Kare-Kare's meat (tripe) were not soft. It was not sufficiently simmered that it could be easily chewed and swallowed, but the sauce and vegies are one thumb up. I hope they simmer the meat longer because this savory dish would end up in the trash. The Chicken Tinola is good. One complain is: there is only 3 very small bite-size pieces in it that the ala carte price would seem too expensive. I wish Kapit Bahay can make the adjustments, bring back the quality.

    Longanisa and Lumpia
    Gladys P.

Wow, so disappointed. I wanted to support this Filipino store but seriously? Ordered longanisa (2 small pieces) and lumpia (she said one order was 6 pcs but she was nice and gave me 7). Then she charges me $13.50 because she considers that a 2-entree item! Didn't even get any rice!Probably not going to come back.

Pitiful portions like this on several BBQ sticks. :(

HORRIBLY STINGY PORTIONS! For many years, we've always ordered their catered BBQ sticks because they ARE honestly good! These past 3 times (even after requesting more meat to be placed onto the sticks!) we received SEVERAL sticks that were LITERALLY 3 INCHES of meat on them...2 bites worth! Ha! They used to be fair with their portions. Sadly that is not the case anymore. Time to order from somewhere else.

25 pcs /50 pcs of lumpia in a small tray, perfect for potluck

Average space in the sense it's rectangular & like any mom/pop hole in the wall. You step in, tables to your right going all the way back, & left front side has cash register, sweets display, & water dispenser while the rest of the left was the kitchen. Menu was straightforward but could benefit from having a description in case you're not familiar (like my BF). * Service: the reason I'm docking by 1 star. The lady was nice, but not very attentive, & it wasn't like it was busy. We needed to ask or follow up on 2-3 things. My BF was eyeing some dessert when we were first ordering but she didn't try to sell it to us ‍ * Food: surprisingly good as it was both our first time there. He got the adobo bowl & the chicken was tender/juicy & pretty much fell off the bone. I got the tocino plate & the meat was flavorful with just the right amount of garlic in the rice. We also got one chicken skewer & one pork skewer, which was a bit smaller than I'm used to but the smoky flavor & tenderness was spot on. My only issue was the portion compared to the price. * Final Thoughts: mom/pop Filipino food that is great on flavor but leaves something to be desired with customer service. Would recommend & will return again for the food. * Final Grade: B+ or 8.5/10

Also, the younger lady who serves can be inconsistent with prices or tends to upsell. If you find the grandma a little grumpy or rude, don't take it personally. It's not you--it's her.
