One of my favorite authentic Filipino restaurants in the area. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and upon arrival was met with a large line at the door. Parking and wait times on the weekends can get tricky so plan accordingly. Now for the food, Bicol Express: I do like my Bicol express pretty spicy but there was an unusual amount of chilis on this dish as you can see from the photo lol. Overall taste was still great. Adobo flakes: I LOVE dry adobo so this is a must have. Perfectly crispy, flaky, and garlicky. It's listed on the menu as an appetizer but I could eat this on its own with just white rice and be perfectly fine with not ordering anything else. Pork skewers: Slightly sweet and smoky pork bbq. Can't go wrong. Lumpiang shanghai: Another classic. Crunchy mini Filipino egg rolls pairs great with sweet and sour sauce. Sisig: Chopped pork on top of a hot and sizzling skillet. So good read more

I have never been here before and I took my daughter here for an early dinner. We drove an hour to get here, and came hungry and excited to try the food. We ordered Lumpia for appetizers, pancit palabok, chicken and pork adobo, and garlic rice. We ordered 2 Black Gulaman, and 2 halo halo. The Black Gulaman wasn't sweet, but it was good. The Lumpia was excellent and came out piping hot. The main dishes however, were a different story. The oancit palabok was soggy- basically over cooked. It also tasted too rich. The chicken and pork adobo was actually bland. It paired well with the garlic rice. I'm not really sure why I got a cut up bone in my food but I would suggest using boneless chicken. When I cook adobo I use boneless meat. The halo halo though- was worth it. I would come here again for the lumpia and the halo halo. Not sure about the rest of the menu. read more

I'm not sure why the ratings for this restaurant are so low. Gerry's Grill is a Filipino mom and pop staple! The servings are large, delicious, and well worth the price. The service is good and the food takes some time because they bring it out all together and it's piping hot! Note: Your whole party must be present to be seated. Spicy fried chicken wings - 100/5, this was on their new menu. My favorite entree I had, they must have brined the chicken in vinegar? Because it was tangy/sour and the spicy, salty batter was sooo MASARAP!!! I loved the flavor profiles! Pork sisig - 4/5, good flavor but I prefer the creamy version so I'll add some mayonnaise at home! Shrimp sinigang - 5/5, VERY tasty! I like how sour the broth is and not too fishy. Some good, some not as good. Calamares looks amazing but is just okay. Wasn't hot and was chewy. The Tortang Talong (eggplant) was very good. The pork BBQ skewers were overdone a bit but tasty with the garlic rice. Note that rice is not included with most dishes. White rice is $2.95, garlic rice is $3.50. The Pancit Canton was good but the shrimp looked old so we just removed them. The guy who greeted us at the door and seated us never said hello. Was professional but not friendly. I came to Gerry's Grill on a Saturday night with live music. Although the restaurant is rather big, the tables were all occupied and the wait was around 30 minutes. Because they were busy, service was good but not personable nor above and beyond. I tried the sisig. Personally, I prefer the fish over the pork because the flavor was more subtle but still tasty. It came with a mountain of rice, perfect for sharing family-style. The live band's speakers were extremely loud. The volume was so high to the point where my ears hurt and my party felt uncomfortable. I had to scream to speak with others. Service...it was slow at first but they did come in and check in on us for drink refills and additional ordering. We had the Pork Sisig, lumpia Shanghai, nilagang balulo , Torta, crispy pata, ube halo halo, and the Turon with ice cream. All were sooooooo good! I wish i could make my nalaga like that. Gerry's grill has really upped its game in the past year, with better tasting renditions of Filipino classics like kare-kare, sugba kilaw and adobong baby squid. The grilled and fried foods are also worthy of a taste though they can be dried out at times. The wait staff are unfailingly polite and you can basically hail any one of them for assistance. This is a huge place and we've been here several times to celebrate important family milestones. If I ever just want that little taste of my Philippine home, I come here. read more

Gerry's Grill is a Filipino restaurant located in Artesia. You could get all of the most popular Filipino dishes here; however, their signature dishes are their grilled dishes. Their grilled squid has a really nice combination of sweetness, chargrilled flavor, and chewiness that collectively makes a satisfying appetizer. My wife and I really enjoy ordering their nilaga bulalo as it reminds us of childhood. It's a beef shank soup that's simple and savory: it's just beef shank and vegetables in a beef broth. If we want a sour kick, then we get the sinigang beef shank soup. Both are comforting. Usually, I have to get a pork dish when we come here. If I want something a little sweet, I'll go with the pork BBQ skewers. Typically, my wife will want Lechon Kawali with the brown sauce or their chargrilled pork liempo, which is like a grilled pork chop. If you don't mind some fat, their crispy pata is huge, meaty, and fatty; however, I think that their pork sisig is hard to pass up as it has meaty and crispy bits that perfectly pair with a side of garlic rice. I don't generally recommend the chicken dishes. If you want something different, I recommend their bangus (milkfish); however, I can't usually pass up the pork. Normally milkfish has tons of bones and it's really hard to eat; however, they serve it boneless here, which makes it more enjoyable. The grilled milkfish is slightly sweet, savory, and pairs nicely with the salty tomatoes on the side. If you are a beginner to Filipino food, then lumpiang shanghai (aka the lumpia you see at Filipino parties) is usually a winner. I usually buy pork BBQ skewers with garlic rice and pancit bihon with crispy pork (rice noodles with pork and veggies) and call it a day! Gerry's Grill has something that can satisfy any meat lover or anyone looking for Filipino food. The only drawback is that it can have long wait times on the weekend, and their entrees are priced on the higher end. Made the drive from Northridge to Artesia to try this Filipino spot my friend kept raving about--and it was absolutely worth it. We ordered the kare-kare, bulalo, and their specialty pork sisig, and every dish was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I came here for a celebration, so we had quite a few people in our party. There are plenty tables to have large groups here, which would cater to large Filipino families. To be fair, as a Filipina, I never ate Filipino food outside of my family because mom and dad's cooking was always the best! We had quite a few people in our group that frequent this place, so we let them do the ordering. I just wanted to make sure I got to taste the lechon. The menu made everything look good as it had photos of the dishes. What they did not have photos of were the vegetable dishes, the description of these were hidden amongst the photos. Honestly, when the food came out, I had forgotten to take photos. Everything looked delicious! Since I didn't do the ordering, I'm not sure the names of all that we had. The lumpia was good, I took the vinegar from one of the other dishes to dip my lumpia in. We had numerous different pork dishes including lechon. There were two different squid dishes, a chicken dish and we ended it all with turon and ice cream. Order white rice or garlic rice to accompany the other dishes! While certainly a decent Filipino joint, as some of you know, this type of cuisine just isn't my favorite. The bbq pork sticks and chicken kebabs were pretty damn good, and the lumpia was appetizing, But other than that I really couldn't recommend any of the other dishes. The service was okay, but they never once came back to offer a refill on my drink or ask me how everything was tasting. To me that reeks of inattentiveness and lack of care. The same too with arbitrarily keeping our party out of the space we had reserved. Yes, we were a large party and, yes, we were winding down. But I still think we dropped a pretty penny for all of the thirty folks that were there. A little courtesy that maybe our Father's Day festivities wouldn't just stop on a dime at the whims of some imaginary timer would've been in order. As it was, it made me doubly sure I would never come back here. Or for that matter why would I let anyone I know that this place exists? The Baseline: For Filipino fine dining, the food the flavors need to be authentic with the flavors of the Philippines , the portions have to be properly sized, the service must be great, and the restaurant must be comfortable and stylish. Food: I have had several dishes in the past at Gerry's Grill and as a lover of pork this is a great place to fulfill that love. We did not have the Crispy Pata that I like from Gerry's but I highly suggest. For starters the pork Sinigang had a great tamarin flavor with large chunks of pork, okra, daikon radish, chilis, and string beans to make a delicious soup. I did get my standard Sizzling Sisig which is a staple when I come to Gerry's that is even tastier after you mix the egg into the sizzling pan it fries up into the pork mixture. The pork BBQ (which is really grilled pork... I am sorry but you can't call it BBQ without sticking it into a smoker for some hours) was tasty and charred to give that flame grilled flavor. The Inihaw na Liempo (Pork belly) was grilled to its bacon adjacent perfection. The Pinakbet (Filipino vegetables mixed with shrimp paste) was really enjoyed by my family but not me because of the shrimp paste. Also make sure to order your garlic rice to complement all your savory dishes. Service: The wait staff is busy and their service areas are large. They will need to be flagged down for other items, your check, and water refills. Ambiance: Gerry's is loud with a band on a Friday night so get your club ear resistance ready. The restaurant is a large dining area that can serve a lot of people. Big as in if you yell out "Tita" during a quiet moment you will get a hundred heads turning your way... that kind of big. I am a bit biast since it was one of the first filipino restaurants I tried while on my first trip to Manila PH. Yes their menu is huge, yes most items are worth getting. I like to describe Gerrys as they make a little of everything, and make it good. Their Bulalo is yummy, Sinigang is delicious, crispy pata is good, lechon kawali is good, garlic rice and their kare-kare is decent. What I insist is some of the best os their Pork Sisig. Sooooo good, or Sarap! Only thing missing is some calamansi and Labuyo. Other than that is my go to spot and a good filipino starter restaurant for friends that have never tried filipino food. I did not realize it but the Bangus came with a side of Eggplant Ensalada too. And I am glad it did! The salad of Jackfruit, tomato, onion w a mayo dressing served on top of a grilled eggplant. Just a fresh, light salad thats so simple yet tasty!!! The Bangus was the best Filipino Bangus Ive ever had!!! Boneless and split open and Grilled to perfection! The meat was so tender and juicy! Yes it was moist and not overcooked and dry like almost every other filipino restaurant!! 10/10 and highly recommend the Grilled Bangus!! In recent times, had lunch w/my mom during the week when it was just us and another table being served. We shared a milk fish in vinegar and spices, rice, kid's meal spaghetti w/fried chicken, and an eggplant dish. Food was A-OK and service was 3 stars. A second recent visit was with our family of 6 on a Sunday afternoon. I called ahead and was informed that it is 1st come 1st served. Our fam member that got there first put our name on the wait list and we were #4. It was maybe a 30 minute wait. Even during that in between lunch and dinner time, Gerry's is so popular on the weekends. Our fam got lechon kawali kare kare, beef kare kare, pancit palabok, sisig, rice, and a spinach dish. Oh my goodness, the crispy pork in the peanut stew (lechon kawali kare kare) tasted incredible. Between the 6 of us, there were no leftovers of this dish other than some sauce. The pancit palabok (noodle dish) was good. Not used to it with thin noodles. We were celebrating my mom's early birthday and she got a halo halo cup for dessert (has a mixture of goodies). There was a little bit of waiting for the server sometimes and we had to flag him down. Good though that they had someone else who fills the water glasses for the tables.. He did well to get my mom a complimentary ube ice cream scoops w/a bday candle. Server was nice and smiling, but often MIA. Gerry's Grill has 110 locations in the Phillipines, and 4 in the U.S. (San Diego, Houston, Bay Area, and in LA [Cerritos]). I much prefer it over another famous Filipino formal dine-in chain (Max's). We took our mom on a Monday afternoon before the dinner hour (we definitely eat earlier than we used to), and the food was good, though definitely more expensive than simpler local storefronts closer to us. Mom got a black gulaman ($6.50) as her drink and she really enjoyed it. It is a drink made of gelatin, reminding me a bit of boba. The three of us shared a meal of Chicken Inasal ($20.50 grilled, marinated chicken) with plain rice ($8.85 for three) and lumpiang Shanghai ($18.50). We really liked the Inasal, juicy and the grilling really added a wonderful flavor (almost like charcoal though I think gas was used). The color reminds me of a yellow curry, but it is definitely not that. The place really picks up steam at night, and just like their competition that has a large nightspot, their food prices remain relatively high to help pay for their space. read more
