I tried this fun thing called Hausgemachtes Öpfelchüechli mit Vanillesauce ... which is basically like fried apple rings with vanilla sauce. It was pretty decent, and not too heavy, but nothing to write home about. Also, I know Europeans have a different pace of life, but I kept trying to get the waiters attention (since we were in a bit of a rush) and he kept kinda just ignoring me or giving me one of those "yeah, yeah get back in your seat and i'll get to you when I get to you" kinda looks. There's a larger outside dining area if the weather is warmer. The service was very friendly- the waiter did speak English, but not fluently. They do have English language menus, so ordering was easy for us (I did have one semester of German, but that was more than 40 years ago so it did us no good). The menu consists of 4 appetizers, 4 entrees, and a few desserts. There's also a healthy wine & beer list. While the choices are somewhat limited, everything we tried was perfectly cooked & seasoned. I started with the Vegetarian ravioli; wonderful cream sauce! I had a local Amboss blonde lager, and my wife had a glass of Pinot Noir Rosé, also local (I didn't get the vintner) and both were excellent. I had the beer-battered Perch, and my wife had the Thai red curry. Both were magnificent - the Thai curry was full of flavor but not at all "hot" like in USA. For dessert, I had a light-as-air coffee mousse, served on vanilla ice cream with pitted cherries. Delicious! My wife had the Vegan chocolate ice cream, which is packaged- but excellent. The coffee and espresso with dessert topped off the meal wonderfully. Cost is moderate; even with wine, beer, appetizer, and dessert only about CHF 120 (about USD 144 right now). I've paid far more for much worse food and service. Schipfe 16 is a gem; well worth a visit.

I think, the Chez Fritz has the same owner than the Seerose, but I think at the Chez Fritz it's more sophisticated place and not as show-offy as the Seerose. It has a fine, but still cosy ambience inside. And a large terrace with a outside bar. During the summer, you can hang out it the lounge area and watch people and enjoy the drinks. The food is excellent: the food is fresh, Mediterranean, modern and yummy-ly prepared. The chef has officially 15 points in the Guide Michelin (according to the official website from Chez Fritz). Wine comes mainly from Europe, with focus on France and Italy.

The whole meal was bursting with flavor complexities that i couldn't really place or imagine. The pumpkin soup was creamy, savory, spiced perfectly and not overly salty. The smoked duck was also not overly salty, and you could taste the smokiness of the duck, while the skin of the breast wasn't chewy. The deer liver was seared, leaving the insides relatively raw. He asked if i liked cow, sheep, or goat, in which i said surprise me and he gave me a cow and sheep one. The cow I've reminded me of triple cream cheeses -soft in the middle and a little creamier on the outside. The flavor and textures were both apparent, but not overwhelming. The other was a sheep cheese, which was very pungent and very creamy and i loved. This was all paired with grapes, pear, and dried figs - a perfect blend of all flavors.
