PLEASE do not go here. At my first appointment I had the most unprofessional woman: I came to get my teeth checked out and cleaned, the lady that did the cleaning was very rude. Asked me why my teeth had so many cavities so I was honest and told her my depression was horrible for the past few years so I never had the energy or motivation to take care of myself. She straight up called me lazy. Then went on a rant about trans people (because I'm trans lol) and misgendered the patient she had before me, calling them confused. Then began to say things like "did you know people identify as animals and they put cat litter boxes in schools now?" Which is a blatant lie and just a thing transphobes believe and spread around even though u can literally Google it and see it isn't true. Second experience, which was the worst : I had one of the worst experiences getting fillings here. The guy doing my fillings did not stop or give me more numbing like I needed, it was the most painful fillings I've ever had. He went way too close to the roots on so many of them and it hurt horribly. He also did not file/sand(?) one of my back teeth down correctly after a filling so it stabs me in the tongue. Just a year or two after that I got a new dentist and got tooth infections IN ALL (3) OF THE SAME TEETH THAT HE PUT FILLINGS IN. My current dentist (who works at Dentistry of the Carolinas, PLEASE GO THERE INSTEAD) explained to me that he put the filing extremely close to the roots in my teeth so it was being irritated by them and caused an infection. I had to get three root canals throughout one year. I might have to get another one in another tooth that was done there. Please go somewhere else. read more

This has been my dentist office for over 15 years, but when it was taken over by a new owner/company, there was a change in customer service as well as dentistry. A couple of years ago after Covid, I scheduled my yearly exam and it went well. Loved the hygienist. However more recently the front desk staff has been rude and lack customer service skills. The dental hygienist I saw in January was not nice and made me feel uncomfortable as if she was judging me. Fast forward to more recently I had a few rescheduled appointments that I had due to work hours in the past few months. On the day of my rescheduled appointment, I was caught in traffic behind a car accident which made me late. I called and told the front desk and they stated ok. By the time traffic cleared I was 17 mins late. When I explained to the front desk staff that I was late bc of a car accident she rudely told me I was being dismissed as a patient. I had been a patient for over 15 years with no issues until the new staff and dentist took over. I do not recommend this office due to horrible customer service with rude front desk staff with attitudes, the dentist barely examines you on visits and the overall experience is horrible. read more

Personal answering the phones are not attentive and very rude. Staff answering business phones are crucial to one's business. I've contacted this place today and the young lady was nonchalant and passive. I had appointment back in May that was canceled cause Dr.was not in office they had wrong -# on file that was previously updated. Told me I'm no longer a patient....why ...since when? Not satisfied with my experience today. Teach staff answering the phones. Had to call twice the first time while on hold they hung up! Not my fault u don't have the correct info. Lady today asked me have I been there before...I said yes.Then she went on long rant how my 2dt time there I can't get teeth cleaned. Goes to show not listening. Then they call and say nets were read incorrectly. And scheduled an appointment. Will update read more

I wish I could give them ZERO stars. They messed up my teeth bad. I went in and did about 6 appointments to get cavities filled, because they only do one to two at a time. Anyway, right after the last appointment like maybe two weeks after, I had three fillings come right out! I don't eat food that would be hard on my teeth. So I couldn't understand why this was happening, but immediately, I was upset, I feel like my teeth are ruined now. I immediately started to clam up, because I was upset and embarrassed at this point. I had already spent five separate trips for fillings. So my teeth literally went from, needing a fair amount of dental work, to now I don't want to open my mouth around people. Basically, I had been extremely depressed and out of a bad relationship and I neglected my own self care, which is what got me to the point I needed the dental work. It's already hard enough to go in and get dental work when you get to that point, but they didn't seem to really know how to deal with me in an understanding and gentle way either. So, by the time I thought I had fixed everything, the fillings started coming out. Too embarrassed and upset to go back to even attempt to get this fixed. I'm going to finally another dentist, and hopefully I can save my teeth, I really am not sure at this point though, because so much damage has been done. I do not recommend at all. read more

This is the WORST Dentist I have EVER been to! I got a cleaning a few weeks ago when I told the dentist I had a filling I thought was loose and was having some pain. The dentist examined the tooth and told me the filling didn't look loose but did have a very small chip that he could repair. I set up an appointment to have this. I go into that next appointment at which time the dentist examines my tooth again and takes pick to it and states the filling is not loose and asks me to try Sensodine toothpaste and gives me some samples. Less than a week later I'm in lots of pain everytime I eat or drink anything. The toothpaste isn't helping. So I call back again to set up an appointment and they told me it would be a week because the dentist is on vacation. So today I go to this appointment they do xrays. Someone comes in to examine me. Weird, this isn't the dentist I saw before. The man examines me and tells me he thinks they can fix it. BUT....the dentist is out of town. So please tell me why they would have even set up an appointment for an emergency filling replacement if the dentist isn't even in the office. Why is the office even open of the dentist isn't there? This place and this dentist is a complete FRAUD. They are making unnecessary appointments in order to get more money from insurance claims. I do not suggest anyone go to this place. read more

I was at the dentist today . I think the young girls are very nice and the doctor. but I had some older lady come in because I am hard of hearing and she was very rude!! told me i needed a full set of x-rays for a consultation. then she said very abruptly " are you here for a consultation or a tooth ache. I said it was because of a tooth ache. she rolled her eyes at me and walked out!! very un-professional. I cant help that I am hard of hearing but she should be a little bit more understanding that I had a hard time hearing the girl!! very disappointed in her. Maybe she should find a job that she is not in direct contact with people. read more

I came to Kannapolis Universal Smile because of all the great reviews I read. I was very surprised about the atmosphere in there. I'm not sure where all these 5 Star reviews come from but I didn't have a 5 star experience at all. I assume people were leaving positive reviews because of the sign they had in front of the office saying, "If you leave a positive review you get a chance of winning $100". Some staff was kinda rude and short with me but not everyone, not sure if this girl was the dental assistant or hygienist but she was nice. Dr. Dunn however, was knowledgeable but came in with an attitude. Really no bed side manner at all. After examining my mouth he was being a bit snippy while correcting my misunderstanding of which tooth needed to be removed. read more

My step daughter first came here about a year ago and then again in the last two weeks. The building is a little worn down but the service is really fine, especially if you can't afford anything better which is our case. I have nothing truly bad to say about the experience because my step daughter is treated very nicely every time she comes but our first experience last year was a little off. My step daughter was being serviced right next to another patient, and the dental assistant was loudly making fun of another patient's teeth and was calling other assistants over to look. This felt strange but my step daughter has been treated nicely and was serviced well these past weeks. We will most likely be back. read more
