The library staff are friendly. If you go there often enough, they will know you by name. They have…read morean abundant adult and children's section. They have audio books and DVDs. Often you can find something to read or listen to because it will be marked as 'new'. Depending on what everyone likes, they will purchase books accordingly. They have a small coffee bar near the entrance, and two multi-purpose (not like gyms) rooms also near the entrance in the vestibule, and have several restrooms, the main ones located there in the front. We have been coming here for years. Directly across the street from BUGC, (Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center), which serves children 7-8 grade, so many children come here after school to hang out and be picked up by a parent. The only things I dislike are a.) No video games for my pre-teen, unlike Bradley Library, and b.) Not a lot of teen programs. The teen section is the size of a small bedroom: the programs are practically nonexistent as they focus on younger children (who also have a very large book section) So, if I had to choose, I'd pick the Bradley Library, which is across the street from Tri-Star Martial Arts studio and a car wash. Unlike some libraries, the set up is ideal, so there are quiet spots away from the children's areas and public computers. I'm there a lot writing, and am rarely disturbed by other patrons in the little back area with the study tables. The nonfiction book selection is good; they even have a technical manual that I thought would be hard to find. As a mom, I've also been very pleased with the programming for youngsters! Between 6 and 18 months, it's hard to find activities that are age appropriate, but they have great story time for the little guys! I love the cafe on site. It's rarely too crowded, everyone is friendly, and the coffee is pretty good. My only caveat for this library system is a poor e-book database. However, I'm assuming there's not much of a market for the e-books in the area, but hopefully that will grow as more people adopt the media.

I love the free give-away things to make and spices to cook with. The front desk people are very helpful with any questions I may have. I absolutely love the donation day things, to both clear my drawers, cabinets and craft areas of unneeded items and see if I want any new ones from others. I have found so many gems there. My thanks to the people who set that up. And the computer lab is also wonderful. So glad to be visiting there often, including the free borrowing of puzzles in the front area.

They seem to take good care of the cd and dvd collection. There's usually some extra stuff going on at the library. They have a huge community bulletin board of events. Every 2-3 months they host a blood drive, and there is always a craft and a scavenger hunt available for kids. With your library card you also get a limited membership to Hoopla and Kanopy, for digital resources. There is an automatic renewal if no one has reserved the item and a generous grace period.

Well, yes, it's JUST a library, but I've been in numerous libraries in my lifetime and I must say…read morethis one is the best by far. Extremely clean, neat and orderly. The staff are exceptional, friendly and go above and beyond to help you with anything -- if they don't have it, they do everything they can to get it for you! They offer tons of special get-together from book clubs to tot-reading meeting groups. They have this thick reference binder with lists of "Like" authors that I've never seen before -- for example, if you love to read books by John Grisham -- you like his style, but you've already read everything he wrote, the reference binder they have up at the front desk (You'll have to ask) has a list of authors that write similarly (either topic or style) to John Grisham (or any other MANY MANY MANY authors). If you are like me and often wish for a place to just "get away" from your home, kids, or husband (but can't afford to run off and hide in Jamaica), then come hide out here! Since it's a library which requires the ambiance must be quiet and peaceful, you have the perfect excuse as to why you didn't answer your cell phone ;-)
