From reading the other reviews, the girls might have just been having an off-day today, but experiences can make or break a small business.
I scheduled my two dogs to be groomed a couple months ago, and purposely stayed home from work to do so. Jennifer was very accommodating, and agreed to come in early to get them both done so I didn't need to miss too much work. No one was at the shop when I showed up for my appointment, so I called and left several messages asking her to call me back. She did, about an hour later, and offered to have her and the other groomer work on my dogs to get them done faster. They both looked fantastic, and for the inconvenience, she offered to give me a discount on my next grooming.
I called yesterday and asked if she had time for them first thing, to which she said the 9 o'clock slot had already been filled. I said that was okay, and I could schedule something next weekend. She then offered to come in at 830, and have the other groomer work on one while she did the other, because she didn't remember them "taking too long". I thanked her, let her I know how much it was appreciated, and agreed.
When I brought them in today, I specifically asked that my Corgi-Australian Shepard get his "sanitary area" buzzed. Jennifer and I had an actual discussion about exactly what I wanted, because she believed "you can never ask too many questions" about this particular request.
She let me know that if I didn't hear from her before then, to come back at 10 and pick them up. I got a call around 930 saying they were ready, and was asked if I wanted them to have bandanas, to which I said "yes please!" (because they always look so cute, you know?). When I picked them up, I was told it would be 80-some dollars. Shocked, I asked if she wanted to give me a discount because of last time, not wanting to bring up the fact that she already completely missed my previous appointment in front of her employee. Jennifer then said something like "oh yeah" and asked Angie to take off $15, because I had paid ahead? I don't remember that, but if I did pay ahead, I wouldn't agree that would also be the discount...
I paid the $65 and was also told that Jennifer found a dead flea on the Corgi-Aussie, and recommended I put them both on something. I explained that my oldest dog was on a treatment, but I haven't find anyone in the area who carries the same brand, and I really liked it. She recommended a clinic in Paddock Lake, and I left.
When I got home, I realized the dogs didn't get bandanas, and my dog's backside wasn't cleaned up AT ALL - two things that were distinctly talked about. AND, what caused me to write this review, I just found a tick the size of a kidney bean on my border collie's shoulder. A dead flea was found on the fluffier dog and prompted Jennifer to talk to me about preventative care, but a tick went completely missed?
I think I'll just save my $80 next time and continue washing them myself. read more
