If I could give negative reviews I would. The company is terrible. They have a 24 hour cancellation rule which is fine. However when drivers are running late and don't plan pick up accordingly I am still responsible for paying. So multiple drivers on several occasions accept the ride only to call and say they will be arriving 30-45 min late so then the driver will cancel the ride and then I end up having to pay. The company refuses to refund the money and keep charging my account. I have brought this up to the company however they refuse to refund. They are very try quick to charge the credit card. He sat out in front so long, the secretary brought him inside and to my class. Now the day of the ride I didn't get any notifications except a Covid notification. They claim a driver came but we were a no show? Did you see a kid looking lost looking for a ride? He had a screenshot of the driver information and he's 14- so he's not a little kids. Did you think to go to the secretary or inside the school and ask? Seriously I was working and there were no notifications until I filed a depute. And now it's the we show this.. Just because you show it doesn't mean it's true. Your driver may have said they came to the school, but they didn't. I've heard better things from hop,skip,drive- so I will look into them. The driver from Kango ran over my daughter's foot when she dropped her off at school. This happened in February of 2022 in Los Angeles. I have been trying to resolve the issue for the last 2 years. I have contacted Kango several times and their insurance company that is supposed to be handling it. No one responds! I should have looked at the reviews prior to booking. I was charged for a ride we didn't take. Ride was 25 minutes late, my kid walked home and I was charged. I wrote customer service 5 days ago with no reply. The rates increased with out any prior notification and My charge was over $30 to travel 1.1 miles. This is such poor service for working parents. You rely on this ride share service for working parents trying to get to themselves to work and kids to school. But to have your child's ride get cancelled 1 hour before is poor practice. Their rule is you have to cancel 24 in advance for no charge but yet they can cancel at the last min and no consequence. I'm a single working mother and have requested multiple times for someone to pick up my kid. Apparently there's a lack of drivers because no one is available to pick him up. When I was able to finally get a ride for my child, one of the drivers Mohammed, looked at my son and drove off without stopping and canceled the ride. Years ago, I needed a weekly after school driver for my daughter and used Kango. There was a problem with the driver, and the owner took full responsibility for it. Since then, I've heard bad things about other child transportation companies and always thought of Kango as the paragon of professionalism. Recently, there was an unexpected transition in my family that required me to find a regular driver for my daughter so I of course thought of Kango. A good friend of mine told me that her children took Kango to school every day, and the company had arranged for them to always have the same driver. That was what I wanted too, rather than a different driver every day. When I posted the job on Kango, I noted that this could become a regular job (i.e., occurring daily for the rest of the school year). I received notification that my rides for Monday and Tuesday were confirmed. Later on Sunday, I received an email that my subscription had been cancelled for breaking their rules. They interpreted my noting that it could become a regular job as meaning I was trying to hire someone directly without going through Kango. That was not my intent and had never even occurred to me. I immediately wrote to them, explaining that I had meant a regular job through Kango and included a transcript of the discussion with my friend for context; they did not reply. My friend, a longtime regular customer wrote to them; they did not reply to her. I sent an email asking if they would respond to my first email; they did not reply. My husband had to stay home from work for two days because they had canceled the "confirmed" rides. I waited over a week before posting this review, to give them a chance to reply, but it looks like I've been ghosted. I no longer consider Kango the paragon of professionalism. Deliberately canceling confirmed jobs on short notice (based on a misunderstanding) and not responding to emails is not professional. If you use Kango -- and I freely acknowledge that they are more reputable than some of their competitors -- I advise you not to write anything in the notes field that could be misinterpreted, since they are judge, jury, and executioner, without appeal, and have no qualms about canceling "confirmed" jobs. read more

I had the worst experience with Kango. They failed to pick up my child from school and call me about that. The app has a systemic flaw in the client journey that leads to assigning an unavailable driver. And the proper way to notify parents in case of this event. DON'T RISK! Long story long 1. I sent a request to the usual driver and it was accepted. 2. On the pickup time my app shows me that the driver is different due to the flat tire of the first driver. 3. Kango switched drivers (with only texting me IN app = no notifications on my phone. And of course without my consent). This is weird, but no calls or other notifications are provided. (A text would be helpful, at least it's visible, unlike "something inside of an app") 4. The second driver could NOT confirm the ride, but Kango STILL assigned him! Result? No one picked up my child. The worst part - I only found out about that: a) 30 min after the pickup time b) from school, not from Kango. I cannot believe this - It was so easy to prevent. A single text to the parent. It's not Uber, they work with kids, and they cannot afford to get the little client to wander off in the parking lot. Guess who does the customer service blame? Of course, the parent failed to respond to the second driver (hello guys, some parents work in professions that don't allow to react immediately). No apologies, no calls, no attempts to fix the situation. And I've been charged, of course. Don't risk. do not use this company for service or employment! they are extremely unprofessional and not equipped to even be opperating as a company. ive been working for them since may and still fighting for my paycheck i earned! they operate off of a app and tracking system which will never accurately track your miles and even though i drove over 200 miles a day for them they have never been able to track my miles even though they hired me to drive long distance. im still fighting to get paid so i finally quit the company and they have stopped responding to emails and text messages because they do not have a working phone so people can actually call them outside of disposable numbers because they do not want to be bothered. they are a very shady company i highly suggest looking elsewhere for service and employment. read more

We tried Kango for the first time this week. Our experience was less than ideal. After speaking with a representative we set up a ride a few days out so as to give them time to find a driver. He suggested that we immediately go into the chat to remind them about our ride (weird, but ok) which we did. They contacted us the day before asking if we had flexibility with our time and I explained the school requires drop off no earlier than 8:00 am and no later than 8:20 am. After 10 pm the night before we got a message in the Kango app that no drivers were currently available for our ride, "but may become available tomorrow and we will contact you tomorrow morning." Note that we all go to bed at 9pm so we did not see this until the next day. As soon as I saw this I posted to Kango asking if they had found a driver. No one ever got back to us - ever. Not in the morning and not in the afternoon. No response. Thank God this was a test run. Had I been in New York, my 10 year old would have been sitting home alone all day. This company has been running me around. Kept telling me to call back and when I've left messages, no call back. When I do speak with them, they say they'll call back next day and doesn't. They tell me to go on the App but the app doesn't do what we need so they said to call back to talk to them, but when I talk to them, they say they can't help because I have to go the App. This is really sad for a company that is needed to be reliable, and that's just staff. Instead of stressing over traffic in San Francisco and being late for evening pickups, as well as just the sheer time wasted, we can focus on staying at work normal hours and then having quality time as a family. We had one ride in Kango, when Zum could not find a driver, and both me and SO could not make it. That ride was good - thanks to Kango. This one star review is for the fact that this is a SUBSCRIPTION service. Every month, regardless of use, there is a $9 charge. There is an initial email that tells you about it when you sign up for an account, but honestly, I did not read it. Subscriptions - when they do charge you - should send you an email receipt (my expectation). There is no indication, or "notification" from the app saying "we charged you". It does list in "history". There is no easy "cancel my subscription" button, you need to chat with their service or call them to cancel. read more

If you love and cherish your child, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY to transport your little one. I was on 880 going southbound and got cut off by one of their driver. As I'm going down 880, I noticed the vehicle weaving in and out lanes trying to go faster even though it's 8:45 am in the morning and there's plenty of cars on the highway. Wow! Just witnessed something that happened regarding someone driving the Kango van. Today is Thanksgiving night/Black Friday. I was at the Stoneridge Mall at Pleasanton CA. It's been raining all day and the parking lot is wet. It's also very busy and parking spaces near the entrances are few.The following incident happened around 30 minutes after midnight! I saw one of these Kango vans parked in an EV charging parking space at the Stoneridge mall in Pleasanton. The charging cord was plugged in but it's not charging. Either they're done charging or they're not charging but just parked at the EVGo parking spot for convenience. Either way they were inconsiderate enough to take up an EV charging station and others could not use. Then I saw two ladies returning to the van with some shopping bags. They unplugged the charging cord and left it on the ground next to their van! ON THE WET GROUND! BETWEEN PARKING SPACES! Then they just started the van and drove away! As they were driving away, someone who saw what they did yelled to them to ask then to plug the cord back to the station. But they just drove away! Whoever was going to use the charging cord next would have run the risk and deal with a wet cord which these two ladies proposely left on the wet ground! If inconsiderate individuals like them are connected with Kango, I wouldn't trust them to transport my lunch much less my love ones! Big thumbs down! We are new users of Kango in the South Bay Area and highly recommend this transport service for children (think Uber/ Lyft for kids). I have to use this service due to a schedule change at work and daughter's after school activities. Sometimes it really does take a village! I requested female driver to pick up my middle school age daughter and the drivers have all been careful. I like the locator feature so I can track the car, and I can send a message to the driver if I need to. read more

Wow. First time using Kango today to pick up both kids and take them to an afterschool lesson. Driver was late getting first child. Was confused and waiting int he car (???) rather than going in to sign child out. Arrived 30 minutes late to the afterschool lesson. Driver called me again upon arrival asking me where the person was to receive the children (??). I had hoped that this company would be professional. I knew it was too good to be true. The app is terrible - keeps freezing up and no interface with my computer so can only follow map (which is shown in spurts rather than in real-time movement like for Lyft/Uber). It was a waste of an outsourcing effort as I remained worried the whole time wondering what was happening. The Customer Service person was nice and apologetic, but this experience does little to provide confidence that their carefully vetted drivers/sitters would pass my criteria. read more
