This company fraudulently took my card info and charged an absurd amount for absolutely doing nothing. I tried to book their services, which they never provided. Later, they charged me for absolutely nothing. What's worse - they actually tried to justify it and called me a liar. I took that personal. Normally I'd give these folks a 5 star review, but I discovered a real flaw in their system. If silverRide takes early before opening appointments they need someone on call in case of problems with the pick up. I was confirmed for a 6am ride to a hospital for a heart procedure, BUT the driver did not show. No one was on duty but the answering service; they were of no help, just telling me they aren't open yet. Later I received a voicemail stating the driver's wife had an emergency at 2am that morning and could not show up. These things happen and I do hope the driver's wife is well, but not having a person on call for just such situations created a real problem. All it would take is one person on call from closing to opening to cure the problem. Otherwise, don't take early appointments. read more

Inadequate Training for Serious Responsibilities: The required course touches on healthcare topics, which is fine, but it's not genuine hands-on training for the physical transfer assistance you're expected to perform. This is concerning because: Misleading Job Description: I was initially told all clients would be ambulatory and capable of self-transfer. However, I later learned drivers are expected to perform intimate physical transfer assistance from wheelchairs to vehicles. This is: 1. A specialized skill requiring proper training (which isn't provided) 2. A significant liability concern 3. Beyond the scope of a standard transportation service 4. My fiancé received a call back on a job he had applied for back in December. (He went through all the requirements before starting the job & then was told "nevermind") Fast forward to yesterday (2/29/24) in the afternoon he received a message asking if he'd still be interested. After talking it over we considered getting a van for him to do this (all of our current cars are too small, which was even mentioned initially) as we are both currently in the medical field and find this would be beneficial. However, as you can see he was given NO TIME to respond and ZERO patience to work with. She was told he is currently on call with his current job and would get back to her some time today. (He looked at vans for an hour last night, thanks for wasting his time...twice.) The service uses an answering service for booking pickups. I called the number given me by a nurse at my doctors office to schedule a ride following my surgery as It was recommended that I not use an Uber ride following surgery. The answering service misunderstood where I was when I arranged for a pickup the next day. After arriving at my surgery center the next day, the nurse called SilverRide to coordinate the time of pickup. It turns out the " answering service " misunderstood " where I was located and didn't actually connect me with the actual SilverRide service. When SilverRide was contacted by the hospital for coordination of my ride , they stated "they had called leaving a message and stated they didn't service the area where my hospital is located "( Marin County). The "answering service" led me to believe I had a ride scheduled. I checked later.... There was no message left by anyone! The service gets an " 0" from me. This got the job done, but I wasn't blown away. I had to get home from a medical procedure under anesthesia, and I didn't want to bother friends or family for a friend. Silverride recommended by the surgical center, so I used them. They fulfilled the primary function: they got me home. They also were able to tolerate it when my release from the surgical center was delayed by an hour. But I wasn't thrilled. The driver was late, about 40 minutes late, which wasn't ideal. Silverride didn't proactively let me know; I had to call the dispatcher, and when I called at 10 minutes after my appointment time, I was told the driver would be there in about 10 minutes. It was actually about 30 minutes. The driver went to the wrong location but fortunately a nurse was helpful in helping me find the driver. The ride was nothing more than an Uber/Lyft (except that the Uber/Lyft app is more reliable and provides more information about the location of the driver and the timing of the ride etc.) I don't really understand why the medical center prefers Silverride over Uber or Lyft; I saw no benefit that was apparent to me from Silverride, and they cost more ($50 flat rate). Seems like a holdover from some past practice. But if you have a requirement from a medical center to use non-emergency medical transport of some kind, Silverride could be an option. read more

My mother in law was dropped off last Friday in front of our front door of our home without our knowledge. Driver did not call the family and allowed her to be there unattended. I'm very upset to see how someone can just leave an immobile elderly person in their wheelchair, alone at their house, knowing they are not able to move and tend for themselves. There should be a protocol in place, of what to do when scenarios like this happen. This is truly a liability factor. How about if she had fallen off her wheelchair, if she was dehydrated from the heat, or any random person could have easily robbed or hurt her and no one would have known. I called 4 days ahead of cancer surgery to guarantee a ride. Surgery was scheduled in a hospital 2 hours south. All phone calls to SilverRide responded with voicemail saying someone will answer your call in 24 hours. Within that 24 hours I was spammed by dozens of robocalls and unknown callers. SilverRide needs their drivers to call back with the SilverRide logo because my phone was on block unknown callers mode. None of those calls were from a local area code. My SilverRide confirmation' came in my email which was lost in dozens of junk email and donation pleas. At that time I was stressed about cancer surgery and needed to hear a confirmation from a human voice via phone call labeled SilverRide or a text confirmation. Day before surgery I panicked and begged a relative to take off work to pick me up from hospital. Just before his arrival a human voice called post op recovery nurse saying SilverRide was on the way. I cancelled and had to pay the SilverRide fee anyway. My nephew already drove from 2 hours away because I never got a SilverRide text confirmation or a human voice confirmation. I was charged the $45 fee after being stressed by cancer surgery and communication confusion with SilverRide. I AM 77 years old, it would have been helpful to know that this business has an app. I live 2 hours north of SilverRide. Communications might have been easier if SilverRide had an app. There is no app in my iPhone for SilverRide. read more

I have used SilverRide 3+ times to pick me up from outpatient procedures and have never had the experience promised. Not only do they charge $40 to deliver me to my home which is less than a mile from the surgical center, but also they are always 15-30 minutes late. I've called each time to let them know and they continue to do nothing to improve the service. Today my experience was even worse. I called SilverRide when the driver was not there on time and the gentleman I spoke with said the driver was coming from an hour away - where he lives and will be 15 minutes late. I mentioned that this happens each time, and that's why I deliberately tell them to get me :15 early! He actually blamed the surgical center and said they said I would not be ready. I asked the front desk and she said that was false. I also mentioned to him that the drivers just drop me off on the sidewalk. He seemed horrified and said that they are paid to escort passengers from the car, help them unlock doors and continue up stairs. I said that has never happened. Well, today the driver dropped me off on the wrong street. A cross street, up a very high SF hill where stopping is illegal and there is no place to pull-over. I asked the driver why they weren't dropping me off at my address and they said it was the fault of GPS. So I had to hurry out of the car under anesthesia as we blocked a lane of traffic and then navigate a steep hill. AFTER SURGERY. I don't know why the surgery center uses them because I have mentioned lack of care before. The crappy thing is the surgical center won't let patients use UBER or Lyft, even though Uber has a special Uber Care ride you can request, where they actually assist the patient!!!! It's insane to pay $40 for a 5 minute ride and then be dumped off on the wrong street while under anesthesia. DO BETTER. read more

This was an okay company to work for but the last couple of month have been the worst ever since they got that new dispatcher Diana. She unprofessional has childish ways and has been creating a hostile work environment. She takes drivers off the schedule when she feel they aren't doing what she wants them to do or if they don't do a trip she but on there route that are an hour or so late. She doesn't answer the phone or send the phone numbers when you ask for then when you need to reach the client. I really don't understand how a company doesn't care and allow there business to be run like it is. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE. Diane is creating a hostile and stressful work environment and that's why folks are quitting. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DON'T HIRE THIS COMPANY......today, after having made a reservation and silver ride confirming, silver ride ignored me for 5.5 hours. pickup was supposed to be at 10:30 they finally arrived at 3:30pm. although they were notified i would be late, i (and the hospital) made no less then 6 calls trying to be picked up. dispatcher lied to my face 3 times saying they were on their way x3 and the hospital told them i would not be discharged x2 for an (outpatient procedure). even the driver said: "i trade stocks everyday, until they call me for a job, i was just called." 5.5 HOURS late- and they had the nerve to charge me. for a ride that is 4X the cost of calling a car. never again. read more

I suggest calling the 1800# instead of using the online form-I didn't get a confirmation from the form but one phone call and my reservation was made and confirmed by email. My appointment was over at least 40 minutes earlier than expected but the driver was available to come when the receptionist called. The driver was polite, helped me to the car and to my door. I didn't want to take to asking friends who were still sheltering-in-place. So, I did a Google search and found Silverides. They are very affordable, great service and they're insured and bonded as a ride after surgeries/doctors appointments, specifically by Kaiser. Believe me, I tried to state my case to my doctor to have an Uber pick me up and take me home after my surgery. I'm glad I found Silverides it was a great experience, especially after being so anxious and stressed as to who was going to pick me up. Diana my Sliverides' driver was on time, waiting to help me into the car, made sure I was comfortable, and we had the greatest conversation to boot! When I arrived at home she helped me out the car and took my belongings in. So, for anyone who lives solo and is having a heck of a time finding a ride after a surgery or doesn't want to inconvenience friends, or simply doesn't want anyone in your business! I booked them, was exposed to Covid and omicron the night before my scheduled colonoscopy, told to quarantine....I cancelled my colonoscopy with NO PROBLEM, these ...whatever's...brigands....charged me because they "didn't get" ,listen or care about two messages left with their service...... I'm not quite a senior, but the surgery center required a ride back that didn't include me driving and after having anesthesia, SilverRide was not only a good choice, but the best one. I was met by the head of operations of SR after my procedure. Service is professional and courteous offering door-to-door service that provided a safe alternative to cabs and even UBER'S beta assisted service. SR screens all drivers that includes an extensive background check, drug screening and driving history. You're not going to get this with UBER of LIFT who will hire any warm body to transport you. I loved how sensitive their employees were to my potential needs. When I arrived to my procedure I felt 100% confident that I would get home safely afterward. It was such a relief to have one less thing to worry about. We actually ended early the day of. The communication that happened between SilverRide and the Endoscopy nurses at UCSF was fantastic. Even they commented on how impressed they were. I didn't have to do or think about anything. Like magic, it just all happened. Howard was waiting right outside the hospital for me. (UCSF Covid protocol meant being wheeled to the car by a nurse.) Howard was an absolutely wonderfully pleasant driver. I was mildly sedated still when I entered the car and felt so safe, comfortable and taken care of during my ride. When we arrived at my building, I assured Howard that I was ok enough to exit the car on my own. He reminded me that I was his responsibility. That was icing on the cake! My doctor's office recommended that I book SilverRide in advance for transportation back home after outpatient surgery. I had never used them prior or heard of them, but took the recommendation. I was not sure exactly what time I would be out of surgery, and did not want to impose on family or friends to sit around and wait in S.F. for a trip back to Marin. The nurse at the doctor's office communicated directly with SilverRide after my surgery. I was picked up on time and in front of the surgery center. I explained to the driver that I can get nauseous and car-sick after anesthesia. The driver was so very kind. He took side roads to keep me out of stop & go heavy traffic, which he thought may make me uncomfortable. I was so grateful. On time, smooth ride, gentle and kind driver. I live in Redwood City and have used Silver Ride twice for transportation to and from surgery services up in Marin County. I just called in for a third time, and realized I hadn't Yelped yet. Can't say enough good things about them. The drivers are incredibly nice, professional, and helpful. Traffic is always a challenge in the bay area, but I've arrived and departed with time to spare. Then there's the price. Wow, each time I've been pleasantly surprised at how economical this service is. A ride from RWC to Greenbrae could have cost a lot... but didn't.
