My wife and I came here for the pontoon boat licensing brief and and test. There is plenty of parking in a gravel parking lot to the front of the building. We weren't sure where to check in exactly but there aren't many options so we started with the desk area. The store and rental area is pretty elaborate with food and equipment options although we didn't buy anything. We waited about 10 minutes for our class to start and were escorted to the pontoon boats in groups of three. We each had a chance to drive the boat, learn the safe route to the sand bar, and how to safely drop anchor given high/low tides. No issues with the course or passing the test, and we look forward to taking a boat out with the family to enjoy a day on the water. A great benefit to the military community.

Came here today to rent their boat. Ample parking spaces, gravel though. And a lot of puddle. Gets full around noon. No hot coffee inside but a lot of fish baits, surfboards, some cold bottle refreshments with pre-made sandwiches.. a microwave oven.. rental supplies like mask, fin, snorkeling stuff, cotton candy maker, snow cone syrup.. a lot of other stuff.. opens around 7am The boat rental for winter time is 4 hours.. my party got completed around 8:45am.. lol so we lost all the hours..it was windy and raining but we still had a good time.. lifevest required for kids (free to rent)

***First off, you must be active, reserve, retired military (or dependent) to access any or all of their services here or DOD personnel.*** Best rentals available on island HANDS DOWN! What's available? - Power Boat Rentals (ski boats, 6-person, 10 and 12-person pontoons) in block rentals. - Sail Boats (hourly rentals) - Water Activity Rentals (if it goes in water - most likely you'll find it here) **this place has the BEST rental rates on island -check it our for yourself & compare! - Pressure washer rentals - Generator - Party Day Rentals (anything from coolers, tents to shave ice and cotton candy machines) - Camping Gear Rentals (anything from tents to mountain bikes) - Pavillion Rentals at Pyramid Rock Beach / Ft. Hase Beach / Patriot Park / Hale Koa Beach I can't speak highly enough of this place! Military life has it's perks and this has got to be one of them. Imagine coming from the mid-west or some landlocked state and not being able to enjoy Hawaii because you don't have the stuff you want and need to enjoy the great outdoors. Or perhaps not wanting to invest a lot of money into a water activity until you're sure you enjoy it? This place has it all and you can rent it until you decide you want to get your own gear. Like seriously? A new pontoon boat that seats 12 passengers rents for $225.00 during the summer and only $180.00 in the winter!! Divide that between your passengers and it's only $15.00 - $18.00 per person! And btw....NO I'M NOT CHARTERING! LOL Hubby and I have been going back and forth for years about getting our own boat and I can argue both sides excellently but with the unavailability of boat slips on island and/or storage fees it makes it exponentially more restricting. For right now, I like the idea of just going out on the water on a whim and leaving the mess of washing the boat down to the wonderful staff at this marina. The staff here is ALWAYS so chill and friendly! No grumps here and everyone so helpful!

Where else on the island can you rent a pontoon boat for 4 hours for $110? What an awesome deal! I just got my fishing boat license ($20 annual fee) and can't wait to rent out one of their boats and head for the sandbar in Kaneohe Bay! At the Marina you can also rent things such as kayaks, OC-1's, SUPs, water skis, snorkels, bouncy houses, boat slips, etc. They have pretty much anything you'd need for a fun day in the sun. It's the best kept secret for marine enthusiasts and unfortunately you have to be active/retired military or DOD employee/spouse to take advantage of their programs.

At Kaneohe Bay Base Marina, those eligible through military or dod service may rent a pontoon boat for 4 hours for $110 INCLUDING VIRTUALLY UNLIMITED GASOLINE! There is ample free parking. We arrived early and watched the unloading of some big transport vessel. Kinda interesting. I have been invited several times in the past to go on a 4 hour tour to the Sandbar but I had previously always declined. I finally decided to go and it was a very fun afternoon motoring to the sandbar and back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Must be military (active, reserve, veteran) or DoD to rent out pontoon boats (10 or 12 person) for four hours, paddle boards, and other water activities. If you have at least one military or DoD with a boat driver's license for the Marina, they can sponsor. For example my friend (DoD with Marina boat driver's license which is renewed yearly) sponsored 9 of us for the 10-person pontoon boat. We usually get the 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm slot on a weekend. Highly recommend getting to the check-in to the base around 11:45am-12:00pm as the line can take 10-15 minutes depending on how many people are in front of you. Don't forget your license, safety registration and insurance (must not have expired) if you are the driver. Driver resumes all responsibilities of their passengers. Parking is free. There's tons of parking by the marina. Keep in mind of the dress code. If you have cut off sleeves and tank tops, you're only allowed to the Marina. Keep in mind NO ALCOHOL. Using the Marina's boat (10-person) and at least one paddle board is around $140. Divide that by 10 people and it's about $14-$15 a person. Summer has a more expensive rate (~$200plus), but it's worth it when you have 10 people. We bring our own cooler with non-alcoholic drinks, food (pizza, sandwiches, spam musubi, fried chicken, and other snacks). We also bring speakers to play music and our own floaties. We enjoy going to the Kaneohe Sandbar to relax, get in the water, laugh, and just enjoy the company of friends. Highly recommend if you have someone that has access and I'm so appreciative that a friend has taken us at least 5 times (once a year) for about 4 years or so.

My only complaints are the hours. I wish they could stay open longer. But, how can I complain about renting a sailboat at $5 an hour?

Can DoD contractors rent here? DoD contractors carry CAC cards as well.

As far as I know only DoD federal civilians and military can rent here.

These guys would get 10 stars if I could rate them that high. What an overall amazing experience…read morefor me and my family. This is an all inclusive sailing snorkeling, and lunch event with amazing staff. You can be picked up at your hotel if you are in Waikiki or drive out to the pier. Recommend you get there a little early as parking can be limited as the day gets busier. Luckily, we came on a day where it was about half the normal capacity so we had room to spread out on the ship. The staff gave a very entertaining intro and safety brief. First stop was the sandbar. They provide his struggles and beach volleyball. We opted to just snorkel around the sandbar. Such a cool feeling to be out in the middle of the ocean and standing with water only as high as your knees. After spending time there, we started our way to a coral reef, but on the way we got to see a bunch of green sea turtles swimming next to us. What a cool opportunity! Probably my favorite part was the coral reef that we visited next. The water was so clear and blue and there were so many tropical fish swimming around the reef. I even captured a sighting of a reef tip shark on my underwater camera. Don't worry, they are harmless. Captain Maka was an amazing host. He was so patient with my kid and took time to show him the ropes and let him hang out with him on the bridge as he was navigating to each spot. The crew makes lunch. They literally barbecue hamburgers on the ship as you are out having fun snorkeling. And by the time you get back on board, the food is all cooked and you get to enjoy an amazingly delicious lunch on the ship as it made it its way to the next spot. Can't say enough about this excursion. The crew makes it so amazing. We will definitely come back and do this tour again as it was so much fun.

Even with gloomy skies, and predicted rain, we all enjoyed ourselves. The crew was amazing and definitely made a difference in the experience. Our captain Maka made us all feel right at home instantly and felt as if we were all old friends. Julia, Akiko and Cody were so hospitable and friendly and made the experience so enjoyable. We were even able to recruit Cody to play volleyball with us! They keep the itinerary booked from cruising out to the sandbar, to playing volleyball, having a freshly prepared lunch onboard, to snorkeling out in the reef, having a hot cocoa break, and seeing the surrounding sites. It was so fun! And ofc you cannot beat the views in Kaneohe Bay! the KoOlaus are my fave and to see them from the water is even more breathtaking. The communication was top tier from the welcome orientation to giving us instructions and information on the sandbar and also snorkeling. Julia was always great with giving us info. We appreciated the lifeguard signals for while out on the reef too. The vessel is clean and well maintained. The bathroom onboard is cleaner than the ones at the dock too. Spacious for everyone to move about and gather. They have their own private area in the sandbar so there is no competition with other tour companies. We were able to coordinate roundtrip hotel pickup to/from Waikiki also which made it seamless. Pick up both ways was prompt and in a sizeable air conditioned coach. 10/10 experience that I'm so glad I finally checked off the list, and would do again with Captain Bob's.

Starting with one star and will update when progress is made…read more K&C has a nice clean shop, the employees are very nice and friendly. How ever this is about an ongoing problem I am dealing with since the installation of my Yanmar 4LV 250 Diesel with ZT 370 out drive. On the first sea trial I was told that the engine has noise and vibration at idle, I accepted that and proceeded with the sea trial noticing that the engine has noise and vibration when turning left but the noise and vibration is non existent when going straight or turning right. As I have gotten familiar with the engine and drive I've noticed that the rough idle and noise / vibration are very different things that only occur when turning left in forward or reverse at low rpm. I had 2 separate sea trials. First sea trial with Colleen confirmed there is an alignment issue. I took the boat to their shop on a Friday and was called a few hours later to pick up the boat. No work was performed to check the alignment, they purged the power steering pump which had no affect on the noise and vibration and they adjusted the engine height at the motor mounts. I was told when picking up the boat that there is no way the alignment could be a problem as engine and drive bolt up together. If there is no possibility of an alignment problem why does Yanmar recommend having the alignment checked annually and at every 100 hours? Second sea trial with Paul, confirmed there is noise and vibration only when turning left at and above idle. He called the technical support manager at Boatswains locker and explained to me that the noise and vibration is from gear chatter because the amount of torque engine produces. BS. I spoke to the Tech support manager and confirmed that it is an alignment problem. Gear noise would occur if the boat is out of the water with engine running because there is no load on the propeller and gear train. I have also spoken to another Yanmar dealer that confirmed that it is an alignment problem that needs to be addressed by the company that installed the engine. As of 8/29/2025 nothing has been resolved, they will discuss the problem with Boatswains locker and get back to me. Hopefully sooner than later. Like Johann G, I'm waiting for a call from Tyler to see what their plan of action is. And I have the invoice that is billed for their first sea trial and engine alignment that never happened. Up date coming as soon as I hear something. P.S. Engine is quieter, more fuel efficient and powerful than my old Volvo 230 hp and the drive with counter rotating props has much better response than the 290Dp drive.
