Robert came in and suggested he just give us a fixed price (with better fixtures) so there's no confusion. We were fine with that and were pleasantly surprised when his fixed price was at the very low end of the spread we expected. He also had to repair a broken underground line at no added charge and the outcome is better than the original. Robert was great to work with, a very nice guy, and very honest and forthcoming. We had Evergreen come out and give an estimate on some work we needed done. We agreed on the price…read moreand signed the contract. After starting the work, they stated they couldn't finish a generator switch unless we upgraded our entire electrical box at a 7500 cost. We decided not to finish the work and not move forward. We agreed to pay what work was done per the contract and get the rest of our deposit back. On our original signed contract it showed $0 dollars for one line item and then we get charged $200 additional outside the contract. Charging more than what the original contract stated is completely uncalled for and unethical. But the owner refuses to refund the $200 extra he charged outside the contract. The excuse we were told was for man hours, if man hours aren't included in the original contract, then they should maybe write their estimates differently to show that, because all this is showing is being dishonest and charging more than what was agreed on. They offered to rewrite the contract to show it that way but in all reality, that isn't our fault. We had a signed contract and they went outside of that. They basically expect the customer to pay for their mistake on the original estimate and signed contract. Also reading a few more reviews, this seems to be the norm for this company, so if you hire them, expect to pay more than the signed contract, even when no extra work was done.

AFHHS responded by visiting in a couple of hours and providing a preliminary assessment. A deep dive evaluation was scheduled for later in the week. The technician who arrived was very knowledgeable and thorough in his evaluation, pointing out a couple of things that contradicted the original evaluation by the first company. Although the AF technician indicated the furnace was a bit undersized for the square footage of our home, he said the furnace was in reasonable condition for being 11 years old. He recommended a thorough cleaning of the furnace in the spring before committing to purchasing a new furnace. We are very pleased with the results of calling AFHHS and will be looking forward to their service in a few months.

Epic was called and came out twice only to tell me that it was working properly. We are faced with using space heaters, fans and a portable AC to find any relief from the cold and heat in the winter and summer, respectively. I just find it disappointing that more locally owned businesses don't stand behind their work or their product. Are we a society that focuses on greed and not quality?
