The space is vintage, low lit, comfortable, woods, open kitchen. Some high top tables, mostly regular tables, the rooms flowed pretty good and had a good vibe. Staff was welcoming, efficient, on it. We enjoyed pineapple fried rice, tofu, some curry and a fish. I do not eat meat and in addition to a vegetarian menu (you have to ask for it), there were plenty of options. Food was served fast, hot, good quality and tasty. Although nothing culinarily off the charts going on here, I found this place good and would go back. Weirdly, the waiter or waitress came over to speak to me in Cantonese (probably looks like a local). I then surprised them by talking in Bahasa ;) Ordered Es Blewah - Javanese mixed sweet drink (mocktail) and Bebek Jingrak with coconut rice. The Es Blewah came five minutes later. You would need to stir the beverage before consuming it. Pretty refreshing drink and the ice was proportioned nicely. The Bebek (duck) Jingkrak with coconut rice came probably 20 minutes later. It will take time to provide the customers with aromatic rice and crispy duck. This dish reminded me of the Balinese dish. Definitely comparable to the local dishes in Java. The chilli which was well spread on the duck gave a tangy yet spicy aftertaste. Definitely a good choice on my part. Price wise it was reasonable - considering it is located in one of the most expensive areas (Causeway Bay). There is a free wifi you could use too while waiting - password: kampoeng (small letters) and use the 5G one for faster loads. The service is prompt and friendly. Our party of four ordered a few Cantonese favorites such as the fried shrimp roll, fried noodles, steamed rice rolls, and beef balls. The food came out steaming hot and the aroma quickly filled the dining place. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite of the meal. While it cost more than the norm, we thought it was worth it as the quality was top notch and the noise level was kept low. We will definitely come again when craving great Cantonese food that is without the rush of the crowds (which can really be overwhelming when all you want is to eat and relax).

We came during their lunch service without reservation. We were really lucky to get seated immediately before they got super busy. They have an amazing menu and lunch set menu, but I preferred à la carte. I wished I could order every single item on the menu to try tho because everything just looked so good. My husband always loves the roti canai, so he got both the fish and lamb. I got the Mee Siam, and Hainanese chicken rice. My little one got the fried chicken (excellent, didn't taste like fast food). For desserts and drinks we ordered Teh Tarik (of course), soursop soda, coconut jelly, cendol and durian pudding (their signature desert using Musang King- must try). Everything was delicious and authentic. We all had food coma afterward. Nice, clean and chill vibe. Service was friendly. We'll definitely gonna come back when visiting HK again. Thin, chewy, soft and not-too-sticky clear wrapping completely filled with tightly-packed, perfectly seasoned and succulent shrimps. They are not stingy with the shrimps! 3) Crispy sesame mochi dumpling tart - everything I love about Chinese desserts morphed into one item, how can I not love it? The idea was great, and the execution was even better. On top of that lengthy description, may I add buttery too? 4) Red date glutinous cake - We didn't plan to order that, but we saw the diners right next to us raving about it, so what the heck let's get that too. Sometimes they even give you a complimentary dish of century eggs with baby ginger. Other dishes I recommend are the sweet and sour pork and the fried glutinous rice with Chinese sausages. For dessert, the almond tea is really yummy. (When I say it's really good, it is really good as I'm never a big fan of Chinese dessert soup.) I just know that whatever I eat here, I end up happy and stuffed. The name (印尼餐廳 aka "Indonesian Restaurant") couldn't be more original. A no frills establishment that sports two levels, the upper of which is the main dining room. It's pseudo reminiscent of a Dim Sum hall, but smaller and darkly lit. The decor is appropriately SE Asian themed, outlined with templetastic table cloths, purposefully placed bamboo decorations, and a funky ceiling pattern to keep things interesting. A mix of date-like groups and family parties are the general make up here, which means it's about as versatile for just about any group size to satay it up together. Speaking of satay, that was the first thing I ordered here. A collection of chicken, lamb, and pork skewers lightly marinated and perfectly cooked. I didn't even need the accompanying sauce or the cold cucumber slice to complete the bite. They were delicious all on their own and were the one item every table seemed to have. The other dishes reminded me of things I've eaten in SE Asia, such as their Mee Goreng and Nasi Lemak, both of which were actually quite mediocre. Lacking flavor and generally bland, I also felt the same for their Jado Jado salad and Egg Curry. These tend to be popular items to order, but I would recommend going another route. Beef Rendang is one option, Gado Gado and Sayer Lodeh are a couple of others. Their version of Chicken Curry and Fried Chicken are worth the hype. These dishes provided the most kick and the coconut rice was a nice addition to the mix. I think a proper drink, some satays, and another noodle would suffice for a solid meal. The wait staff is a variable mixed bag; some are super nice and hospitable while some others seem to be hard to flag down and could care less. The manager / owner is friendly guy, I wish he were the one greeting and waiting on certain tables instead of mean mugging set of waitresses I tend to deal with. Here is what we ordered based on what seems to be their most popular: - Typhoon Shelter Shrimp (get this) - Beef & Potatoes (my fave) - Razor Clams in black bean (my son's fave) - Ong Choy with Shrimp Paste (Amazing) It's not just beef and potatoes, it's smoky, slightly charred, uniquely flavored. And the Typhoon Shelter Shrimps were so meaty and insanely delicious with all the garlic bits. They've lost the charm of a dai pai dong after they got famous. They have way too many servers that stand around and not look out for customers who waive them down. They charge you for bringing outside food/drinks. Apparently they were celebrating their 79th anniversary and handed out phoenix rolls. However, not everyone got one. You only get one if you ask..

(Prices mentioned in this review are in HKD, divided by 7.75 would convert to USD)…read more We have been eager to try the Spring Moon which is a Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant located on the 1st floor (equivalent to 2nd floor in the US) of the Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong.  We treated 6 members of our extended family to dinner, with us, it was a party of 9.  Hubby did a great job choosing 4 starters, 9 other main courses, and let each person pick a dessert of his/her choice.  Please see the receipt that lists all the items.   The restaurant was set up to resemble those in the 1820s, and has an antique Shanghainese feel.  I appreciated the antique feel, but would prefer better lighting especially for photo taking of the food!  The majority of our table was in a shadow as it was mostly under the balcony, so, that was trickier to take good photos.  Also, the tables were pretty close to each other, except for the wider area in the middle leading to the tea bar.  For some, it is a stunning looking restaurant, depending on whether antique Shanghainese is your cup of tea or not.   Service was very good, but not impeccable.  It was like standard for a good restaurant.  Sometimes we did have to flag down a waiter.  But they were all nice and polite once you got their attention.  We had to remind them several times about the second course of the Peking Duck, which was the Stir-fried Minced Duck Served with Lettuce, that they might have forgotten.  However, we really need to give a special shout-out to our main server, who was friendly and was very familiar with the menu.  He gave my hubby good advice, such as the Green Lobster would be too small for 9 people, and he suggested 2.25 orders of Wok-fried Prawns with Yunnan Ham and (crispy) Bean Curd Sheet.  That was a very good recommendation!  The green veggies were placed through the huge prawns, the whole dish was fresh and tasty with beautiful presentation!  He did not up-sell us, as this choice even came up cheaper than the original Green Lobster!  He also advised on getting 1.5 orders of the Suckling Pig, 1.125 order of the BBQ Hungarian Mangalica Pork with Honey, and 1.125 order of Star Garoupa so that they would be enough to feed all 9 guests! Moments like the captain carving the Peking Duck by our tableside; a team of servers bringing individual servings of King Crab Meat Sweet and Sour Soup to us; and a team bringing individual servings of desserts, were truly impressive!  It was fun that all those bowls came covered and were opened at about the same time. The food was phenomenal!  I have been craving for the crispy skins of the Suckling Pig, Peking Duck, and Crispy Tea Chicken since we left Spring Moon!  Those were so light, thin, and crispy... a true delight to enjoy!  The Pan-seared Star Garoupa(Grouper) was also memorable!  It had a light batter that had a nice crunch, the Grouper meat inside was so fresh, tasty, smooth, and cooked to perfection!  The Steamed Crab Claw with Egg White (although a bit pricey at HK$428 per person) that we got 9 orders of was a must try!  The Crab Claw was so big and plump, the meat fresh and flavorful, and the steamed egg white was smooth and tasty!  This dish really impressed everyone!  The only dish that I did not try was the Garlic Broccoli.  Why?  I have to save some room for dessert!  So, it was either broccoli or Baked Sago Pudding with Chestnut Paste, which is a labor-intensive yummy dessert that not too many restaurants have chefs that could/would make nowadays!  The pudding was so good, it had the right amount of sweetness, and the chestnut paste in the middle was creamy and tasty!   I already wish to have the above dishes again when I go to Hong Kong next time!  Actually, the whole dinner was a delight! The other dishes Crispy Bean Curd Rolls with Carrots and Black Mushrooms, Cold Jellyfish with Dark Vinegar, Signature Fried Rice, Vermicelli with Crab Meat all worth an honorary mention!  And we even got complimentary desserts!  Each person got a bite size piece of mango pudding cake, and an almond cookie, that was so crispy and fluffy and smelled so good! The Spring Moon is famous for its vast variety of tea.  We ordered Jasmin and Oolong to go with our dishes.  Each guest picked one of the two, that paired with the Cantonese food well. All in all, the dinner at Spring Moon was worth the money!  We were all stuffed with good food!  Everyone was happy and we, as hosts, were proud as well!
