We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at KAMA West Loop during a recent visit to Chicago! We were seated promptly and attended to immediately. Our server was gracious, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, particularly when helping us navigate a gluten-free dietary restriction. The service throughout the evening was polished without feeling formal or intrusive. Every course was delicious, beautifully paced, and appropriately portioned. We especially appreciated being able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed, unhurried pace. The atmosphere struck a wonderful balance: warm, convivial, and effortlessly sophisticated. The restaurant was bustling with couples, families, and larger groups, creating a lively but comfortable energy that made the evening even more enjoyable. Excellent food, thoughtful hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere. KAMA delivered a thoroughly satisfying dining experience, and we would gladly return on our next visit to Chicago. Highly recommended! read more

My overall rating is 3.5. Mid size space inside and patio outside that is dog friendely. Service was good in the beginning latter have to wait for our cheque. Rating of vegetarian food out of 5 Non alacholic turmeric drink- 2 - turmeric was sharp and drink felt more sugar syrup consistency Cheese kulcha - 4.5 - really tasty with oxacan cheese. Added chillies on top for my taste Panner lemon taka- 3 - graveyard was good Maitake pakora main - 3.5- lacks seasoning and spice Cheese Ravioli- 4.5 - good dish again needs little more seasoning and spice read more

I'm starving just thinking of these mains. The sauces - OH MY GAWD. Fantastic and with depth that had us scooping up every last drop. The drinks were fabulous as well! Lovely smoky manhattan that only developed as time went on. Appetizers are okay but honestly I would skip out to save more space for naan+mains!! read more

I would 100% give this place 5 stars if the service (for us) was better. Our server Michale was nice however, it felt like we were forgotten. We sat for 10 minutes waiting for someone (we didn't know it was Michale at the time) to ask if we wanted water. We placed our food order and did not get everything that we ordered (I never got my spinach and my friend got her garlic nan 5 minutes before we were leaving. So, not with her food). He was apologetic however, it was just...yea service had an off day. I ordered the chicken tikka and butter nan we were given complementary basmati rice because of the long way to get water... the chicken tikka was DELICIOUS. Full of flavor the chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned. The butter nan was BLESSED. I could've ate the nan and tikka sauce alone. When you order the rice does not come with the meal. It's basically à la cart. For the food 5/5 stars. But over all 4/5. read more

I am so obsessed with the happy hour options at Kama! The venue is beautiful, and it gives warm tones to set the mood just right. The tacos are so flavorful, my favorite are the chicken and my friend loves the lamb. The lemon chicken tadka and the crispy potatoes are absolutely delicious, and the chicken pairs well with the garlic naan and/or rice. I recommend topping that happy hour off with a kamarita. It's so good, and an interesting twist on the classic margarita. Oh, and the service top tier in every single way. Staff is very attentive. read more

Came in for an early dinner. Service staff were very nice and explained the menu/answered all of our questions. Place is small but wasn't busy at 5/6pm. I would still recommend getting a reservation to be safe. For drinks we got the smoked old fashioned and the conquistador. Both good and would definitely get again. Started off with the sweet potato chaat and taco trio. The sweet potato was SO GOOD. 100000% would order again. Flavors meshed so well. To me, the taco trio was just okay. The lamb was the best. Flavors were good, just not my favorite. For dinner, we got the cod curry. The sauce was really good but I did not like the fish whatsoever. It smelled a little off, like not fresh, but tasted normal-ish. We did not finish it and I would not get this again nor do I recommend it. Would go for chicken or short rib next time. The rice and garlic naan were great. For dessert, I don't remember the name but it was the pistachio one with passion fruit. Nothing special and not super flavorful. Overall, good experience but aside from the sweet potato, it was pretty underwhelming. Would I recommend? Depends. Would I come again? Probably not. read more

Did a take out order from Kama at our hotel. Seafood platter with shrimps, good quality chunks of white fish was amazing and cooked to perfection. Daal makhani and plain naan were also very good. The only thing negative was the garlic naan which had way too much raw garlic on it and that ruined the taste as it was under cooked and extremely soggy. read more

I stopped by for happy hour and got the crispy chili potatoes, cheese kulcha, and the paneer ravioli off of the normal menu. The chili potatoes are def on the spicier end and are very saucy, but I just wish they were crispier! Cheese kulcha is very very filling and almost too cheesy. You definitely want to eat that with something else but does taste very good. The paneer ravioli was also delicious, but tasted more like a normal ravioli than I'd expect. You couldn't really taste the paneer but the makhani sauce was more prominent. Overall, I did enjoy the meal and recommend stopping by! read more

One of the homies was looking to check out a place to catch up and grab dinner recently. We both live in West Loop and wanted to stay local. Such a nice vibe when you walk in and one of the first things I noticed was the big murals on the wall which are nicely done...loved it! We had bar seats for the restaurant week menu which was cool as we got to stare at an awesome mural behind the bar. Goat Cheese salad was definitely a highlight. I knew it would be good but it was very good! Lamb tacos were definitely delicious! Taramind Glazed Short Ribs on top of upma grits and kama pickles was definitely fire! They gave a nice side of rice along with the dish. Had the Chai Tiramisu for dessert and it was very good! Washed it all down with a couple of cocktails. Goan Sour was a nice surprise as I normally dont like cocktails that include any kind of tea, but they made it work nicely. The drink includes Basil Hayden's Bourbon infused w/ dark orange tea, kokum, cumin honey and coconut lime foam. Smoke show looked like a science project and was really good as well. Kinda like a fancy old fashioned. Really good! Kama is a lovely place with great ambience, great food and a cool vibe. read more

When elevated Indian cuisine meets West Loop polish, Kama Bistro proves it belongs on Randolph. I've been to the Wicker Park location before, so this was my first time at the newer West Loop spot--and it absolutely holds its own. In a neighborhood packed with serious restaurant competition, Kama manages to carve out a distinct lane: refined, flavor-forward Indian food that still feels recognizably Indian and approachable. The space is beautiful--dark, romantic, and sultry without being overdone, with dramatic murals and a moody glow that makes it feel like a proper night-out destination. It's polished but comfortable--perfect for date nights, celebrations, or a dressed-up family dinner like ours. They were especially kind and welcoming, even with our child and an early Sunday reservation. Service * Warm reception and easy seating for an early family dinner * Knowledgeable server who walked us through dishes thoughtfully * Celebrated my parents' anniversary with complimentary champagne and a sparkler dessert moment * Attentive pacing throughout Drinks * Smoke Show Manhattan - bourbon americano, Amaro Lusano, crème de cacao, walnut bitters; slightly sweet, smoky, and beautifully balanced * Pisco Inferno - pisco, mango, and passion fruit chutney; bright, layered, and vibrant with subtle heat * Cocktail program feels intentional and refined Starters * Sweet Potato Chaat - vibrant, flavorful, and nicely balanced * Lamb Tacos - small but packed with flavor; great shareable bites Portions on starters are on the smaller side, which works well if you want to sample several. Mains (all paired with rice) * Black Cod Kerala Curry - standout dish; outrageously flavorful and rich * Chilean Sea Bass Molly - delicate, beautifully cooked, and a hit at the table * Butter Chicken - classic and well-executed * Achari Curry (Chicken) - solid but the least impressive of the group We also added garlic naan and naan, though the curries already come with rice. The lemon rice was especially notable-- fully infused and bold rather than lightly scented. Dessert * Chai Tiramisu - a creative twist with cardamom and warm Indian spice notes; familiar structure, elevated flavor Verdict Kama's West Loop location delivers a complete dining experience--beautiful setting, thoughtful service, and deeply layered curries that stand out in a crowded restaurant corridor. It's elevated without being pretentious, traditional without being boring. A confident five stars and a strong addition to the Randolph lineup. read more

A group of 10 of us went here for a friends birthday and we did the restaurant week menu. The food was really good. Definitely will come back. Service was great as well. Here's what we got in the restaurant week menu: - Pani puri (3/5): was a little too sweet for my taste - Sweet potato chaat (4/5): was also a little too sweet, tasted more like candied sweet potatoes than a chaat - Paneer Makhani (10000/5): this was so flavorful and so good. I couldn't stop eating it. My stomach was definitely so happy and I would keep coming back for this dish alone - Chai Tiramisu (4/5): it had a very strong chai flavor and I guess I just prefer the normal tiramisu but still fun and tasty to try - Espresso martini (3/5): not like normal espresso martinis, it was too sweet for my liking The rest of the table seemed to really like most of their dishes as well. read more

We went to Kama for a nice dinner and really liked the overall feel of the place. It's super quaint and definitely feels more high-end, but it still keeps a traditional vibe. The service was super good overall. Our food did get sent to the wrong table, so we were waiting for quite a bit, but once it finally came out, it honestly didn't bother me anymore. I got the lamb ragu, which was delicious and also a pretty generous portion. Really filling, and just an overall well-made dish. We also tried both the butter naan and the garlic naan. The butter naan was very buttery - almost overpoweringly so. The garlic naan tasted like a classic garlic naan, which was good, but nothing to write home about. Overall, despite the wait, it was a really great experience. Great service, cozy atmosphere, and good food. read more

I stopped by here to do a preview for their Chicago restaurant we menu and oh my goodness! I love Indian food, but this restaurant puts this modern and contemporary twist on it. The way that they play with the flavors and the textures gives the cuisine such an elevated experience. The lamb tacos and sweet potato chaat are a must! The ambience inside of here is also not worthy. There is giant murals that you can tell where hand painted and hand paint extremely well and the music playlist is top-notch surprisingly! This is definitely a great addition to the West loop and I would come here for food or their delicious drinks; doesn't matter This is a spot. You should definitely check out. read more

Super pretty restaurant in Fulton Market. The interior is gorgeous- very modern with dark accents and moody lighting that sets a sleek, intimate vibe. Our server was incredibly friendly, attentive, and offered helpful guidance on what to try. I'd describe the food as creative Italian-Indian fusion, which made for a unique dining experience. Malai Kofta: 8/10 Al dente dumpling pillows filled with what I believe was squash or potato. The sauce delivered familiar Indian flavours, and the dish was comforting and well-executed. Butter Chicken: 7.5/10 A flavourful curry, with an interesting twist - the chicken comes bone-in, including both the drumstick and breast. The drumstick was superb, but the breast was a bit dry. My only complaint is that the curry was very salty at times. There were moments where I think I bit into actual salt flakes when I dipped the naan into the curry. Crab Risotto: 7.5/10 Rich and hearty risotto. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the coconut cream sauce was flavourful. There was a good amount of crab too. Lamb Pasta: 8/10 Perfectly al dente lasagnette noodles tossed with braised lamb shank shreddings. This was probably the least Indian-esque of all the dishes I tried, but it was amazing. Great amount of meat, and the sauce was wonderful. read more

We came here for Thursday dinner around 6:30 pm and were the only customers in the restaurant. I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants, and this is definitely the fanciest. Very nice sleek decor. Even the bathrooms were very spacious with modern sleek decor, and I like that they had lotion provided. Our waitress Laura was very friendly and attentive. We got garlic naan, basmati rice, tacos trio, Malai Kofta, and butter chicken. This is much more expensive than a traditional Indian restaurant. The dish that stood out and was the most unique and tasty was Malai Kofta. The tacos trio were also very tasty. We got one of each kind and it came with a lot of meat in the tacos. The butter chicken had a bone-in half chicken and I liked how they prepared it. It also wasn't dunked in the sauce like other Indian restaurants and I liked it. Very good experience but more expensive. read more

The space itself is gorgeous and has such a great vibe. The service was attentive in the sense that they were polite and professional, but not particularly present. We waited so, so, so long between courses, and it felt like no one was really checking in or keeping an eye on the table. When the food finally came, the flavors just didn't mash for us. I can appreciate the creativity and intention behind the dishes, but the combinations weren't quite the right mix, nothing terrible, just not cohesive or balanced in a way that made the meal enjoyable. Overall, beautiful spot and kind staff, but the pacing and flavor pairings missed the mark. read more

We snagged a last minute reservation at the bar and had the best time here. The moment you walk in the door you're met by the spicy aroma of Indian cuisine & Bali-wood covers the likes of of Sister Nancy's "Bam Bam" thumping overhead. Absolutely everything we ordered was delicious. Do not sleep on the saag burrata -- a contemporary twist on the classic saag paneer -- which was bursting with sweet & earthy flavor, perfectly balancing the heat & of the Carolina reaper lamb shank vindaloo. (Don't fear the reaper, kids, it's not THAT spicy.) Bar staff was busy & churning out drinks, but still kept the pace well & took great care of us. read more

Took my friend here for happy hour for her birthday spent 120 for the two of us. And she got a free birthday dessert. It was some creamy cake thing. We both got a drink right before happy hour and it ends at 5:30. We got there a little bit before 5:30 so we made it just in time. I got the chili potatoes. They were bigger than I thought they would be and I wish I had got another thing of it cause they were really good. It was pretty quiet in there. People were starting to come in as we were about to leave out. The waitress was very nice. She's attentive. I forgot her name but shout out to her. I really did want to like Kama based on reviews I had heard of their LeGrange location. Turns out the menu for both locations is also quite different and Sadly, West Loop missed the mark. I went with colleagues on a weeknight and we were able to get seated right away even with no reservations . It is a large space and there were quite a few diners on both sides of the restaurant. We had one server for all the tables on our larger side of the restaurant and he was definitely overwhelmed and it impacted service. For our table besides drinks, we ordered lamb chops, the butter chicken, kulcha, dal makhni, okra, goan mussels, coconut crab risotto, and the halibut moilee. Essentially we got to try a lot of the menu. Given they don't have a tandoor, the lamb chops totally missed the mark and lacked both char and flavor that comes from the tandoor. Hence they also don't have tandoori roti on the menu and I am not sure how they prepare their nan and kulcha, in the absence of a traditional coal tandoor. The butter chicken was with bones (original recipe in India) but not the easiest to split and share when dining with work colleagues. The coconut risotto was the highlight of the meal for me and was very flavorful, except it's not really an Indian dish per se. our table did enjoy the mussels. Overall, an ok meal and sadly Kama missed the mark for me. One of the owners was around that day so I shared my feedback and he was receptive to it so I am hoping they can make some tweaks to their menu and I look forward to being back then. read more

Went for restaurant week and between my husband and I we tried everything vegetarian on the menu! Highlights for me were definitely the paneer ravioli, the sweet potato chaat and the chai tiramisu. Every dish, including the beet salad and burrata saag, were also full of flavor! To no fault of their own, we went when it was negative temps outside and the restaurant seemed to have an issue with heat so most of our food was cold when it came to the table, but the flavors were incredible! The service was amazing and fast. I would love to try the full menu again (maybe in the summer :)) read more

This is elevated contemporary Indian food at its best. The flavors are incredible in each and every dish and their cocktail program is insane, incorporating tea infusions, eastern spices and truly unique takes on your classic favorites. We had the corner booth in the main dining room and it was the coziest spot for a date night. Do not skip the sweet potatoes or curry dishes--the flavors will blow your mind--and their lamb shank dish is one of the best in the city. Also: a CHAI tiramisu?! Why has no one done this! A memorable evening and we can't wait to return. read more

Started as a 5 and then down to two. Ordered the spicy potato stick, lamb tacos, the two finish curries, nana and rice. The tacos and potatoes came pretty quick. Kama - West Loop - Sweet Yama potato chaat, Butter Naan, black lotus mocktail - Indian Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I made a reservation at Kama through OpenTable, and the restaurant even called me beforehand to confirm the reservation and ask if anyone at the table had dietary restrictions. I clearly mentioned that everyone at our table was vegetarian and that we do not eat non-vegetarian food due to our religious beliefs, so I expected at least basic attention and care regarding what was being served to us. Unfortunately, the experience was terrible from start to finish. The cocktails tasted more like juice than actual cocktails. When we mentioned this and asked if they could make them stronger, we were told the drinks were pre-batched. They eventually offered us a shot on the side to add in, which was appreciated, but that was one of the only positive parts of the evening. The bigger issue was the food and service. We ordered paneer tikka masala and specifically asked for it spicy, but instead we were served chicken tikka. Considering the restaurant had literally called earlier to ask about dietary restrictions and we had clearly explained our vegetarian preferences and religious restrictions, this felt extremely careless and upsetting. When we pointed it out, the server simply said "oops, sorry," which made the situation feel even more dismissive. The replacement paneer dish was equally disappointing -- overly sweet, bland, and honestly one of the worst paneer dishes we've had. The naan also seemed stale and reheated. We asked them to replace it, but even the second batch felt the same. None of us could properly eat our meal. We left hungry and had to go somewhere else afterward to get dinner. Overall, it was a very frustrating and disappointing dining experience, especially given the prices and reputation of the restaurant. read more

We had an amazing meal at Kama. We rarely eat Indian food out because we usually enjoy what we make at home more -- but this was truly another level. These were the kind of dishes that aren't easy to just whip up at home. Everything was spiced perfectly and deeply flavorful without feeling heavy. Standouts for us: Lamb shank -- packed with heat and incredibly tender Mussels Sweet potato chaat Saag burrata Malai kofta Butter chicken Naans Lamb tacos -- amazing Even the drinks were excellent. The decor and overall vibes were 5-star. This place feels special without trying too hard. read more
