To begin...I'm a regular when it comes to getting facials. I probably get a facial about every 8-10 weeks. And this has been my routine for at least the past 10+ years (I'm currently 48 years old). I do have a few favorite spas (and/or estheticians) that I will rotate through as they each offer something different...or I should say they offer a specialized treatment. I recently went to Apotheke Skin Studio for the first time and the face sculpting/buccal massage sounded unique and interesting. I mean, who doesn't want a "face lift" without going under the knife, right lol!? The treatment area was super cute...and I was able to relax right from the start with Erica's friendly nature and the studio's calming vibes. She had me pick an essential oil that she was going to use during the treatment. That was a fun little addition as I'm a big fan of essential oils, aromatherapy, and holistic skincare products. So before the treatment even started, I knew my skin would be in good hands I'm very familiar with facial massages and I think they're very beneficial for circulation, improving lymphatic flow, relieving muscle tension etc. It's one of my favorite parts of a facial. However, I've never had a buccal massage...where you open your mouth wide and they massage inside! This really relaxes and sculpts your jaw line, inside of cheeks, lips. etc. It might sound a little weird, but trust me...it felt AH-MAZING! I'm in sales...and I have to talk A LOT for my job. I didn't realize how tense my facial muscles were until they were in such a relaxed state. The whole experience was such a treat...from the multiple massages (including a foot massage...yes please!) to the high-end holistic/all natural skincare products used at Apotheke. After the treatment, Erica took a before/after photo to show me the results and I was shocked! I knew I felt incredible, but I wasn't prepared to see how dramatic the results were after just one facial. My facial inflammation had dramatically decreased, my jaw line was so sculpted, and my skin was glowing! I was so pleased with the results. I was visiting family in Del Mar and had planned to try getting a brazilian wax. I was 6 months pregnant and shaving was getting to be not an option. Lol. I found Apotheke on yelp and decided to check them out. It was super easy to book an appointment online, the building was very nice and right off the freeway. I saw Erica for my wax. I told her I had only my eyebrows waxed before and she gladly explained the process. She was quick, and constantly checked in on me in between our conversation. I also decided to add on a customized facial after talking with Erica about my dry skin. The facial was amazing! I was soooooo relaxed, the products she used smelled of lavender, and my skin was left hydrated and glowing. I also bought a cleanser while I was there. I see her predominately for brazilians, but have also received multiple facials from her. Her waxes are virtually pain free, she uses high quality products which she tailors to your skin type, and the results are always fantastic. Another thing to note is that she cares more about helping people obtain the results they want from their skin than selling/pushing products, which I have experienced at other studios and other estheticians. I had the lovely experience of getting a Brazilian with Natalie. It's not often you hear a Brazilian described as lovely but there was minimal pain and Natalie was very attentive. I don't have as much as hair as some and also have a good amount of blonde hair so she really made sure to get it all. Normally I have to go home and do some tweezing of my own but not with Natalie! The wax was the perfect temperature and she asked me throughout the experience how the temp was since it can be more sensitive in certain areas. Lately a few places I've gone to, I've experienced redness for a few days post wax (aka I got a slight burn). Again, no negative effects here.
