The location I remember was about a block or so away from its current location (though I believe that was technically the OG "Little Things Too") and I always enjoyed checking out what action figures they had in stock. In this new location the shop is on a corner and it is still very welcoming. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Park Slope architecture but the shop just looks "right" to me for a toy store with toys showing in the window and an entrance that lets you see inside, hinting at the toys inside. All that said, this location is now focused heavily on toys for younger kids with very little aimed at a older collectors such as myself - and that's fine. Right across the street is Little Things Too which caters to a far wider audience. This shop is a great place to get toys for pre-schoolers to kids maybe around 5-6 years old. Beyond that I would visit the branch across the street. The prices seem very standard for what they're selling and not being a giant store like Target or Walmart. I purchased a couple Safari Ltd. Good Luck Mini animal and it was only a few bucks so not bad at all. The lady at check out was very nice and I had no issues with the service. With that visit, I headed over to Little Things Too which I'll be reviewing in the future.

OMG... this place has an unlimited supply of toys, stuffed animals, toy trucks, games and anything else you can think of. This place clearly reminded me of where I would go when I was growing up. No Toys R Us, Target or Wall Mart. You went to the Toy Store for a toy. My four year old grandchild was going to party and knew exactly what she wanted to get the birthday girl. Her mom had to modify the size of the stuffed toy but thanks to their amazing selection there was plenty to choose from. Once they got on line (and I'm happy to say that there was big check out line) they moved pretty quickly and finally paid. Following the cashier was gift wrapper. You would hand her the item and just a few minutes later appeared a perfectly wrapped present. I feel compelled to say that I do not understand the negative reviews. Apparently someone was having a bad day and took it out on a toy store? KUDOS to the team at Little Things Toy Store.

Nine times out of ten I can get a gift for a friend from here that is unique. There are items there that are made by Brooklyn/nyc artists. But depending on when you visit, there are not too many things that are NYC/Brooklyn themed (there was an ash tray, a puzzle sets, magnets, & keychains when I visited off the top of my head). To my knowledge, there is not a website that shows all they have available without visiting but I would recommend looking at their Instagram to see what new things they have plus to see what events they are holding. It is relatively cramped even when you are one of two people perusing the store. Every time I visit, there are new items to look at. This of course means that some items you may have seen previously are gone. But they do have items that you are sure to see when you visit such as Breukelen Rub spices, Mike's hot honey and the street sign magnets that I love (I have multiple). I cannot describe how much I love Brighton Beach, and also how simultaneously intimidated I am to speak Russian to... well, actual Russian people. My accent is horrendous! But at least I could tell my friend what all the crazy toys in were inside of Detskiy Mir - my favourite being the "paint your own saint" wooden figures. This place is amazing, seriously. It has something for everyone, from illustrated Chekov' kids books to talking stuffed animals to the simple notebooks I purchased with Russian insignia on them. The staff is friendly if you understand Russian culture and customs (never hand your money to a Russian, just saying. Put it on the counter). This store has a variety of funnies so it's cool to check out and also a shop I impulse-buy-indulge on. Each section of the shop is well put and often restocked. I liked how there were sample testers for the lotions. Also there's your usual card selection in the back along with gift wraps, gift bags, and decorations to pick up. I also love cheese, but I'm just tempted to buy one of those mystery cheeses near the shelves or those seasonal delights/chocolates/cookies on the middle table. Also, I'd come back for the Pre de Provence soaps, Crabtree & Evelynn sets, and Tea Forte samples/cannisters. This is probably going to be my favorite shop.

I was fresh out of the gym and in need of either a protein shake or natural juice. I knew Nicholas Brooklyn for selling juice outside in the summer. I DID NOT know that all the juices are made by a joyful, jovial soul who calls himself "Coconut Rob." He made a blend of spinach and passionfruit juice for me which he put in a bottle with the "Coconut Rob" logo (too cute.) I noticed a very new looking, shiny pot simmering in the juice area but the aroma caught me first. Coconut Rob was preparing a container of hot, vegan soup that was so fragrant and delicious smelling I had to take a container to go. My juice was really tasty but the SOUP!!! It was full of lentils and squash and topped with seasoned, fresh kale and a crushed garlic sauce. It will leave you begging for more with Oliver Twist hunger in your eyes. Nicholas Brooklyn also sells vitamins and supplements and candles for prayer, spiritual and devotional needs. They also host events that focus on topics that serve the needs of the Bed-Stuy community. I see that holistic wellness goddess, Queen Afua, will be a guest at Nicholas Brooklyn for an upcoming event. That's so dope. Told me once I have everything ready I could pick whatever bottles I wanted and they would bottle it up for me. I absolutely also love the texture of the oils and how long it stays on the skin and the scent last all day. Body butters are amazing in here as well. I also loved getting bitters in the shop. I will definitely make the trip there all the time because I live an hour away driving
