This is my second time here and I am not disappointed. Everything is very fresh. I got the kale salad and I added raw Aji tuna and it is an additional but so worth it to drink. I got a smoothie cold green dream it is really quiet and peaceful which allows you to enjoy your food. They do have limited seating, but have an outdoor patio which in the summer would be amazing to sit outside.. the service is really nice and they bring your food to your table. My new spot for lunch! Everything and I mean Everything was perfect! The environment the presentation, the Price the food it all worked together for the good! Even the staff Cornelius and Katiah were on point, kind and welcoming. My portobello pesto flatbread was bussing and my girlfriend's Greek salad was huge! I stopped by Kale Me Crazy for lunch and had a nice meal. This location on Ponce caters to a business crowd with many doing pick up or takeout. There is some seating inside and out front in nice weather. They specialize in salads, smoothies, and bowls. A great place with something meaningful for vegans, picky eaters, and Carnivores alike! A little on the pricey side for salads but everything seems freshly made to order. I enjoyed a kale salad($9) with a scoop of tuna salad($3.50). The meal was large and filling and very fresh! I said I shouldn't have to pay for more granola when I removed other ingredients and she didn't even try to solve the issue and just ask "so do you want to still get it". Good food and service! I called in an order for my office (around 20 people) and it was all individual orders - I didn't get the cashier's name, but my receipt says Cemera. She took care of me and was incredibly helpful and responsive! I've handled office lunch takeouts from a ridiculous amount of restaurants and Cemera ranks amongst the top employees that is working with me to ensure an efficient pickup. She was patient with me over the phone and read back my order accurately, she let me double check everything and bagged all items upon checking, she asked if i was missing anything, and she was attentive the whole way whilst juggling other incoming customers. I'm so torn with this one, y'all. I feel almost like I need to write two separate reviews. Instead, let's break it down into the good, bad, and ugly. Good: * The food is yummy! I was very happy with my poke bowl, and my adult companion enjoyed her chicken breast over kale salad. My kiddo companion refused to drink his fancy juice or açaí bowl, though, on the grounds that they were yucky. I might have thought the same when I was 9, so maybe this just isn't a place for kids. * I love the wide variety of clean, healthy options at a casual dining restaurant. Bad: * Prices - HOLY SHOOT. It was $63 for a couple of entrees, two waters, and a freakin' juice. The stuff was good but it could have been made at home for $12, total. I understand restaurants have a profit margin but this is total extortion. I don't care if the veggies were grown by leprechauns and juiced by mermaids, a $9 juice is insane. * Service - Both ladies behind the register remained in their cell phones and having a side conversation while we were waiting to be helped. I'm pretty low maintenance, but c'mon. At least smile at me and tell me Hello before charging me $6 for a single bottle of water. Ugly: The name. I didn't mind the higher prices, because of the quality, consistency and service. This location will not be getting my business again. I've been a big fan of Kale Me Crazy's original location in Inman Park since its opening in 2013 and I'm happy the business has been spreading throughout the metro. Simply put, we need more places like this. The food and drink consist of high quality, nutritious ingredients. Everything is made fresh, served up quick, and tastes great. Best of all, it's good for you. Kale Me Crazy's Decatur location is bigger than the Inman Park location. There's more space to sit, hang, and spread out. Along with a six-person bar, the interior has a long communal table with bench seating, a high-top table for three, and a couple lounge-like waiting chairs. The clean, simple, open, and polished interior is highlighted by awesome, gigantic wall art featuring a woman drinking a Kale Me Crazy green juice (IIRC, the mural was done by Buckhead Murals). In addition, there's a tree-and-umbrella-shaded patio with four sets of wrought iron tables and chairs. All this is only a few blocks west from the DeKalb History Center (Old Courthouse) and Decatur Square. While Kale Me Crazy is primarily known for its juices, smoothies, and shots, they also sell organic coffee and food like acai bowls and delicious and filling salads and wraps. There are about a dozen salad and wraps to choose from. They run about $10-12 each. Combos (half salad, half wrap) run about $12-14 each. Ask for samples. Ingredients include kale, spinach, cucumber, apple, Romaine lettuce, chard, celery, carrot, ginger, pear, pineapple, apple, beet, lemon, lime, grapefruit, cayenne, and turmeric. Smoothies, also around a dozen varieties, run about $8-9 each and are made with additional ingredients such as orange, mango, banana, coconut products, cherries, cashews, almond milk, hemp milk, vegan protein, flax seeds, mint, strawberries, dates, blueberries, chia seeds, agave, almond milk, hemp protein, hemp seeds, cinnamon, raw honey, and more. Spirlina, mostly a protein, and Udo's oil are high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Also high in omega-3 are hemp milk, which gives both smoothies a nutty flavor, and flax seeds, which also add lignans and fiber. Goji berries are nutrient-rich. The cacao nibs give the Brain Wash a hint of chocolate and add antioxidants and minerals. Overall, I think the smoothies are wholesome and gratifying. Service is terrific. I was looking for a morning drink and trying to break away from caffeine and sugar, so I thought i'd go the juice route...fortunately Kale Me Crazy was very close by! I ordered the Green Dream smoothie, ($7.50) which comes mixed with Kale, spinach, pineapple, coconut milk, apple and mint leaves. The drink was a deep dark green, very slightly sweet, and it just had the taste of health. I enjoyed it! I've been to a couple of different Kale Me Crazy locations before, although this one is definitely the largest i've been to, complete with both a nice central table, chairs and exterior seating on a patio. I usually have to say about most places in Decatur that there is no parking, however with Kale me Crazy, there's a decent selection of parking both on the side and rear of the shot. The beauty of this location is there's a wonderful mural on the side of the building, and artwork on the inside too. Customer service was fantastic, quick and very friendly, and Kale me crazy, while not in any way "cheap", deals with a lot of high quality products for the healthy inclined folks. I loved their 'go to kale' sign, and I also loved their sign that said 'you are what you eat, so don't be fast, cheap, easy or fake'. I went with a friend right after a workout and while my first instinct was to go to Starbucks I decided to go here and Give it a try. I was glad that I did. The location isn't that big but they have a decent amount of parking off to the side next to the building. They have a lot of different juices and smoothies and all of them look so healthy and delicious! Some people claim that this place is expensive and while it can be a tad bit pricey I think it's worth it because you are getting quality products. I ended up getting the grounded smoothie and I loved it! I was even able to add coffee to it which was great because it helped with my Caffeine need lol. For two drinks it was about $18 bucks but they are good size drink so I didn't mind! The place is clean and it has a clean restroom also. They also serve different wraps and acacia bowls and salads and toasts for the morning time. They offer free wifi just ask for the code and the day I went they were giving free juice shots if you followed them on Instagram. So make sure that check their Instagram when you go to see if they have anything special going on that day! Overall If you are looking for a healthy unique drink I would go here. Good place if you're into hipster culture! Now that that disclaimer is out of the way, don't get me wrong. I'm really into hipster culture and I definitely identify with them (proud Millennial here) and love all their innovations and creativity. But sometimes, I do think they go a bit too far. I went to Kale Me Crazy because I've been curious and just wanted to see what the hype was about. I ended up ordering the Green Dream smoothie. For $9.03 (I gave a $1 tip), I just didn't think it was worth it. The taste was fine, it was really fresh and smooth and tasted healthy without tasting healthy, if you get what I mean. But for almost $10, I would've expected something more filling. The amount was similar to a Starbucks Grande cup. I finished the smoothie before even realizing it. I know that the ingredients are fresh and they want consumers to be healthy but it was unjustifiably expensive. I would rather buy my own fruits and veggies and blend at home for a cheaper and more customizable option. Quite honestly, I don't get the 4 and a half stars. I ordered the Tropical Trippin' smoothie ($7.00) and the Salmon Wrap ($12.50), and the person I was with ordered the Chicken Pesto Wrap ($10). We split the wraps and shared them. Though the quality was good in both, the wraps were small and not worth the price. The Salmon Wrap was mostly filled with arugula and the Chicken Pesto Wrap was practically lunch meat. They tasted good, but once again, not worth the price. I want to live forever, so it's no mystery that a place that celebrates juice cleanses and all degrees of organic nonsense delights my serious sense of self-preservation. Also, I had plans to trip acid later that night so l figured I should fortify the temple of my young body before desecrating it after sundown. Despite ordering at random, I felt comfortably health-conscious al the way through. I got The Glow and girl did I catch it GOOD. Pineapple and grapefruit go well together to make turmeric drinkable and somehow taste like Sunny D. I loved it and was super pumped to be paying $8 for a juice. (Wait, what?) Our cabal of trendy eaters looking for our clean fix dabbled in their combo offerings of fancy wraps and refreshing salads. The Greek salad was exciting and distinct yet remained faithful to its classic roots despite its twists. The beets in their eponymous salad paired well with decadent goat cheese. The pear apple salad came tossed in a glorious orange balsamic. The wraps were great and super dependable. I'd easily order any of them again, the pesto chicken my clear favorite. This wrap alone is $10. A combo looks to be about $12-13 range. The power bars are like $4. The food took maybe 15-20 minutes to prepare, which was a pinch curious given that we were the only customers (maybe 2 or 3 came in after?) The prices can be confusing because on one hand, milking a cashew sounds labor intensive; I guess I'll pay extra for the convenience of having someone else do it for me. I also imagine goji berries aren't cheap. My other hand is clutching my wallet, skeptical about my value ratios. Is my food exciting enough to be expensive? Are my portions satisfying? I guess so. My experience was positive so I'm inclined to pass on my enthusiasm. The real test would have to come when I'm grumpy and they're busy, wouldn't it? Decatur is so lucky to have Kale Me Crazy as a healthy option in our world filled with non healthy fast food type options. Last year I participated in a food cleanse to focus on healthy eating and Kale Me Crazy was one of the only places around town that contained many good options for eating out during the cleanse. They have smoothies, cold-pressed juices, wraps, coffee, toasts, and salads galore. I like the robust quinoa salad that comes with a hearty helping of quinoa, kale, carrots, cucumbers, avocado, herbs, peppers, and garbanzo beans. That's a whole lot of veggies packed in there and will help you meet your green quota quickly! On top of being super healthy, this quinoa salad is delicious especially with the lemon vinaigrette dressing.
