I wanted to take my hubby somewhere for Father's Day without all the craziness as we both are also in the restaurant industry. I double checked what time they closed before coming because I always hated when people come in at the last minute. We arrived at 8:30, it was pretty empty, a large party and a few scattered tables. We were greeted right away but no one sat us for a few minutes, it seemed like, the servers were more concerned with other things. We got sat, let's say 8:34. No one came to our table to get our order until 8:55. The manager, I assume asked one of the servers if we had been helped, I made eye contact with her, and shook my head No. Our server "Many" seemed unsure if the table was his or not. There was quite a bit of dirty tables and the hustle/speed of service was not what you would hope for with the amount of open tables and other customers here. This is only our 2nd time at this location, the first time was pretty awesome. Not sure if it's just an off night or something. Kalaveras could absolutely be amazing and packed to the brim, just might need more attention to detail with customer service, speed of service and hospitality. The manager has a great personality and is very personable, coach this skill to your crew. I saw you hustling, running food, running the crew and smiling. Our food was delicious, it came out hot and plentiful.

Finally a manager approached and apologized for the oversight and took our drink order just to hand us off to the same person that walked past us several times. The food was slow to come out, the drinks were never asked to be refreshed and finally we asked for the bill...I paid cash knowing I would have been there for another 30 minutes waiting for the receipt and left. Avoid this place, sadly it's horrible.
I hate to do this but this is extremely unprofessional. I took my fiancé out on a date day on Saturday 1/3/2026. Mark my server decided to add himself another tip. I left him $15 cash which is a little over 20% tip and yet I come to find out that he added another tip of $19.54. Currently disputing it with my bank, I've tried to call the restaurant (no answer). If I could give a 0 star I would. Double check your receipts and charge amounts. Don't trust Mark or this company. Skinny light skinned Hispanic male. Food ain't worth the scam.
Very nice place. Wasn't crowded at all which I love. The food and the drinks were really good. Also, food came very fast which is a plus. I'd definitely come again!
This Calaveras looks outdated. Not that ma y customers many tables were empty. The food was ok not bad but also not impressive. The customer service was good considering the server did t have more than 5 ish tables
Make sure before you go you call and see if Christian is in the bar. That boy knows how to make a drink. I was very thirsty and he took care of it, he sure did know about peaches. I left satisfied.. He definitely has coming back for more!!! Oh and the food was good too!

Service attentive and fun. Had a carnitas Taco and the tacos Dorado. Again the flavors were amazing. The pics are not entirely accurate to the way they serve these dishes....I have a sensitive palate to spice so I have them take some things off. But if you like spice and heat, you will be at home here. I'll return again and again. I do appreciate restaurants that are not afraid of bold flavors! Kalaveras has balls!

Came for Sunday brunch, for my friend's birthday. Service was good . Food is always fresh & delicious. I've been coming to Kalaveras for years now. I always enjoy the Fun & vibrant ambiance!
Kalaveras is a great place to socialize at. I came here as a party of 14 and they were able to accommodate us easy. We came in on a Thursday night without any reservations and we got seated right away. It was busy but no waiting. Our server was really nice, helpful, and quick with getting everything. We luckily came right before happy hour (2-7pm) ended. I like that their happy hour included lots of food options and margaritas were only $8 but you can add an extra shot for $3. I like that the extra shot came on the side. And they had so many different flavors of margaritas. Oh and bonus points for them being on the rocks instead of blended. They also have daily drink specials, including Thursday having cheaper micheladas. I found their drinks to be quite good. For food we ended up sharing a bunch of tacos, queso fundido, loaded asada fries, and buffalo wings. My favorites were the tacos and loaded asada fries. The buffalo wings were teeny tiny and the smallest wings I had ever seen in my entire life. They were laughable and we got a kick out of them, but I really do not recommend them. Besides the happy hour items we got, they also have quite an extensive menu. Their drink and food menu is large and there is so much to choose from. They even had full plates such as lomo saltado, burritos, enchiladas, and fajitas. I want to come back to try their empanadas and ceviche. Oh and they have a brunch buffet on Sundays that includes unlimited mimosas for $35. Service was great and food was definitely affordable. It has a cool vibe inside and is loud with music. It's great for smaller parties or large ones. Its super spacious with a full bar. I would definitely come back with friends to hang out at.
I tried this branch out originally in the Riverside location. I always thought the food was very good. They have an outdoor patio that is good for dogs and it wasn't crowded on a Thursday evening. We were greeted pretty quickly and served yummy chips upon arrival. The food is overall tasty but a little weird on how they charge us for the fajita. They did the initial pricing of $17 then added an additional maybe $15 because we got the combo. I wish that was stated a little bit more clear so that we understood how the billing worked. But otherwise a decent experience I hope this is able to sustain because this is prior that came here didn't do too well.
A friend of mine was craving Mexican food, so they brought me to this location. This was my first interaction with this brand. Kalaveras is a Mexican restaurant chain with about two dozen locations throughout Southern California. If you examine the menu, it's basically "Mexican" food--but there are a few fusion dishes, and I think they incorporate some other Latin American food influences as well. Compared to El Torito and Acapulco's, I suspect that Kalaveras is trying to cater to a younger audience with its decor, music and TVs. The food here is also a little spicier compared to the other two brands mentioned. I'm still biased in favor of family-owned Mexican restaurants which have a distinct flavor profile, derived from their state of origin. However, the food here is better than okay. It's very good, when compared to a lot of other Mexican restaurant chains. During our visit, the service was good; the food was good; but I felt the music volume was excessive, given dining room occupancy at the time--or maybe, I'm getting old ;-)
I had a fun and memorable time at Kalaveras. They have good food and good vibes. I would definitely recommend going during happy hour. It is from Monday to Friday from 2-6 and they have a taco bar that you just can't pass up. We got the loaded asada fries, birria tacos, and chicken tacos all from the happy hour menu. The taco bar tacos are only $1.99! They hand press the tortillas and pan fry it front of you so it's fresh. The asada fries and birria tacos are $7.99. You can also add on grilled onions, jalapeños, salsas, cilantro, etc.. We also got a couple of alcoholic drinks. I specifically got the strawberry slushie margarita and it was super refreshing. It was also huge for only $10! All in all, I had a great time. We were celebrating a birthday and the employees sang to them and gave them a little dessert! I will definitely be back to enjoy more delicious Mexican foods off the menu. read more
We were there on a Mon night for happy hour & we got to watch Monday night football while there! There's music playing in the background, but it's not so noisy that you can't hold a conversation. Service here was great - wait staff checked on us, got rid of empties quick, refilled chips/ salsa & water, etc. maybe since it was a quiet Mon, we got all the attention. I got a guava margarita for the Mon price of $6.99 & ordered 2 hot apps for $7.99 each - loaded asada fries & queso birria fries. It was super delicious & there was so much, I was able to take home 1/2 of each app. read more

Yummmy yummmyyyy yum yum yummmmaaayyyy!!! Arribbaaa!!! Place is totally dinero (money). Excuse my excitement but Kala is 1 mile away from my house and I never knew it existed before tonight. Barbacoa wet burrito is ridiculously delicious with big beautiful chunks of lovely meat.. super high quality, not a lot of fat. Thing is completely beautiful and basically a work of art (see my pics). I am terrible about taking pics but had to this time. Shrimp tacos were tasty but that burrito stole the show for me. Asada nachos are beyond super.. dare I say, I think they reached a level of SUPER HERO! Still that burrito.. mmmm, that burrito.. DAMN!!! Ambiance is very nice, albeit loud but that's ok. Very clean, lots of pretty neon lights.. it basically looks like the burrito but in restaurant form. Service is totally friendly, courteous and prompt! Prices are not bad for the quality and quantity of food... that burrito must be 2 pounds!!! Oh and place is open until 11! So in love with this spot already.. I'll be back.. this is probably a once a week spot for me and would be great for family, dates, friends, coworkers, whatever. Super hero easy 5 stars.. this is more like 5+. You guys are killing it.. keep it up! Love it. read more

Came here for lunch with my family, we were seated right away and the hostess was super friendly. However the food was just mediocre. It was not horrible, just mediocre food plated real nice. Kids Plate: for the price it was decent, I actually enjoyed that more than my dish. Simple and done well Burrito: it was just ok, had decent flavor but it was lacking something. It was a decent size, priced ok. Enchiladas: these were not that good, skip these and get a taco or burrito. Nachos: these were the best part of our meal. So cheesy and good! Overall, not horrible, but for the price I'll skip. read more

Wanted to love this place but can't. The food was good. $8 for a happy hour margarita was steep. Service was good. I don't think they pay for cable? Every tv had these gangster rap videos. Don't get me wrong. Hot chicks but when I asked for a NBA game to be turned on they couldn't do it. Not sure I'll be back for that reason. read more

This place was really good! You know it's a good sign when you get your drinks and all go "wow!". I had the guavarita which was sweet and delicious and my friends got cocktails with Mezcal which they loved. Chips and salsa Everyone enjoyed their meals and ate every last bite! The decor was really cute and they were playing good music. The music was a little loud which would be my only complaint, but we were fine with it and seemed to be the vibe they were going for. Definitely would recommend for a night out with friends! Oh! And I almost forgot! We got the horchata colada and churro sandwich for dessert! Holy!!! Both were AMAZING!!! read more
Love this place! The atmosphere is super nice and they're basting good music all night. Our server Brian was very kind and attentive! They give you chips and salsa to snack on while you figure out what to order. I got the Kala bowl with the asada and the meat was so soft and tender! Their margaritas flight was a good deal and came with different flavors to try. Tasted a bit strong! They hae different deals for different days as well as a happy Hour! We've been here a few times and each visit has been very nice. The staff is always accommodating and friendly and the food is great! I love the chicharrones, the guacamole, and the carnitas. The husband gets the asada, which is delicious. I am very particular about beans and these are fuego. We loved our server Jackie today. I've always wanted to write a review and she made the experience exceptional! She was helpful, kind, and attentive. Jackie catered to my specific needs and ensured that the overall experience was phenomenal. Thanks Jackie! We will be back. read more

Definitely a fun spot to visit whether you're celebrating or hanging out with friends. It's decorated vibrantly and have music blasting so it's a vibe but that does make it slightly difficult to have conversations since it's a bit loud. I stopped by during the soft opening and Brian, our server, was friendly, nice, and attentive. He gave great suggestions based on our preferences for the drinks and also informed us of the specials they had going on that day. They do have Happy Hour along with Daily Specials based on the day of the week such as Mezcal Wednesday. The chips and salsa was a nice snack while figuring out what to order and perusing through the menu. There's a lot of options to choose from for both the drinks and the food. Plenty of margarita and Mezcal options along with some fun drinks as well which involve smoke or fire. I tried the Enchiladas Verde which was tasty and came with rice and beans. Also got the Piña con Chile which was refreshing with a little bit of tart and sweetness. There's plenty of parking options both behind the restaurant and around which was nice. read more
We went here for a quick bite one Friday night. It was difficult to park, as they were resurfacing the parking lot, so we had to find street parking. This is nothing against the restaurant. When we entered, again on a Friday evening, it was very, very empty. I would like to think this is because no one could find parking. Maybe it is because of the location (far from downtown HB closer to the car dealerships and such). We ordered drinks and nachos. Everything tasted fine, and our server was very friendly. The decor is lively and I think this would be a great spot if it were a bit closer to the PCH. We may try it again. read more
