    I hate this part...
    Nito E.

So I came in here reluctantly but things are actually pretty good. Dr. Alexander was thorough and I never felt like he didn't care. LVN Crystal was the best! Usually people stab me a dozen times in each arm before they call for help finding a vein, yet Crystal tried something that I had never seen before (hot packs) and it worked the first time. She also called over Michael because I asked about him and before I knew it, she filled up 7 containers for blood. Did I mention Michael was like... IG model, giving The Rock a run for his money fine? Anyway, where was I? Okay, they treated me with compassion, professionalism and were very attentive. IDK what these other reviewers are barking about because this place is great.... Well, the staff is great; however, the building needs a remodel. P.S. I was hungry and the cafeteria was closed, so Crystal got me some cranberry juice and graham crackers. How thoughtful.

In this small waiting room it took for everrrrrrr.

All the doctors and staff I've encountered here have all been so nice and welcoming to me whenever I've had a stay in the ER/Hospital. I had a procedure a few months ago, to figure a couple symptoms I had been having to clear up any assumptions. Amy did insurances. Alison did all my pre procedure work up. John was my post procedure nurse. A few others helped me, and I won't disclose the Doctor that did the surgery, because I don't want all my business out there. But I'm thankful for everyone and how comfortable they made me and how well put together all the staff is. Always recommend Tracy Sutter to anyone looking for top care for health services.

Nurse Arnold had a great sense of humor and genuinely tried to soften the blow of a long wait. Dr. Lavelle and the rest of the medical team kept me informed as test results came in, which I appreciated. That said, the quality of care after the decision to admit was extremely disappointing. Being left on a hard, outdated gurney for over 10 hours while waiting for a bed is unacceptable. I have worked in hospitals across the Southeast, the Midwest, and now California, and this was by far the worst experience I've had in this regard. What made it worse was the lack of communication. Hospitals use admissions boards and can provide at least an estimated wait time, yet no one offered updates or acknowledged the delay. Being left in the dark for hours isn't just frustrating--it feels dismissive and rude. Now let's talk about Area 3N (CDU). First, kudos to the staff who work there under these conditions. Dani and the noc shift, as well as Tigen and the day shift, were outstanding--professional, compassionate, and genuinely comforting to patients. They deserve recognition for doing the best they can in a very challenging environment. The EGD Team was also excellent. The music in the procedure room was a thoughtful touch--before the first beat of classic rock finished, I was already out. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of this unit is appalling. I checked in at 7:00 p.m., and the first time I saw housekeeping was 2:30 p.m. the following day. Patients are placed in a large shared space, with more than 10 people sharing a single bathroom that was not kept clean overnight. However, serious HIPAA violations occurred in Area 3N. Patients are housed in a large, open shared space with thin partitions. Throughout the night and following day, I could clearly hear full patient names, diagnoses, test results, treatment plans, and physician-patient conversations from surrounding cubicles. Doctors conducted bedside discussions containing protected health information in full earshot of other patients and visitors. I'm tired of hearing "short staffing" used as an explanation. Patients deserve dignity, communication, privacy, basic cleanliness, and a safe environment. The frontline staff are doing their best, but the system fails patients once admission is decided. This is not the level of care the public should be expected to accept.

So I went to the ER about 2:30 a.m. and I got out of there by 5:30 a.m. I got two shots one of each arm and one on my right side it hurts so bad and then I got ibuprofen so I told them I will pick up my prescription at my pharmacist I don't know if I should have opened my mouth and told them I don't have no money but they the medication came up to $35 the next time I go into the ER I'm going to be very clear with them I don't care if you got to give me the off-brand $35 is a lot I could have did a lot with that. I want to begin by saying that the medical teams who treated my injury were exceptional--ER staff, the surgeon, anesthesiologist, surgical team, and floor nurses all provided excellent care and bedside manner. Unfortunately, the case management and administrative follow‑up were the opposite: disorganized, dismissive, and lacking compassion. After the case manager's third visit, I requested reassignment because of repeated issues. During her first visit--less than a day after surgery and my first PT session--she abruptly announced she was ordering equipment. I had already discussed choosing a wheelchair with PT (insurance covers only one item), but when I tried to explain this, she cut me off and repeated, "Insurance will only cover one." When I attempted to tell her about the steps at my home and the need for a ramp, she again interrupted and said, "Insurance won't cover that, you're on your own," offering no resources or guidance. Later, while I was on the phone trying to locate a ramp myself, she stood in my room sighing and rolling her eyes. She then told me I had been discharged--even though my nurse had just started an IV for low vitamin levels, I still had two doses left, the equipment she ordered hadn't arrived, and I still had no safe way to enter my home. When she asked if I had walked yet, I reminded her I was non‑weight‑bearing for at least two months. She then asked if I had Medicare, which I do not--another sign she hadn't reviewed my chart. I told her directly that her approach felt rude, rushed, and unsafe, and asked for a different case manager. Hours later, I learned the pharmacy couldn't fill my medication because it required prior authorization. When I called the operator asking for a patient advocate, I was transferred to a non‑working extension. After calling back and explaining the urgency, I was sent to the second case manager. She cut me off immediately, said she had "just received the information," and submitted the authorization but refused to follow up to ensure it went through. When I mentioned that home health also lacked prior authorization, she admitted it hadn't been done yet. She did not address my concerns about the first case manager and abruptly ended the call. In the days since, I have repeatedly tried to reach a patient advocate. Neither the hospital operator nor the main Sutter line could provide a working number. When the operator attempted to transfer me to her manager, the call went to voicemail and disconnected mid‑message. The medical teams make Sutter look excellent, but case management and administrative systems make patients feel abandoned. These failures matter--especially when patients are in pain, scared, and relying on the hospital to ensure safe discharge planning. When healthcare systems make it this difficult to advocate for ourselves, it discourages people from seeking care at all. Sutter needs to do better. Kaiser, in my experience, is far ahead in efficiency and patient support. As one example, I was told it would take five months to see an endocrinologist for a serious genetic condition--whereas with Kaiser, specialist appointments took only a few days.

From start to finish, the entire team went above and beyond what we could have hoped for. * The nurses, technicians, and staff were amazing -- extremely hard-working, passionate, and clearly dedicated to their patients. * The clinic was very supportive of us as intended parents and had a strong understanding of the surrogacy process, which made us feel respected and included. * The nursing team ensured that we were heard and thoughtfully made sure we could interact with our son the very moment he was born. That meant the world to us. * The staff also showed extraordinary kindness by giving us a room in the postpartum section even before our baby was born, so that we could stay close to our surrogate during labor and delivery. Since labor lasted 2.5 days, this was a tremendous gift of comfort and connection. * The hospital itself is thoughtfully designed -- the small open courtyards and green spaces provided us with brief but meaningful moments of respite during an emotional journey. We also want to highlight Dr. Felix Sanchez, who worked closely with the Emanuel Medical Center team. With over 40 years of experience, his expertise and commitment gave us confidence at every step. He is tireless, splitting time between his clinic and the hospital, and was always available when needed. Together with the hospital's staff, he ensured the safest outcome for both surrogate and baby. Emanuel Medical Center truly supported us beyond what we expected. Their professionalism, compassion, and humanity made one of the most important experiences of our lives even more meaningful. We will always be grateful for their care and for the hard work of every member of the team.
