Waiting area of ER
Jass J.

In my opinion, it is the worst emergency room in town--perhaps even in the state--where the staff seem to lack the knowledge, professionalism, and efficiency required for proper patient care. During my second visit--once in January and again in February--I was forced to wait outside in the cold. On both occasions, I waited two hours before being called in for a blood pressure check, only to be sent back out and made to wait an additional two hours. Every time I approached the receptionist, she appeared completely unaware of what was happening behind the scenes, and it was evident that they had no effective system for tracking patients. After a total wait time of four hours, I had no choice but to drive to the Modesto ER to see a doctor. Based on my experience, I believe this facility should be shut down altogether.

I hate this part...

So I came in here reluctantly but things are actually pretty good. Dr. Alexander was thorough and I never felt like he didn't care. LVN Crystal was the best! Usually people stab me a dozen times in each arm before they call for help finding a vein, yet Crystal tried something that I had never seen before (hot packs) and it worked the first time. She also called over Michael because I asked about him and before I knew it, she filled up 7 containers for blood. Did I mention Michael was like... IG model, giving The Rock a run for his money fine? Anyway, where was I? Okay, they treated me with compassion, professionalism and were very attentive. IDK what these other reviewers are barking about because this place is great.... Well, the staff is great; however, the building needs a remodel. P.S. I was hungry and the cafeteria was closed, so Crystal got me some cranberry juice and graham crackers. How thoughtful.

In this small waiting room it took for everrrrrrr.

During such a stressful and emotional time for our family, the nurses showed incredible kindness, patience, professionalism, and genuine concern for my mom's well-being. They didn't just provide medical care they treated her with dignity and made our family feel supported and reassured every step of the way. It takes a very special person to care for others during their most vulnerable moments, and we truly felt that dedication from the nurses who cared for my mom. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the ER Doctors Nurses and ICU nurses and staff at Sutter Hospital. Your compassion and commitment will never be forgotten. We are deeply grateful for everything you did for my mom and our family.

All the doctors and staff I've encountered here have all been so nice and welcoming to me whenever I've had a stay in the ER/Hospital. I had a procedure a few months ago, to figure a couple symptoms I had been having to clear up any assumptions. Amy did insurances. Alison did all my pre procedure work up. John was my post procedure nurse. A few others helped me, and I won't disclose the Doctor that did the surgery, because I don't want all my business out there. I was very impressed with the organization of the staff and care. Everyone was busy and professional. They all just did their jobs and nobody was complaining or looking unhappy. It took a little while for the exam and stitches and discharge and they apologized for the amount of time. I felt that even though my injury was an emergency, I was treated in an appropriate time frame and I'm sure there were way worst illnesses and injuries than mine. I received messages to make sure I had follow up care which I had already arranged with my primary doctor. Although I certainly hope I will have no reason for a return ER visit, it was a positive experience.

Instead of helping us out, he started raising his voice and yelling that we should be able to get it transferred to us. When our pharmacist tried to explain that our electronic system did not allow us to transfer narcotic prescriptions between the 2 pharmacies, he became more rude, started raising his voice more and kept repeating himself. First of all, he is not the one prescribing the medication and he should have called the provider who sent the prescription so we could talk to them to send RX to the right pharmacy instead of wasting our time arguing while the patient is in pain! Secondly, we also needed a clarification on the order which he did not forward to the provider then hung up on us and when we called back, he wouldn't answer. Maybe he has only worked at a hospital pharmacy and does not understand that not all retail pharmacy systems are set up to transfer a narcotic prescription. He should be trained to learn how to speak over the phone before calls are simply transferred to him. Yelling and repeating himself on the phone instead of getting to a solution is the last thing anyone needs from a pharmacist, let alone a hospital pharmacist who should be able to handle much more than usual given the type of work they do.

I would not normally go to the ER when an Urgent Care clinic is open and appropriate for my…read morecondition. In this case, however, I needed to be evaluated because I believed a fish bone was stuck in my throat and I was experiencing pain when swallowing. I want to clarify that I did not mind waiting for four hours. I understood that my condition was not life-threatening and that patients with more urgent needs had to be prioritized. I was triaged in a timely manner, and I saw how hard the nurses were working to care for multiple patients. I truly appreciate their efforts. What I hope management can look into is why my overall stay lasted four hours and whether some of that time could have been avoided. The doctor saw me approximately one hour after triage but was unable to visualize the fish bone. The X-ray also did not show it, although I continued to feel that something was lodged in my throat and had pain with swallowing. After the evaluation, I believe I could have been discharged sooner if my pain medication had been delivered and administered promptly. My room could then have been made available to another patient who appeared uncomfortable and may have needed the space more urgently. Perhaps the medication/pharmacy delivery process could be reviewed to determine whether there was an unnecessary delay. Even a relatively small delay can add significant time to an ER visit, especially when the patient is otherwise ready to be discharged. I would also like to give special recognition to Nurse Rose and the admitting clerk. Both were compassionate, caring, and attentive. They checked on me, made sure I was okay, and asked if I was comfortable while I waited. Their kindness made a positive difference in my experience. Overall, I understand that the ER must prioritize patients according to the seriousness of their conditions, and I have great respect for the nurses and staff who work under those circumstances. My feedback is not about the four-hour wait itself, but about identifying opportunities to improve the process--particularly medication delivery and discharge--so that patients who are ready to go home can do so sooner, while treatment rooms can be made available for those who need them. Thank you for taking my feedback into consideration.

I read the instructions they said to test it behind my ear and leave it on for 6 hours I wasn't having any problems so I thought let me just go ahead and try to dye my whole hair why did I do that?!?! I don't know if anyone is familiar with the movie The Goonies but I look like I could have been his little sister "Hey You Guys." I have scabs all through my head my right ear got so big and it's just leaking my thyroids were inflamed. So I went to the ER about 2:30 a.m. and I got out of there by 5:30 a.m. I got two shots one of each arm and one on my right side it hurts so bad and then I got ibuprofen so I told them I will pick up my prescription at my pharmacist I don't know if I should have opened my mouth and told them I don't have no money but they the medication came up to $35 the next time I go into the ER I'm going to be very clear with them I don't care if you got to give me the off-brand $35 is a lot I could have did a lot with that. The service was fast and quick but the way this economy is going I'm quite upset I felt like you should gave me the off-brand stuff or charged me the off-brand. FYI I will not be posting before and after I don't want to send nobody to the ER.

What had happened here in this hospital has been unacceptable, I hope if you live within this area there is a better hospital to attend if you have any emergencies, this hospital has failed in basic needs for their patients, deeply disappointed. The discharge papers we had to ask for after saying that he already had them said he only had a concussion and nothing in the discharge papers ever mentioned that they gave him stitches, how to care for them or anything, I really want people to know how bad the service here is and to go to any other hospital or emergency room nearby

DO NOT COME HERE! I…read morevisited the Adventist Health Lodi Memorial in Lodi, CA [975 S Fairmont Ave] on Sunday, 08/09/26. I came here because my loved one was feeling beyond ill and needed medical attention. Let's just say that a lot of things were spiraling out of control that made the visit extremely unpleasant. There were a lot of negatives. CONS: - Asked the triage nurse Mackenzie for a blanket for my loved one due to feeling cold, and didn't assist with providing one. - Because a blanket was not offered initially, I had to take my loved one outside in the heat in the interim. - After I stepped back inside, I saw another patient getting a blanket from the front desk associate. Very frustrating because my loved one was not provided one when requested. - Took nearly 3 hours to be seen by an MD. The emergency doctor was by the name of Dr. Tayler Strange. She mentioned that she was the only ER doctor working and everyone was working as fast as they could. - Dr. Strange didn't fully list out all of the medical concerns and chief complaints for my loved one on the medical chart, which caused a discrepancy with the medical staff/nurses. - Dr. Strange also promised to issue certain medication to my loved one and it never happened. My loved one was experiencing excruciating pain and a lot of distress. We requested an urgent message to be sent to Dr. Strange to rectify this situation. It took such a long time to get the medication. Then, the visit got much worse. Dr. Strange falsely accused me of recording her when explaining all of the health concerns verbally about my loved one. I was ONLY simply taking and typing NOTES on my phone. Why was there a reason to record? It was reported to security and the charge nurse, and they both asked me to show my phone. After this incident of being falsely accused, there was no sort of sympathy or apology. Just extremely rude about how they went about the situation. Then, the charge nurse almost threatened me to go back to the lobby area because of how I was feeling about the entire situation. Emphasis on "strange" as a whole. This hospital got us messed up times 10 exponentially. If this is the way they operate in treating individuals, especially with medical care neglect, refusal of blankets, and false accusations without any apology for their wrongdoing, then we refuse to come back to this entity. Adventist Health Lodi Memorial is a practice that is the epitome of unethical, immoral standards. If I could on Yelp, NO STARS! BEWARE!

In my opinion, this institution is a huge setback to our area. They seem to be more concerned with…read moretheir own interests than the people they "serve". I have tried for over a month to contact patient relations. I got one call back from "Ashley". I called back leaving messages to call back, but now for over a month, they have seemingly deliberately ignored my requests. I put another call in to the main 3333 number to make a fresh request. The person answering clearly knew who I was and what the situation I was calling about was. I was assured I would be called back, but as of one week I have heard nothing. In general, I hear many people say that the doctors there generally don't really care about their patients, that they are arrogant, and don't communicate well. There is much more that i could say, but i will say that a large majority of the staff, are genuine people from our area, and do their job well, but the medical providers are the main problem that i have noticed and heard complaints about. There are definitely some good doctors, but they apper the exception not the rule. i only have experience with certain providers. Some are great some not at all. I do hear feed back from a number of people i know who feel similarly. One other important observation is that when you rate a Stanford doctor highly, they give you a rating questionnaire AFTER EVERY VISIT. Once you give a bad rating, say because you learned that an "excellent " physician was actually a "fair weather friend" and suddenly wasn't so good at all if things got challenging, then they seem to stop asking for evaluations. You will notice that their physicians public individual ratings are based on internal surveys, and it is difficult to find a way to rate the physician outside of their internal system, thus likely artificially boosting their ratings by limiting the negative ratings...

If you are a WOC with break through pain from chronic pain cluster headaches, hemiplegic migraines,…read moreand trigeminal neuralgia/ atypical facial pain...if you choose standards ED proceed with caution. IKYKY Came to the ED for a really bad cluster headache and trigeminal neuralgia attack. Feel free to look up the nicknames for those illnesses. When getting treatment, a PA made sure to tell me he doesn't prescribe narcotics, which was odd because that would actually make my pain worse and I'm allergic to them. The comment came unprompted when I was crying and the nurse trying to start an IV. They gave me fluids and migraine cocktail despite telling them it won't work. The treatment finishes, and as expected it didn't work. I eventually get to the observation unit, not technically admitted but there to get some imaging. They give me IV Tylenol, after telling me that I might have a Tylenol overuse headache along with more fluids. I got Ativan for an MRI, had the scan, and then go to bed around midnight. I wake up 3 hours later in excruciating pain and used the call butting to ask for pain relief. They bring me both ice and a hot pack. When the nurse came I did my best to not cry, only because it would have increased my pain, and hugged a pillow while they gave me the packs. 2 hours passed and I'm sobbing and absolutely inconsolable. This pain was past the 10/10 limit on the pain scale. I was in so much pain to the point my mental health was becoming compromised. I rang the call button through out the night and was only given heat packs. Hours passed in a pure state of paralyzing pain until around 9-10AM when a nurse came in to check on me. I was just crying, not able to do anything but just curl up in a ball and wanted to just go home and be with my pets if I was just going to suffer. I came here because UCSF ran out of answers on what they can do to help me very treatment resistant pain. They eventually give me more Ativan to stop me from crying and then left me alone in my room still in excruciating pain. Around noon I had finally gotten highflow oxygen, which I learned at the time was the tip treatment for cluster headaches. I waited in so much and felt so vulnerable and minimized with how I was treated. They were happy to use Ativan to stop me from crying from pain because I guess it's annoying, than to actually treat conditions called the suic*de headache/ disease and help me get to a pain level that is bearable. The neurologist that saw me gave me the "I'm sorry this is happening" and refused to write an RX because I didn't qualify due to me not having respiratory issues despite oxygen being the recommended treatment for my cluster headaches. They recommended that I come back every time for O2 for my cluster headaches instead of having a home treatment. This experience was definitely a learning moment, I didn't get this type of treatment that had such contempt for chronic pain patients when I lived in Oakland and went to Highland. I left feeling like I should have never came to the ER and should have dealt with this by my self at home, no matter how bad it gets. I guess the silver lining is that they were less condescending than UCSF, I guess. The only reason why I would come back is because my options are limited on where I can go.
