You cannot order sushi from the guys behind the counter which is kind of a bummer. We ordered the daily lunch menu. This includes 1 appetizer and 2 plates. The tofu and mushroom appetizer was very good. The tofu was very thick and creamy, not the type that you can buy at the store and it was topped with shemeji mushrooms and then based in some ponzu type sauce. Yum! The noodles and iberica jamon was a bit surprising. It was served room temperature with some nice flavorful and smoky pieces of pork. Broth was flavorful but just a bit too salty. Husband loved his mackeral stewed in miso broth and said it was totally comfort food. It came with golf sized pieces of taro and other vegetables. The full order of sushi was HUGE and comes at the end. It included 5 pieces of nigiri sushi (1 amazing chutoro) and 3 maki rolls of maguro, tuna, and cucumber. This will fill you up! I got the maki nigiri combo, seaweed and the Yaki soba. The Yaki soba was yummy but it didn't resemble the actual Japanese dish at all. The seaweed was disappointing, as it came in a heavy soy sauce with cucumber slices. However, the nigiri was pretty decent. There's a lot of tempura on the menu of course, but they also have sushi and a lot of other typical Japanese items. Tried were the gyoza- tasty and good consistency; tempura udon- noodles good and broth savory and comforting, but the tempura does not come separate and got soggy real fast in the soup; sukiyaki udon- my partner said it hit the spot; tekka maki (basic tuna sushi roll)- clean and simple; and green tea cheesecake- DELICIOSO! If you're a fan of Japanese food and in the area, I'd definitely recommend this place. If I lived in the area, I would probably be a regular!
