My lips and tongue were numb after eating the super spicy meal. I'm Indian - I usually handle my spice so you know I am saying something here!

My brother recommended this Thai restaurant, tucked into a quiet street, off the main Old Northern Road. I booked a table for six without any problems, and a delightful evening ensued. The restaurant is quite posh and spectacularly lit, with cool lounges and booths. The food is as impressive as the decor, and the service attentive and efficient. We started with a couple of platters of mixed entrees (dim sims, satay sticks, curry puffs, spring rolls) which arrived quickly and were devoured just as quickly. In fact, my dad, who stepped out for a moment to grab the camera from the car, almost completely missed out on the starters (I think we left him a dumpling). We soon wished we had slowed down a little because it was time for the mains. I wasn't the one who ordered but it seems like we got a bit of everything-every time I looked up, a waitress came over with yet another delicious beef, chicken or seafood plate, or another serving of perfect fluffy rice. When everyone was so full we couldn't move, the staff knew when to give us space so I could enjoy the company of my family and loved ones (and the presents of course!). I was certainly spoilt that night-what a great find! But keep this one just between you and I ok? This is the best Thai food I have tried in the Hills area. I recommend BYO for group celebrations so you can reserve your hard earned cash for those scrumptious dishes.

I normally do all the party organising so I was a bit weary. But I had to commend him, I was very impressed. The restaurant was packed when we walked, that is always a good sign. They have tried to create that Thai, Balinese environment with the furniture which is great and all the girls serving you are Thai and so are the chefs, that is also a good sign. Most people in our group opted for the banquet which consisted of a variety of dishes. One of our guests suggested it wasn't enough so they ordered another main to share between 2. I can understand why, the food was absolutely delicious. I could not stop eating. I ordered a main, my favourite Thai dish - $15.90 - Chilli, Chicken & Basil Stir Fry. Bloody delicious. I also love Thai food but I am a huge critic. It has to be authentic tasting and have lots of chilli in it! I could not fault this place. The food was delicious and they served really big portions. I also tried the chicken fried rice, it also was good. The Banquet was good value - $25p.p for a minimum group of 4. We couldn't believe how fast the food came out. I am sure this was due to the flaming kitchen! You know it's a talented chef when he can have the kitchen bursting in flames and still send the food out not tasting burnt. Good prices, good food, generous portions, friendly waitresses - you can't go wrong.

I've dragged many a reluctant thai virgin here and converted them. I myself started to enjoy Thai food when I was introduced here. Yes, it's that yum. The service is very friendly and thai, they cater to whatever customisation whims you may have. The decor is clean and comfy, sort of a Balinese inspired style going on. It's a very open air restaurant but still indoors with a relaxing ambience. They do lunch and dinner options, including takeaway and delivery. Our favourites are the satay chicken skewers, marinated bbq beef strips and the best chicken pad thai known to man. I don't know what type of sauce they put in it but it is the kicker! Honestly we spent a good deal of time scouring Bangkok for a chicken pad thai dish that could even taste remotely close to what they do here to no avail. It's perfect. Now you can also do choose your own stir frys or noodle dishes where you can select whatever meat or sauce or noodle type to use. Customisation options is probably why I love this place. They also do some mean curries here if that's more your speed, try the massaman. There's plenty of choice for mains also. You can see the cooks cooking up a storm which results in being served food very quickly. They serve large portions so usually end up having to takeaway. I've yet to have a bad experience here and the prices very affordable here for the quality and quantity served which amounted to the five stars. Always recommend this place!

Thai Terrace is conveniently located a short walk from Central Station, making it perfect for hungry uni students and CBD workers alike. The menu is extensive, including all the favourites like pad thai, fried rice and the curries. The tom yum fried rice is very yummy (sorry), tangy and full of flavour that is usually absent from the average fried rice. But this ain't the average fried rice. All the curries are also fantastic, especially the beef rendang, which come with rice included. The service is prompt and being a two level venue, it can cater for the lunch and dinner crowd with ease. The only drawback is that the place is strictly cash only, which is unusual for a restaurant of this size. Nonetheless, this remains one of my favourite Thai places in the city.

The most accurate point in most reviews is BYO and CASH ONLY but I generally stock up on notes when going out with friends anyway so really, it's no issue. The food was very tasty and served fast. The menu suggests the level of heat is mild unless otherwise stated but I have a reasonable chilli threshold and I'd say it would be hot for some. We ordered the morning glory crispy pork belly, sweet pumpkin curry and chicken and basil stir fry which all came out within moments of each other (not staggered) so no one was waiting for their meal although we shared them anyway. We did have two hiccups that were more funny than anything else. Firstly was a language barrier issue, with us wanting two fish cake and one money bag entree. Instead we received two fish cake patties and one money bag on the one plate. We thought it might happen though. Secondly, although I'd be more than happy to pour my own wine, the waitress was pouring and pouring to no avail until it was pointed out that the lid was still on. We all had a laugh. The good food, dark but inviting lighting and funny mistakes made for an enjoyable dinner.
