The crew at Dive World San Antonio-both West Avenue and Thousand Oaks-are great folks to deal with!…read more I started my adventure with DiveWorld back in 2012 to get my basic open water certification. I enjoyed the classes and instructors so much that I just kept adding more! They have a background in both recreational and commercial diving so they speak all the disciplines and have the experienced staff to give you the confidence that you are truly learning what you need to. I've bought lots of gear through DiveWorld and have had my gear serviced there-and it's always my first stop when I "need" something! If you need diving support or training in the San Antonio area-don't hesitate to drop in one of their locations! Thanks to the skills I learned at DWSA, I've been able to travel to some amazing places and see some of the most impressive sea life on the planet...

I came in to look at a used motorcycle and while I appreciate the staff taking the time to let me…read moreview and test ride the bike, the overall presentation and experience fell far short of what you'd expect when spending that kind of money. The motorcycle had obvious cosmetic drop damage (scuffed clutch cover, exhaust, and bar end), which I understand can happen on used inventory and I was told about before hand because I noticed a scuff on the clutch cover so I asked the shop owner about it. What concerned me was the complete lack of basic preparation and presentation: the bike was dusty/dirty, and both the rear brake reservoir and coolant were sitting right on the low line. If a shop asks for top-dollar pricing, basic fluid top-offs and wiping down the machine should be the bare minimum standard before putting it on the floor. When I asked about coverage or warranty options for peace of mind regarding the drop history, I was told they don't offer extended warranties because "it's a used bike and you never know when an engine might blow," beyond a basic 30-day dealer guarantee. Expecting a buyer to take on 100% of the long-term risk on a tipped-over machine without even properly prepping or topping off the fluids doesn't build confidence in their intake or inspection process. I chose to walk away and hold onto my money. I recommend future buyers thoroughly inspect any pre-owned inventory here before making a deal.

Although I grew up in the area, I had never had the chance to experience true Whitewater Rafting, here or anywhere, so this was an exciting challenge for me... Back in May 2012, I fell and hit my head... and my life changed forever. I struggle with the effects of a Complex Traumatic Brain Injury. C-TBI is a little bit different as it wasn't just one big hit that caused damage... it's been a bunch of accumulative hits over a lifetime. If it wasn't for the NFL talking about concussion and CTE, no one would believe me. Now one of the my life's purposes is to make others aware of the seriousness of head injuries, no matter how minuet that might seem at the moment... *NOTE* every single little hit adds up! With all this said, I stopped in to Austin Canoe & Kayak to pick up a helmet to wear on my future rafting trips... as well as any other extreme sports that might appeal to me in the future. Ha! Who am I kidding, I probably need to wear it daily around house as another hit to my head just might leave me in a veg state or kill me... that's just the reality of my life. Hey, Life is Short so gotta live it the best as I can! Austin Canoe & Kayak is located off IH 10 off De Zavala a few blocks in a strip shopping area in NW SA. "Fly Shop" is what the sign read! My car, knowing me, turned right in to the small parking lot…read more I'm in love again; my heart spoke, another fantastic fly fishing shop! I had come down this way to a Trout Unlimited class that was fantastic. Fly Shop is in the little city of Canyon Lake, Texas north by north east of downtown San Antonio Texas. And the Fly Shop is just minutes from the down stream side of the dam of Canyon Lake. The water flows from the bottom side of the dam, so the next ten to twelve miles the water is cold enough to keep trout alive. A good temperature for the water is around fifty to fifty five degrees at the highest for the trout to stay alive. The Texas Parks and wildlife department and Trout Unlimited stock this part of the Guadalupe River every winter. The Guadalupe River is listed as one of the top 100 trout streams in America. It is also the southern most trout streams in the US. The bag limit is one trout over 18" a day and must be caught on an artificial lure. The average Guadalupe trout will be from 12' to 14" range. Trout over 20" are not uncommon; trout over 5 to 8 pounds have been caught over the years. Now there is some data just to wet your whistle. Are you in the mood to catch some trout now? If so let's head back to the Fly Shop. Back to the "Fly Shop," now we know it's at a great location, but peek inside and you will think you've going to fly fishing heaven. They have a large amount of great gear here. Great brands and high quality items can be found right inside. The rods are top of the line, great fly lines, and flies of great details! Fly fishing clothes and waders are nice as well as affordable here. Spend a little time with the staff and they can help you get fitted right up. The day I went in sweet Kayla was in the shop. She was manning the place at the time while the owners and guides were out guiding some clients. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful! She was able to tell me in detail what flies, types, sizes and colors I should go with at that time. (It is very helpful if you're new to an area.) She told me what size tippet and leader to go with as well. We chatted a little about the river conditions, then about the store. She then offered me a small draft beer that the owner had on tap in the store. Name of the beer was "Trout Slayer" wheat ale from Missoula Montana, a very tasty beer! Thank you dear owner for having brought that in to the store and thank you sweet Kayla! What great customer service! Customer service 5 Knowledgeable staff 5 Gear quality and affordability 5 Location 5 Going beyond the call of duty 5 Oh hell yes I will be back! See you soon "Fly Shop!"
