Looking for a cute, classy Turkish restaurant in the heart of Virginia Highlands. This is your…read morespot! I went for happy hour which I highly recommend. It's from 3-6pm Monday through Thursday (I believe). They have $6-8 cocktails and a variety of food in the $5-10 range. The food was all fantastic, as was our waiter. He constantly checked on us, kept the complimentary bread supplied, and gave great recs for both food and cocktails. I love a waiter who explains the menu so you know what you're getting into beforehand. As we were leaving, it was torrentially down-pouring and the host was so kind to let me borrow his umbrella to get to my car. It's rare to find this level of hospitality these days and it made my already great experience here even better.

Spots I would rather recommend for a nice night out are Delbar, Rumi's, and Yalda. My friends and I tried the Muhammara Dip, the Feta Cheese Rolls (reminiscent of spanakopita but no spinach and in roll form), the Truva Dumplings, and the Iskender Kebab. The Iskender Kebab and the Muhammara were the best of the bunch, but overall I think I was expecting more punch from the spices and greater nuance in the flavors of each dish. The thing I honestly enjoyed most was the complimentary bread and sun-dried tomato dip, which has gotten a number of shoutouts of Yelp already. I would come back to this spot to get a handful of appetizers, eat that bread, and hang out for a few hours. It does seem like the restaurant needs more staffing. Everyone we saw was very kind, but it took a long time to get a server's attention whenever we needed something.

Last week I was in Atlanta for work and had a chance to grab dinner with a close friend. She…read moresuggested we go to Rumi's because of how good their food was and had told me about how they just renovated the new Sandy Springs location. Let me just tell you, that this recommendation did NOT disappoint. The moment I dipped my pita into the lamb hummus I already knew this was about to be one of my favorite meals and boy was I correct. From the lamb hummus, to the grilled veggies, the chicken kebob to the rack of lambs- everything was truly delectable!!!! Ofc we couldn't skip on dessert. We got the burnt honey pistachio cake that was both of our favs and the mahlab s'mores sundae that was also incredibly good. Our service was really great w/ our server giving us incredible recommendations. And the ambiance was so chic. The bar was truly stunninggggg!!! If you're in the Atlanta area and have a chance to check this place out, absolutely do not sleep on it!!!

Our salad, vegetables, herbs, and wine were five stars, but the meats were all cold. We had to send all meats back three times. This is unacceptable in any restaurant. The manager did not apologize or even try to do anything. She failed. Our server/Asser was/is five stars. Great service, courtesy, and very professional. The review deserves to be one star, but due to the facility, server, and food is five stars, we had to rate it higher. The cooking team and manager failed miserably. So overall it's three stars max, until they can get their act together. Hoping to see improvement as we really like this restaurant and food... Sincerely

I usually hesitate to leave 5 stars but they deserve it…read more The food was exemplary, the service was great and the environment/ atmosphere was beautiful. I came in before they closed but they still took wonderful care of me. They claim the chicken is hand slaughtered but I am not sure 100% as I haven't verified their vendor yet. The spices in the rice were overpowering and my partner didn't enjoy it as much. The potatoes were extra crunchy and a bit burnt... unsure if it was overdone or on purpose. It smelled like was it cooked in coconut oil. I would say 7 out of 10 overall. The lamb neck was recommended by the waiter. It was really good, slow cooked and the meat was tender. The sauce was unremarkable. The waiter gave us a house made spicy sauce and made this dish significantly better. I would say 9/10 overall. The hummus with the pickled mushroom was amazing. It was topped off with truffle oil and I just couldn't keep my hands off of it. I would say 10/10. I just want to point out the bill had a notice that says "tips are based on check prices after taxes" was confusing and unsure why would company charge tips on top of taxes. Our waiter was amazing so we didn't mind paying the extra but it really made us wonder about the company policy.

Kabuli pillow (possibly wrong spelling) was the highlight, and best in town. In fact, it was so well prepared that we came back specifically from it. They claim to be the first and best afghani restaurant in town - and honestly this checks out. They have great starters/sharables too, best for me is always the betinjan (eggplant). I like the Mantu as well, but tbh, had much better mantu elsewhere. The highlight is the pillow. Just go there! Ambiance wise - very family friendly. Simple and quite interior, nothing fancy, great for families or parties who don't want much noise and just want to eat and enjoy a conversation. Great service as always.

The prices seemed fairly reasonable. Customer service was friendly and attentive. I opted to order the chicken kebab plate, and it was quite tasty. The portions were a bit smaller than expected, and the rice was slightly bland on flavor, but I enjoyed the chicken kebab and the garlic yogurt sauce. The cucumber salad was refreshing, and was a nice addition. The green chutney sauce was alright, but a little watery in texture. We had to eat quickly due to scheduling constraints, but they were quick with providing takeout boxes, and sauce cups to take home with our leftovers. Overall, a solid place to get some great Afghan food.
