My 120 lb Saint Bernard "Simon" had not had any training at all. He pulled on his lead so hard that I would have to sit down to hold onto him! After a broken fibula in attempting to walk him I knew we needed help. Simon attended a 4 week board and train with Christie Miller, owner/trainer of K9 Mastery and we got back a totally different dog! I could walk him anywhere with perfect obedience! We attended a weekly Intermediate class with amazing results after his Board and train. If it wasn't for my after Covid decline of health I would still be attending. Witnessed miracles with other dogs in training also. My appreciation for the blessings received from excellent training of our dogs is epitomized at K9 Mastery with Christie Miller.

With Hurricane Harvey bearing down on us, we grabbed our kitten and young dog, both recent shelter rescues, and evacuated to Fayetteville for 2 weeks. During this time, our female visla mix, Kalani, started to really terrorize our kitten, exhibit anxious behaviors such as scratching and using the restroom in the home, barking, etc. By Divine Intervention(!), I found K9 Mastery and was able to board Kalani for a 4 week training and boarding program with Christie since our home was destroyed and we needed to find new living accommodations. It is hard to describe our joy when we showed up at her "graduation" and we were trained on how to maintain and continue her training at home. Not only is she the best behaved dog we've ever had, but is a joy to have in a roomful of people since she is no longer jumping up on people. She runs to us when we call her name and while she still loves to harass the kitten, we are able to break her focus in the middle of play and redirect. I can't thank Christie enough for training Kalani while keeping her clever, sweet personality. We are now renting a home with another family and there are 3 cats and 2 dogs - happy to say our dog is the best pet of all. Team Christie- we are a fan!!!!

I'm so glad I found Christie Miller and K9 Mastery! Aftet a tradegy in my life, I was at a point where my dogs were fighting each other and life was just unhappy at my home. I started with Christie in November of 2014 and I have successfully completed basic with my 1st dog, Pearl. Pearl's entire attitude has changed. She is happy and playful now. Before she was always on guard and depressed. She and I have developed a strong bond through training and our lives are much more balanced. I have started with my 2nd dog, Nova. She is a hard-headed bulldog, but Christie isn't giving up on her. I will be using K9 Mastery for training my other dogs as well. I am confident I will be able to have a complete, happy family again! I have also used the boarding services here. The bungalows are a perfect solution for my bulldogs that can't handle the heat. Even though my the two dogs I boarded are difficult, one doesn't like people and the other is protective of her space, Christie handled them great. She is the first boarding facility that didn't tell me I couldn't bring them back. She is wonderful with her ability with animals. Definitely a gifted person.

My fiancé and I took our dogs to K9 for training and had relatively good results. However, after leaving my fiance's dog with them for boarding over thanksgiving I have nothing but regret and anger. Our 5 year old Pittie mix has been boarded at nicer kennels where the dogs are allowed more outdoor and social time. However k9 was cheaper and we thought we were familiar enough with the trainers to be comfortable. When we picked up Jasmine she was at least 5 lbs lighter (noticeably skinnier), was shedding like crazy, and had wounds all of her mouth, and back legs. She also had two giant gaping wounds on her front paws, that (due to the amount of puss, blood, and induration) were by no means brand new. We noticed these things as soon as we saw her, but the boarders/ trainers acted as though they had no idea, and then tried to play it off as though they were self inflicted lick spots. I have seen lick spots before and these were deep wounds, and look severely infected. I have no idea how this happened to our dog, like I said before she does great with other dogs, and had been ok after boarding before. The boarders only cared about payment and did not even care hat our dogs paws and mouth were bleeding. We just wanted to get our baby out of there! They were so unprofessional and rude!!! I would never go back to these people or recommend them to anyone. They obviously were not checking on our baby or attempting to feed her (she is the most food motivated dog I've ever seen, and has never avoided any food in front of her!) unless you want to go spend a lot of money on emergency vet bills do not ever take yours dogs here!!! PS I will post pictures of the wounds too!

Words cannot express how much I LOVE K9 Mastery! Christie, the Owner and Trainer at K9 Mastery, has completely changed my life and I would never, ever recommend any other dog trainer. I brought my dog, Beau to K9 Mastery for fear aggression issues. When I adopted him in May 2011, he was so scared of people that no one, besides me, could get within 10 feet of him without him barking and growling at them. I was terrified that he would one day bite someone and have to be put down. I had previously taken him to a trainer that only used treats for positive reinforcement, which did absolutely NOTHING for him except make him puke the whole time (his sensitive tummy cannot handle excessive amounts of treats). Christie specializes in working with severe aggression issues. She taught me that truly balanced training methods require corrections for unwanted behavior, in addition to positive reinforcement in the form of verbal praise and petting. I immediately saw a drastic change in Beau in the very first training class. In September 2013, Beau became the 8th dog to finish all three levels of obedience training (Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced). He is now a completely different dog. Beau and I have an incredible bond, and his confidence has increased dramatically. I can take him with me anywhere and everywhere and not have to worry about strangers approaching us. In fact, Beau now welcomes petting from strangers (especially kids)--in May 2014, Beau became a certified Therapy Dog through Therapy Dogs International. I just adopted my 2nd dog, Molly, in July, and we are already almost finished with Basic Obedience. Even though Molly doesn't have any aggression issues, I will definitely be taking her through all the way through Advanced Obedience training, as well. There is nothing like having the peace of mind that your dog will listen to your commands in any and every circumstance without any equipment (leashes, collars, etc.) needed. Training with K9 Mastery has been worth every penny (and so much more) to us, and I would highly recommend it to all dog owners in the Austin area and beyond! Furthermore, there is no other facility that I would EVER board my dogs at besides K9 Mastery. It is ALWAYS worth extra 2 hour drive from Georgetown to Bastrop and back to drop the dogs off for boarding, even though there are tons of other boarding facilities that are much closer to where I live. When I go out of town, I know that Christie and Jessica will take care of Beau and Molly like they are their own dogs, and they even accommodate their special dietary needs.

Jubilee was cute, gray cuddly Weimaraner pup when i got her. I have no delusions that her "issues" were not my fault. At three years old she was a liability. She was embarrassing to take into public or on walks. She had become aggressive/reactive/whatever you want to call it and it seemed to happen overnight. I could not walk her in the neighborhood without her lunging and barking at passing dogs. She did not like small children. Forget taking her to a restaurant patio or bar. She was an equal opportunity hater. She used to go everywhere with me. I took her to work everyday, shopping, eating with friends, bars and the dog park. If you want to read my original post you can link to it here - http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=TN4QqROQJCEaCG9fWrFHvg It will be the second review after one for Training By Tara. I could not link it directly for some reason. Jubilee is and was my world and i did not give up on her. I spent sooo much $$ in other training that was not effective for her issues. All her other training was treat based. She may have learned a trick or two, but that is not we needed. I wanted to be confident i could take her into public. I did not get her to be a back yard dog. I was at rock bottom just after i finished a Reactive Dog Class with another trainer. I found K-9 Mastery online and the reviews of Sammy on K-9 Mastery's website gave me hope. Sammie seemed way worse then Jubilee and she got better!! The first class my Jubilee was walking on a leash past other dogs!! WHAT? I was flabbergasted. We decided that we needed to go all the way - BASIC, INTERMEDIATE, and ADVANCED. The behavioral issues were nipped in the bud by intermediate, but I enjoyed the connection with Jubilee that i got out of training. Things that make this trainer different - 1. She does not train with treats. That means your dog learns to listen to you and respect you and you are not trying to bribe them with treats. All our old trainers had me training her with treats. If that works for you- more power to you, but my dog was way to smart for that. I feel confident if my dog is about to run into the street and I call her that she will come. That is money well spent. 2. Your dog will be trained in real world situations. That means that other dogs will be all around you while training. They will be good training distractions and your dog will have to get used being around other dogs. Does that sound normal to you? Then you have not been other trainers who train reactive dogs... She could not even get within feet of other dogs in her previous training. How could she learn? 3. You will be trained more then your dog. Ok, maybe not. I guess it depends on your situation, but you will get training on what your doing wrong. If you think your dog is the only one contributing to the problem... think again. 3. Christy truly cares about dogs. I have not meet another person who will tell you how it is and whip you into shape for the sake of your dog. If you need help with behavioral issues, then I cannot recommend Christy enough. If you just need obedience, then I cannot recommend Christy enough. Jubilee the attacker now goes shopping, to work every day, out to eat with us, and walks past other dogs like a pro. I have confidence in myself and Jubilee. My dog lives a happier, healthier life because of K-9 Mastery. I will bring my next dog as a pup to her class to get a head start. Thank you K-9 Mastery for changing our lives for the better!! I have my best bud back and she has you to thank for her active lifestyle. read more

I can't say enough about the good that K9 Mastery does for people and their dogs. All the training in the world isn't going to help your dog do anything unless you learn how to train them the right way, and that is exactly what the staff at K9 Mastery is committed to providing for their clients. They also have a top notch boarding facility if you need to board your dog. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets! read more

if you have an aggressive or hard to handle dog, there really is no alternative to K9 Mastery. I was referred to Christie through a friend after my very dog aggressive Akita was kicked out of basic obedience class at Triple Crown. They told me he could not be around the other dogs due to his aggressive nature. Not only were the other students afraid of him but so was the instructor. He was very aggressive towards other dogs and would redirect that aggression toward me or anyone nearby. Frankly I thought there was no hope at that point. After my initial phone consultation with Christie I was very excited. Christie said that she never refuses any dog. Christie was able to get him under control in a very short time. Keep in mind that Kobe was a 70 lb puppy when he was kicked out of triple crown. He was a 120lb adult by the time we came to K9 Mastery! In the first 3 weeks we made remarkable progress. Kobe graduated from basic obedience a few weeks later and we are working on intermediate currently. My female Akita, Keiko had graduated from Triple Crown, but after seeing how well Kobe behaved, I put her through basic at K9 Mastery as well. I never would have dreamed that it was possible to have the level of control I have over my dogs now. Everyone we meet remarks at how well behaved both dogs are. In addition to training, I will only board my dogs with K9 Mastery. Finally, I can go out of town and not have to worry about them. I know they get first class care at K9 Mastery! read more

K9 Mastery is the only reason we were able to keep our beloved second rescue- Nora! Shortly after adopting her she and our first dog got into two big fights. We decided to go ahead and put her in the boarding school of Christie( the owner of K9 Mastery) for a month, and it was worth every dollar. After that we continued working with her and both our dogs. Nora improved so much and for less than 2 months we were able to regain our sense of trust and peace at home. Whoever has met our dogs is amazed by their obedience. Christie taught us very valuable information on dog handling and how our behavior directly affects theirs. Now we are stronger pack leaders and our dogs respect, love and trust us. Even tho the style she uses to train dogs (prone, choke collars) may seem a little intimidating at the beginning I would definitely prefer to use it, instead to have to break another vicious fight and watching my dogs trying to kill each other. Thank you, Christie for your devotion and professionalism. Thank you for not giving up on Nora, when I almost reached that point and building back a healthy relationship for my dogs. Absolute one of the best if not the best trainer I've ever seen!! read more

I have had an awesome experience with Christie. She is a wonderful trainer and I have seen what she has accomplished with other dogs as well. Her new facility is beautiful. It is like a doggy paradise if you need to board your dog. They get lots of attention and supervision. I would recommend K9 Mastery for training and boarding. Lori read more

We sent our first dog to board and train at Christie's 4 years ago, and she literally saved our dog's (a rescued pit bull) life with the behavior training she instilled. We just picked up our second dog (another pit bull rescue) from a month at board and train, and once again, Christie has proved what a brilliant trainer she is. Ruth (our second dog) is now an expert at heel walking, sits and down stays, and recalls. She is infinitely better at walking on leash, and her overall demeanor is much calmer and more confident. My husband and I appreciated how much time Christie spent with us when we went to pick up Ruth, making sure we understood the exercises and techniques to work with Ruth at home. Christie clearly cares a tremendous amount about all the dogs she trains, and she is invested in their continued success--always happy to answer any questions we may have via email. We drive an hour and a half one way to get to Christie's ranch every time we go. It is totally worth the drive and every penny of the investment in our precious fur babies. Thanks as always, Christie! read more

I know I read 1000 reviews before I decided to send my dog Webster so I'll share my experience. My husband and I decided to send Webster to participate in Christie's board and train program after a fight at the dog park led to serious behavioral and aggression issues. (To be fair, he had plenty of behavioral problems before that, the aggression is just what finally sent us over the edge and made us realize how much help we really needed). We've had him for a little over a week now, and the progress we've seen in him is amazing! He can sit and stay and walk like a nice, well-trained dog. I will tell you this training is NOT for someone that wants to be lazy. The training is simple enough to follow (corrections if he does something wrong, praise when he does what I'm asking him to), but you have to be willing to set aside time to do training and have to really pay attention every time he's out of the house. Even though it was costly I can't tell you enough how "worth it" it has been to spend the money on this training. We're looking forward to more training in the future and continuing to improve on this great foundation Christie gave us to work with. I'm a more confident dog owner knowing how to correct undesirable behaviors and couldn't be more satisfied with the progress we've seen in our best friend. read more

K9 Mastery saved my life. In late 2012 I had reached rock bottom because of my dog's aggression issues. Sweetie (I did not name her!) was very dog aggressive and had a tendency to "resource guard". She would even attack my other dog (Misty). I was living in fear in my own house. Even worse, I was scheduled to deploy and had no idea what I was going to do with Sweetie during the deployment. I didn't feel safe leaving her with anyone because of her dog aggression. In desperation I turned to Google, and Thanks Be to God I found Christie. Over the next several months Christie helped me progress both of my dogs through Basic Obedience and partway through Intermediate before I had to deploy. We also worked on Sweetie's aggression issues. Thanks to Christie, I was able to leave a very well-behaved Misty with my sister for 16 months. Misty heeled so nicely that my sister was able to take her on lots of walks and runs...all while pregnant with her second child and juggling her toddler in a stroller. I know for a fact that Misty's excellent behavior really helped my sister (who had never owned a dog) manage her dog sitting responsibilities while I was halfway around the world. During the deployment Sweetie went to Board and Train with K9 Mastery. I loved seeing all the updates and videos on Facebook of Sweetie's progress. Sweetie actually won some obedience titles! I know she was well-loved and cared for while I was away. Recently I adopted a third rescue, Oreo. Oreo was a ten week old puppy when I picked her up. I was so used to Misty and Sweetie's good behavior that I didn't even realize how well behaved they were until I had the puppy. All of a sudden I had this little creature in the house that didn't listen to anything I said, didn't come when called, didn't know how to walk on a leash...and it drove me insane! I don't know how people do that. I certainly will never have a dog like that again, not as long as I can train them the K9 Mastery way! Oreo is now partway through Intermediate training and I am so grateful. Wherever we go I always get compliments about how well-behaved my dogs are....and we definitely have K9 Mastery to thank. 90% of dog training is training the handler and Christie gets that. She won't just train your dog, she'll show you how to handle your dog. Every one of my dogs has responded to training differently and Christie has been able to show me how to tweak my handling to suit the dog's personalities. It's hard work for the handler, but don't give up! Dogs do not turn into perfect angels without hard work on their human's part! Once you are introduced to Christie's training methods you will absolutely NEVER train a dog any other way ever again for the rest of your life. Simply put, it works. Your dog doesn't have to be difficult to benefit from her training methods. If your dog has any issues that make them more difficult to handle (aggression, fear, etc.) you DEFINITELY need Christie's help. Even if your dog is normal, you WANT Christie's help. Take your dog to Christie's training classes. You will not regret it. Oh, and did I mention I drive 8 hours ROUNDTRIP to go to Christie's training classes? Yeah, I live in Abilene. It's that worth it. read more

Outstanding!!! We took our chocolate lab to K9 Mastery and she came back a new dog. We are so happy with how well she came home knowing her commands and doing them to perfection. Christie the owner is amazing at what she does. If you are thinking about getting your dog trained this is the place. You won't be sorry you took them there. read more

Christie was kind enough to keep a rescue dog I helped when he had literally nowhere else to go but the shelter. After being on a chain all of his life he is now staying with her until we can find him just the right home. When nobody else offered, she was there. I am so grateful for that! read more

This training makes the most sense out of any we have ever done for our dog, Blue. This is the only thing that has helped him get better. He is a much happier dog now because he knows that my husband and I are in control and now he doesn't have to be. He can just be a carefree dog again. I would recommend this to everyone who has a dog with behavior issues and/or aggression issues (like our Blue did) - it has done wonders for our baby! Christie is hands down the best trainer we have ever worked with. She knows dog psyche and understands what they want and need. She truly is a miracle worker! She works the gamete of behavioral issues, but if your dog has aggression issues - for sure this is the woman you need to see. Christie truly cares about dogs. She risks her own safety taking on some of the most aggressive dogs that many other trainers have instructed their owners to put down. If you follow her advice and do the homework, your dog WILL get better. read more

After taking Mokey to another training facility for obedience training (two rounds of 8-week sessions), he still was a very overactive chocolate lab puppy that wouldn't listen to anybody. Upon our vet's recommendation, we chose to take him to Christie at K9 Mastery. After just one class with her, he was walking on a lead without pulling. He has now gone through basic and intermediate training with her, and he is the best trained dog we've ever had. I can take him anywhere, and I know that he'll be by my side and do what I tell him to, when I tell him to. It has also greatly improved our overall relationship with Mokey. He is a very happy puppy that likes to know what is expected of him. I've seen Christie do amazing things with lots of dogs. If you would like to have a well-trained dog, you should definitely seek training with K9 Mastery. I recommend her very highly!! read more

My service dog, Lucy, was trained by Christie and her staff. When I went to pick her up I was able, with minimal instruction, able to handle her. With further instruction from Christie. She was patient and kind when I made a mistake. I was also able to see the place where the dogs were kept. It was very clean and neat. Lucy went home with me. She went every where with me and I never had a problem with her in public. Unfortunately Lucy was killed by a careless driver who swerved out of his lane and hit her at the edge of our driveway. Knowing that despite my grief I needed another dog. My husband and I called Christie. She found a dog for me despite my impossible wants. She is now training "Freedom" for me. read more

K9 Mastery saved our lives! Christie is a wonderful, knowlegable trainer who has helped us transform a dog known as "unadoptable" to a loving member of our family. After a very expensive first attempt with another dog training company, we were still left with a dog that did not listen, was aggressive and fearful and we did not know what to do. I found K9 Mastery by searching online and after watching some videos of their "graduates" (and reading all the great reviews), we knew this would be our last shot. She has trained both our dog, as well as us!, and within a very short period of time, we noticed a huge difference in our dog's behavior!! We also board with K9 Mastery when we go out of town, feeling Stanley is in good hands (and he loves it there!!)...would recommend to anyone, whether you just want your dog to have good manners, or to resolve issues. Do yourself and your furry baby a favor!! read more

How can I begin to describe how much of an "ah-hah" moment Christie brought into my life after working with animals in the veterinary field for over a decade?! I am also heavily involved with animal rescue and rehabilitation, so I am around dogs all the time and am used to encountering aggressive dogs. I was involved in rescuing a puppy that was exhibiting signs of aggression towards my own pets (dogs and cats) and I was having a really hard time dealing with her-as it seemed her aggression would come out of nowhere! With me being a softie, with her being a puppy, and with the safety of my own animals in jeopardy- I knew I needed help. I am so glad that I reached out to Christie at K9 Mastery, as her training methods and techniques were life-changing for both me and the dogs who have benefited from being trained this way. I am a believer now that training does work! Even in cases of aggression and extreme neurotic behavior-if it is a behavioral issue and not medical of course. I went into it knowing the dog needed help but that ultimately it was ME that would become the most changed/trained! I was being far too soft on her and letting her get away with things because she came from a bad situation and was a puppy, when in fact-I was not helping her by treating her that way! She is a dog with a work drive and a desire to know where she fit in to my household and life. I was allowing her to be too far at the top, anthropomorphically crippling her, and setting both of us for failure. I had to change my way of being and thinking in regards to this dog (and other dogs who I have taken to Christie since-but that is another story) and become the leader that they needed me to be. I had to get past MY issues and barriers to being an effective leader and trainer, and her teaching has positively impacted my life on a daily basis. That is no small feat and I thank her everyday for what she has shown me and because of this-dogs lives have been saved. If you have a dog that is running and/or ruining your life in some way- help is out there, and her name is Christie. K9 mastery will ultimately make YOU a better you and as a result, your dog a better dog. read more

I am unable to express in words enough what a life changing experience it has been for us to have been able to find Christie and K9 Mastery. Our Rott was just a few months old with severe aggression issues to the point that the vet was recommending to us to find our pup another home without children. To be fair to him he never was aggressive to children yet, but overall seemed extremely hard headed (which we learned later extremely smart and trying to establish himself in a management position) and we were all afraid what's going to happen when he gets a lot, a lot bigger. We had a rescue Rott before who was an amazing dog, giant loving bear and literally human short of speaking. So getting a cute small pup with such a surprise was very difficult on our whole family. We wanted to do whatever it takes to get our pup trained. Got him private trainer lessons, paid a huge amount of money for board and train, repeatedly, and when he came back he almost was even worse than before we sent him there. The place we took him had great reviews, people were very nice, but all training was treats based, so as soon as treats ran out, all the tricks did too. We got a recommendation for a dog behaviorist, which upon my checking was even more so expensive and no one guaranteed any results. Finding Christie was such an unbelievable luck for us. The moment we called, we heard it is nothing out of ordinary, the dog just needs structure and work in training, let me take him and see. That same day Christie took him in initially for a month and then we added some time due to the holidays. When I came to pick him up I literally thought this was not my dog:) The change was insane and unbelievable for 'before' and 'after'... I felt like my old late pup came back, same sweet soul and aggression gone... Not to mention all the skills he got in training which we at that point did not even care that much about as long as the pup was not aggressive. It is unbelievable to me to this day how much the right training can do, how important it is to find The Trainer. And how insanely much of work this actually is! I started group weekly training classes after that to keep the work up and miserably failed on my part between crazy work, kids, work travel, I did not get to train him between the sessions much, so we did not progress, but I still had my sweet pup and zero aggression. A lengthy work trip was coming up, so we agreed with Christie our pup will do another round of board and train. After this one not surprisingly he came back with a ton more advanced training habits, so at this point we are in pure heaven. The joy he brings to our family, the kids all over him, noooow he behaves at all times like a sweet amazing well behaved lap dog. He is so well socialized with other animals and people, just a giant ball of sweetness, center of kids attention at all playgrounds. Even people who generally are afraid of dogs approached us and thanked us for allowing them and their kids to hug, roll around and play with our dog while telling us that generally they stay away from dogs, but notices how unbelievably sweet ours is. I will never have enough words to thank Christie. We want to get our pup a companion some time down the road and my biggest fear is that Christie will ever decide to move:) we will have to follow her wherever she goes. She has an amazing gift at what she does as well as at picking her crew. My dog is in LOVE with all of them, he literally jumps out of his skin any time he sees her and honestly so do we. And again, to folks, who decide to go into training, it is extremely important to listen and follow everything Christie tells you and to put in the very, very hard work on your part, in our case we cheated and put just about all of the grunt on her:) Christie is our hero, because of her we have an amazing family member, she brought out in him who he really was. read more

Christie does absolutely amazing work, which is why we drove 2 hours to have her board & train our 2 yr old German Shepherd. We were running out of hope just when we came across K9 Mastery during an online hunt. She stuck out from the other standard 2-week board & train programs all over and decided to give her a shot. While it was hard having him gone for an entire month... boy, was it worth it! We used to get pulled all over when we had him on a leash and coming across other dogs and/or people was a nightmare. His aggression towards other dogs and people that he didn't know was our biggest issue and we were SO SHOCKED to see his progress when we picked him up after a month with her. She has done the impossible (or so we thought) and it was worth every penny. His sits, downs, and stays are even better than before and now he can even heel. And oh how thankful we are to not have tired and red hands after having him on the leash. I have already recommended K9 Mastery to several people who have asked us how our dog is so well trained and behaved. read more

I came to Christie with a dog I adopted from the pound that had dog aggression issues. We couldn't even be out in the neighborhood without her pulling the leash and going completely crazy when another dog was even in her sight. We went through beginners training and my dog has made AMAZING improvements. Even after the first day of class I knew how to control my dog around other animals and she was even walking on a loose leash right next to me. She has even gotten better in the house and is great around guests. Everything that is promised on her site she fulfills in training. Definitely going back to Christie to complete intermediate and advanced training! read more

Have boarded multiple dogs here multiple times. Great experience every time. Our dogs tend to be high maintenance; they need meds, special cleaning, have had recent surgeries, new foster dogs with unknown behaviors, etc. None of that has ever been a problem and every time I check in I get a fast, friendly response. Very nice to know that someone is there 24/7 unlike other boarding facilities. Will definitely use again. read more

K9 Mastery saved my Bosco's life. I am forever grateful. If you think your dog is a lost cause and will never behave, contact K9 Mastery, follow instructions, and prepare to be amazed. My Bosco's behavior was terrible & he was under death threats from the neighbors for jumping the fence and being destructive. A famous other Austin trainer told me he was untrainable and a threat to my safety. Enter K9 Mastery. It's been a few years already since K9 Mastery saved his life and turned him into an obedient pet and a total joy. We still work his training every day and he knows when he is working. Our years together are joyful and I am no longer getting chiropractic adjustments because he no longer pulls on the leash, much less attack other dogs when we walk. K9 Mastery earned every one of the 5 stars and I would give them 10 if I could. Don't mess around, don't procrastinate. Call K9 Mastery and start enjoying time with your obedient dog. read more

I am a veteran animal rescue volunteer who would like to take this opportunity to praise a great company - K9 Mastery - and its dedicated owner, Christy Miller. Over the past year, I have watched her invest her heart, time and money to grow her pet care company AND manage one of the most difficult rescue cases I've seen. His name is Jett. Jett came out of East Dallas, as a stray, turned over to DAS - as per rescue protocol. We knew he was in danger, as a deaf, white Bully. (Why "Bully" instead of the informal, albeit derogatory term "Pit Bull"? There is not a single Canine DNA test that can clearly define a "mixed breed's" mix. So rescue is utilizing a more general term - 'Bully' - because THESE mixed breed dogs deserve their noble lineage.) While at DAS, Jett contracted some kind of bladder/kidney infection that turned him into a bleeding mess for many weeks. That did not stop Christy - even through expensive medical bills and an ongoing bloody mess, she kept him safe, got him healed. And is striving to find him a proper forever home, with a forever family that can manage Jett's long-term health care needs. Jett is in the best possible place, I know that in my heart. He is safe and loved. Christy Miller cares. Christy is dedicated to the health and well-being of all the dogs in her care. She is always just a phone call away, at all times, 24/7/365. She is doing everything necessary to help Jett. Everything. THAT is a rare volunteer, a VERY rare business owner - who puts the welfare of a dog over the bottom line. Christy and her company - K9 Mastery - is a hands-down, go-to boarding facility for training and boarding. Without question. Those of us involved in animal rescue know that. As do her many loyal and satisfied clients. I applaud Christy for her dedication to the animals most of us call family. read more

Words cannot express how much I LOVE K9 Mastery! Christie, the Owner and Trainer at K9 Mastery, has completely changed my life and I would never, ever recommend any other dog trainer.
History
Established in 2009.
K9 Mastery is founded on the premise that dog ownership should be fun, challenging, and rewarding. This company was founded in 2009 when Christie made it her mission to help other people realize the joy of having well trained dogs that are trained in methods capable of producing dogs reliable in real world situations without even a collar. She knows that there are other people out there in the situation she was once in, desperate and looking for an answer, and believes that no one should have to ever consider rehoming or euthanizing a dog because of behavior or training problems. She also knows there are many people out there that have spent countless hours and exorbitant amounts of money on training that has failed them and others that simply don't know where to start. And so K9 Mastery was born.
Meet the Business Owner: Christie M.
Born and raised in TX, Christie made Austin her permanent home after attending and graduating from the University of Texas at Austin. Christie has always had a desire to work with animals and, in particular, dogs. Around December 2007, the problems with their own dogs escalated to such an extreme that not only were there several costly visits to the emergency vet for emergency surgeries, but both she and her husband were injured separating the fights and were told that they would need to keep their dogs separated as they would never be able to be in proximity of each other without fighting. Devastated and thinking there was no solution other than rehoming one or more of their dogs, Christie made one last desperate attempt to find something that would work and give her a stable pack of dogs. Today, Christie still has the dogs she had when her search began and without aggression issues. They are truly the joy they were meant to be as well as fun, obedient, and reliable.

I contacted Christie from K9 Mastery last month, desperate for help with my aggressive adopted dog, Dexter. Dexter has always been a very anxious dog, but within the last year his aversion to other dogs had turned into him screaming, lunging, and trying get attack any dog within his line of sight. My life and his had become very stressful and miserable. I didn't know how to help him and I had not had any luck with treat training; When Dexter focused in on another dog, not even waiving a steak in front of his face would have been enough to break him out of attack-mode. It was to the point that I couldn't take Dexter out for a quick pee break without a muzzle. It was a scary and dangerous situation for everyone involved and I knew that Dexter needed professional help. When I first emailed Christie she was welcoming and honest about what I could expect from her initial training with Dexter. She also let me know that there was hope for Dexter. Her straightforwardness and open communication style was what made me decide to sign Dexter up for Christie's month-long board and stay program. On the day of Dexter's drop off I was delighted to see how beautiful and well maintained her property is. I had expected to feel nervous about leaving Dexter for the first time since I adopted him, but I didn't have any misgivings about leaving Dexter in Christie's care. During Dexter's stay Christie kept me updated on Dexter and answered all of my questions and concerns promptly. Dexter has bad allergies, so when he had some particularly bad allergy days during his stay, Christie immediately contacted me to let me know. Christie even gave Dexter additional medication and ointment applications without hesitation. She took good care of Dexter and went above and beyond what I would have expected a trainer to do. When I picked Dexter up Christie walked me through all of the basic obedience that Dexter had learned. She was helpful and patient as I learned how to properly walk and correct Dexter. I was so impressed by all that he had learned in such a short amount of time. Dexter performed his sits, stays, downs, heeling and walking all while other dogs, cats, and turkeys walked and played around him. Again, Christie was honest about what to expect when Dexter came home and told me that he would try to test what he could get away with as he adjusted to me being in charge. Sure enough, Dexter has tested me a couple of times since being home, but I can honestly say that even when he tests his limits, it is absolutely nothing like the way he used to react to other dogs. There is no more screaming, barking, snapping, or lunging happening. Additionally, I now feel more confident in my reactions and ability to control Dexter and the situation. Practicing his obedience is actually fun now and I really enjoy taking him for walks again. Christie has helped shape Dexter into the dog that I knew he had the potential to be. I am so impressed with the results of her basic obedience training with Dexter that I plan to continue training with her. If you are desperate for help with an aggressive dog and don't think there is hope for them, I highly recommend K9 Mastery! read more

Christie is awesome! We took our two rambunctious, litter mate, 3 year old pups through her board & train program and we are super impressed by their progress. We got our dogs at 8 weeks old. As first time puppy owners, we made the mistake of getting two at the same time. While they turned out very sweet and affectionate, training had been very hard going. Generic puppy kindergarten and treat-based programming did not seem to stick. Our biggest concern was that simple walks around the neighborhood were a huge ordeal: they would pull so hard on the leash and chase after any & all distractions. We made the hard decision to spend a little extra on their training when we found out we would be moving away from a big backyard to an apartment with maybe a dog park nearby. We chose K9 Mastery based on their good reviews. We dropped the dogs off for a month to train. We got updates with pictures every week. When we came to pick them up, we were blown away by the progress our dogs made in just a few weeks! We only wanted them to walk nice on a leash, but Christie also taught them heel, stay, sit, and down. They got good enough to stay sitting in Home Depot by themselves!!! We also got a one-on-one, two-hour training session to teach us humans us how to handle our transformed pups. Overall, we are super happy we decided to trust Christie with our pups. Worth every penny. Would highly recommend. read more

This place and Christie are amazing! My partner and I adopted a dog (Marcel) from Austin's Animal Shelter in late November of last year. Marcel was unbelievably sweet when we first brought him home, and got along with strangers very easily. This honeymoon phase lasted about a week, and then Marcel started to show all the typical signs of fear-aggression. We had planned a longish trip to the East Coast for the holidays, and were scrambling to find a place that would take him once we realized our original pet sitter was not going to do the trick. After having terrible experiences with places refusing to take him due to his barking, we were prepared to cancel our trip and stay home. I started googling dog boarding outside of the Austin Area, and stumbled across Christie's site. I called up and hesitantly asked if they were okay with aggressive dogs, Christie immediately replied "That's what we do!" Since that conversation, we have taken Marcel to K9 2x for boarding, one time for over 10 days. The farm and facilities are amazing, but most importantly it is clear Marcel has a blast when he is there! It was so amazing to see Marcel playing with other people and dogs when we came to pick him up after our trip. Christie and her staff are truly miracle workers, and we would not take Marcel anywhere else! read more

I don't know what we can possibly say about K9 Mastery. They SAVED OUR DOG. Stanley was twice returned to a local shelter for being over active and having aggression tendencies. Tendencies was a kind word. LOL....this dog was crazy. We tried unsuccessfully with another trainer to uncover the sweet dog we knew he was inside. He was aggressive not only towards other dogs, but people as well. By learning what WE were doing wrong, and how to correct this, we now have our sweet dog! Christie has been great to deal with, very professional and attending class EVERY SINGLE WEEK, I have never heard any of the owners say anything other than what a blessing this class has been for their dog. You WILL have to put in the work, at class and outside of class. If you are not, your dog will not retain what he has learned (and that wouldn't be the trainer's fault!!!). I would be very cautious with anyone saying that what she does doesn't work (that is clearly a person not working with their dog). I have recommended several of my friends and they all love the program. Thanks for giving us our sweet pup back K9 Mastery! read more

My dog, Kona, just finished the basic obedience course and the transformation has been amazing! I didn't realize how much room for improvement there was. She already knew what basic commands meant, but I had a hard time getting her to listen to me when it really mattered - when there were distractions and other dogs around. The training at K9 Mastery takes place around other dogs intentionally, which gave Kona the perfect environment to learn to really listen. I brought Kona to K9 Mastery originally because she had started demonstrating aggressive behavior toward other dogs. She is an Australian Shepherd mix with lots of energy and strong herding instincts. After she bit another dog at a park, I started to get nervous every time I took her out, and knew I needed to be able to control her better to keep her and those around her safe. Christie is great with stubborn and aggressive dogs. Now I feel completely confident taking Kona out with me, and am looking forward to the off-leash training in the Intermediate level of the obedience classes! read more

Gosh I don't even know where to start. Christie is an amazing dog trainer to say the least. I contacted Christie because I needed help with my bossy/grouchy dog. Christie took the time to show me how to be a better dog parent, trainer and pack leader. My dog wasn't always very dog friendly but with the training she's much better. She plays with all dogs large and small. She no longer growls and chases other dogs that come near her. I've seen a vast improvement with my fur-kid. Christie is very passionate about what she does and honestly, I've never seen a harder working person in my life. She definitely has the drive that's required to PROPERLY train a dog. She definitely takes pride in her work. The great thing about Christie's training is that it works on ALL dogs, whatever their issues may be. You honestly can't go wrong. Your dog will love you for it and you'll both be happier. read more

K9 Mastery is the only trainer in central TX that is worth anything. There's no pockets full of treats, no frilly froo froo junk, and she keeps it 100% real with no nonsense. Christie doesn't just train dogs, she trains YOU to be a better dog owner. You are taught how to properly handle your dog, whether it's just a little stubborn or if it's a "dangerous, untrainable" dog like mine was. I emphasize WAS. Within a wk, my dog was no longer trying to attack every animal or person he saw. Christie is the kind of person who tells it like it is, but done with nothing but the dog's best interest at heart. She would rather lose business than compromise her own integrity, which says a lot in today's society. There is no other trainer in Texas that i would even consider consulting. K9 Mastery is the best, paws down. read more

Our GSD had more problems than I care to list! One of the biggest problems was that he would not walk on a leash without yanking and pulling you all over the place. We paid for five different trainers and they were ALL worthless!! One of them cost over $1000 and they kept him for 2 weeks. When he got home he was just the same as when he left if not worse. When my wife found K9 Mastery I thought it was going to be more wasted money. But, within ten minutes Christie had our dog walking on the leash without pulling! It was so amazing to us. I also witnessed two pit bulls laying under a tree doing a 45 minute stay in the down position with other dogs including ours walking all around them and they didn't budge! We would recommend Christie to anyone who wants a good trainer that actually works! read more

I cannot speak highly enough for this company. I adopted my dog, a 60 lb husky lab, from the local shelter. When I brought him home, I quickly learned he was aggressive and didn't like ANY other animals. Having a large aggressive dog is terrifying and I had no idea what to do. My mom heard about K9 mastery and told me I should bring him. When I went, I was instantly impressed with Christie and the way she handled my dog so well, she definitely knew what she was doing. I only finished the introductory part of his training, and his behavior took a complete 180. He is now the sweetest dog ever. He is also living with another dog. Not only does he like other animals now, but he lives with one and they play every day. I'm so pleased with K9 mastery and I'd trust them with my dog any day. read more

We cannot thank Christie enough for her help with Bella! After boarding her at another facility over night Bella started exhibiting aggressive/fearful behaviors towards strangers and other dogs. We contacted another local training facility and were told we would need to medicate her....Christie proved that wasn't true. We finished basic obedience with her and can now take Bella anywhere. That same dog is now getting compliments everywhere we go on how well behaved she is! If you are looking for a trainer I would not look anywhere else! She is the absolute best! We're currently doing intermediate with Christie and will continue training with her for all of our training needs!!! read more

I started training with K9 Mastery but was unable to complete it due to a busy schedule and moving over 45 minutes away. I continue to use K9 Mastery for boarding when we travel and I have experienced nothing but greatness. Christie really cares about dogs and it shows. I recommend K9 Mastery for training and boarding. Although we did not complete training I saw a huge difference in obedience with my dog and was pleased with the results! read more

K9 mastery is the best and only training I will ever use with my k9s. I have 3 dogs that I have taken through all 3 levels of obedience and have all 3 passed the advance test. Thanks to k9 mastery I have a more in tune relationship with my dogs and I am able to do more with them and take them more places bc I know they will listen and obey any time. I HIGHLY recommend this training for anyone who wants the best for the pups. read more

K9 Mastery saved my dogs' lives. Literally, two of my dogs would be dead today instead of living in a multi-dog family, loving each other, quietly waiting for dinner, not suffering from crippling fear and the resulting aggression, but living quite honestly the best life they could ever imagine. K9 Mastery did that for me and my dogs. It is a gift I will spend the rest of my life trying to repay. read more

I've been bringing my dog Lola to basic obedience classes with Christie and have been really pleased with our results. Lola had started becoming afraid and slightly aggressive with other dogs, and now she is back to her old playful self at the dog park! She listens so much more consistently and we have a closer relationship. I'll be back for intermediate level classes! read more
