She LOVES being there; she is so happy in my car when she sees we are approaching the facility! The staff are always happy to see us when we come in. A couple weeks ago, we went out of town, and boarded Honey there for 4 days. We missed her, but it gave us great peace of mind knowing she was being well cared for. Camano Island Kennels is a well run facility, and I give it 5 stars!

It can get pricey, but I've found it's definitely worth it, with a GPS image of the route and a snapshot from the walk. This sounds silly, but the images they send are often like professional pet portraits and it gives me peace of mind while I'm traveling. One of them is currently the background on my phone. They also do nice holiday perks, like a Thanksgiving turkey meal or pictures of your dog with the Grinch (who's a very committed staff member in a full blown costume). I get the sense that the folks who work here are good people who love dogs and have a solid sense of humor. Whenever they arrive, my pup jumps up to say, "Hi" and gladly hops along into the car. TLDR - I always feel confident sending my dog here, and I appreciate how they take such good care of my sweet girl.

My most recent visit, I boarded my two dogs for 8 nights and had given instructions to give my dog his anxiety medication once daily. Upon pick up, I was told he didn't receive his medication and specific wording from the worker (Colleen) was "it's as needed right" despite giving specific instructions for once daily AND the pill bottle saying the same. I called once I got my dogs home to ask why the medication wasn't given and the workers exact words were "I forgot" and "I just got back from vacation and didn't see his medication written on the board." She did say he got the med the two days she wasn't there and still charged me for those days. After giving it some thought, I decided that mistakes happen and I was willing to continue to board my dogs there for my next trip. I called to reserve them a spot and was told they were full. I called back to ask to be placed on a waiting list and the same worker said she would call me by the end of the day the next day and let me know if she had anything open up. I never received a call. At this point, it's just bad business and clear this worker doesn't care about the clients.

I entrusted the lives and well being of my 3 dogs: Roxy, Kal, & Bruce during our 2 night stay in…read moreLeavenworth to enjoy the Christmas holiday. I asked for Bruce and Kal to be roomed together, as I was told all 3 couldn't share a room, because Bruce has become very bonded to his brother since joining our family 3 years ago. They share a kennel sometimes and sleep together every night. We were surprised when the receptionist told us upon pick-up on Sunday that we couldn't room Kal and Bruce together next time because Bruce just lost it and attacked Kal. First they said it happened Saturday night, then upon further questioning, said they found him like that Sunday morning. Either way, I should have been contacted immediately. When they walked my poor boy out, his jowls were swollen 3 times their size!!! He could barely walk and just appeared to have been through the wringer. The woman said she bathed him "to get the blood off" but he still looked dirty and smelled so I bathed him when we got home. The water ran yellow with the feces in his fur. But they bathed him? he could barely even stand during the duration I had to clean him up. She pointed out a small cut by his ear but I see scratches all over his body, no open wounds, but on his forearm there was a red gash from elbow to wrist! Red, but not open. Like when you scratch yourself from an allergic reaction, like a mosquito bite maybe, except he can't reach there and if another animals, big or small, dog or even cat, got ahold of him, it wouldn't look like that. His face feels like Braille with all the small...cuts? all over his face. We are constantly asking "what happened to you???" Of course the people there said well it must have been his Bruce but he didn't have a mark on him. So Kal just laid there and took it? But wouldn't Bruce's mouth have some sort of wear if he tore up another dog? Knowing our dogs, we don't believe one bit. I have no idea what could have happened to him in there, none of his small scars point to any kind of abuse but you can bet I will never return to that facility should my life depend on it. It is sad a local business like that cannot be trusted for 2 nights!!! What about people boarding for longer?!?! It makes me sad considering I am a big supporter of small business but please reconsider when looking to board here. Get a tour, interview the staff-and the owner! He tried to word play us too but saying his staff was so upset about what happened to Kal...then why didn't you call me immediately upon finding him like that? And why does your story keep changing? I'm only thankful it wasn't worse and he has seemingly recovered well with some gabapentin and rest.

Multiple fenced enclosures and unlike most other boarding facilities, they let the dogs out to run and play with each other. Our dog always comes home exhausted and happy. It is down a long dirt road and our dog has figured out what it means when we start driving down it. She couldn't be more excited to go back every time. They are often booked during holidays, so make sure to book in advance. Prices are very reasonable and the owners are very good and patient with the animals. My only complaint is the somewhat limited hours on Sundays. It makes pick ups and drop offs a bit more inconvenient since we're always coming from out of town. To the person who left a 1 star review with their dog covered in feces, we have never had any issues like this. Baths aren't included by default so if someone's dog likes to roll around in their own feces or gets stressed out in a kennel environment and goes to the bathroom in their kennel, then this is entirely possible, but nowhere near neglectful. Our dog has come home dirty and smelly a few times, but we take her there year-round and this is the result of them playing with other dogs outside in the dirt and mud. It can't be avoided and I prefer the setup they have. I do believe they offer baths, but I'm not certain.

We had to have the vet records faxed as they were all (in the area) recovering from a bortadella (kennel cough) outbreak. We ended up leaving him a 3rd nite, as Harold said he was doing great and running all over the fenced areas. We asked for a bath before we picked him up and that was done, he was fine, glad to see us but seemed to do well with all the other dogs. I was very happy with the care he got, would definitely use them again.
