I can't believe it's been over 10 years since I started working with Anthony on my dog's dog aggression issues. Not only is he my dog trainer, he's been there for me over the years as a safe person to leave my dog with when I'm traveling. When my dog got really sick last week due to possible cancer and nearly had to be put down, he was one of the first people I thought to let know what was going on. Several sessions later and not only is my pup trained to stay quiet during my work Zoom calls, but I'm also geared with the parent skills and dog psychology knowledge (which Anthony has a PhD in animal psych in) taught to me by Anthony to maintain the sweet and tame nature of my puppy! I'm SO glad I got my puppy started on training with Anthony. My puppy is just as funny and sweet as ever, but my home is way calmer and the overall energy is far more peaceful and happy now since we've had our lessons with Anthony. Re-upping this review as I've received messages on Yelp that Anthony improperly attempted to get it deleted from various sites to hide his very poor dog training skills, poor customer service, and poor communication. Much worse than a complete waste of money. K9 Bar Academy did not deal with my dog's aggression whatsoever. Instead they merely taught her a series of commands -- which she already knew and which I expressly told them I wasn't interested in. In fact, in the month that they had my dog, they didn't even call her by the right name while supposedly training her. When I complained about the services, Anthony refused to discuss it, address the issue, or refund any portion of the $1500 he charged me not to deal with my dog's aggression. And the worst part, she is still aggressive to other dogs after being away from me for a whole month and now I have to pay several thousand more and send her to someone else to actually deal with the issue I hired K9 Bar Academy to deal with. Anthony with K9 Bar Academy helped me tremendously with my 3 1/2 year old pit bull Zeus! My 5 year old daughter and I were in the process of moving into my father's home for a period of time after my recent divorce. Unfortunately, my 120 pound pitty (who has been our family dog since he was 3 months old) absolutely hated my Dad's dog (a 110 pound Rottweiler). At first introduction, the two dogs seemed as if they would kill each other. Needless to say this was a recipe for disaster and I needed professional help. I found K9 Bar Academy online and got in contact with Anthony. He spent almost 45 minutes reviewing my situation and training needs for Zeus. We decided the board and train program was the best option. Anthony and his team worked with Zeus for 5-6 weeks and communicated with me every step of the way. He sent videos on training progress consistently. I even brought my dads dog to the board and train facility so that the 2 dogs could come together on neutral territory and do some training together. Anthony brought Zeus home to us after almost 6 weeks and worked with our entire family on training, commands, routines, and dinner table manners. He spent 6 hours with everyone and helped ensure everyone was speaking the same language to Zeus. Zeus received the necessary training to be able to come home with us and for us to have the 2 dogs together. My Dad's dog is very old (14) and Zeus is able to be with her without issue now because he received the training and structure he needed. I am VERY thankful to have found K9 Bar Academy and SO happy with their services! Anthony is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and gives clear and realistic expectations. Buyer Beware - What a mistake. I wish I had done further investigating before spending $2,000. Regardless if you read this entire review or not, and decide to use this joker, Please, go and inspect his facility yourself. Don't rely on his "pick-up and delivery' service. Go and see his 'fenced yard'. First we had Anthony come to our home to do an evaluation lesson. $150 later, we had the sales pitch, and not much more (except for the leashes and collars he also said we really Must Buy. We were told, and shown at our home by Anthony on his iPhone, several videos to entice us to see how well past students respond and behave. He clearly knew exactly what 'examples' he was playing for us. He was most proud of a pit bull who was responding beautifully off leach with verbal commands. Very impressive and had us sold. He said "Give me your dogs, and they too will be responding like that with just 3-4 weeks of training at my compound". We were also told that the dogs stay in crates and kennels INSIDE one of his, "air-conditioned' houses. Sounds great right? Here is what actually happened. My wife dropped off 1 of our poodles for training. Poncho was 18 months old, and we decided not to put our older 6 year old Sally, through training. She was fine in both of our eyes. This was really for the new boy in town. Anyway, My wife, visited and saw the training yard and was satisfied. She also walked through the 'air conditioned house. Aside from him and his 'room-mates', there was no sign of kennels inside the home. During the training process we did receive crude, videos on Poncho's performance. They were short, 30 seconds to 1 minute clips every 3-5 days. We were semi impressed. But 2 weeks later, when Anthony exclaimed that this was the final video, and Poncho had graduated, I was very disappointed. That final video still had our 18 month old, on leash, and really still not quite listening even with TOUGH TUGS on the 'TRAINING LEAD. I asked Anthony how could Poncho possibly be graduating when he clearly is still on the leash. He replied in a snap, "This is on leash training only, and it will be another $2000 and another 4 weeks for off leash training" I reminded him of the videos he proudly played for us just before he asked us to 'sign here", and all he could say was "READ YOUR CONTRACT" This is ON LEASH ONLY. And he further exclaimed, he was going to bring our dog home in 3 days. Period. Well the next day I called him and discussed the situation further. And he agreed to take Poncho on for anther 2 weeks, (after we would have him back home for 1 week break) for an additional $1,000. Hmmm, does this sound like bait and switch? Well we were knee deep already, so I agreed. This time I went to the COMPOUND to drop off both our dogs as we would be traveling and we thought it would be a good time just to have both dogs together for the 2 weeks. Well, what I found was "much different than the brochure". On the 'in-take' the dogs were placed in the CAR GARAGE. Yes, the door was cracked open, yes it had a fan. But these kennels certainly were NOT INSIDE THEAIR CONDITIONED HOUSE. And the garage was at least 85-90 degrees. I was starting to feel queasy. I did not want to leave my dogs in a sweltering garage. But my wife and I were committed to leaving town, and I was trying to put my fears aside. When I was asked for payment and he wanted to put the payment through 'pay-pal', and he wanted me to "sign in" in HIS PERSONAL COMPUTER, I had had enough. Yes, I pulled my dogs out of there immediately. Hope you have a better experience wherever you decide to get your dog trained. But do inspect the facility and ask to see the business permits. I had a few questions regarding dog training my new long-haired chihuahua so I decided to call up a few local dog training companies and I stumbled onto K9 BAR Academy. I met Anthony on the phone and he was really helpful off the bat. He answered all my questions and gave some suggestions that I found really helpful. I then decided to bring my dog in so we could meet Anthony and to get a better understanding of his process. Anthony suggested I bring him in for a 'puppy imprinting' boarding and training session (where he would keep the dog for 2-3 weeks, training him while he was in his possession). I ended up following his advice and I'M SO GLAD I did. After HE brought the dog to my place to drop him off, he also gave ME a lesson to teach me what he's taught the dog and how to communicate with him. Everyone comments on how well behaved my dog "Nutello" is and I only have Anthony and his team to thank. He and his team really know what they're talking about and get the job done. We started working with Anthony because we are expecting our first child in a few weeks and we wanted a few very specific things from our two dogs Chachi & Howie including 1) to not have them on the furniture anymore 2) to have better, more controlled walks 3) to have better obedience in place prior to the baby arriving. Chachi and Howie both did the board & train program for 5 & 6 weeks respectively. After that training, and after us making a concerted effort to continue that training at home for almost two months (meaning keeping them on leash in the home and constantly giving them a job to do), I feel very satisfied that our needs were met. They pretty much never try to get up on our furniture and I'm able to go on slow - moderately paced walks with them (which is key as I'm now 9 months pregnant)! We've come to realize that they actually like being told what to do and it has made our relationship with them much better. I continue to take Chachi & Howie to Anthony's for daycare 1x / week and I plan to board them there when we go out of town. I like that they get reinforcement of their training from being there and that they get to socialize with other dogs. I just wish they were closer to us - if so, I would definitely take them to daycare there more often! Also, what I like about Anthony's training method is that anytime I have a problem, he has very clear, actionable recommendations for how to fix that problem. That's key for us as other trainers haven't been able to offer that. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars (and it's really probably only worth a reduction of about 1/4 of start but I can't do that!) is because we didn't get videos during their board and train unless I asked (which was about 1x/week), and the quality of those videos was pretty low. It's something that Anthony talked to us about before we committed to working with him, and something that his other clients that we spoke with said was done regularly - so our expectations of this aspect of their service were pretty high going in. I would just recommend making sure you know what you are getting when it comes to this from the beginning and you'll be fine. Our dog, Labor (a pitbull/greyhound mix) has always been a very intelligent dog. We took him to K9 bar academy to really Fine tune his abilities. Labor obeys every command now, and learns new tricks within a day. I believe it was the lessons he (AND us) got from K9 Bar Academy that has helped us really enjoy our pup even more and to make Labor the kind of dog that even our friends welcome into their home. The biggest challenge was that Labor would always pull on his leash when going for a walk. Great for building up arm strength, but bad when trying to enjoy a stroll. Just one day with Anthony and his crew at K9 Bar Academy, and Labor walks like a show dog. Stops when we stop, and will even sit and stay if we let go of the leash, waiting for the release command to come to us. I love it! I initially took my doggie to Anthony for a three week training program. We were very happy with the results. When our dog walker had family issues and could no longer come to the house, I decided to see if Anthony had any kind of a day care program. Well, he does! I have been taking my little guy there two to three times a week, and he loves it. I tell him that we are going to camp in the morning before we leave, and he gets really excited and runs around the house. Once we get there, he is so happy to be at camp that he doesn't even care that I'm leaving! Nice, huh? Anyways, I feel safe and happy leaving him with Anthony during the day while I'm at work. I had my dogs board with Anthony 7 years ago and I never wrote a review but now I'm ready. My dogs were with him for a few weeks. One came back with multiple gashes in his neck (still bleeding and raw). When I asked him about it he said he had no idea or maybe it was heat rash (I asked my vet and he said no way). I was livid. I also got charged for a few groomings and washes that I never 'ok'd.' I cried for days after because i felt horrible for leaving my dogs with someone that at this point I didn't trust. I have no idea what conditions my dogs were ever in. Anthony also called me a few days before he was bringing my dogs home. He said I needed to provide lunch for him while we meet and discuss the training. You are not allowed to provide pizza or anything with eggplant for him. What a bizarre experience and a waste of money. There are not shortcuts. Take your dogs to training where you are there with your pups. It's too late for me to dispute, get my money back, or call the company. I just wanted to warn others. Also, he never dealt with one of my dog's aggression which was the main reason why I decided to send him away for a month. read more

Anthony and his crew are great. I think they have a special way of interacting with and understanding dogs. I took my dog to him for boarding and training based on a recommendation from some friends, and I couldn't have been happier with both the care my dog was given and the training she received. I've had dogs all my life and thought my dog-handling skills were pretty good, but Anthony was able to teach me just as much, if not more, as my dog. My dog was a rescue and, although she didn't have a lot of bad behavioral issues, she didn't have the best manners and wasn't the most obedient. After spending time with Anthony, she is very dialed-in with her commands and I now know how to work with her to reinforce her good behaviors and teach her new ones. It's a bonus that Anthony also provides boarding services. He is always accommodating and whenever my dog spends time with him, she gets a little refresher course on the training she already received. I would recommend Anthony to anyone. We love K9 Bar Academy. We have been sending our two dogs (one a pit mix and the other a lab/pointer mix) here for years. This was after we had them stay there for 3 weeks for training while we went on a trip. Anthony did a great job training the dogs. The pit mix had some dog aggression issues, but with the training, he is very much under control. This doesn't mean that he loves all other dogs now, but that he can be controlled on a walk (even if another dog was off leash and came running up to him). We had worked with a few other trainers before and with Anthony it finally clicked! It is also great to have them trained to stay on their special bed when we have company over or are eating dinner until we tell them that they are free to get off. As for boarding, for the pit mix this is a great environment b/c he gets his own kennel and he gets socialization time with other dogs that have all been trained by Anthony so it works! Anthony is great at reading these animals and keeping them under control. I didn't believe it until he showed me multiple videos. The other dog could be boarded anywhere as he has no issues, but we prefer to board them together. The perk for him is that in the summer, he gets to swim in the pool. They are always excited to go and so it makes leaving them easier. As for price, the rates are on par with other places. I definitely recommend Anthony for training and boarding! read more

Me and my family was going to Universal for a day and had to drop our dog off. Found Anthony on Yelp and was very accommodating for my dog. It was in a house inside an air conditioned garage with a sweet TV for the dogs. Rooms for the dog had a bed and great space. We (my husband and I) can't say enough about Anthony. Let me just say, having an infant and a puppy is a challenge. After intensive research, we decided to trust our 8 week old puppy to Anthony, and now we came to realize that, that was the best decision ever. K9 Bar Academy was able to turn my in-law's dog from a dog who could not be around other dogs to my dog's best friend. My wife is a doctor and in her first year of residency. I am an attorney at a very busy firm. We have a beautiful, very well-behaved labrador/pit-bull mix named Laila. We were spending $700 a month at a doggy daycare center nearby that was the cheapest one around but we didn't have much of a choice given our schedules. My in-law's lived nearby and had a large backyard but they had an older dog, Maggie, who could never be around other dogs due to rage problems. Maggie was the sweetest dog around people but would turn to Kujo if she so much as saw another dog. It didn't matter what type of dog, or what size; if she saw another dog, she would turn into Mr. Hyde, bark ferociously, and try to fight it. As a puppy, she was kicked out of training school. She usually spent her days looking outside the windows and barking at dogs passing by. Obviously, taking Maggie out for a walk was not an option (even on a leash). Maggie was also considered untrainable as she was old and "set in her ways." My wife and I would have loved to drop Laila off with my in-law's but having Maggie around would make it dangerous. My mother-in-law found Anthony (owner of K9 Bar Academy) online and suggested boarding Maggie with him for 4 weeks while she was on vacation. Anthony heard about the problem discussed above and said we should board Laila and Maggie together for that period and he could train them to get along. We thought it was impossible - Maggie could not be around other dogs. What Anthony did with Maggie and Laila was unbelievable. They are now best friends. Although Maggie still has issues with other dogs (but not as severe), her and Laila are best friends. My wife and I drop off Laila and her and Maggie play alone for hours. Because of Anthony, we are saving $700 per month! Laila and Maggie eat together, play together, sleep together, even rest against each other! Maggie has been turned from Kujo into my dog's best friend! My wife's family can't believe how amazing of a job Anthony did. With regards to Laila, I was not happy to let Laila go for 4 weeks. I knew I would miss her, I read a questionable review online, and Anthony was a complete stranger to me. I could not have been more wrong. Anthony texted me videos to show me that Laila (and Maggie) were having a good time, I was able to see Laila on a 24-hour surveillance camera, and he let us visit her during the weekend. When we got Laila back, she was healthy, happy, and more obedient than ever. In addition, Anthony is always available if you have any questions. Anthony and his team (Erica and Jennifer) are true professionals that care about your dog as much as you do. We adopted our American Bulldog, Spike, from Anthony, after the previous owner was not able to keep him. When my husband saw Spike in the Yard, he immediately fell in love with him and we just couldn't resist adopting him. Knowing that Spike was already trained with basic commands made the transition easy for us. As a powerful dog, you can only imagine the mischief that he could get into . But with Anthony and his teams' training, it helped us to feel more in control of the dog for ours and his safety. We are also thrilled that Anthony has welcomed Spike with open arms back to his facility, whenever we go out of town and need his dog sitting services.
