I called k12 tech support and was told that a rush order was being placed and it should take 2 days to receive a new computer. its been 5 days and still nothing. DO NOT! Enrol your child here! The lack of communication and bureaucratic process that they WILL put you through is draining! My son was enrolled with K-12v while we were living in the state of California. The name of the school was CAVA! My son is autistic and has anxiety he is not able to go to in person school. He was attending his classes online regularly until one day the teacher Christine Kopfstein saw the the background looked different and SHE ASKED HIM! "Are you not at home?" which I am not even sure she is allowed to do. My son told her we had moved to Florida that same week, and she took it upon herself to DROP HIM from her ONLINE! class just because we had moved! I begged her not to do this. To please let him at least finish the school year because i was to late on the year and this would affect him greatly especially due to his condition! SHE DIDN"T CARE she reported my son moved after being nosy and asking him all this herself and DROPPED him form her class suggesting a trasfer to a Florida based online school. I was doing transfer papers for MONTHS! and after all the back and forth with representative after representative for all that time THEY INFORMED ME that all the deadlines were past! and he simply could not be transfered at this time! HE lost half of his school year because of this school's endless bureaucracy! Since my son's condition doesnt allow for him to go to in person school I started the enrolment process at the BEGINNING OF THE SUMMER for the following school year! The had me AGAIN for two months sending papers, papers that they denied and later approved! I must have spoken to at least 200 online enrolment representatives and it was at the end of the summer! One week into the school year that one of the representatives asked me for a brand new paper that NO ONE had never mentioned before! A letter from the school district that said that my son had been homeschooled for the second half of the school year! I EXPLAINED to every single one of them until I was blue in the face! That i was dropped by THEIR COMPANY BECAUSE OF THE TEACHER ASKING PERSONAL QUESTIONS and that THEYYYYY took MONTHS in their so called "transfer" process which at the end it never happened because they were asking paper after paper fand at the end THE DEADLINE CAME and there was nothing no one could do. I bought a homeschooling program for my son so that he would not loose those last few months. I printed a proof of enrolment letter and explained that thanks to one of their teacher's decision and lack of compassion and profesionalism all of this had happened. They strung me along for the entire summer sending them paper after paper and at the end the same answer THE DEADLINE HAS PASSED AND WITHOUT this last paper that we are just now mentioning a week after school has started your son cannot attend our school. These people work as if they are selling shoes online. The children are not important to them and enrolling them is NOT A PRIORITY. Enrolment counselors DONT COMMUNICATE WITH each other. No one takes notes of phone calls and everyone asks you for a different paper every time you call. They make you loose your time and energy for MONTHS with an enrolment process that NEVER ENDS and DOESN"T WORK! they DONT CARE ABOUT THE KIDS. RUN to another school and do not enrol your child here! So, like most people, I didn't want to send my daughter to public school because of COVID-19. This was the seconds school that I enrolled my child into. I was told that there was a lot of face time between my child and her teacher(s). Turns out, she's in the computer for 1 maybe 2 hours a day. Going through only 2 subjects. I was overwhelmed! My child wasn't learning anything. She was way behind and I decide rather than to wait any longer that it was time to enroll into in person classes. She's doing much better now; however, I sent in a refund request to them 12/2021 and just heard back from them 3/2022 and that was after I had to call them again. They say she was there more than 30 days so I can't get my money back, but their description of their services never included that I had to do more teaching than the actual teachers. Good look getting records. I am currently trying to get transcripts. The first time during our move to another school because i moved out of state it was next to impossible. The phone prompts tell you to call the school but the school told me I had to call the k12 main office. this was a ton of back and forth b4 it got done. Fast forward to senior year, now i need the official transcript. my log in no longer works so I try to recover it but it says my email is not in the system. Same email I've ever had. So I try to call the number online. After going through all the prompts it tells me to call another phone # for customer care. I hang up and call that number. I go through the prompts fro what I need and it tells me call the school! I cant get to that because I cannot login or recover my login! I call the number it directed to again. Now I follow a different prompt to get a human on the phone and it tells me to call the number I am currently on and tells me to have a nice day and hangs up!! Now I try the chat feature and it just keeps spooling nobody is there. So now I call the original number online but instead of following the proper prompts because that didn't work; I call enrollments. Now the prompts want the state so I dial for SC abbreviation for South Carolina 72 but it keeps saying there is no such state!! I hang up and try this 3 times before 72 finally works! I finally get a human on the phone and he lets me know that its not his area and that is when I let him know what I have been through. He kindly gives the phone number to what I need and connects me directly where of course no one answers but I can leave a message. I hope someone will return my call because this is very important. Also please fix this insane automated phone system! I remember going through this her freshman year and it has not changed! Please make sure everyone is on board with where to get records, Teacher, Learning Coach, Main Office, 3rd Party Company?? This is what was told to me freshman year. I hope that when they return my call they can just send this transcript! The automated call is stressful enough and I do not want another run around within the school of pointing fingers. Also the 3rd party company will not send you a transcript without a log in and they will not let you recover a login for security and privacy reasons. My chat session is still spooling... I pre registered my daughter last year and they never did it. So here it is beginning of the school year and I have no classes or books. I have been placed on hold a total of 9 hours and passed from person to person with no answers. I have 4 open cases against wava. I have no answers to when she will get books or classes and she's in 6 th grade. If she was a student last year and I did the preregistration how did this happen? This is from a former student. I have been going here for about 1/2 years and here is my take. This school SUCKS for the students. But is helpful for parents that are busy. First of all in live classes they never get to the point of the lesson until the end of class which leaves the students to self teach. There is even classes that don't even have a teacher. Again most of the time your child will be self teaching most of the time. The teachers barely do their job right they barley grade work this school have caused me severe depression and anxiety I would NOT recommend this school to ANYONE!! read more

Poor communication and poor attitude. The girls answering the phone are very young and inexperienced with even the basic knowledge of the public education system. We temporarily tried K12 for a couple weeks. It was a hasty decision that I wish I would have had the time to check and research a little more. While I did see the idea and understood the benefit, I was far under a different assumption of how things were going to be before we got involved. I'm happy to report our registration didn't have any hang ups at all. All customer service people we encountered were very helpful and nice. Where we ran into problems started with navigating the setup. It is not very user friendly. There was a lot less teacher interaction then I anticipated. Learning coaches should be prepared to be teaching your children MOST of the things when it comes to the getting work done. Our work load was enough to keep us busy with work. The social aspect of it was hard on my child being use to public school. We both decided it was better for us to move him back to a public social environment. There were lots of changes in the work for improvement and I left with all the frustrating things we'd encountered in our time with them. It has potential, it just has a ways to get there. Most of the teachers are extremely disrespectful to students, My science teacher locks every assignment behind a code, and when I emailed her asking for a code to an assignment I missed she just gave me an explanation on how to get to class connects(basically saying 'sucks to be you, should've come to class') there isn't always a checkmark box for assignments I need to do so I can't always tell what's already been done, and the emails never let me mark them as read so I currently have 104 emails that need to be read individually even if I've marked them read read more

This online program has served our family well. While my youngest was in the DC school from 2nd-8th grade, my daughter's both took HS courses from the private options while in between transferring schools. The self-paced learning allowed my children to not waste time on material they had previously mastered while spending more time with topics that challenged them. I love the online community of families and felt the support of the teachers, administration, and other students throughout our experience. My biggest complaint is that there isn't a charter K12 HS option in DC, and that there are no public options in Maryland where we now live! read more

My review is for the quality of K12 curriculum, specifically - independent study courses. My 11 y/o twins are finishing 7th grade now with Inspire Charter, using K12's 8th grade online courses. We have been lucky to learn with K12 since kindergarten. I believe it is thanks to K12 my kids love learning, are independent learners and thinkers, excellent students who score as top 1%, pass advanced, or max on state required standardized tests, as well as are more mature and better socialized than most of their peers by age. I am especially pleased how comprehensive K12's courses in math, science, history are, even in elementary school. As a linguist, I must assure you that K12 language arts courses are superior to all currently available in the U.S. curricula. We are a military family. Every time we moved, we enrolled our kids in a local highly ranked public or private school first, yet every time saw how behind, academically and socially, our kids' peers in regular schools were; hence, every time we ended up switching back to either a K12 affiliated school (Virginia Virtual Academy, California Virtual Academy, Washington Virtual Academy, Inspire Charter School of CA, etc.) or, if this option was not available, we simply bought the independent study courses directly from K12, paying for them ourselves. All these K12 schools differed in their approaches depending on state requirements, school district policies, and other bureaucracies; yet, our positive experiences and opportunities with Virginia Virtual Academy (K12's public school option in VA) and Inspire Charter of CA (not affiliated with K12 but gives you funding to purchase K12 curriculum of your choice) outweigh by far anything any of the best highly ranked local brick-and-mortar schools or "free-range" homeschooling could possibly offer. My kids absolutely love K12. I am grateful to the company for putting together quality independent study courses and for the continuity they offered to us as a military family despite of all the moves we had to endure following my husband's demanding career. I do understand where some of the negative feedback comes from in the reviews below, yet to me, those are minor bureaucratic issues that can be fixed easily. Most of the time, if you look into it, the problem lies not with K12 but with the local school districts. Teachers differ from school to school, teachers' levels of experience and professionalism differ, people make mistakes. The reality is whether you are a homeschooler or simply want your child to have access to quality comprehensive curriculum to supplement your brick-and-mortar education gaps, K12 is there for you. It offers one of the best (if simply not the best) curricula available in this country today. It has been there for my twins for sure. NOTHING. I have been told my paperwork is incomplete but NO ONE can tell me WHY. I have emailed, chatted, and submitted multiple messages through their site MANY times. Nothing. I am seriously thinking they do not want my children enrolled because of our financial situation, but they can't exactly say that outright. So perhaps they hope I will get tired and go away. K12 is the overall company. The school that I specifically went to was California Virtual Academies @ San Diego (run by K12). So, this review will be about that specific part of K12. I went to this school for my senior year of high school. Let me just start out by saying I don't know WHY a homeschooling program would need my immunization record. You NEVER interact with other students, and the teachers never talk to you one-on-one, so I think that it is just a waste of time to go through all the trouble to get that. Secondly, they FORCE you to attend meetings with your "homeroom" teacher once a week. And instead of talking about how the week is going or if you need help, all the homeroom teachers do is play games like "guess the picture." I have other things to do, and I absolutely hate wasting time where it is not needed. Some of the teachers actually do cate about the students and make an effort to talk to them or K-mail them (e-mail through the school website) daily, but I wouldn't get your hopes up because that is rare. Not only do the lessons suck in general, but the teachers aren't even teaching! They assign videos and written lessons that you have to take notes on and then a quiz at the end of the lesson. The reason why that is so difficult is because they expect you to make inferences on things you know nothing about. The absolute worst was taking AP Macroeconomics. In the class connect sessions (video chat for when you need help), he would put up a slide show with all of the answers to the quizzes/tests, and read them. Then when we would use those answers he would say its plagiarism, and give us zeros on the assignments which we could NOT make up. And those assignments were worth A LOT of points. When you didn't write the answers exactly as he wanted them, you would get zero points on the problem. I wrote "decrease" instead of "lower" for a problem and I got 0/6 points. And those "mistakes" add up quickly, so I would end up getting low 20's out of 60 on every assignment. I studied my butt off and spent a lot of time in that class, but nothing worked. Also, they don't let you transfer out of a class after the first 2 weeks of school. The last, and probably most important thing, is that the website crashes ALL THE TIME!!!! I would get so behind on my work because I only have a certain time period every day that I could allow for school, and 75% of the time the site crashes or takes 5 minutes to load for each page you click to. For an online-based school, you would think that they know how to run a website, but obviously not. Overall, my experience with CAVA @ San Diego (run by k12) was terrible, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Stick with public school, or private school. I recommend you NOT expose your children to K12. Terrible teachers, seriously, the worst of the worst. they could not care any less. You will be left on your own. frustration at every turn, ask around, email your local homeschool groups ... they (teachers / admin.) will be responsive in the weeks prior to national testing, but before & after that you'll be lucky to get an email in return. (except for the re-enrollment period, when they send out pizza hut coupons) Mostly you'll be driven to other webstes for help (coolmathgames.com) which is games, but not involving math. You, as the parent, will become the "learning coach" and responsible for everything, but with no authority over the program. Like so many of the previous reviews I to was promised one thing in order for k12 to get my enrollment and once the paperwork was put what I was promoised quickly changed. My son was promised a spot in a TK Cava SD online public school. Once enrollment paperwork was completed all of a sudden my son was to young to enroll (after having given his dob to at least 3 different "enrollment specialists") I understand missing out on Transitional kinder isn't the end of the world but it does seem like this is a common occurrence for K12. It has to make you think about the lengths this company will go just to get your child enrolled. I'm sure it all comes down to money per enrollment. Its a shame. Not a happy parent whatsoever. K12 made a mistake and my re-registration was overlooked and even though it was their fault, they are not willing to allow my children to attend this year. So now I have to figure out where my children will attend by no fault of my own. How is that fair? My daughter has attended for 3 years straight. They have everything that they need for enrollment and yet I'm stuck. Not to mention that I cannot even get in touch with them to get all of my children's information for transfer to wherever they are going. This is just a mess! Having a semester of experience with this organization, I can confidently say they do not value the opinions of parents at all. Their methods for teaching and expectations of students do not align to Kansas standards, I cannot speak of other states. If I could give K12 the Virginia Virtual Program ZERO STARS I WOULD!!! If given the option to place your child within this program or another choose a different program as this one is HORRIBLE!! My daughter was enrolled in the K12 virtual program for kindergarten 2015-2016 the entire year. Pre-registered her to begin K12 in June 2016 for the next school year 2016-2017 for First Grade.. she is scheduled to start school on 9/6/16 and k12 has yet to finish her enrollment she has no class schedule, no books NOTHING. Have contacted k12 and no one seems to know how to do or what their job even is..no answers, no explanations NOTHING. You simply get transferred from one rep to the next. All the noise and the bright lights and shooting threats we get actually makes me scared to step into a building so I thought I'd try K-12 and it sent me to this awful school. Their website is not user friendly whatsoever. You have to go through 3 different tabs just to get to your assignment and it's insanely laggy. So I tried to unenroll. Took them three weeks of phone tag to do it and when they did, they didn't contact us about it even happening so we had sat there like sitting ducks for an additional few days. Now I'm drastically behind in the school year because I took a chance I deeply regret. I'm currently checking into wether I can take legal action against "VaVa" or not. Awful communication! I wish I could give it a lower rating. I applied for my kids in June, downloaded the app and they said I've done everything I needed to and I just had to wait to be contacted. I heard nothing. Called and wait for an hour and a half got half answers about my next steps. Did the next steps then got nothing. Called again was told to wait to be contacted AGAIN. My next contact was a no reply text saying my registration was canceled. Then I got an email saying they attempted to reach me multiple times...???? My number was the same one they texted and the same email that they emailed me from to say it was canceled. Thank god I have other options because these people are a joke. read more

No one calls back when they say they will, cannot answer simple questions about what's going on, only referring to "superiors" who cannot be reached or communicated with in any way. Everything sounds/seems impressive at first and we got through the enrollment process fairly easily for my 1 son (who tends to do well academically). They refused to take my other son who has an IEP and has not performed as well as his brother on state tests. (First red flag). After the first 3 days of "school" we pulled my son out. There is zero structure to the "classes". Work is basically posted on their site and the student is expected to learn independently and then do tests. No instruction is provided by teachers. My son never actually met/saw/interacted with any of his "teachers". He was told that for some classes he would not have any teacher involvement until after 3 weeks of school and even then the teachers could/would vary from week to week. No thank you! This type of environment may work for others but it definitely did not work for us. read more

We had a terrible time with enrolling our Daughter this year. We are now locked out of the enrollment because it has closed even though we spent two weeks trying to get enrollment completed. K12 gave us TJ Hinds to help us solve our problem but they only problem was he never responded to any of our emails or phone calls and only sent out automated messages saying he will respond and be patient. This AM he finally responded only to say and I quote "Hello, Enrollment is closed. Thank you". Very unprofessional and very incompetent. He never addressed our problem and his solution was the enrollment was closed. Sorry. This of course is a completely unacceptable way to run a school. We called with a simple issue to resolve and they sent us into a loop with no help. They give you someone to help you with your problem but they are completely incompetent or just don't care. We called at least 10 times and emailed 5 times. Each time we were told they were working on the problem. Now we are given the message that it is too late and sorry. Obviously we are very upset and have to start over for our daughter. If you have a problem and are trying to get help from K12 and the VAVA academy you are out of luck. read more

Awful absolutely awful. I cant say to much for the courses, and educational system. I never made it through the enrollment process because, I assume they just don't know what to do about a child not having SOL scores do to the virus! "You can send a letter from their school teacher stating that the child is at grade level for reading and math, in place of the scores" Great. I do exactly that. Except the teacher inputted one line that has them floundering for a response for 6 days. All it stated was that my sons grade level; - though proven by what test scores I did have available to me (STAR,PALS..) that he is well above grade level. They still rejected it and the academic review. `because she stated he doesn't do well with his independent work. (if I was just being given a bunch of worksheets, i would be pretty board and un interested too. Which, despite the virus is my main reason to homeschool in the first place. So, now. since schools have already started. ( almost 2 weeks) I could enroll my son into regular school, and play catch up, because I thought I would be schooling him through virtual virginia. but no. They don't really care about your student. The customer service reps give you different information, depending on who you talk to. Some can only read off of their screen and literally cant help you with anything. There is no communication what so ever. If you have a case pending, they will call and not leave a voicemail. You will wait on hold for thirty minutes to receive the 'End of call survey.' What a sloppy system. I could go to a normal public school and have my child enrolled within the hour. Im not sure why K12 thinks they are so high and mighty, or like to waste your time. If you are considering going through k12 (and maybe more specifically Virtual Virginia Academy- through K12) don't waste your time, find another curriculum that meets your standards and do it yourself. plenty of options out there, that is not a private academy costing you 900$ a year. Or a poorly run 'public school' and if you do. Start in January to ensure you have plenty of time to enroll. I started my process in the beginning of July, and I'm still having trouble. They need to be the ones to validate test scores and their concerns. with the SCHOOL you are transferring from. Not make the people do their job for them. Its not hard. Make a phone call, find out what you need and stop dragging this process out for parents who just want to enroll their children in their school. Worst experience enrolling a child ever. Don't do it. I went with powerhomeschool, 25$ a month, and it gives you 7 courses, ( online, videos, library, grading, certificates, report cards, attendance and electives that might actually teach your child something, they might actually be interested in. and you can start immediately. read more

Ugh.. I absolutely HATE k12. sums it up: TESTS TESTS TESTS STUPID TESTS I started k12 about a year and a half ago, due to my dad loosing his job, and we were coming out of a rough school situation. Honestly, I loved k12 at first, since we had started half way into the school year, I was free to do what I wanted when I wanted, and I actually loved it! I am in advanced classes. I did it on my own, and Finished in April But this year was WAY different. I am in 2 advanced classes, for math and english, and let me just say I absolutely hated doing this decision. You are required and forced to do those "class connect" things. The teacher spends roughly an hour to two hours jabbering about the lesson in the course. The annoying thing by far was that YOU COULD GO AND DO THE LESSON ON YOUR OWN. But NO, you cannot do that because you need credit! I wanted to go ahead in lessons, so that I could have a break when I went on vacation, but YOU CANNOT TAKE LESSON TESTS (which you have every single stinking lesson) UNTIL THE TEACHER ACCESSES IT AND OPENS IT TO THE STUDENTS! This made it very frustrating when I had to make up a weeks worth of school lessons after I was gone for an extended period of time; and I had to do it within the end of the week! With the end of the year coming near, I doubt my teachers will let me finish assignments before the end of June. AND STUDY ISLAND UGH I hate this! They Focus TOO much on the state testing, and I had DOUBLE WORK for my grade level and the advanced classes. Then they made us write a weekly and monthly paper about dumb topics even AFTER the state testing. I am NEVER EVER going to give them a good report, and if I ever get to contact k12, they will never hear the end of it. The individual I spoke to said the company would probably wave assessments as they were waiving them for many across the nation. In my case they didn't! The company penalized my son for being in a private school that didn't give the assessments they were looking for (ITBS, non-online Standford 10, and Woodcock Johnson). He would have taken the public school Standard of Learning assessment this year had it not been for Gov Ralph Northam school shutdown for the virus and forgoing SOLs for the 3-12. Then again I probably wouldn't be looking for this online option had it not been for this pandemic. I figured K12 is more capable of delivering coursework online, since that is what the school was designed for, especially when the 2020-2021 brick and mortar school has an uncertain future. The current emergency learning plan isn't delivering an adequate education in the 4th quarter of the academic school year as they were ill equipped to pivot to a comprehensive online learning platform to finish out the school year. In hindsight, maybe the denial of the assessments was for the best as I read others dissatisfaction of the k12 program for various reasons. I'm not trying to go from the frying pan into the fire with my kid's education. read more

IF THERE WAS A NO STAR OPTION THAT IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE PICKED! Run! Run fast and FAR! I am in NC this is the first year they have had NCVA open. I was so excited because frankly my school district leaves much to be desired. I enrolled her, it was seemless for us. Then we were waitlisted. Ok fine. Three weeks into the school year we get an acceptance letter, and we accepted. She was due to start the following Thursday. I got the award letter on the Wednesday before. Of course I ask if we will have her supplies on time? I mean you know, to go to their virtual (home school) academy we might need some books, a computer etc. I was assured it would all be here on time, and to check under my orders to see it on its way. I checked. And I checked. Nothing. Now it is Tuesday before she starts. I have already told her school she will be withdrawing Wednesday so she can start Thursday with NCVA. I withdraw my daughter Wednesday. Thursday comes. No supplies. I call again and they had finally been then Tuesday (after I reminded them about sending them) and would be here Thursday. The books came. That Tuesday I also inquired about the computer loaner and printer, since I wont lie, were not rich, and she needed it to start. I was then told I never filled out the form for it. I had. I showed it to them since I kept copies. Dated 2 full months before she was extended a seat. They apologize again and say the order was placed. Thursday comes. No computer. No printer. I call. And customer service lets me know no computer was ever scheduled to be sent. None. Nada. That the school did not even tell them (even after they had told me otherwise). Now I am beyond frustrated. See, we were already into day 2, and had 15 sheets of paper to PRINT to do her work. No printer. I call again the school says customer care is wrong (customer care sees all orders so how they were wrong Im not sure) and theyd get down to the bottom of it and call me back. I step outside, and I guess they called while my phone wasnt by me. They leave a message letting me know the computer would be another 7-10 business days AT LEAST. The reason? They have an allotted amount of time to get equipment to the student and are "well within that time period". So now, it hasnt even left the warehouse? And it wont until they have more orders, they said that too, to justify the shipping. Huh? They said I would have to take my daughter to the library to do her work and print. I explained Im not sure how their libraries are, but our local library only allows 1 hr per day and printing costs money. They did not seem to care. They even suggested letting her fall behind and catch up later. Later? No thanks. I want my kid to get an education, not lying around the house collecting lint. So I finally said you know what? That is fine. If I am driving my kid any where, itll be to her SCHOOL right around the corner. Now I am not sure how k12 runs in other states, but in NC? Its a mess. Oh and my daughter brick & Mortar school just called to let me know they just TODAY got the request for records for K12. I asked if we can just come back. They said sure, but now I have to re-enroll her lol to the school she has gone to since Kinder. Thanks K12. Ill be sure the next time I need a spike in blood pressure, stress, anxiety and headaches to try you guys again! Oh and any hope of my daughter every wanting to home school? Out the window. She now hates the idea because she was literally flying blind. Thanks again K12! And I will be telling EVERYONE I know about this experience. EVERY ONE. If I could give K12 zero stars, I would. I have been trying to contact them to document my situation and file an official complaint, and there is no place on the site to do this. I called customer service to find a place and they couldn't give me any information, either. Here is my long story: my family is moving across the country this week and have to stay in temporary housing at our destination for the next month. My daughter is in 5th grade, and I did not want to have to transition her from her current school to another for 30 days and then another after we find a permanent residence. We have moved 6 times in the past 6 years due to corporate relocations and I just didn't want her to have to transition again or lose any class time during our trip across the country. I called K12 to see if we could enroll her in their virtual school. I e-mailed K12 on 9/27/12 for information and was contacted on 9/28/12 by an Enrollment Counselor. I outlined our situation and he assured me that she could be enrolled and there would be no cost to us, AND she would be covered as we drove cross country. He told me I'd have to rush the enrollment documents to him, which I did, and my daughter was approved to be enrolled in CAVA (California virtual academy). My first issue was that despite my telling Enrollment Counselor that we did not need a computer and printer, I received both 3 days later. I had to hunt down the telephone numbers for an RMA, as they would be additional items that I'd have to pack and take with me across the country. Frustrating as I told him they weren't needed as we have a laptop and printer she could use. The Redemptech people initially refused to schedule a pickup for the items on my behalf, so I had to take time out of packing to get the items scheduled and picked up. Federal Express picked them up on 10/12/12 and on 10/15/12, Redemptech was already contacting me to make sure the equipment was returned or they would schedule a pickup. Did I mention that I have 2 weeks to get the home packed and moved across the country? We received 3 boxes of textbooks, etc. as well, which I set aside as she is going to be in regular school until we leave on Friday 10/20/12, and I figured she could do the coursework during the drive and check in on the computer at night. Yesterday, her online teacher called to talk to me about the lesson plans. I told her about the move, and she told me that my daughter could not be enrolled in CAVA if we were no longer going to be California residents. I was shocked as that is NOT what the enrollment counselor told me and if I had known this, I never would have enrolled my daughter. She confirmed with her supervisor and told me she was going to document this on her end. I called K12 customer service to get labels to return the books this week. The first person I spoke with, Debra, told me that the teacher was wrong and that my daughter was enrolled in "International Academy", and not CAVA, which is what military families use when they move. She told me that I needed to call another 800 number and speak to them about fixing this. Debra went to a great deal of trouble to ensure the information she was giving me was correct, and verified with her supervisor that Daughter was enrolled in International Academy. I called International Academy and spoke with Andrea, who could not care less about my plight. Andrea told me that we were NOT enrolled in International Academy and that Debra was wrong. If we wanted to enroll my daughter, now, it would cost us $5,000.00. I told Andrea I needed to speak to someone now to get a return label for the books. I was completely ticked off as I just spent 2 hours on the phone with the company trying to fix this, and that is lost packing and loading time. She transferred me back to customer service, where I got an order for labels supposedly being e-mailed to me. Haven't received them yet. And apparently when I receive them I have to drop boxes off at a UPS facility to return them. Great, more time wasted while I try and finish packing. While I was on the phone with customer service, I asked her if there was a place I could either call, write or e-mail with a complaint. She was searching for 5 minutes and couldn't find anything. I told her never mind, I would figure something out on my own. I realize online education is a unique option but I am furious at how my time was wasted and how I was misled initially by the enrollment counselor. Why would he tell me she could be enrolled here in California if it was illegal, as her teacher told me? He wasted my time, the teacher's time, and his company's money by processing our application and shipping us items. I thought I had my daughter's schooling handled in a way where she would not miss any time and not be subject to having to try to acclimate to an additional temporary school only to be yanked out of it again. I called freshman year to see if my school would accept an online class from k12. I didn't know an answer to a question and the "man" I was talking to on the phone with sighed loudly then hung up. That was the last time I ever called them. read more

My daughter and I really enjoyed k12 TXVA. She completed all of her daily assignments. I dedicated all of my time to make sure she was learning. She mastered all of her assessments and check points. She was an A student before starting K12. We were involved in a car accident recently And I wasn't going to be able to dedicate 100% to her for sometime. We decided the best thing to do would be to withdraw from k12, for the remainder of the school year and return for the following year. I was shocked when I received her transcripts. Her grades ranged from 80-68. I honestly don't understand how they figured these ridiculously low grades. We worked to hard and spent countless hours studying. It felt like a slap in our face. I will NOT be returning to K12. I'm so thankful we got out before We wasted more time. read more

We decided to home school our son, and decided on using the K-12 program. We are just getting started but signing him up has been very smooth and easy. Everything was explained during the process and every time we had questions we received answers quickly and accurately. If the service they have provided up to this point continues, I know our son will receive a great education. Thank you to the entire staff. read more

Zero stars should be an option. Horrible customer service. Unable to resolve any issues what so ever, but they will tell you that the problem is fixed when it is not. Literally can not re-enroll because of a computer glitch on their end that NO ONE can fix. I gave them over a month to resolve the issue and they have not come even close. No alternative to enroll, just their broken website. Don't waste your time with this backwards school, it's not worth it. read more
