The most awful place with staff who either misinform or just don't care. Having booked tickets on line, we arrived to see a large corporate party taking place. We were told to come back the next day at 12 and after a 45 minute drive, found another corporate party. I hosted a birthday party at the space. I had major issues with booking the space and then the follow up afterwards when I tried to reach out to discuss issues with the event. It was incredibly hard to get a hold of the corporate office to make the booking in the first place. Then I was told that my 20+ guests could order food on the day of the event. I even received a food credit in order to cover the food orders. On the day of the event, my guests placed their orders relatively early in the event. The food did not arrive until the end of the event. Most of the food was cold if it did arrive. Some people never got their food. By the time the food came, most people weren't hungry anymore. A lot of the food was left uneaten. Turns out that they only have one oven at the event space, which was never mentioned to me. They charged me the full amount for the food that my guests ordered (even though most guests left with empty stomachs). If I had known of this before the event, I would have had food catered so that my guests would have been fed appropriately. When I tried to address this issue with the local management, they told me I need to speak to the corporate office. I am still waiting on corporate to get back to me. If you are thinking about booking a party here, I would think twice. read more

We went the other day with my husband and a friend who came to visit us from outside the country. We tough that we will have fun over there, but since we went inside me, my husband and his service dog and our friend, some guy from the desk walk to us and told us that we have to leave because they didn't accept animals inside, I told him that he was a service dog who was wearing his vest and I show him the carné and everything to confirm it, but he still told us they didn't accept service animals either, I was confused because as I know you can go any place with you service dog even banks, courts, etc buuut this "special place" don't. I don't remember his name because I was so mad with him (he's black and maybe 25-30 years) then I went outside because all the places usually put some information about service dogs on the door, in fact they had that so I took a picture and went back inside to show him that and he told me that was old and he didn't let us stay. THE WORST PLACE EVER, they don't respect even people with disabilities, that's disgusting, it's to never go back again and I'm going to report that place for not being with the laws. Had dad's birthday party here and it was FUN. Unless you're on the last-minute, spontaneous tip, I'd recommend assembling a group for 1) group pricing, 2) so you can schedule your race time, and 3) so you'll be on the track with your friends. I believe packages are from 8 (or 10?) racers up to 12 drivers max on the track at one time. We did the Grand Prix package, which is a little pricier, but included: practice laps to familiarize ourselves with car and track, a qualifying race, then The Race. Top 3 got trophies and pics on the winner's stand. When you go, you have to sign a waiver and all that at a kiosk. When it's your turn, you're called over to put on head socks & helmets and they'll give you your car number. You'll do your thing, then exit to allow another group to do their thing: this is when you potty break or whatever. When you're called back, get a new sock/helmet and new car number. These electric cars can really get going! Another cool thing about electric is safety: if someone gets in trouble, they can slow or stop all the cars to clear a hazard. Every driver gets a stats printout for each 'race', showing your personal stats and overall rankings. They apparently also offer clinics where a 'pro' will teach you some of the finer points of racing beyond just Go Really Fast And Turn! We had a blast and would definitely do it again! read more

Cool carts, ready and available drinks, the food was ready after 30 minutes of ordering. Depending on how busy it was you'd have to way 30 minutes to an hour and some. Definitely expensive. There kinda seems to be issues with customer relations. The food smelled good. Only gripe is hope and pray your car isn't at the back of the line. Those are the slow ones. Kept getting cars at the end is the line, while on 3 separate races and I got completely spanked each time. My friends and I were waiting the first time for 57 minutes (In the go-cart with a uncomfortable helmet that was half of our weight. The car was so cramped that our legs started aching. We could barely walk.). The second time, we waited for 30 minutes before my aunt took us away. This is a disgrace for what was such a good go karting place. You have lost our respect and business. I have never been to a place like this before with fast electric gokarts. I didn't realize how fast the carts were until being in it firsthand and I was a bit scared at first but once you got the hang of it it was an amazing experience! Trying to beat your time consecutively and others for best lap as well as getting the arm workout of your life trying to turn the steering wheel! I booked my son's Birthday party at K1-Speed, Houston. Due to unavoidable reasons I was booking it last minute. From the beginning the process was difficult. Courtney was the agent who handled my web request. I didn't receive a confirmation in a timely manner, which led me to scrambling for plan B. Voicemail and emails went unanswered. Finally, spoke to Charlene in Houston who arranged to confirm booking. The only reason I persevered was because my son had his heart set on this place. On the day, the pizza was served but the kid's drink order was not taken. My husband walked all the way across the track to their dining area and brought drinks. We didn't get forks/spoons to serve the cake. Again, my husband had to make the request. We paid $75 per kid and deserved a better service. Will not go back and will be telling all my friends. read more

My wife and I went out and put on the helmets and settled a racing grudge match that had become legendary after it had started a few hours earlier in the day through numerous work emails. I promised I was going to, and I quote "smoke you like a ham." My wife was going to let her driving do the trash talking. There was talk about putting each other into walls. It was ugly. TIME TO SHAKE AND BAKE! Pro's Big track. Larger section to go flat out Cars are more comfortable for the larger fella's Simple to operate cars. Several good areas to pass Cars are pretty quick ..... CON ...but the track marshals can control your car speed from remote control. This means that teenager "track marshals" can slow the karts down if he wants - I think he did in our race - so when you step on the "gas" you can't always anticipate what you're going to get when it comes to acceleration. No track marshal in a very dangerous corner - one guy stayed stuck in a wall with no yellow flag for two laps - you couldn't see him over the tires. (I was told they usually have a track marshal there but didn't that night (it appeared they had enough staff to man that location but weren't). The very next race someone missed the same turn and went straight into the wall and the teenagers ran like hell to free the car). Track is uneven. The walls bulge out in areas because the walls are flexible. These shapes can change pretty dramatically due to brushes or impacts against the wall so your lines will change mid race. There will be a wall where there wasn't one before. They start the race as the karts start a 180 degree turn the smallest part of the track - so the people at the front of the pack are at a disadvantage - as the people in the back can go for the holeshot and mostly end up ramming the cars up front. There were some pretty good impacts in that area. In some area's the track walls seem pretty high, so you have trouble seeing what's laying ahead of you in the Kart. No handouts at the end of the race with your race results - I guess you can see your scores on line but I figure what do I care? No adult supervision of the staff from what I could tell. Was going to go back and get another race but there wasn't anyone behind the counter. What the hell is the music they're playing? Have they talked to their target audience? Do not let the girls behind the counter pick the music in the store - ask your customers. It's racing, not a house party. Races are not put together by skill level so you can have some very slow people on the track with you. These moving obstacles can make your life very interesting when you can't see them around the next corner. OK the part that sucks...... Races are 14 laps - 14 laps for the winner. So if you have one guy flying around the track 23 second lap - your race is over in about 7 minutes. To Girlfriend or not to Girlfriend.... Is this a Date night thing. In a word, no. Unless your wife is wanna be Danica Patrick. This is nothing like those mini-golf go-karts - There's a lot of macho racing going on - you tell 20 - 30 year old's there's a first place and they'll run down their grandmother with a guide dog in a crosswalk to win it all. In summary. If you ain't first, you're last. You know, you know what I'm talking about? That there is trademarked, not to be used without written permission of Ricky Bobby, Inc. It's fun. But it needs work. Will we try it again. Maybe. There are better places to race. Is it date friendly? Eh. Kinda. Fix the music. So, how did the grudge match go with the wife? I like this place, and enjoy the upkeep on the track and the karts..... But BEG THEM TO PLEASE IMPLEMENT a class of racers. Something like: Over xx lap: Group C novice. xx to xx lap: Group B intermediate Under xx lap: Group A advanced. Or just a qualifying session to see if you run fast enough to be in the advanced sessions....... By doing this, you can actually TRY to cut a clean lap. It's the most frustrating thing when you are trying to get a fast clean lap in, and some road block is taking a Sunday drive in the middle of the track. When I go, I hate wasting my money if I can't get a clean session in. Leave the novice and "doing it for fun" people in one group, and the people who actually are trying to be competitive in another group. read more

Expensive, some false advertising. I went there scouting for a location for a corporate event. I signed up my two kids for two turns ($96 for this, by the way). I noticed that they were advertising a free turn on your birthday, and it happened to be my birthday. So I asked for a free turn, and they said no. I had to buy a membership (ok, that's understandable), but even with a paid membership, they wouldn't give the free turn. I had to buy a packages of races, then and only then they would add one extra. The person in charge told me that the manager explicitly told them that this is the policy even though that's not what the advertisement said. And there was no manager on site I could speak with and nobody they could call. Looking at a corporate event $2,500 or $3,000 if I recall correctly. They have very particular rules that aren't at all flexible. At the prices they charge, you would think they would have better customer service than united airlines. I guess that's why the place only had a few people there even on a Saturday afternoon. read more

This place is fun on wheels literally, Carting is a blast anywhere but the electric carts are so much fun with the instant torque and speed. We have been several times during company events so the review is for private races only. I can't attest to racing with the general public. We arrived at K1 in the mid afternoon, there was no one there except for the workers. We were greeted promptly by the receptionist, she was helpful and friendly, got us (4) set up on their automated sign up/in system. We raced 3 races all were heavily regulated by the track "officials". The track "officials" are very subjective when it comes to pulling over for faster drivers. This makes it very hard to get a fair shake at making a decent time. I was pulled over more than 4 times to allow "faster" drivers to pass yet when I came up on the "slower" drivers the very same "official" failed to pull over the other cars. If you are going to have a rule then it should be enforced based on distance vs. subjective judgement. read more

I'll make it sweet and simple. :) Our first time, we were told that we had a 1.5-2hr wait. After waiting about 3 hours, we noticed that groups who were after our group went on their rounds. We went to the counter and turns out the lady mess something up and had to put us on for another 2 hour wait. The manager offered us 2 more free races so we decided to leave and come back another weekend. Our second and most likely last visit, our wait was 1.5 hours at most. We've waited and whatnot and the guys who guided throughout the race were very nice. So service was a-okay. Now, the run overall didn't feel like 12 laps. It felt like 8 in my opinion. Also, the cars don't even go "fast". I would say if you want to enjoy your race, don't crash or spin out. That would ruin your fun and shorten laps for everyone. read more

This was a cool hang out place. Had a little arcade area and where you can buy food. Both were good. The prices were kinda high for just a few times you go on the track. We ended up getting the membership because it was cheaper and it came with a T-shirt and a face protection cloth. Other than that once time I've never been and couldn't see myself going back unless it was for a date night or going with some friends. They do have a team that races professionally on the karts. That seemed cool just not an aspect I would get into. They also give you slips of your own personal race and what place you come in out of the other drivers. read more

Had a blast here with my family when we went to celebrate my Dad's birthday. It was around Christmas so we had to wait quite a bit but it's fun to watch too. The karts really get going; fun for me but terrifying for my little neice. (They run separate races for kiddos, but its only a height requirement - so in this case there was a mini 13 year old out there going nuts). Easy to get the hang of; only wish I could have done more races. After a race you get a piece of paper with your ranking, best time, etc. Again, fun if you are competitive, otherwise, if you are a little kid this could make you feel terrible, so in that case, pass on it. Tips: Get there when they open. If you are new you must go to the computers and register BEFORE you go to the register to book/pay (there is no signage to this effect) Try and book a couple races close together (and if you want to be on the track together, ask) Get a bunch of people to go (see below) Get the package of 3 to save money (if you don't use them all you can come back, but note they are not transferable. I am all over Alex N. suggestion because once I got the hang of it I started to get hung up on people who weren't doing so well. Sometimes a bump or jam is inevitable, but it would help if there were less people on the track or they segmented it out a bit. My brother said ideally you get enough people to go then you can book track time so there isn't anyone else out there. read more

If I could have given it less stars I would have! Yes it's expensive ($75 for five races) but that is NOT the reason for one star. From the time we entered and went to counter to pay till I asked for a refund the staff was HORRIBLE, RUDE, DELINQUENT, an all around rotten group of young employees. I did ask to speak to the Manager 4 times and he did finally come to speak to me. The manager was pleasant and apologized but the damage was done. You know it's a rotten experience when your twelve year old son wants to leave. Tracks: The tracks are not safe and during my sons time on track there was no staff to warn young drivers when an accident had occurred (but there was during the adult track time). An accident occurred and since the young drivers could not see and had not been given a caution flag, it created a four cart pile up with one child leaving his cart BLEEDING!!!! It's indoors, and pretty big i think considering I've never been to a place like this before. If you check in on yelp you can get $5 off just show your check in to the person checking you out. We came on a Friday night around 7/8pm. They had a lot of cars that were not working, we were told it was because they were not charged. :/ After we paid we had to wait at least 30 min for our race to start. Which wasn't too bad. One race is 14 laps approx 10 min. They have two types of races: junior & adult. I did not race because i chickened out last min. My nerves got the best of me. Maybe next time i will though. read more

i was initially gonna give a very low rating, cause my first visit was kinda horrible. They messed up our runs, putting us in the junior race, and never really told us about it and kept skipping us. we finally approached them and the said they screwed up. they did give us a free race. They couldnt bump us up and still made us wait 25mins after waiting for an hour. Now if you are a quick driver, its best to get a good group of folks to run (10-12 per run group). Our first run was horrible, people were 10 seconds slower than us on a 22 second course. Our second race was a whole lot better, the group was all within 2 seconds. we went back again this past friday, got there at 11.30am and stayed till 2.30pm, we managed to get 6 races in. 4 were good and 2 were stuck in 'traffic'. i do hope they maintain this place well...the karts and track does take alot of abuse...and since they keep changing things up and have a monthly best lap times...i'll be back every month. read more

We came on a Saturday night, and ended up having to wait over an hour to race. There was a birthday party going on. The wait wasn't bad, but the cost is another issue. They force you to buy a new license to race here annually, which is quite frankly a ripoff. They also force you to make an account with them on the computers next to the register, before you pay for the day. We debated leaving K1 when we realized how expensive it would be (~$30). But we ended up staying because we made such a long drive over here. They will call your name over the speaker when it's your turn. They then give you a quick training session with the ~15 other racers. The training session was brief and mainly went over the different flags that signal the drivers if they are being aggressive, too slow, etc.. Then you put on your head sock and helmet and start the race. The karts really go pretty fast. You get 14 laps. And there a couple of turns that can be tough if you are an inexperienced. This place appeals to the video gamer in all of us. As a female who did not grow up playing racing video games, I was slow. Your names in ranking order will show up on the screen behind the track as you race. I thought I was going fast, but I ended up in second to last place. I also was shown the flag reserved for slow racers (it signals you to let other people pass) more often than I care to admit. It was still pretty fun trying to beat my friends. I want to return to redeem myself, but I don't think I am willing to scarf over another $30 for it. read more

K1 indoor go kart track utilizes electric motors instead of the gasoline powered ones you commonly see. The torque and acceleration are both noticeable different and makes the karts more fun to drive. The facility also did not have the usual exhaust and gasoline smell. The track was good, a few different turns that take time to really master & make for an exciting ride. We didn't try the food when we were there but it seemed like the have the usual "bar food" style. Employees were friendly and nice and made sure to explain everything so you're comfortable racing around d the track. K1 even offers leagues and challenges so you can build and work on your skills. We're discussing going up there routinely, it was that much fun. read more

The facility and equipment are excellent. The price is high, for the time you get on the track, but as mentioned nice facility. A better value would be $25 - 1 race package. My major complaint is the description of the Kart controls and operation, for first time drivers. The this information was not given in a manner, for a 12 year old to comprehend; it was confusing and not clear. We will call him the "instructor", he spoke to fast as if he was on timed presentation. A better way to explain the controls and operation is have a video of these details on their website. One my 12 year old grandsons was intimated by the Instructor, he did not want to ride. Before returning, we will do our own research on Kart controls and operation. read more

I had a ton of competitive, friendly fun with a buddy of mine here and will be back. These karts are electric - I've tried karts powered by natural gas before and they seemed to have a better reaction time. By and large though, the karts still hit 45mph so they were still extermely entertaining. My only request is that they do a better job of alerting drivers whenever they should let the driver behind them pass or staggering the racers. I felt like I was stuck behind a driver for a few laps, which took away from the experience a little bit. read more

I walked in this place one weekend afternoon to see if a group of friends and I would be able to have a nice and fun go-kart experience. Instead, what we ended up experiencing is a group of high school girls at the front desk chatting away with each other. We patiently stood there (it wasn't busy) and watched these girls carry on a conversation with themselves. They didn't have a care in the world. It wasn't until the manager had to come and tell them "Hey, we have customers here," did they finally get back to work. We asked how much it would cost to go-kart and discovered that you have to buy a membership before you can even go-kart once. My one big problem is that one of the parents of a driver stood outside of the track and kept screaming "last lap! Punch it!" On every lap of every race. Relying to Jessica T's review: I'm Tom Richardson; the driver who gets the 'special' treatment. I thought I'd add my two cents to balance things out. First of all, I understand your concerns. I'm not going to address the white privilege thing because I'm a middle aged white guy and nobody wants to hear that. I know we live in a world where people face discrimination every day so while I've never had the misfortune of feeling your pain, I feel your pain. I'd love to think that we'll eradicate racism (and all the other isms) during my lifetime but I'd be surprised. I'd feel remiss, though, if I didn't stop to point out that the staff at K1 is pretty diverse and any special treatment I might get isn't because I'm white. A year ago I was a pretty average racer. I decided I wanted to get a lot better so I adopted K1 as my new hobby. You can look up my progress on their website (I'm the Tom Richardson from Bellaire). I put in a lot of time there over the last year. I was their single biggest individual customer at the Houston track (top ten in the country) so if it seems like the employees are treating me differently than the general public, it might be because they all know me. Regarding your other concerns; I generally get to ride in every race because I'm racing solo and I ask. It's hard to make room for groups in every race but there are a lot of solo drivers that get to do the same thing. Also, the employees usually put me in one of the front karts because I'm a fast driver. They don't "let me" go fast. I'm genuinely VERY fast. I won last years racing league and there's only one person who's ever gone faster on that track than me (not a white guy). I also race my car on a racetrack once every couple of months and I own a race kart that I've been campaigning lately in a local racing league. I rarely crash into anyone, I make a point of it. It's an exercise in control now that I don't have much left to learn about the racing line. But when I do crash into someone (and it's my fault) I make a genuine effort to apologize afterwards. I'm a pretty laid back guy and I try to make sure im not ruining anyone's night. Several guys helped me out when I was still learning to go fast so I never hesitate to return the favor by showing new racers the real race line if they ask. Jessica, I invite you to stop me if you're ever up there again and I'll teach you to go faster. Also, in general, if they slow your kart down, it's because they have reason to believe you can't safely drive the kart at the regular speed. Either you're crashing a lot or spinning in corners or taking a dangerous line through the corners. A lot of people have asked me if they give me the 'fast karts'. They don't. If you look at my records you'll see I've driven every kart they have...several times...and I'm faster on all of them than the vast majority of the public...because I put in a lot of work. TLDR; K1 Speed has a friendly, helpful staff that goes out of their way to meet their customer's needs. They cater to all different levels of drivers. If you want to learn to go fast...K1 is a cheap, effective place to develop good racing habits. If you want to have a good time, it's a great place to do that, too. read more

Great place for friends and family to get together and have a swell time. Although wait times can easily exceed an hour, the wait is worth it. Very happy employees, they all seem to be enjoying their jobs and that reflects on how they treat us as customers. They are pretty lenient on the rules, but when people get out of hand and risk damaging the carts or hurting others they definitely take the correct actions. They also do parties and some corporate events, so there's plenty for everyone to do. If there was something i could recommend, I would recommend they serve hot foods because when people are waiting the 60+ minutes and for the others that go to watch food would be a great thing to have.They only serve snacks currently. read more

Best indoor track I have been to in Texas. This place can be very competitive at times, so If you're a first timer I would recommend going early during the week till you get the hang of it.
