K1 speed was an okay track. I was dissapointed with the karts, because they didnt go as fast as i thought they would. If i were to go back to k1, the reason would be because i am going with a group of friends otherwise i wouldnt go. I recommend this place to kids ages 9-13 read more

I love this place, staff is always friendly. Why the three stars ?....well, I have raced here very often ,despite all the newcomers,I still manage to have a good race. Then I noticed, my lap times,no matter what.were getting slower. Turns out whoever controls the speed, does not give the racers 100% of the car's acceleration. I understand it's to control accidents and keep it safe, it just really annoys me, cause I notice it right away and really takes the fun out of it. read more

Never been go karting before so not sure what to compare it to, but this place was super fun! I was a little scared at first with safety and all, but they somehow control the cars so whenever anyone spins out of control or anything, all of the cars slow down until the problem is addressed so it feels really safe. read more

I have been going to K1 since August 2012 ever since I heard it on the radio. Ever since the the first visit the staff has always been phenomenal even during busy hours. Racing the indoor Karts versus the outdoor in my books is the best. I have completed 80 single races and two GP League races. Being able to meet other drivers around Houston and compete against time or position is a phenomenal experience. For what it would cost me to have my own Go Kart this place is VERY affordable. I would recommended this place to anyone or any business that wants to throw a party for its employees. read more

It is a lot of fun driving the karts. There is no fumes and it is air conditioned. But the karts like to skip around and they have under steer in a lot of places. It's still fun and fast for an arrive and drive coming from a kart racer myself. read more

First off, K1 is an incredible facility if you want quality karts, a great atmosphere, and amenities. But there are some serious flaws for which I can say I won't be returning for unless I have a private group. 1) Wait times - Expect to wait 1-3 hours to run. This is mainly due to the races taking forever to take place, which I will get to. 2) Incompetent Staff members - I have been a handful of times and I have had great experiences with Ryan and TJ. Everyone else there is on a power trip, and are assholes. When we went one time there was a group of people there were very wreck less, basically trying to crash each other and spin each other out. For those of us who want to race, this is not only annoying but very unsafe. THe manager on duty, as well as the 2 staff members were laughing and never threw a yellow flag. I don't want to sound racist, but they were all the same and I think you know where Im going with that. 3) Kart control - Each kart is controlled with one remote controller. This is a huge pain because if you have one person spin out, they will shut you all down. You aren't promised your laps because you might have one person ruin your entire race for you because they can't remember how to use the reverse button (YES IT HAS ONE PEOPLE!). There have been multiple times I have maybe had 4 good laps. For the money, that is unacceptable. They should have Yellow flashing lights on the turns like other kart places to warn you to slow down, not shut your kart down when your on the complete opposite side. 4) Some karts of faster than others - The lower the number the faster the kart I was told by a manager. Which really sucks when everyone your driving with is gunning for them. We have actually sat out races just to get a decent kart. Which is very frustrating when you pay 40$ for the evening. With that said, only go if you can get a group of 8 or more so they will let you drive together and by yourself. The biggest issue here is that they dont group racers by lap times. Being that this track doesn't have many areas to pass, you will spend more time dodging people, than racing. Oh and going 4 mph because they shut your kart down to help some idiot back up. You can beat the quality of the place, and the karts are very fast. I haven't been back in 2 months and I even have races on my account, it is that big of a hassle. I hope K1 takes feedback seriously because they are missing out on their dedicated racing enthusiast crowd not coming back due to the service. I now drive 30 extra minutes just to go to MSR to drive better karts, on an outdoor track, for less money. K1, listen to your customers! read more

This place was amazing! I went in today at 3:30 pm and there were racers but not a long wait at all. I went last Saturday and it was a 2 hours wait. The staff was busy fitting helmets and explaining the safety of the track which made my family feel better that they were taking the time to keep the less experienced drivers safe. Wish I had 5 hands, so I could give this place 5 thumbs down! First off we went there on a Saturday morning to beat the morning crowd and had to wait 3 hours because the girl could process the computer and it highly understaffed. The place is ran so backwards not even the manager knows whats going also we (a group of 12 adults) signed up 3 races for $50 but at the end of it, I wish I just sat out. They have a whole bunch of 16 year old kids that are doing whatever they feel like and has no manager out watching them or directing them. Another problem is that there isn't any organization at all they would have people sitting in karts for 30 mins waiting on the other group to finish, but they slow everything down because someone gets turned around or spins out backwards. Then they group adults parties with kids and expect that they can keep up.COME ON people these are 8 to 15 year old kids, they are going to mess up. Another thing is when someone body crashes I can understand the waiting to get things correct but this place keeps the time going, meaning you get cheated out of your time on the track. So I am paying for 7 laps but only getting 3 laps cause of the time running. I would type more but its not even worth the time or energy to do so. At this rate I doubt this place even stays open for long, for the time I waited I could have drove MSR Houston in Rosharon (msrhouston.com) and still beat the wait time. You might be able to pull this stuff off in California but here in Texas someone is going to tell you to your face!!! GO AT YOUR OWN RISK.... PLACE IS A RIP OFF!!!!! read more

This place could be great, but it's run by a bunch of total dipshits. If you go on a weekend, plan to wait several hours before your first race. I wouldn't have a problem with this if each race was run efficiently, but they're not. Mostly there's 10-15 mins of dead space between races because it's so inefficient. Teenagers standing around looking at each other while one guy tries to run the whole thing. We even witnessed the manager having a group huddle meeting with about 5 guys (which took 5mins) during an already 15 min delay. They should be getting the next bunch of carts out as soon as the last ones are parked. They would make so much more money, and have happy customers... Every customer in there is frustrated, and I saw people asking for their money back. We were about to give up and get a refund when they finally called our names. The carts are fast, and fun to drive, but I won't be back. read more

You should call in advance before heading up there as it can get pretty busy on a Friday or Saturday night. You have to wear a helmet and there are people that do this competitively all the time, so it is best to not be swerving all around driving slow like an idiot unless you want to get ran over by people that can drive. My first time at K1 i ran a 22.7 lap time and had a best time of the week, problem was the other 10 slow idiots running 35 second lap times getting in my way putting themselves in danger & slowing down my times. If you want a good lap time it is best to lay back before the race starts and try to get as big of a gap as possible. read more

We paid and then were told there was a 55 minute wait. They should have said this before, but we still waited. Then that time came and we went up and they said a birthday party came in late and it would be another 45 minutes. No one came to tell us this or anything. We are still waiting to go 2 hours after we checked in.... paid $50 for two kids to do a five minute race. I will never come here again. read more

It was very enjoyable to do, but in one race my cell phone fell out of my pocket onto the track in one of the very first laps. I realized this and when I told one of the officials working the race as a drove by him, all that he said was "should have put it in the clear bin." So I continued to race the next 12 laps seeing my phone become more and more destroyed every lap. I find this as an absolute OUTRAGE considering they never even MENTIONED to me the fact that there was a bin to place my belongings in. I asked the people that I came with and they also said they didn't hear a word about this. The people stopped or slowed the other karts at least 3 times every race if somebody was even bumped, but they couldn't take the time to pick my undamaged phone up off of the ground at any point in the race. The karts themselves were enjoyable but I will never be coming back here. If you come, know that there are bins to place your belongings in because the people working there won't tell you. read more

My son was bullied and injured on the racetrack by a much older and aggressive child. The employees warn the kids that there is no bumping and if there's any bad play you will get removed from the race. My son was hit twice on purpose by this other kid on 2 different races. The 4th time he hit him, he hurt my son's shoulder. The other child was not removed from the race but my son left because he was hurt. When I talked to the manager, he said, "There is nothing I can do. Unfortunately, it's a part of racing." A pit employee brought my son an ice pack. The manager is a worthless human being. I told him he should have pulled him from the race, like they warned the kids. He told me he couldn't do it. He likes to give the kids opportunities to correct their own behavior. How many times does a child have to exhibit the same violent behavior before he gets pulled out? 4 times to my child and I don't know how many times to the other children. On the way out, this same manager was reprimanding some kids for bringing in outside drinks. Apparently that's a rule he can enforce. My daughter is a huge Danica Patrick fan. When the K1 Speed Houston location opened, we were one of the first customers. When my daughter began discussing her 8th birthday party plans, she decided that K1 Speed would be a wonderful place for her party. Our initial quote for a party was over $1700 for 2 races for juniors and 2 races for teen/adults, plus the party room rental fee. In addition, either a $50 catering fee would be added to bring food in or you can purchase catering at approximately 2 times the normal pricing. The teens/adults raced once. Several riders had minor collisions, but it was no big deal...everyone enjoyed it. When the junior riders began their turn, my daughter...the birthday girl had a minor collision into a side wall on the first lap...they kicked her out of the race. Of course she was crying and said "I didnt do anything wrong." This was her day...her event...and the lazy worker on the track used her as an example to the other kids that if they didnt stay in the center of the track...they would be kicked off too. The manager was a very young man. He obviously did not have the skills to manage the facility or customer needs, much less the employees. The young ladies at the register were very professional and helpful, but the guys on the track and manager were terrible. I would not recommend this facility for junior riders. There were not enough junior helmets for all riders. Some were forced to use oversized adult small helmets. Priced high for the Houston market and not kid friendly. read more

Came here just a few days ago, Jan 24, for my Girlfriends 21st birthday celebration. I surprised her by coming here to start off her day at around 2-3pm we showed up. I had the groupons purchased months ago. The place was pretty large, we signed up to get ready and had a 45min wait time according to them. It went by fast and before we knew it, both our names were called around 30 min later. The staff was extra friendly explaining the rules and such and using the gear needed. We got in place to go karting and it was extremely fun! The karts are by far some of the strongest I've rid in but I've rode on better tracks although this one was nice. I drifted a lot haha. The staff was also very attentive if something occured, stopping the race to make sure what happened is seen to. They really were friendly every step of the way and I even thanked one person for such good service. I highly recommend this place for the attentiveness, service, and those powerful karts haha. I have a lot of fun here. If you take a little time and get to know the track staff and management they'll always take care of you. Know what you're getting into before you come; just like any popular business there is often a wait due to crowds. Crowds mean people want to go there because they enjoy it, and if people like it there's probably something going right. The place is worth the wait, even if you often discover you're not as fast as you thought you were at the end. From the time I walked in the door till I finished my last race everyone was friendly and more than happy to help with anything I asked for. The staff is very helpful in making sure you are seated and have all of the gear on properly. All the races ran smoothly and 2 of the top racers even gave me pointers on how to go faster. My kids love coming to K1 Speedway we use to come a lot more last year but we have noticed some turnover in the employees and it's just not the same. My wife and I recently brought our kids to k1 about a week or two ago and saw that there was a whole new staff of ladies working the counter my wife noticed that she didn't see Samantha (one of the ladies we would always get help from) so my wife asked if she was working that day and was told she no longer works there. We couldn't believe it!! She was one of the sweetest girls we had ever met and when we use to come often she would always give us outstanding customer service. The service is not the same anymore we barely got any help, just saw the girls at the registers talking, and waited over an hour because we had got told a wrong waiting time. This why I have rated four stars... My kids love it here but not the same atmosphere it use to be hopefully the next time we stop by it's a better experience. This is a great place to bring the family for some fun! read more

i was hooked from the first race, i was just visiting houston for work and i have been there several times now, if i was to live in houston i would be a regular there, only thing i would recommend is placing regulars that have quick times on the track at the same time to keep from having the fast guys running all over the slower people. love the experience and can't wait to return. read more
