For a birthday party for 10 years olds this is not the place. The wait time to even get to a race is ridiculous, our party started at 4pm and we didn't get to race until 6pm. Then part of the party package that you pay a fortune for, they only give you 10 tokens for the arcade so making kids wait 2 hours to even race then that is just not worth it. While fun to drive not worth the price for a group of kids. This should be done better!!!! read more

The customer service was so bad that we ended up leaving and not even racing. I went here for a fun experience with my son ahead of his birthday. The girl checking us in barely looked at us and didn't once ask how many of us wanted to race - just assumed it was only my son and not me. Then she checked my son in under the name of a 44 year old woman listed on my account and seemed surprised when I told her that wasn't him (he's 9). When I clarified again that we both wanted to race together, she registered us both but failed to mention before we paid that he was under the height limit so we couldn't race together at all (it was our first time going here so I had no idea there were separate junior and adult races. I thought the height limit just applied to being able to drive). My only option would have been to watch him race completely alone, and then leave him fully unattended in the bar/check-in area while I also raced completely alone (there was no one else there, except 2 guys being drunk and rowdy in the bar). Anyone with any common sense would have realized that wasn't feasible when we checked in, and clarified this rule before we paid. We were given no instructions, directions, information or even any eye contact. When I asked for them just to refund my race because I didn't want to leave my son unattended, they refunded both of us without telling me, so I'd have had to check him back in and pay again which had already taken us nearly 20 minutes. The whole experience was so rude and bizarre, I felt like i was being pranked. The manager was called over at one point and was just as bad - didn't look at me, acknowledge me, or explain anything - just handed me a receipt for a refund I didn't ask for. The whole thing was an absolutely infuriating experience that was a complete waste of time. We ended up walking out and won't be going back. read more

Waited TWO hours for the first race for our 2 kids 7 & 10 after they said it would be an hour or less. They don't let kids race with "private parties" which causes a massive delay! Cars are not charged properly so after spending $130 I have a kid in tears over his undercharged car. Very disappointing experience. read more

Showed up at the Austin location. There were a couple people in front of us in line, including juniors and we were racing as adults and I know they alternate jr and adult races, so I expected we wouldn't race right away. Spending so much money, and making my son buy a new head sock even though he brought his from last time, I would expect the courtesy to be told that we would be waiting over an hour before our first race. Then the employees arguing with each other while my boys were getting in their karts. I told 1 employee that 2 kids in our group haven't been here before to make sure they got the orientation. They did not do the orientation. Then the first race was stopped 7-yes 7- times. Does that even count for a race when half of the participants only logged 8 laps? During the race, one of the employees went out on the track to tell one of the new kids to slow down and let everyone pass him. The orientation might have helped. Def not the place we will think of first next time we are looking for something to do and by no means worth the money. Very dissatisfied. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. Rude staff, long wait times, and just an overall frustrating experience. Took my kid there for his birthday and prepaid 150 bucks and was told to just show up and you can start racing. We got there and we were told an hour and a half wait, and then probably another hour and a half wait between races. Asked for a refund and was told we'd have to go through corporate. First time here, with the family! Definitely enjoyed our time on the track. The kids were able to drive their own go-cart at 45mph. The manager Michael was very attentive and followed up with us on our wait during our visit. I would avoid the weekends, we waited 2 hours after checking in. This was communicated with us on the front side. Worked out well, we were able to check in and go stroll the Domain. Everything is so close by. The attendant told us that there would be a one hour wait but when it was our turn to race, they let someone else go before us just 'cause the other group had paid for 5 races, i.e. more money. We just had one race but they told us to wait another 1 hr until the other group had finished their races. We asked to speak to the manager who initially said that they would give us a free race for the additional wait but later refused to accept that his staff had told us it would be an hr's wait not 2. The entire interaction was very unprofessional. They completely ruined our evening and didn't even apologize. Poor customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are in a group of less than 8 and cannot reserve a time slot. Plenty of better go karting options out there. read more

Midweek visit so not very busy. The staff is young and weren't very attentive to us upon entry. We kind of had to figure things out as they were more into their conversation about some musical artist/performer. Once the manager came and refocused the staff all was well. The young girl who gave us the introduction was informative and extremely pleasant. The other guys who gave us the driving tutorial were gentle with us as we were first timers. Very funny and made sure we were safe. The overall ride was cool! Worth the price and definitely worth the fun! We plan to come back with a few more friends and make it a party. read more

I am updating my review to 5 star. The manager responded to my 4 star review and was very professional and considerate. At the end of the day, it makes sense that a 5yr old shouldn't really drive any type of K1 cart. And, regarding the broken pool table that let out only 6 balls..well.., life happens. I'm absolutely horrified at what I witnessed at K1 today. While driving onto the track to start a race, a kid turned the wrong way down the track and mowed over a female employee (whom wasn't doing anything wrong, she was about to close the barrier they open to let the carts in). She was knocked off her feet and flipped through the air, then her legs were run over because the kid kept going. The cart seemed to have full power when it shouldn't have, usually they start off at a crawl until the track is clear. There seemed to have been malfunctions with carts moving at different speeds throughout the day... I saw the entire thing and understand accidents can happen. But here's where I'm upset. I personally notified the manager that an emergency happened and watched for over an hour while they continued races and nobody seemed to call 911. I would have called for paramedics the moment I saw the crash but I assumed management had a safety procedure in place for when accidents happened. Instead, K1 Austin continued running races while this poor girl screamed in agony right on the side of the starting line, 3 feet from where carts continued zipping by for at least an hour. The manager walked by, looked over and then proceeded to hide in the back while teenage employees tended to the severely injured employee with an ice pack. The boss did not help or seem to care at all. Thank goodness one of the teenage workers finally called for an ambulance as she continued screaming. After the paramedics arrived and removed the poor girl on a stretcher, the manager walks over to the employees who were assisting her and asked "who called 911". WTF?! It seemed like he only wanted to find out and reprimand the employee who did the right thing. The manager didn't seem interested in finding out what happened. That manager is absolute scum and should lose his job. This was the most greedy and disgusting thing I've seen for a long time and K1 corporate should know how awful the situation was. A bad situation was made exponentially worse due to the zero response provided. People were dumbfounded at the lack of response, over a dozen people saw what happened and watched in shock while races continued. The racing was fun, I guess, but I can't get over what I witnessed and this first hand and this level of negligence is criminal. read more

I loved the racing, really really fun. You can go extremely fast except you cannot drift and they did get mad at me for doing it even though there was no one around me. Staff was so nice and funny also take their job seriously just right and are super careful. There was an accident and they knew what to do so they were well trained. Food was horrible though, it took so long and was cold, we got the loaded nachos. Pretty nice place but I would eat before, fun and cheap games for wait time. read more

The wait took over three hours when they said one hour. They told me three races left when there were many, many more! And all of the workers did not care about you, they just wanted to talk to themselves. As well they were slowing my car down during the third race, all these people were passing me on the straights. Very disappointed in K1. A group of friends and I went to K1 on a Wednesday evening and it was the most unorganized experience. It's probably easier to create some bullets: * We tried calling days in advance to book a reservation and couldn't get anyone on the phone (after several tries). * All 10 of us paid different amounts for two races. Some paid $52, others paid $61+ with the same items on our receipts. * We waited 1.5 hours for our first race alone and another hour for our second. We were there from 7pm-10:30pm. They'd send some groups out with 2-3 people instead of filling up the track * The karts are electric and several died halfway through the race. We had to stop and wait for new karts everytime * They have speed restrictions on the karts if you've never been to K1 before (definitely not 45 mph). My group had a prize pool for the fastest lap time but it was inaccurate because they slowed some of our karts * Two people in my group bumped into each other and they were kicked off the track * We ordered chicken tenders that took over an hour to come to our table Overall, not a good experience. BUYER BEWARE!! Arrival: We booked for a party of 8, and once we arrived we could see that we paid $60 per person for 2 races while the it only costs $47 for two races if we went in person to reserve a race. The two staff members at the front desk clearly did not like each other showing passive aggressiveness and rolling their eyes at each other as we were trying to sign our waivers. A manager finally came out to explain that the person who booked our event over the phone reserved the entire track just for us and that was not reversible. We decided to race anyways because our deposit was not refundable and but it would've been nice if we had known over the phone. The equipment: We all received a new head sock before entering the track. All 8 of us reported different odors coming from the helmets we wore: some sweaty, some musty, and some smelled like grease. Clearly they are not sanitizing any of these helmets before the next guest uses them. The go karts were never wiped down between uses as other parties raced in the same karts after us. The race: We all start in the same position, but as the race went on, we can see that our throttle (controlled by the employee overseeing the track) was constantly changed in order to space everyone out. Two people of similar weight, yet different throttle speeds throughout the race. The only chance you have of passing up someone else is at the beginning before they slow you down. In between races, we asked why the throttle constantly changed, the employee overseeing the track said that she can control it all with the handheld device. read more

I have a child who races in junior league we pay all this money to race competitively but half of the junior karts are 2+ seconds off the other half, very disappointing for the money you have to pay and to not even be able to compete cause the karts aren't taken care of. I've been to k1 multiple times and recently it has just been bad experience after bad experience. Today 4 of us went in to celebrate a birthday. First we waited for one of the MANY staff members around to come to the front desk for about 20 minutes. A lady finally came over and was so rude I wanted to leave immediately, however we decided to just do one race due to the time line- as we were discussing the options the lady over heard us discussing leaving to go eat and coming back and told us we shouldn't leave because we wouldn't make it back in time... we had an hour and a half. So we decided to stay however after getting food there (not good don't recommend) only two of our group was called to go- so we went to see why that was especially since the two that were up paid after the other two. No one really knew what happened but instead of putting us together for the race coming up, we would have to wait another two+ hours to then go together due to the girl that checked us out putting us all in separate groups - and only billed one of us for a membership not even the race ... like wtf. The maneger said he wasn't sure why she put us all separate and all that but all the could do is have us wait till hours later to finally go all together. - it was a mess and a waste of time - we waited around to basically get pushed back and back till we decided we just wanted a refund and left - DONT RECOMMEND read more

Facility is pretty good however it seems to get less and less organized every time we go there. Last week we checked online and there was nothing posted of it being booked for an event however, when we got there at around 2pm they had a handwritten sign posted that they are booked from 12:30 to 3:30 so we left, had lunch and went back at 3:30. There was a very long line forming and after about 15 minutes of waiting and registering and then getting to the cashier to pay, we were told that they are booked until 7:30. This was a large disappointment, very expensive racing, the race controller has the power to slow every kart at will. Which he uses almost once a lap. They just toss you on the track in no competitive way or order. So the only thing to compete with is the clock. Which due to them slowing everyone's kart every lap for some random reason you can never seem to put in a complete lap. Multiple karts shake violently and have parts dragging the ground even at low speeds. This is NOT for somebody to enjoy competitive fast karts and enjoy racing with friends. This is for children 12 and below to waste their parents money. Full stop. read more

I've only been to two K1 Speed locations. The one in Arlington and Austin. The Austin location is by far my favorite! The facility is huge and they have pool tables, fooseball, and a dining area for when you wait for your races. I recommend doing at least 3 races. The course is great and you get to do 15 laps. Thing to remember is that you are racing for TIME each lap compared to the other racers. My only negative about this place is their bathrooms are disgusting. read more

How to start. K1 is an amazing way to spend the day. The carts are fast and relatively easy to drive. The only problem is the state of the karts. My first race was perfect had good grip. And brakes the second one is when all hell broke lose. Lap one was ok but on lap my grip just fell apart on the straights I was shaking and sliding on the corner. On lap 5ba car RAN OUT OF BATTERY in front of me caused a 3 car wreck and I got a nasty gash on my leg and a scar to remember it by. I finish 4th of 10 so not a bad result but the grip was just miserable. read more

We have been to K1 many times over the last 6+ years. The state the Austin location is in right now is atrocious. I was instructed to leave this review since all the employees were either new or had no way to resolve the problem since it was Sunday and so a regional manager could review the problems. We were improperly charged for an 11 person Grand Prix for a bday party. Hopefully that gets fixed asap. The gratuity was also double charged. We paid for the 3 race Grand Prix and sadly each race was handled poorly by the track employees. I can explain in detail further on this if need be. 7 of the 11 racers experienced busted cars in one way or another (literally broken, High pitched grinding from maybe brakes or something dragging on the ground, shaking karts that were slow, not charged all the way, one caught fire, etc.) A customer service employee named Fluffy who seemed to be the only one even acknowledging our parties existence mentioned the day before there were 13 parties the day before so that may explain why the karts were in such horrific near un-race-able conditions. Every employee said go talk to "insert name here". We were sent on a wild goose chase and made to wait an hour after the party with absolutely no resolution. Don't even get me started on the "corporate sales team" you can call to coordinate. They are non existent impossible to get ahold of. Highway robbery for $1300. I really didn't want to leave a review but they said this is the only way they can rectify the situation. Hope they do and that nobody else has to go through what seemed like a joke it was so bad. read more

First time go karting and I ended up having a blast at K1. My colleagues and I came on a Tuesday night and didn't have to wait too long to get into our first race. The karts were easy to drive and it only took me a few laps to realize that it was easier to make the sharp turns than I previously thought, which really helped me to cut down on my time for each lap. I would recommend everyone doing at least 2 races, especially if you are a newbie. The first race helps get you acclimated to being behind the wheel and the second race is when it's on. On the flip side, because the track itself doesn't really change, I think that after a couple of visits, the experience will probably lose some of its allure, but for a beginner, K1 is a great way to spend the night. read more

Less crowded on weekdays - super crowded on the weekends. Electric go-karts that they can centrally manage. Current track runs clockwise, right left, left, right (well it's a U), right, "right, left" (a U), "left, right" (a U), right, right, FINISH!! Be smooth, brake straight, accelerate away. Put your friends in the wall (but not intentionally or you'll get black flagged). They've got different packages and they are all roughly about 11 laps each race. Flags - Green - go Yellow - caution Red - stop Black - you're outta there - no refunds Blue - let people pass b/c you're driving like a granny. My one weird incident was that we had a shutdown in the middle of a race, but when we went back live - my car was 2 seconds slower than before, but it seemed like everyone else had the get up and go. Data from the after race report supported that. The fix was in! Zip zip - let's go get racy. read more

Took us over an hour to get registered and signed in. The sole employee was inept and rude, necessitating me going through the line three times to get three boys ready to race. Have gone to K1 on and off for many years. Some personal, some with employees as a reward for hard work at the office. I've always had a good experience and the staff was always helpful and kind. First time back since the pandemic, staff was kind and helpful, wait times on a weekend were minimal. My low review is the facility and karts. I know rent is likely going up, and karts are expensive, but the facility seems a little more run down than two years ago and the karts... the karts are hit or miss. Some of the seatbelts are twisted and hard to use as they no longer have covers on the mechanisms and the belts are twisted in them making it difficult to really tighten your belt (fix this, it's important). One race you get a great kart, the next you get a Junker with out of balance wheels and obviously poor performance. These would be easy things to fix and maintain, ensuring everyone had an even chance at being competitive. I know it's not a "race" perse and some folks are there to just cruise around the track, but when one race you place well, in the top four and the next you are dead last, it's apparent there are vehicle maintenance issues. This is frustrating if you are actually trying to have fun and "hang" with the front of the pack. For the cost of a little investment ensuring karts perform in a similar fashion to one another customer retention would be ensured. NOt everyone is there to put around the track. As it stands now we won't be back unless things change. Sad b/c the concept is solid, karting is fun, and the location is great. I feel for the staff as they were kind and very helpful. Had my son's 9th birthday and could not be happier with the venue! Justin and his Austin K1 staff were so professional and had the 20 boys well behaved and safe the whole time. The kids LOVED the arcade when they weren't racing and parents joined in on the fun for a race which was a huge hit! The party room was huge and very clean. We had pizza for guests and lots of adults even came back for seconds remarking on how good it was. Again super happy from start to finish and would definitely recommend!! read more
