The hostess talks to me into the buttered ribeye steak so tender that it would melt in your mouth. I also chose to get beef lettuce wraps for an appetizer. The steak was far from melting your mouth tender. I would have thought it was a sirloin, and it was in my opinion a bit tough. I did order it medium, and it did have pink in it, but it was still a bit tough to chew. The lettuce wraps were absolutely delicious and I will definitely stop in to have those again and if I wasn't trying to watch carbs, there was plenty on the menu that I could choose from as well that looked absolutely delicious.

So you can bring a larger group or just be a party of one...like me. The menu was lovely, and for me I was craving the ahi tuna, and a bowl of ramen. As luck would have it, both were on the menu. The tuna was cooked beautifully with a perfect sear and a lovely black and white sesame crust. Plating was beautiful, and fun. And the flavor profile was amazing. Highly recommend this place if you're in Macon.

My family and I decided to order to go this time and we were so displeased. The egg fu yung was full of more onions than egg, the shrimp fried rice had WAY less shrimp than previous ones and the combination platter was disappointing. Due to improper packaging, the prawns and egg rolls were soggy from the teriyaki sauce that was for another appetizer. I forgot the name of the young man I spoke with when I called (2/21 @ 6:06pm), but he was rude and condescending. I no longer live in Macon but my family and friends do. I have and will continue to share this negative experience with them. Getting bad food is understandable, maybe it was an off day. I did not call to request a refund, I was merely calling to express concern. Being rude and nonchalant is not the way to retain customers. Do better Mandarin Garden!

I recall it being a lovely experience, nice ambiance, great presentation and the food was decent but at the time not memorable. Fast forward to years later I now live in middle Georgia and decided to give Thai Pepper another try. It was a Thursday evening and I ordered to go. Their website was user-friendly and the offerings were similar to all the other Thai restaurants in the area except for one dish. My favorite dish to order is Broccoli in brown sauce. I added tofu to my dish and asked for it to be extra spicy. I also ordered spring rolls. The staff was amicable, when I picked up my order. The ambiance is quaint but still very inviting. My meal was delicious, nice and spicy, the tofu was cooked perfectly and the veggies all tasted fresh. My spring rolls were crispy and very tasty. This dish was a winner so glad I finally found a Thai restaurant that offers it. This is a perfect restaurant to bring a date or meet up for lunch.

Poor Calvin's looked so interesting and when I sent it to my colleague, they were very interested. We took a quick Lyft ride from the conference center. What a cute restaurant! It's cozy and the space is utilized so efficiently. The staff were so warm and welcoming as well as attentive. Our lovely waitress provided vivid descriptions of each of the dishes that we either asked about or ordered, which made us even more excited to receive our meal! We started with the beignets (without the crab dip; it was supplemented with pimento cheese). They were savory and delicious, with I think pecorino cheese and balsamic glaze. It came with 4 generously sized beignets and we big had to stop after one to leave room for our meal! For entrees, my colleague got the seafood curry and I got the drunken noodles with tofu. Both of these dishes were very generous portions and quite spicy! The tofu in the drunken noodles had a very light (tempura?) batter with a sort of Chinese salt and pepper seasoning. My colleague's seafood curry came with a HUGE lobster tail, lots of mussels and other seafood plus a side of green (!) rice. Everything was so good. We had leftovers to take with us to the hotel. Highly recommend checking out Poor Calvin's if you get the chance!

I opted for one of their specials which was a lamb meatloaf w/ gravy ontop and it came with a lobster tail and mashed potatoes for $55. The meatloaf seem to have more filler in it and I could barely taste the lamb. The sauce ontop was okay. The mashed potatoes were bland. The best thing was the lobster tail. I got the suspension cake which was highly raved about according to the reviews. It was good but not the best dessert I've ever had. It's a HUGE slice of cake so if you order it, share it with others or take it home. I split it between the 3 of us and we still couldn't finish it. Service was great and the host was kind enough to save me a table. They get BUSY the moment they open the door, so if you don't have reservations, get there 15 minutes prior to opening. It's hard to get in there. Would I'd come back? Eh. I can't say that I was that impressed or curious enough to try anything else. It is a bit pricey but not so unaffordable.. come check l it out for yourself.
