n the May of 2018, an enterprising young man came to my door and asked if I'd like to have my driveway repaved. His family, K Patterson Paving were part of the contingent paving the streets that summer in the town of South Berwick. They removed my ancient cracked driveway and laid in a smooth new hot top that looked gorgeous and made plowing a breeze in the winter. In the early part of 2019 we experienced some trouble with runoff from rainfall which flooded my basement, and in the spring I discovered some sinkhole issues near the house which I fixed. This week, the Patterson family called to announce they were coming out to resurface my entire driveway to fix the angle of rain runoff. Today, they did! Once again-- it looks splendid and it's clear that the rainfall will flow the correct way off my driveway. They examined the sinkhole and did a 1st class professional fix. I called the Patterson's and they were very quick to come take a look at my driveway for an estimate. Most places were 2-3 months out and they said they could start on it that week! I had many loads of fill brought in to level out parts of the land I was adding driveway to and Ken Jr. was very careful not to disrupt either of the garage foundations. When the entire team came to pave the driveway, they were meticulous in their prep and edge finish work. I just got back to the are and returned to my vacation home in North Hampton. Other the years the driveway had begun to look weathered. My neighbor gave me these guy's numbers and the work was done quick and effective. I was worried the job would cause some damage to my garden which is located right next to the driveway but these guys were very neat. K. Patterson Paving dug out an area and back filled over 1 and a half feet of gravel to support a slab for a new garage. They did not check for our natural gas line, that they were solely responsible for which the gas utility company 100% agrees with and has filed a violation against the company, so now, the gas line has to be rerouted costing us $600 for the gas utility company to reroute with cutting our new driveway which can only be restored to its current state by repaving at around $3400. Also, Patterson Paving ruptured the gas line which we just figured out that was causing severe cracking within the garage foundation and also made the concrete foundation like swiss cheese with the natural gas escaping from the ruptured gas piping through the foundation. Prior to discovering this, we attempted to stop the cracking, with no knowing what was causing it, first with caulking, next epoxy, and finally a very expensive vinyl flooring which cost just itself over $1000, however; we are currently researching what this is eventually going to do to the overall foundation which will very likely need to be redone at a very expensive price obviously since the garage structure has already been completed. Also, with having a signed contract with Patterson Paving, they also didn't complete all the tasks they promised to do even with us giving them payment in full. They also only wanted cash only which was obvious to us they wished to avoid paying their taxes. Our surrounding neighbors also had their driveways done by Patterson Paving with being very unhappy as well and also having to pay only cash with one neighbor paying over $9000. Another neighbor had to get rid of them prior to their driveway being completed due to ***** ********* continuously pestering them for more money as they worked on their driveway when getting them between a rock and a hard place which they definitely did to us as well. We tried to get them to fix the damage in a very nice way, but eventually they would hang up on us. read more
