It could not have possibly been an "open box", unless you consider it open-box in the sense that any product that has ever been purchased is. The back mesh had a tear at the base, the seat depth mechanism was broken and gives way on the left, leaving the seat uneven. How can you sell a chair, used or otherwise without sitting in it or looking at it? And how could it have gotten damaged in two unique ways during a normal return period? To top it off, it wasn't even fully loaded, it didn't have the forward tilt option. EDIT: More runaround from these people. They contacted me 2 days ago through yelp, offering to help. I tell her that their paypal guy acknowledged receiving the return already but gave me an excuse why he couldn't do the refund(blaming it on me of course). I proceeded to give him exact directions on how to do the refund(I use paypal for my business, too). The yelp contact asked for my order number so I send that. The next day I get a message saying they refunded me on the 13th. Do they really think I'd be bothering them if I had my money back? I responded immediately and am waiting yet another day for a response. How long should I have to wait for my money to be refunded? This was 100% entirely their fault. They only had to sit in or look at the chair to know that nobody would accept it. I wouldn't have paid $100 for that chair. THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS. LOOK AT THE OTHER 1 STAR REVIEWS. THEY WILL SEND YOU BROKEN USED UP CHAIRS AND CLAIM THEY ARE "OPEN BOX" OR LIKE NEW. IF THEY WILL SEND ME A CHAIR SO BROKEN DOWN AS "OPEN BOX", HOW WILL YOU KNOW IF YOUR BRAND NEW CHAIRS AREN'T THE OPEN BOXES?

We ordered a couch (plus a coffee table and side tables) from Steinhafels and selected a delivery date based on the availability offered at checkout. What should have been a standard delivery of brand-new furniture turned into multiple failed attempts, damaged items and ongoing confusion. It has now been more than a month and we still do not have a functioning couch. The core issue is not a minor cosmetic issue. It's Steinhafels' warehouse handling and assembly quality, which then gets pushed to the delivery team to try to fix in real time. A brand-new couch should not arrive ripped, incorrectly assembled or broken on the truck -- and a replacement should not show up with the same kind of damage. What happened (timeline) Delivery attempt No. 1: * We received no advance notice of any problem. * The delivery team arrived and told us the couch was damaged at the warehouse and could not be delivered. The drivers even indicated we should have been notified ahead of time, but we were not. * Once the truck was opened, it was also clear the coffee table and side tables were damaged, and the drivers refused to deliver them due to the damage. Delivery attempt No. 2: * The couch finally arrived, but it was in unacceptable condition for a new purchase: ripped upholstery, improper assembly, bent in the center, bottom riser dragging, wrong legs. * We were not comfortable sitting on it. We also felt pushed toward a "repair" solution, which is not appropriate for a brand-new couch delivered in defective condition with incorrect assembly. * This attempt also had a real impact on our plans. We were expecting the delivery to be resolved before hosting, and we ended up having to cancel our New Year's Eve party at the last minute because the couch situation was still not resolved after this failed delivery. Delivery attempt No. 3 (the "replacement"): * This was supposed to be a simple exchange: broken couch out, new couch in. * The delivery team told us the replacement couch was already broken on the truck -- the footrest was bent. They tried to repair it, but it was still not functioning properly. After three attempts, we were once again left without a working couch. Additional issues: store runarounds and extra costs Every delivery attempt has required us to drive to the store to get anyone's attention -- only for the store to call the same customer service line that has been unhelpful and unable to resolve the issue. We also live in a high-rise in the city, which adds real costs and logistics each time a delivery is scheduled. Every attempt requires reserving the service elevator, which costs us about $200 each time -- and we have had to do that repeatedly because Steinhafels has not delivered a usable couch.

Our house only had a scratch on the wall from the 2 carrying up a couch to a 2nd floor. I dismissed it, not a big deal. What I didn't see till later that day that they damaged our driveway with their truck, leaving a large slice in our black top. After calls to our sales person & manager, we were told because we signed the sheet we had no recourse & they were sorry.... Really?!

I called ABT and spoke with Lou (his direct # 847-954-4140). I did some research before I called and liked the Samsung 55." 4K NEO QLED, originally $1,297.99, on sale for $897.99. Lou stated, "They had a sale starting tomorrow (Saturday) and that he could sell it to me for $651.00." Great! Lou said he could have it delivered next Tuesday. I explained my mother's situation and asked if it could be delivered tomorrow, on Saturday. Lou said, "I'll make it happen." Now that is exceptional customer service! Josh Hoffman was the technician who delivered and set up my mother's new Samsung TV. Josh programmed the Xfinity remote to the new TV, and my mother accidentally hit something that made the TV verbally announce everything she did. Josh asked if she wanted that, and my mother said no. Josh was quick-witted and a comedian; he had my mother laughing. You certainly can tell when an employee loves their job! THANK YOU SO MUCH, LOU AND JOSH, FOR MAKING THIS PURCHASE GO SO SMOOTHLY AND ENJOYABLE FOR MOM!

I've been in my house long enough to replace the appliances I bought previously. Since most places that used to sell appliances no longer exist, I feel Abt is the lesser of the evils, better selection and employee knowledge than the big box stores. I don't usual have a positive shopping experience at Abt. I'm mostly ignored and always have to ask someone to help me. I only go to Abt when I need to purchase something so it's ridiculous no one approaches me. Luckily my most recent visit was a positive one. I had to buy a new dryer and didn't know which one to buy. Rodolfo Alvarez was the sales rep that APPROACHED me. Rodolfo was kind and a great listener, I told him what was important to me and he showed me my options. He helped me settle on a LG dryer that I wasn't expecting to choose, but based on what was important to me, fit my requirements the best. Another couple was listening in and based on what he said, I think they decided to go with the same one. I felt bad he couldn't help us both since he should have gotten credit for the other sale as well. I told Rodolfo next time I need something at Abt, I'm calling him. Five stars for Rodolfo! I knocked off a star due to all of my previous unpleasant experiences at Abt.

Since I recently moved cross-country to Chicago, I am in need for office furniture. I went with my husband hoping to find a office chair or some furniture to use until my furniture arrives via Pod in a few months. Anyway they allowed (1) free piece of furniture and also was selling preused furniture for $39 and $99 bucks. We really lucked out. My husband found a big chair for our living room for free. We purchased a huge book case for my office. In addition to these pieces, we found a rolling ottoman and a side table. We were thrilled with our finds. This wharehouse is open to the public and had a floor dedicated to sale/clearance items and a bunch of new items too. The prices seemed reasonable on the new items too. Checkout website for items currently on sale. I would like to shout-out Mark (owner) and Junior for having awesome customer service. Junior helped me with approximating how many yards of fabric I would need to reupholster the chair that we got for free. Oh yes, I failed to mentioned they have lots of fabric for sale. At the event the fabric was only $5 a yard. Such a deal. Mad props to this business. *only furnishing for my temporary housing for now but will look to this business for my more permanent home in the near future* Would add photos of finds but waiting delivery. That process seems easy. Hoping I will have our items soon but there was polar vortex.
