Fred and his team expertly dis-assembled a 100 foot dying Cherry tree, piece by piece, without touching overhead wires, a wooden fence, a swimming pool or my house. Had the wind storm, which came a week later, knocked the weakened tree down, I'm sure we would have suffered ten$ of thousand$ of dollar$ in damage, let alone the inconvenience. Originally used K&S to cut down 12 trees of various size and both the price and quality were 5 stars! Fred worked with me and lead the project answering all my questions. I then used K&S again for 8 more trees (that I should of taken down originally) and once again K&S gave me a great price and honest feedback on NOT cutting down a large tree that another service said I should because of splitting. Service was fast, on time and the crew was very nice and respectful. Note- they do not remove stump grindings so you have to clean that up, but I think that's industry standard. read more

If I could give no stars I would. We had them come to give an estimate. Fred said they would be be back in two weeks to do the job. That seemed reasonable. I agreed. He asked for a deposit. It had to be a check for $100. Ok fine, I paid it. 4 weeks go by, no one has contacted me, what so ever. After leaving a message the receptionist called me back. She says we can get you in next week... she expected me to be excited that after nearly 6 weeks (of a 2 week quote) I would have my yard taken care of. After I explained that's not going to work I want a refund. She says your contact says the deposit is non refundable. I explain that he said 2 weeks not 6 again. She says it's the rain. Meanwhile my grass is so dry because it's rained like twice this last month for like 15 minutes. So clearly that's just something they say. I ask for a manager. He has to call me back and again he acts like I should be excited they can come next week. I explain the situation again. He says it's rained 3 days. I'm like 3 days out of 30 something days doesn't make you almost a month behind. That's poor planning as a business. Or do you tell all your potential customers that it's 2 weeks out even though you know it's not possible just to get them to say yes? What kind of scam are you running. He started yelling at me. It's not a scam! Don't ever call us again. (Like I would if I ever wanted something done). He says he will be sure to drop my deposit off himself in pennies at my doorstep. Then he hung up on me. I'm sure it's not coming. Since I had to give the deposit by check I can't dispute the charge with my credit card. So now I'm now out $100 for them doing absolutely no work. K & S Tree Service removed two very large pine trees for us and I would highly recommend them. They were very professional, came out and gave us a quote, showed up the date they gave us, removed the trees and cleaned up the debris and ground the stump. Excellent job! Also my two sisters used them for their tree removal needs and highly recommended them to me. Fred, the gentleman who came out to give us the quote was very knowledgeable and polite, Kathy in the office was extremely nice and efficient. Overall I would give them 5 stars! read more

If you enjoy high pressure sales, lies and fear mongering, call and hire these people and get ripped off pronto! Of note: this review is from my experience with this company three years ago, but they left such an impression that I had to follow up and warn others about them now that I 'yelp'. They told me my backyard was a danger zone and that someone would be hurt if I did not hire them on the spot to start working right away. I explained to them from the very beginning I was just getting a quote and would later discuss with my husband who we would be hiring. They used fear and lies and kept insisting I call my husband immediately, despite me saying he was in a global meeting and could not be disturbed. They even lied about Detroit Edison charging us if a tree fell on the line! Straight up LIES! To this day we have not chopped down the 'dangerous trees' in our backyard and nobody has been hurt by a single branch or leaf. This company is why women do not like to have workers in their home to get quotes, because of fear of being taken advantage of and ripped off. I am lucky their shady tactics did not work on me, and hope they don't work on you either. read more

I prepaid for 3 ricks of wood to be held till I could pick up. I paid 65 a rick, I paid 3 days before I picked up and was promised 3 ricks of stacked split wood. When I arrived there was no wood stacked, split or cut. My brother, his wife and myself had to help cut, split and stack it or wait for it to be done. I couldn't wait as I was told I couldn't come till after 4:30 that day and I didn't want to be driving home in the dark. I tried to reach out to the owner the day after and reach a resolution before posting a review but to no avail, all I received was 'Well you didn't have to help, you did that yourself and I have had people begging for wood so its not my fault you waited to pick up your wood.' I will not be using them ever again in the future and recommend others do not as well. read more

There should be a category below not good, because that's where this service is. I put a deposit down, called a few times and TWO MONTHS later they show up for the job, which was to remove all vegetation from the side of my house. They did a half-assed job leaving behind 25% of what should have been removed. I'm addition, he tried scaring me into having a tree removed that I do not want removed telling me that it's going to fall on my house. On top of all that, he was extremely rude. Worst tree removal service ever, poor customer service. Called them to remove a tree and after it was done there was still wood chips where the tree was. Called them multiple times and finally after numerous calls they pretty much told us that its not their problem. read more

Fred was the sales manager who came to give estimate. I was asking him questions regarding different scenarios and he told me "are we planning to do something here or you are just wasting my time?". I was referred to this rip off Co. by a friend. I had a rude and abrasive dealing their Sales Manager, Fred. A very awful man with an attitude. He tried to scare the hell out of me about how the trees would come through my roof. I called 3 other Companies and they came out and ALL of them said eventually you should have a couple removed. But Fred from K&S Tree Service quoted me $14,000.00 for three medium sized trees. What a awful cut throat Co. DO NOT EVER USE K&S Tree Service EVER. They are a rip off company. I wish I could give this company a negative amount of stars. To make a long story short they fired the man who gave me my estimate because he wasn't quoting high enough - but instead of telling me they let me leave messages for him and kept telling me I was a priority and they would get it done ASAP. Finally it was supposed to be done today but instead a new sales person comes to my house and tells me he just wanted to review the work and the team would be ready this afternoon. 10 minutes after leaving he calls me and says it's going to be $1,000 higher than my quote. Apparently he couldn't say it to me in person and felt the need to say it over the phone. I would not recommend this company - poor service and very poor people skills. read more

We had K&S remove a crab apple tree that was not only diseased, but it had been planted too close to our house and garage. After getting three estimates we chose K&S because Fred took time with us to discuss the trees on our property and the condition that they were all in. He shared information on tree disease with us to guide us in what trees should be trimmed, saved, or taken down. We have an Austrian Pine that is diseased and rather than him come back and continually treat the tree year after year without much improvement, he recommended taking it down. His team worked well together, regardless of working in a tight space between the house and garage they did no damage to our property and cleaned up really well after themselves. We have already made plans for K&S to return in April to trim trees and will also have them plant a new tree elsewhere on our property to replace the tree that we took out.
