Kris and his team took down two big trees for us last week. Communication was great and very professional. The crew arrived promptly and took every precaution to make sure there would be no damage to our deck that the trees were adjacent to. They were very organized and after the work was completed they made sure to leave the area cleared of debris. The price was reasonable and we were given a senior discount plus a discount for cash payment. We highly recommend Lakes Forestry. read more

These guys do a great job. Professional, timely, reasonably priced and courteous. Kris and his team have done several jobs at our home. You won't be disappointed. read more

These guys were amazing! This was a difficult tree to get to in a back yard with electrical wires, vinyl fence, septic field and a waterfall pond under the tree. They cut and lifted this 80 ft tree over the house with a crane - never damaging a thing. They did a great job of cleaning up both front and back yards. The guys were very courteous and polite. From the time we received the quote to doing the job, Chris was great at returning calls and being on time. I would highly recommend Chris and his guys for anyone needing tree service. Great job, Chris! read more

Kris was fantastic to deal with! For the first time when dealing with a wood supplier, the volume of wood I paid for was what arrived. No fussing, I just called, he delivered my face cord, and I put the check in the mail. His wood splits are of varying sizes so you'll likely not need to split much of it yourself, if any. He dropped it where I asked for easy stacking and the volume was spot on. Bear in mind that he has busy seasons so if he doesn't get back to you it's not a slight or a blow-off. Leave a message and he'll hit you back up. My advice...call before you're in need. read more

Great company! Kris and his team do awesome work. He communicated with us well prior to coming to do the work. The tree line that was cut down was done exactly as we asked for, and it looks great. I'm happy I no longer have to worry about trees falling in our house. We will definitely use this company again. read more

We hired Lakes Forestry to cut down and haul away a 40-foot mulberry tree that fell in our backyard during a storm. Kris, the owner of the company, was prompt in visiting our property and submitting quote. His quote bested the others we recieved. Kris scheduled the work and called to reconfirm when he and his crew would arrive. Kris was a pleasure to work with and very responsive. When the crew was working in our backyard, we realized we had additional tree work that needed to be done. Kris gave us an on-the-spot quote and did it that day in addition to the work he already was scheduled to do. The crew was professional, friendly and efficient. After the crew finished the work, including hauling away the debris, our yard looked great. We are very happy with Lakes Forestry's work and would not hesitate to recommend them. read more

I have not yet had the work completed, but I have to give him a HUGE thumbs up on follow up and ease of doing business. And honesty, that is super refreshing! I thought I had a tree dying in the back yard, and asked him to take a peek when he was in the area. He swung by (maybe the next day?) and left an estimate in my mailbox. But he CALLED me to let me know! How nice is that?!?! And he said the tree wasn't dead, it just needed to be trimmed. He came back by to give me an estimate to trim all the trees. I am still in the quoting phase, but he was so quick and professional, it will be tough to chose someone else. And as others mentioned, insurance was given with the written quote. I liked him a lot. read more

I need someone "know how" and confidence to do a tree remove job. So I called Kris, after shopping for half day to find a good one. Fast response on a service quote phone call. I felt like a victor. Kris came the next day. He gave me a quote with reasonable price. He promised me the date that he will come. Which he did. Him and his team arrived, they worked speedy like hurricane, G-5! Trees were gone, I noticed house is bright, I thought they just got here! Team members and Kris are friendly and very professional. Lakes Forestry is a company where will be on the top of my list. It is not the name and the 5 star, it is a company that I can feel what is their highest mission. The team members and Kris truly fulfills the unexpected wishes and needs of what I want to achieve. Thank you very much! Lakes Forestry Tree Service. You guys are amazing. See you next year for trees trimming! read more

I highly recommend Lakes Forestry Tree Service. We hired Lakes Forestry to remove 3 trees and trim 5 other trees. The price quote was reasonable compared to the 4 other quotes we received. They arrived as scheduled and completed the job in a timely and professional manner. Upon completion, they cleaned the property thoroughly. We are on hiring them again, to remove another tree on our property this spring. Highly recommended, we are very pleased with their work. read more

Need a large, dying tree removed from a dense neighborhood. Not an easy job, imo. Also needed some bushes and one small tree removed. Fair, quick, and thorough quote in writing. Proof of insurance provided without asking. Very friendly. Showed up when he said they would. Work performed exactly as promised. Good advice about other possible projects. Everything cleaned up nicely at the end. Couldn't be happier. Would for sure use again. My mom has had many trees removed and she couldn't believe how nice the area looked where the large tree was removed and stump grinded. Absolutely fantastic. Would recommend to anyone looking for this kind of work. read more

Update 30-Jul-18: Was contacted by owner Kris concerning my less than ideal interaction with Lakes Forestry. Kris was very concerned about having a less than satisfied customer due to a communication issue. He reacted immediately.. got us rescheduled and taken care of. The work was done quickly and efficiently. Clean up was done very well. Anyone can have a communication breakdown... but I give 5 stars here because the responsiveness of Lakes Forestry to complaints was 2nd to none. Original Review: Wife called this company to get quote. Reasonable quote so I called and set an appointment for 2 weeks later because they are so busy. Take a vacation day to wait at the house for a no show and no call. Called, texted, V and E-mail all day with no call backs. Finally after 2 days got a call back to voicemail that the miss was my fault because my wife and I called and owner must have called the wifes number and left a message that Lakes would not be here. Checked both my and the wife caller ID history and voicemail and NOTHING was there from Lakes. Very disappointed in this service. Will look elsewhere for this read more

Left large roots in my 86 year old grandmothers yard after removing a large pine and stump. Written quote said "haul away ALL debris/wood". When I called Kris to ask him to finish the job (which was paid for) he told me it would cost an extra $100 to clean-up. He was disrespectful on the phone and showed no interest in making sure we were happy with the job. I am in construction and know how this industry works and it is NOT the way these guys run their business. read more

Highly recommend! I called on a Sunday and Kris called back within a few minutes. He came out to see our tree within another 20 minutes. He and his team were on site as scheduled and did a nice job removing and cleaning up the tree area. I would definitely use again! read more

Second time I have used Chris for tree trimming. Second time sent payment in full. When I came home I noticed the main tree that needed help had not been touched. Owner said a car was parked in way of tree work. Apologized and he said he would come back. Sent check and never herd from him again. Not sure what happened? read more

I hired Forestry Tree Service to trim several large branches and numerous smaller branches from a large tree in my backyard. Kris Benestad (owner) and two employees arrived at specified time. They performed the requested work promptly and cleaned up my property perfectly. Kris and his team were very professional and courteous. The cost for the work performed was very reasonable and less than other tree services. I highly recommend Forestry Tree Service for all your tree services. read more

Many red flags with this tree service!!! DO NOT HIRE!!! I was dealing with Chris. He did not show up to do the quote when it was agreed. When he finally came to do the quote he was late. Since I had planned to be home during the quote, I took time off from work unnecessarily since he was a no show. He cancelled out 2 times when I scheduled the tree trimming and no show. His excuse was that his equipment broke down and his phone was stolen so he couldn't call. When he finally came to do the trimming in Aug. 30th, he did not do the job as we had discussed. He trimmed only the lower branches and not the top of the trees or shaped the trees. They did an awful job trimming the cranberry trees & lilac trees by the side of the driveway. Too much was trimmed off. They damaged the roof line of the house when they cut down the pine tree. When I pointed out the damaged roof, his comment was, "Are you accusing me that we did that"? Chris was not apologetic and did not acknowledge the damaged roof. Instead he blamed it on the wind & the branch too close by the roof. I was furious and wanted them to leave. Having hired this tree service company caused us to have additional expenses especially with having to fix the roof after the damaged. I will never use this company again.!!! Their quote may be reasonable but the work done is not good or at standard. This company does not take responsibilities for any damages that may occur due to their reckless actions. Lake Forestry Tree Service is NOT a trustworthy company!!! read more

Kris was awesome. Took care of everything I requested on my rental property, plus more. It was his first time doing entire landscaping, but he teamed up with buddies to get the job done right in one day. Showed up on time with enough number of guys to handle the job. Gave me written estimates and receipts, scanned and e-mailed me. Highly recommend these guys if you want honest, quality job with very competitive and fair pricing. read more

After being in contact with 4 other tree companies and being promised times when no one ever showed--the crew at Lakes forestry was extremely reliable and professional. The owner Kris followed through with every promise and was courteous to let us know they were behind. I couldn't be more pleased with his simple communication and integrity. Aside from excellent business, the work preformed was well done and cleaned up nicely. Highly recommend!! read more

We had a tall dead elm tree fall over onto a couple of spruce trees in our yard. I found Lakes Forestry on Yelp and gave them a call. The owner, Kris, came out on a Saturday and gave us a quote. His quote was the best by a far margin. He also came back the same day and took care of it. I highly recommend Lakes Forestry and will use them again. read more

I called Lakes Forestry for a quote and they were out within the hour. The quote was reasonable and Chris was really nice, so I decided to go with them. I couldn't believe they were able to do the work I needed done the same day! I had a tree chopped down and all of our trees in the backyard trimmed. They did a great job, were quick, friendly and cleaned it all up. I couldn't be happier. This morning I was wondering if we should get the trees trimmed, and by dinner it was all done. I can't say enough great things about Kris and his crew at Lakes Forestry Tree Service. We had a variety of fallen trees from a recent storm, multiple dead trees and trees that needed trimming surrounding our commercial property in Commerce Township.
