I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with a K&L that not only failed to meet the basic standards of quality but also engaged in deceptive practices that have left me frustrated and out of pocket. Despite their online presence filled with glowing reviews and impressive work photos, my experience tells a completely different story.
The work they conducted at my home was subpar and did not pass the required state inspections, indicating a lack of professionalism and expertise. When I raised my concerns, the company outright refused to take responsibility, blaming the subcontractors they chose to employ rather than addressing the root of the issue. It became evident that the owner, Kurt, was more concerned with maintaining their online facade than rectifying the tangible shortcomings of their work.
Further investigation on my part revealed a deeply troubling practice: their online reputation, which initially convinced me to hire them, was largely fabricated. Most of the glowing reviews came from family members and employees(Skiles and Colbert among others), a clear case of astroturfing. Additionally, the photos showcasing their completed projects were misleading, if not entirely fake, designed to misrepresent the quality of their work.
This experience is a cautionary tale for anyone looking to K&L. Not only did they deliver unacceptable work, but they also engaged in deceptive practices that violate the trust consumers place in businesses. For those in Texas, it's important to remember that such deceptive practices are actionable under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act (DTPA). The DTPA protects consumers against false, misleading, and deceptive business practices, ensuring there is a legal recourse for those wronged by businesses like this.
I regret choosing K&L Construction and hope my experience serves as a warning to others. The discrepancy between their online image and the reality of their service is not only misleading but potentially violates consumer protection laws. read more
