Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming Woodforest

Why 5 stars? Because our grooming experience was great…read more --- --- --- We just moved to the area and fortunately, Woof Gang just updated up in our new neighborhood. One thing that we definitely needed to find here was a new dog groomer, as our golden retriever needs several spa days every year. Something important with a dog groomer is proximity to your home. That's really important with any business, I suppose. But a groomer requires two round trip drives with pick-up and drop-off. It appears that the next closest groomer is at least 20 minutes away, which means an hour and 20 minutes of commuting. So even though it seems strange because we have another Woof Gang not too far away, I am selfishly very happy that they opened up here. But Woodforest is a hug neighborhood, so I'm sure there are many others who are also grateful. In Tampa, we tried to take our dog to a Woof Gang that opened near our old house, but to be honest, we were not a big fan of the haircut he got. But we know that every groomer is different and that our Tampa grooming experience is not an indictment of all Woof Gang's around the globe. It turned out, his haircut looked pretty much identical to the place we just to take him in Tampa and was virtually the same price. So after one visit, I think we've found our permanent groomer!

Play time and even one on one time. As for price, boarding your pet is pricey if the place is decent. This place is way beyond decent and for what they charge vs rthecsrrvodecamdctreatment, no a bad deal. I will certainly continue to use them.

Late the preceding Sunday afternoon I received a phone call that my dogs Bordetella had expired. I thought it odd because he was current on all vaccination; he even had the influenza vaccination. I told them I would check with the vet first thing Monday morning - the day I was headed out of town. First thing Monday, I called my vet who informed me his vaccinations were all up to date, and they emailed me a copy of his records. I forwarded these to the Lodge and followed up with a phone call. Kelsey said they had received the email and we "were all set." I took my dog to the Lodge and mentioned that I was glad the issue had all been cleared up......they said no, his vaccinations were not current, that his Bordetella had expired. I said that the records were provided showing that he was current. I told them that Kelsey had confirmed that all was ok. She was sitting at the front desk and said she only confirmed that they had received the email records-she said that she never looked at them. Seriously?? It was then, and only then, that I was informed that their policy was that this vaccination had to be renewed every 6 months, rather than annually as is the general practice. Never once had anyone mentioned that they required this vaccination to be done every 6 months. It would seem that this should have been mentioned before now, especially since, standard practice is that this vaccination is good for 12 months and also since I specifically called to follow up on this issue before bringing my dog for boarding. At this point my only option was to pay THEIR hospital a $55 exam fee plus the cost of the vaccination or they could not accept my dog. Nice little scam to get business for their hospital.....they must have thought they had me over a barrel, but guess what, they are not the only game in town!! Needless to say, I will not be going back and have already warned several neighbors to beware of their less than forthcoming business practices.

Focus Dog Training - Rick Walkley teaching "come" exercise

    Focus Dog Training

My wife and I thought we did our due diligence before we even called Rick Walkley of Focus Dog…read moreTraining. He would not talk much about his program over the phone with my wife and said he had to come to our house to explain how it works. Long story short, he ended up taking our dog on a very short walk and we were so impressed by our dog's behavior while on the walk, we decided to pay Rick's fee up front which he represented to us would be for one year of training at about one hour per session per week. The total averaged about $50 per hour. Of the seven sessions we hung in there for and used his services, only two came close to being a full hour. Most were 15 to 30 minutes in duration. He kept telling us that was all our dog needed or could handle. That is one reason we became unhappy. The other reason we became disenchanted with Mr. Walkley is that he always chose and notified us by text when the next session would be. He did not let us first check our calendar. He did not even suggest the next training date options at the end of a session before leaving. He simply left, selected a date, and notified us as to when he would be available. If the date he selected was not good for us, it was 1-3 days later before we heard from him regarding another date he had selected. My wife requested on more than one occasion that he pick a same day/same time every week so we could plan. We advised him that there was only one day of the week that typically did not work for us and he often selected that day for training our dog. So, after seven training sessions over more than a six-month period of time, we called it quits and asked for a prorated refund of our money. He then explained to us that the upfront fee we paid was a discounted amount for our single payment and if we cancelled early, his normal fee of $195 per session would apply and he could only give us a credit toward future training. This condition was never explained to us. He did eventually provide some waiver of liability forms that alluded to the discount but did not disclose the numbers. Once we convinced him that we no longer felt comfortable dealing with him and that we were prepared to file suit, he offered his original reduced refund in cash in exchange for signing a "General Release Agreement" which would prevent us from posting any negative reviews. We refused to agree with that. It seems likely that is why he has no negative reviews on the internet. Rick Walkley talks the talk but he doesn't walk the walk. He expects to set the date and time of each session without first checking with you, he won't set weekly appointments, and he spends only a few minutes training your dog. Beyond that, he wants you to do the training but provides very little guidance and instruction for you. Let's face it, how much can he do in 15-20 minutes average training time for either the dog or the owner. It's your choice but if you decide to use Focus Dog Training be sure that you get everything in writing before paying your money.
