Biscuits, not cookies !!…read more Oh my gosh. Absolute heaven. Thick discs of buttery deliciousness. Stumbled upon this sweet treat shop while wandering the south side of Montmartre. Barrels and shelves of biscuits, chocolates and other sweet bites. Greeted as I was walked in, I was offered a mini chocolate filled biscuit. Mmmm as its buttery goodness melted in my mouth and exposed the dark chocolate fudge center. Yes, I must buy some. The shortbreads are in the center of the store in open bins. Almost a dozen choices. I went with a couple of plain ones and a couple of chocolate ones. Both were fabulous. In the Paris rainy fall, I discovered I needed to eat them in a couple of days or they loose their crispness. Also because they contain a lot of butter, don't set the biscuits on anything fabric. I need more !!

George, the owner, knows his stuff by heart and if you ask he will patiently explain the difference between the 4 different types of salted caramels he stocks or the detailed history of each sweet. Of course, it's slightly more expensive than what you'll get from the supermarket but the sweets at Le Bonbon au Palais are so much better you really can't compare them to Haribo's industrial crap! Not to mention you'll also be buying a little piece of French history and nostalgia along with the sugar...
