Fat men, I write that as a fat man by the way, so don't be defensive, listen up! Or, er... read up!…read moreIf you're in Prague and you like pork, like any self respecting fat man does, you must go here! I repeat, you MUST go here.
Ah pork, the universal meat enjoyed by all intelligent life. They do it right! And to top it off, really good local beer, how can you go wrong?
I found myself wandering the streets of Prague near my hotel and there it was, calling to me. The facade adorned with three pig heads speaking in the international language of food love! I was drawn to it like a moth to flame. So, in I wandered and was greeted by a very friendly staff with enough English skills to do the trick.
The menu has an English translation, and even better yet, little silhouettes of a pig, or a duck (I understand they're big on Duck in Czech as well), or a cow and so on. I think American restaurants should follow suit, it was so easy to narrow in on what I wanted.
Pork knee it was! I mean, come on, who doesn't crave a pig knee now and again? It was awesome, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Accompanied with various dipping sauces and I was set. For full disclosure, I felt like an utter failure as I left meat on that bone. I know, I know, I need to surrender my fat man card, but hey, I ordered dessert to go, and I had three delicious local pilsners, so that should redeem myself a tad, no?
By the way, a bit of trivia for you, the other Czech city, Pilsen, is the birth place of Pilsner beer. So, there's that. People, go here, you'll be glad you did, unless of course you're some kind of vegan or something, I shudder to think.
