I wrote a review 2 years ago on Google - so I'm going to write one here on Yelp due to the fact that my experience with this company only becomes better and better! I've been with my company for about 3 years now, and having surety bonds is something that require me to deal with JW Surety fairly often. In my 3 years - I've YET to talk to an employee who isn't beyond friendly and willing to go above and beyond for me. They always take their time to explain something so that I can understand it. But I really wanted to write this review because last night - my company was in a huge deadline to fix an issue with our MD Surety Bond within NMLS. This was a serious, urgent issue that was very confusing on my end. I called J.W. Surety around 5 pm - sweating bullets at this point because I knew that most people leave the office around that time. Unfortunately the woman I was working with during the day had left the office, but Nikki (Nicole) Mackwish answered the phone and she tried working through my issue, but just to get some more help she wanted to bring Tina Cruz (Office Manager) on the phone as well. These 2 ladies sat on the phone with me for over a half hour helping me figure out this issue in NMLS (anyone familiar with NMLS knows how confusing the website can be). They were able to fix my issue that I haven't been able to figure out for WEEKS. Tina Cruz even called me FIRST THING this morning just to confirm that everything was good in NMLS for our company....Now that is customer service. I was extremely stressed yesterday and extremely worried about what was going to happen if I didn't figure out my issue - but Tina and Nicole instantly put everything they were doing aside to help me (AND I'm sure they were getting ready to leave for the day) and they still took all this time to help me. It's so amazing (and refreshing) to witness that there are people willing to go out of their way to help others. They both could have easily brushed me off, said that they were leaving for the day - but they did not. Thank you SO much Tina Cruz and Nicole Mackwish for being wonderful, and for once again proving that JW Surety honestly has the best employee's ever! I want you both to know how much it meant to me that you helped me figure out my issue. read more

I would like to thank JW Surety Bonds and in particular Craig Hemler for exceptional help he provided to my company. We had a situation where we hadn't received an invoice from a vendor. The vendor contacted us last Friday and we told them we would send out payment on 08-22 or 08-23. The vendor evidently didn't believe us and made a claim against our surety bond. As a small broker, this is VERY DESTRUCTIVE AND NEGATIVE. We hadn't deserved this, as we hadn't been invoiced so we could not pay on an invoice we hadn't received. Craig Hemler and JW Surety Bonds were there to the rescue. We sent supporting documentation to JW Surety showing the timeline details and Craig was wonderful in his professional and extremely competent and kind help in getting this completely resolved. As I had stated to Craig, the help received "was like insurance..., you don't know that you need it until you need it..." We sure needed it. I have referred a fellow broker (Sum Fortune International in South El Monte CA) 2 years ago to JW Surety and will let them know that like the Allstate Insurance statement "they are in good hands", as I am. This recent experience with Craig and JW Surety will only serve to cement my relationship with them, as well as be a living endorsement and referral to each and every business looking for a great company to be there for them in need. Craig Hemler of JW Surety Bonds has been totally awesome, ONCE AGAIN! I had the pleasure of meeting Craig last year through the first issue we had with our bond since opening our doors in 1994. We had a carrier submit paperwork stating we had not paid, which was not true, but I had no idea how to deal with it. Craig held my hand through the entire experience and made sure I understood what was going on. Fast-forward about a year... We end up with the driver holding cars hostage for just over 35 days, and demanding payment. I don't exactly know how to handle the situation, but I know my back and contract with the driver stipulates his behavior is illegal and in breach. I proactively reached out to Craig for some advice, and also to forewarn him that I anticipated a claim being made on our bond... After all, if this driver was irrational for the past month and a half, why would we expect that getting to change now. Craig responded back to me and lightning fast time, with a phone call, validating receipt of my information and making sure that he properly understood the situation. I was blown away. This was one of the few times in transportation that I truly felt as though we had a third-party advocate that was willing to understand our position. We went through the future protocol, and established a course of action in the event the driver made a claim against our bond. Thankfully the driver has not made a claim, but I could rest easy knowing what I should do in the event that happened. read more

I don't even know where to start! One of the best customer service experiences I've ever had thanks to Kimberley Lightcap which is rare nowadays! If can rate more than 5 stars I would! and here is why. I have a small business that is expanding and in need of a surety bond. After Googling what a surety bond was, I set out to find where to get one. Luckily the first one I clicked on was JW Surety. I am opening a small used car lot in Utah and a couple of other smaller dealers I know told me to try these guys. I shopped several different companies for my dealer bond and I got connected with Matthew Gerdes at JW surety. Matt was very prompt and professional and helped me look at a couple different dollar amounts. He was able to send me several accurate quotes before I heard back from any of the other companies I shopped. The city we are opening in took a long time getting our business license and we did not want to start our bond until that came through. Over 45 days later, Matt was still following up (he was the only one from any of the companies we shopped that did) and making sure we had what we needed. When our license finally came through I called Matt and he had our bond done and shipped in under 24 hours. Service so good it seemed too good to be true. I found JW Surety Bonds via a Google search when I was looking for a bond company. The bond form was not available at that time but Brian Heffintreyer was very patient with us and helped me understand the process a little better. Over a month later when I was finally ready to proceed I emailed again and got responses almost instantly. Once I had the bond form, Derek Yoder was helpful and responsive and the process of securing the bond was simple and straightforward. Our bond also cost 40% less than a local bureaucrat told me she had heard other people paying, so in addition to excellent service, I'm confident I received a good deal. Assuming there's no problems in the next 12 months I can't see any reason I won't continue renewing my bond with JW for the foreseeable future. read more

I was asked by the DMV to obtain a bond for my new auto sales business, so I contacted JW. Definitely get in touch with JW Surety Bonds. I used their services for a contractor bond and I couldn't be happier. As a new contractor in Utah I had to obtain a bond. A couple hard credit checks and some high priced quotes I found JW Surety Bonds. They were able to get me bonded for $1000... the next closest quote from other bonding agencies was $5000... as a new business owner $5000 is a bit on the high side, I am glade they were able to at least give me a quote, but in the future I'll stick with JW Surety Bonds. I needed a bond for the V.A. I was led to believe I had much more time than I did. When the V.A. Informed me I literally had days too get a bond to them, I panicked. Could not find anyone to do it in less than a week. I called our insurance agent, he found Matt at Surety for me. Mat not only had it done the very next day, he faxed it to the V.A. For me. Twice now, Reagan has gone to bat for us, due to the lack of attention to detail exhibited by the California Contractors State License Board. Reagan has displayed the highest of professionalism, and the best customer service, I have ever dealt with. The CSLB, is not the easiest to work with, depending upon who actually answers the phone, at the state board. But Reagan, got everything "Squared away". We received some good help from the sales rep at the JW Surety Bond who sold us the Bond that we needed, our first year. However, I agree whole-heartily with the other reviews that The JW Bond Agency is Rude and Not easy to work with. They clearly have a Distant and self- serving image and their staff are not very knowledgeable about anything except asking for advance payment, so that they can beef up their profits, and then stiff there clients on true customer service. Stay away from JW Surety, because even the owner of the Agency is rude, as you can see. read more

Reagan and Marcia are the sweetest ladies who have really helped me out and taken the time to really explain things to me so I completely understood everything that needed to be done with our Surety Bonds. I was pleased with the service provided for my business. We did not have a good credit rating so it was hard to find a decent price. We settled on a somewhat decent price after I had another offer from a different company that was lower than JWs. They met that price and went lower. I have no complaints. Cori Spencer was fast and efficient with the writing of my bond. It only took 4 business days for us to receive the bond after we paid. Cori kept us informed during the entire process.
