I had 10 older wooden porch windows wrapped in mid-May 2021. The initial consultation and job set…read moreup was fantastic. Deonte Hill (note that he has left three of the 5 star reviews for his own company on Google) was pleasant and assured me that they could do the job no problem.  It has been a headache ever since.  Now all I want is a refund for the job or for it to be completed correctly and the way the contract states.  Wood replaced.  Metal sheeting cut correctly.  Caulk applied professionally. On the day work began, Deonte called to ask if the subcontractor had started. He had. Deonte was disappointed because (paraphrasing) "these guys charge us a lot so I was going to try to send another team to do the job."  Why are you telling the customer that?   The wood framing of a few of the windows is rotten/missing in some areas.  The signed contract states that all necessary wood would be replaced as part of the job. That didn't happen. None of the wood was replaced. The subcontractors who did the work told me several times that they could've done a better job if they had replaced the rotted boards, so I assume that no one at the company told them that the wood should have been replaced prior to wrapping the windows.  I don't know if this company was trying to pull one over on me so they could save money or if they truly forgot to communicate to the subcontractors that the boards needed to be replaced. The second major issue is that the caulking that was done is insanely sloppy.  It is so heavy and caked on in some areas that even now, three full months later, it has still not dried & cured.  In a few spots, the caulk detached completely and this is when we learned that the metal sheeting wasn't even cut to the correct size to fit the windows leaving 1/2 inch gaps between pieces. Their solution was to pump tons of caulk into the gaps to hide them. It never dried and I assume rainwater got behind/underneath it and that's why the caulk came off. I notified the company of the sloppy caulk immediately after the job was done and they sent the subcontractors back out to address it.  After they were out, it still looked awful. So they came out again. Same issue, plus now their ladder pushed in some of the brand new siding I had installed a month prior to this job. Deonte came out after the second attempted fix and said he saw and agreed that there were still problem spots.  He called the subcontractor on speaker phone, right then and there, and told him that the issue wasn't fixed.  Subcontractor said they could come out again, but they'd be charging Five Star Exteriors again or docking the worker's pay.  After the call, Deonte said they were likely going to be losing money on this job.  WHY ARE YOU TELLING THE CUSTOMER THIS?  In an attempt to make me feel guilty so that I'll drop the issue? After that, it suddenly became my fault that the job wasn't done correctly because they said they told me the storm windows needed to be taken down.  NO ONE TOLD ME THAT. Absolutely no one.  Never.  It's not written in the contract, nothing.  We could have easily removed the storm windows prior to the job start date had someone told us that's what needed to be done. I was then told to contact "Pat" via text (he's higher up in the company, I guess?).  At first he was responsive and agreed to schedule a time to come out.  Now, two months later, he won't respond to my numerous attempts to schedule. At first I thought they were taking advantage of me because I'm a single woman homeowner, but now that I've read other reviews on Google and on the Better Business Bureau website, I see that their M.O. is to blame customers when something goes wrong on a job instead of taking responsibility and fixing the work. Again, all I'm looking for at this point is a refund or for the job to be completed correctly.  I'll be more than happy to update my review here and on the Better Business Bureau page if that happens.

Where other companies told us to "tear it down and start over," he saw a way to restore and improve our garage -- saving time, money, and a lot of material from the landfill. The crew was awesome to work with: friendly, respectful, and happy to explain what they were doing along the way. Even with a few weather delays, the communication was excellent, and we always knew where things stood. In the end, we have a garage that's straight, strong, and looks like it's been part of our home forever. Since we bought our house in March, we have dealt with many contractors. Jose & Angela are by far…read morethe most professional and honest among all of them. They took care of a drywall+door installation and a bathroom fan replacement. Among the 4 contractors we contacted for this, they were the only ones showing up in person to provide a quote. The others only asked for pictures and provided quotes based on those. The quote from Jose & Angela was very reasonable. A couple of times, as it is often the case, the project required some extra costs due to the unforseen conditions of the door and the fan we purchased. Jose was very transparent in describing the reasons of the additional costs and updated our contract immediately both times. At each step we knew what we were paying for why. Based on our experience, this is not something to be taken for granted. The final job was absolutely high quality. Moreover, Jose and his team did all they could to minimize the impact of dust etc on the rest of the house. I am very happy we (somewhat randomly, via Angi) got to connect with them. They will certainly be our first choice for any future work on the house that falls within their expertise.

Even more impressive was their reliability; they completed phases of the project exactly on the schedule they laid out at the beginning. Communication was top-notch; Steve kept us informed throughout the entire project, was always responsive to our questions, and made the process incredibly easy. Beyond their excellent process, the team's knowledge and skill were truly impressive. They offered great suggestions and clearly took pride in their craftsmanship. We started this journey in September of 2025 and we can't wait to see the final product in just a few days which will be a week earlier before the end of October 2025. I'm confident and would hire SBCI again for any future projects. Thank you Steve and your entire crew!
